I really cannot find the motivation to play the game at all since the RE chapter dropped and I am wondering with the new pallet validation if someone is camping a pallet will you still get hits through the pallet.

    Sometimes

    1) The pallet stun does not happen at the beginning of the throw but at the halfway point so if someone is slow to react it is still possible to hit them

    2) If your ping is better (lower) than the ping of the person camping the pallet, then pallet validation is unlikely to protect them.

Here's some insight from a dev that can also be helpful, as I've seen people saying to make them not scream, and this explains why that's not feasible.

Someone else brought it up in another thread on the General discussion and a mod/dev commented on it - I guess yes, this is happening because of the hit validator, however, the "bug" which needs to be worked out and is being addressed fortunately, is that a Killer shouldn't actually see the Survivor go down, burst blood, and hear a scream.. as if the entire attack was successful, only to see the Survivor magically reappear standing uninjured a moment later.

That's the issue, either the hit validator is actually wrong and choosing the incorrect person to favor due to who has better ping to the server, in which case maybe the hit validator actually isn't the best solution after all since it is sort of unfair, or they just need to fix it so that the Killer doesn't actually have to see and hear the Survivor getting downed by their action when in reality it didn't happen at all and the Survivor is completely uninjured.

This can be very misleading, the very first few times it happened I actually tried to look for the Survivor that was supposed to be on the ground wasting even more time in my match (mind you it was the first successful hit after chasing a guy through like 5-6 pallet loops already) and then I finally realized they were uninjured and long gone. I'm sure you can see how this can be very frustrating and potentially confusing as well.

The reason it creates delay because here's what happens when the hit validator removes a hit.

Your screen: You hit the survivor right as they throw the pallet down

Their screen: They threw the pallet down and you swing through it and hit them

How the hit validator sees it: The input that reached the server first is correct, which is often determined by ping. If the survivor has lower ping their pallet stun will reach the sooner quicker than your hit, the hit is rejected. However if the survivor has worse ping than you, your hit reaches the server before the survivors game tells the server you got stunned and the hit is accepted.

This is an improvement over the previous versions because previous versions encouraged bad ping. Players with bad ping could get hits they wouldn't be able to otherwise. The new system encourages killers to play with good ping since it will allow hits that wouldn't be possible on worse ping, and players playing on good ping creates a better overall experience so it's better to encourage this.

The best solution to it being misleading would be to add a sound effect, like a gong or buzz anytime your hit is rejected, as way for the game to say "hey your hit just got rejected"

  • A survivor screaming when having a hit rejected by the validator is intentional. If they did not scream until after a hit was reviewed by the validator every single hit with have the scream be delayed by anywhere between 1/20th to 1/5th of a second depending on latency.

  • I tested it in a kyf, it's just a visual bug, not any faster than 1 prove thyself.

yes I do have logs. The crash happened again in RPD just a few minutes ago. I've tried everything from verifying files, to updating graphics drivers, uninstall/reinstall.

Drag and drop the log files from the sessions where the crash occurred onto a post to upload it here for the devs

  • My experience has been that I can hit survivors through pallets unless they have lower ping then me, in which case I cannot

    Example:

    https://youtu.be/fybu3p-9miE

If you look at pings when I pause you can see these 2 have over 100 ping which is worse than mine.

Not ping related, evidenced by the fact that I was already on the other side of the pallet and billy didn't get stunned. It's not like I ran through the pallet zone, where a killer could get a hit by the tip.

Also just realized, he did not get stunned, so pallet validation does not trigger as it requires a stun as a prerequisite. As to why he did not get stunned, it could be a bug combined with latency or it could be some networking issue. It's possible lag compensation put you closer to the middle of the pallet on his screen and he swung for you got the hit without even needing to enter the stun zone in an act completely terrible ping. It's impossible to say for sure what caused this abnormality but it does seem to be a rarity so that's good.

  • @PalletsAndHooks said:

    https://youtu.be/0M7ammUgGlI

    is this camping the pallet?

Make sure your ping is not the issue. Pallet validation will often not help you if your ping is worse than the killers.

I've played against some players with 150 ping that I could reliably hit through pallets, but when I play against players with 50 ping (better than mine at 80) I could not hit them through pallets, I would get my hits rejected.

remember he got only 2 blades down so every single statistic is nerfed. Honestly, I heard they want trickster nerf from ptb but didn't expect to reduce base number of blades. and his recoil is weird af now. at least i see that change. main event now is cool.

2 blades is 25% faster than previously. That's not insignificant. That decreased blades about 25% as well. They probably would have gone with 45 for the 25% on the dot but 4 is an unlucky number in Asian culture so that's probably why they gave him 1 less.

  • The 44 daggers nerf honestly isn't that significant.

Before his buff he had a max potential for 8.5 7.5 injures with his knives per reload not including main event

After buff he has potential for 7.3 injures per reload. So yeah he has less knives but because it takes less to down he effectively has to reload just as often as before.

edit: typo in blades per reload

  • I dunno I thought the new jeff cosmetic was pretty good

  • I'm on PC and it's still working fine

  • Switch is still getting the bloodhunt

  • I'd really like to be able to use the weapon of the new blight skin separately from the head and body. I get the head and body being linked it's a whole different character. But the weapon being separate would be pretty great

  • Yeah I understand why stuff like the nea hoodie is linked since the head and body wouldn't really work apart but I see no reason for the legs to be linked, they'd work fine on other sets.

  • How do I convince my wife's boyfriend that he's wrong for enjoying Survivor?

For the past two days every time I walk by my bedroom and see him in there playing with a SWF with meme perks I get absolutely livid. I cannot believe he would betray this exclusively killer main household like this.

Sometimes I'd step in and say something like "H-hey Kieth, um, you know that playing in a Survive With Friends is basically an exploit, right? Like it makes aura perks like Bond almost useless a-and you can constantly call out the killer's location"

And he'd always say something ######### stupid like "Not now, champ. Go back to your room me and your wife need to have an important talk"

One time I tried to redditpill him again and said "H-hey Kieth you know that survivor is really unfun to go against because of Ruin Undying. And some killers are uninteractive to go against like engravings billy, um like you don't have enough time to react to the curve around loops. Don't you wanna join us and main spirit instead"

Now get this Reddit. He had the AUDACITY to say "I don't really care about ruin, its just a infinite flashbang generator. But if my team suffers too much from Ruin I'll maybe try to cleanse it with counterforce. I just want to focus on stunning the killer with head on"

I immediately ran out of the room sobbing, I sat at my desk and threw my chicken tenders all over the floor in disgust. He is a totem cleanse exploiter.

I just don't get it reddit. I'm at my wits end at this point. I cannot fathom how someone could enjoy exploiting in the current state of the game. I've already tagged the developers at least 13 times in my Reddit comment manifestos do you think I should start tagging him as well? I don't even know if he checks Reddit.

  • If they did this they would somehow end up nerfing pig

  • You have wrongly listed that spirit has a 75 second cooldown and 5 tokens.

    1) spirits power does not have tokens

    2) she has a 15 second cooldown total, IF she uses her entire power, if she only uses half of it it will be 7.5 seconds. If she uses a quarter it will be ~3.8 seconds.

A lot of the other numbers are wrong too.

Blight can be up to 13 second cooldown if he hits a survivor. Blights speed is also not 250%

Nurse's cooldown is 3 per token with a varying time fatigue that is close to 2 seconds.

I have no idea where billys 28 is coming from.

  • Somewhere between $300 and $400

I just want to know if this is still a thing, because I have people telling me I'm wrong, when I've experienced it myself from both sides. I don't know exactly why it works, something along the lines of Dead Hard being active for less frames than Victor's pounce, but as far as I know that hasn't been changed. Does anybody have a statement from the devs on this, or can agree with what I've said?

Victors collision box is considered a projectile rather than a killer, this means he moves through a survivor who is dead harding and as a result if poorly timed it's possible for your I frames to end with victor inside your hitbox causing him to hit you

Miiight be due to the fact that there is a cheater epidemic going around right now, and some people are turning off Crossplay because of it.

I'm pretty sure the performance issues are a more likely cause. I'm pretty sure cheaters are able to queue into any matchmaking queue they want. They can be on PC and join the ps5 crossplay off queue. Prior to this new cheat that lets them break the report menu cheaters would often make themselves show up as being crossplay players despite being on PC to make themselves harder to report.

  • crossplay off queue times are fine on weekends and sometimes late in the day when people are home.

  • Run undying if you are reliant on ruin

If you don't need ruin to win, don't bother with undying.

  • Wraith gets a speed boost coming out of invisibility because he would be useless otherwise. A long time ago the speed boost coming out of cloak was an addon and not a base kit thing and wraith was a garbage killer without it. Killers with a power that don't directly help them in chase are almost always total garbage because of how easy it is to avoid getting hit indefinitely. Of the killers with stealth powers, wraith is probably the strongest due to increased movement speed while cloaked giving good map pressure and a strong set of addons. Like any stealth killer, the counter to wraith is to be aware of your surroundings and to stay healed so that he cannot get an easy hook out of a surprise hit.

Edit: There are also a couple perks that can help you with this, spine chill being one so you know he's coming and sprint burst being the other so you can get away from him after he surprises you despite the disadvantage.

  • It blows the other slug perks out of the water because all the other slug perks are garbage not because it's too good.

Moving faster and crawling while recovering is going to make the killer lose on the ground at best, but that's hardly useful, if the killer is leaving you on the ground for long enough to lose you they are getting free pressure by slugging you. Tenacity is simply never going to be meta anti slug because hiding while slugged isn't good. Killers slug to keep you out of the match and get pressure. Tenacity does not prevent that

Flip flop is garbage that doesn't do anything without power struggle, 50% wiggle isn't even enough to get you out a decent chunk of the time if you even get to that point. Flip flop is garbage anti slug because it assumes you're getting slugged then picked up later, most killers if they slug you, you are staying slugged until they've pretty much won the match or you've been picked up.

Soul guard is the only that comes close to even being a decent competitor since you can get up if they have a hex and you have the bonus that when you get up you get endurance so you can't be downed as soon as the killer gets you up, if you knew ahead of time the killer was running a hex this would be better, but UB is more consistent counter to something that doesn't happen consistently in the first place.

UBs major effect is also limited to one time use which isn't true of the others

UB is an extremely important deterrent for the game's health. If it were removed from the game tomorrow, you'd see a lot of killers shift their strategy to mass slug because they know they won't be punished for it.

And you proved my point. In order for New Ruin to do any work whatsoever you have to put in work. And I don't know what kind of speed hacks you're on but I'm not able to be at 5 places at once as killer. If you get 2 good loopers on one gen, you can't do a thing. Especially if they're on comms. You chase one, the other one does the gen and vice versa. You defend the single gen, other gens pop if at least 1 other survivor is alive. (Or your ruin pops.)

And it's definitely my fault when a gen or totem pops before I even manage to walk to it for the first time. (Which regularly happens.) Survivors already get an upper hand by default because they are able to learn totem spawn points and just run by (Sometimes pretty far from them.) just to see if they're lit up or not. Same way killers with multiple hexes have no clue which hex is which in order to protect an important one.

Literally all cards are on the survivors' side with Hexes. The higher in rank you go, the more prominent the difference. On old Ruin it hindered the survivor unless they put in the work of getting constant greats. That's the difference between the killer having to do work in order for a hex to work (Like it mostly is now.) and the survivors doing work to not be affected by the hex. It's the survivors who are meant to be worse off, not the killer who already has to think about 3 gens, X hexes (Spread out god knows how.) and 4 survivors during the game.

In higher ranks Ruin usually doesn't have the total life span of 3 minutes let alone put in the work of 3 minutes worth of regression. Plus there's even more totem commandos now than ever before thanks to Counterforce.

Needing to work for your slowdown is a good thing for the game, if you have problems with gens popping before you patrol them, use corrupt or play a killer with better mobility. Look at gen placements at the start of the match and decide which gens aren't worth defending at all because of their position. If 2 good loopers are on a gen, you need to burn their resources at the gen so they don't have anything to work with. That's one of the most important aspects of playing killer, especially the weaker ones; creating, defending, and forcing survivors into dead zones.

  • @Mastermind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2380072#Comment_2380072

Hexes aren't strong enough from the get go to justify it. Your "best gen regression perk" does absolute jack about that guy that sat on a gen for 80 seconds in the distance. Devour doesn't become strong until you get 3 unhooks while you're 24 meters away. (Unhooking near you with BT gives you ######### all.) And by the time it starts being good, it may be cleansed so it may have done a grand total of ######### all too.

Old Ruin was exactly the level of power which hexes should be at. (Not taking gen-tapping into account.) That ruin worked for you even on that gen in the distance unless the survivor can hit great skill checks 100% of the time. (Which most can't.) That effect is much more powerful than the typical perk which justifies why it's a hex. Currently you have to work for the effect and pray to the Entity that you don't lose all that work the moment it was about to pay off.

This puts them on par with other perks which they shouldn't ever be at as they're cleansable. (And the game has a permanent perk which lets you physically see the exact position of every single totem in the game to even further reduce the chance of you getting good value out of a hex perk.)

New ruin is far stronger than old ruin. With old ruin if you could even hit half of your greats would only buy you about 10-25 seconds per gen. If you could hit 90% of your greats old ruin did next to nothing. Maybe 7 seconds worth of regression if you're lucky.

With new ruin if you push someone off a gen, even if someone gets back on it within 15 seconds it regresses 7 seconds worth of repair. If it takes 30 seconds for someone to get on it it regresses 15. If it takes a minute, 30 seconds of repair gone. And you can do that over and over again and keep pushing survivors off gens.

New ruin can easily total up to over 3 minutes of regression if never cleansed and you play well. If it's cleansed half way through a match you can still easily get over 1.5 minutes of regression out of it.

If you're letting survivors sit on gens for 80 seconds uninterrupted that's (usually) your fault. You're taking a bad chase or protecting the wrong gens, unless a gen is really far out of your way for gen defense, in which case letting them have it is fine so that they don't have that gen to do safely in the late game.

By comparison. pop will probably buy you 20 seconds per use. So in order to match a ruin that stayed up only half the match, you'd have to use it 5 times. And in those 5 times you use it, you had to spend the time kicking the gen which is precious time you could be chasing survivors with, where as ruin does it's thing on it's own if you give it the conditions to do so.

Losing hexes early on before they do anything is just a risk you run with hexes, overall I think devour, ruin, undying are all pretty balanced hexes, the other's are underwhelming.

  • I absolutely prefer lethal pursuer on anyone with high mobility.

Nurse, blight, and even billy all make it preferable.

You can be on a survivor and get a hit by the time it's over.

  • I hope they don't

I'd rather the charms stay exclusive to show veterancy.

fingers crossed this gets patched soon but with how long blight has been sliding off objects rather than bouncing I wouldn't count on it.

I'm convinced if there even is a QA team non of them play Blight.

To bypass this bug without swinging hold your rush key (default M2 on PC) then press your attack button (Default M1 on PC) while still holding the rush button. You will begin your rush without needing to swing your weapon.

  • The only offerings that actually do anything remotely useful to killers are moris and the hook offerings which don't have very much impact so I don't see why it really matters.

And even in the case of hook offerings the numbers on the offerings themselves account for this, the survivor ones do much less than the killer ones.

Edit: As for map offerings, there's no benefit to stacking them except powering through a sac ward, which no one does, because no one uses sac wards.

  • Anyone answering the twins is actually insane or far too attached to some made up honor rules.

Twins are gods of camping, and slugging which is pretty much the strongest 2 tactics besides tunelling. Yeah they're not pulling blight/nurse/spirit tier plays but they're still very strong and FAR from the weakest

    Slug and camp those survivors.

  • I don't know if straight recycle would work, so many of the games items and addons are completely useless people would just auto recycle everything but the 2 good addons that you would actually use on a killer. Very few killers have more than 3 or 4 good addons, and this would just increase the prevalence of those addons, ideally there would be less useless stuff so that people were actually inclined to use those things.

But I'd absolutely love to see a way to burn through some of things I have excess amounts of.

  • I play killer when alone and SWF with friends.

Survivor matches average about 8 or 9 minutes with shorter matches being around 5-6 and longer ones being around 10-12

My killer matches are typically 10-15 minutes.

  • Sports dating sim obviously is the only choice

  • Many of the sweaty players are sweaty because they enjoy dominating other players, what's to stop these players from going to casual to more easily dominate.

Hell look at rainbow 6 siege, the casual mode on there is literally a joke. It may as well be the top tier ranked bracket.

Also, No Man's Sky was caught blatantly lying. That was one of the most memorable rage quits of all time. Although people later returned after the promises were kept, it was clear that rage quitting certainly prompted the changes.

Same with Cyber Punk 2077, there were like 10 million copies sold and today's there maybe 10,000 concurrent players. Maybe.

    These are literally singleplayer games

  • The unfun aspect of hag is that she literally does not chase survivors. Assuming she is good at playing the killer.

The only time she is every going to actually chase a survivor is if that survivor is about to run into a trap or she's guranteed to get a hit because of what the survivor has to do to avoid that trap.

If you don't have a flashlight you have to trigger her traps to harass them which can be done safely but she's just going to teleport to it and set a new one.

Once she gets a hook, even if she doesn't put a trap around the hook you can bet every pallet remotely near that hook is unusable, additionally she will then proceed to ccamp the survivor to death in the middle of her 3 gen, which is completely trapped.

Never does she make any interesting plays, she just places traps and waits essentially.

Her entire game is making sure she keeps a healthy web of traps down and she only ever interacts with a survivor if that survivor is doing one of her 3 gens or that survivor is inside her web. If a survivor is not in her web, she will just leave them.

Like there is nothing about hag that is satisfying, you bind your teleport to scroll wheel, place traps in a 3 gen and press the attack button the instant you teleport because you are constantly spamming your scroll wheel, then you place the trap back down and do it again.

There's a reason no one mains hag.

  • WHY ARE WE YELLING!?

  • don't really care either way, few items are powerful enough to justify bringing one of your 4 perks just to counter them and even against the few that are justifiable it's still a side grade in my opinion over running a good perk like a slowdown or info perk.

  • Myers has a lot of strong addons, balanced by the fact that he sucks because he's pretty much just an m1 killer with a smaller TR or m1 killer but with instadown depending on tier.

Perma tier 3 is going to take a while to get, not incredibly long, but good survivors will have a myers on the ropes by the time he gets his tier 3 even with increased speed.

  • That's exactly why all of this information should be avaialble on the HUD to solo survivors.

    Basekit kindred

    Basekit totem coutner

All survivors become informed of who the killer is after any survivor interacts with the killer.

Survivors should also get a basic quick chat contextual communication system

  • If they force resolutions in a certain aspect ratio will break the game for people with different resolutions.

People with non 16:9 aspect ratios would essentially be forced to stretch their game.

And they can't just "force native res" for a few reasons. For one it could that create performance issues .for example I have a 1440p monitor but I prefer to play in 1080p in order to maintain 120 FPS. Additionally you can just change your monitors resolution with the use of the control panel and they have no control over that.

People using stretched for advantages isn't a new thing to dead by daylight, plenty of people do it in FPS games so that it's easier to shoot, it's not that big of an advantage.

  • All 3 of the maps with layouts like this are dumb, They need to make those 3 maps more square and give them a little better gen spread to make it so having your gens locked down isn't just handed to you on a platter.

  • I really hope they don't nerf dead hard because than the good survivors that people are complaining about will just switch to sprint burst which is far more uncounterable and strong than dead hard ever was.
