8 matches in a row of double range nurse, infectious/startruck/agitation. All different players.

funny enough all 8 complaining about ppl immediately giving up on hook.

I thought we were getting more variety.

I can't fault them for using that build. It's very effective for that killer, for a lot of killer really. I definitely get where you're coming from though. It does get really old really quick. The only thing I can recommend is playing a killer yourself that you'd like to see more of. Shouldn't be that way but it can be fun too. The ones that immediately come to mind are Freddy, Pig, Twins, and Hag. So, I'll take one of them into a few matches to maybe surprise the survivors playing.

Killers play survivor. Survivors play killer. Everyone is playing DbD. People are also individuals with their own thoughts and feelings. Killers and survivors are not two separate hive minds even though it may seem like that on the youtubes.

It's funny. Based on your comment history you strike me as the kind of person who would say that instead of camping/tunneling a survivor to secure a 1k at the end of the game the killer should just take the L and let everyone escape.

Except, I haven't said that in my comment history. You made a strawman to burn down because I guess that's what you need to feel good about things.

  • @Ryuhi said:

or you could just accept you got outplayed if you're playing for the hatch and take the L and move on? Im frequently the third one out because i find playing for hatch just as boring as you apparently find securing the 4th kill. Its almost like different people will always prioritize different things, and the issue then comes down to "is anyone actively preventing the game from progressing."

You said almost exactly what I did and made the exact same point. I agree with what you're saying. It also happens to align with what I said. I'm not sure why you had to be a jerk about it at the end though. I hope you got the satisfaction you were looking for.

  • I used to play quite a bit. 2-3 hours when I had some free time almost every day. Not it's probably 2-3 matches per week. I'm just waiting on the bots so I can play killer and survivor and just putz around.

Don't thank me, thank your friend that is praying you bleed out faster. If it were up to me, I would catch them one second after you went down. Trust me. They are the problem. Thanks for understanding.

Or you could just put them on the hook and then look for the last one. If they escape, darn, if you catch them, hooray! I've found it equally boring as killer to leave someone on the ground and hope the last one comes along and take one of the most obvious baiting tactics in the game. Your best bet would be to work on that skill level.

  • I can't even play her because I can't stand those obnoxious noises she makes. Forget cutting her hands off they should've put tape over her mouth.

  • @Veinslay said:

They need to make Deathslinger's terror radius bigger!

Agreed. Ranged attacks shouldn't get that kind of advantage. I've played Deathslinger with monitor and abuse and sure, that can be really fun but if they change it, oh well, life goes on. I'll have to try a little harder to catch them with his fishing pole.

As everybody knows, there are several bad maps in this game and I've been sent to the worst ones consistently for three days in a row now. Sometimes "naturally" (thanks for that wonderful random distribution devs), sometimes by offering. I've lost my patience.

I've started to play very nastily against any group (SWF or not, I don't care) that sends me to such a map (so basically MacMillan and Autoheaven offerings are safe).

If the map I'm being sent to is the Game, and I'm using one of the few killers that can manage it well, I don't care : the intent was clear.

As expected, many such group don't enjoy the resulting trial at all. However they were pretty happy to force a busted map and use tailored unhookable builds or any other "fun" stuff (you know what I'm talking about, ... or not) without a second though.

Do you also handle trials with a nasty map offering differently than normal ones?

Map offerings should never be allowed for either side. Same with picking maps in public matches in Friday the 13th. No one playing should be scheming that badly for a favorable advantage. Random chance is always fair.

Oh yeah someone whose entire history is only about killer buffs and complaining about old Dead Hard, makes a topic to explain the world that it is now a fantastic & balanced perk

OP, would you mind recording some of your own survivor gameplay and show us your skills with this fantastic perk? I would particularly like you to demonstrate these "mindgames / precise timing" you're talking about, specifically against Legion, VPN players etc.

Well said. Usually the opposite is true for the ones squawking about their amazing abilities.

I feel like I already know the answer. Just based on your post history. The same person who says "get good" because I'm smart enough to go back to hook because 2 survivors will be out of position. Over chasing someone on crotus with double god window main building. Or long wall 5m away from shack.

But did you think that old dead hard was fair ? Because not only do you want people who play killer to deal with rediculousoy unfair structures. You wanted them to deal with a perk that was stupidly over powered.

When I played killer dead hard was pretty easy to bait. If I already knew they had it and they made it to a pallet...oh well? It's not really that important. More people are learning how to use this version of dead hard and I believe it'll still be in the meta. Then what? I played against a very skilled survivor who used dead hard, soul guard, off the record and unbreakable at the right times. They were good in chases too. That's...just the game. I don't really know what else to tell you because you care very much about your perceived skill level and take this game very seriously.

  • In 2 or 3 years some of you here will probably want it nerfed again.

give me a logic and valid reason of why a killer shouldn't tunnel someone out of the game then...

Some of you should take a step back and gain some perspective. You're talking about a video game here.

  • I've found myself using it a lot more than I thought. There's still some world class nerds that follow survivors off the hook counting down timers so if they want to run backwards like a dunce for 15 seconds and waste time that's their prerogative. It's even funnier if the survivor has off the record.

  • I don't know if anyone here remembers, but the first week of Freddy's initial release was the best version. It takes longer than a week to learn counter play to a new killer. Not to mention the cycle of a new release, the first week or two the character is everywhere and then it thins out and returns to a normal cycle. Why BVHR decided to not wait for that on Freddy is far beyond anything I can conjure up. His strongest attributes were being invisible until you were "asleep" , chaining putting survivors to sleep and seeing auras beyond 20 meters. He was still very weak at countering loops and generator pressure.

  • @BToTheA said:

So, I played DBD from 2016 to October 2021, and was gonna return when I get home from work. I was curious about the state of the game. I mainly played Killer, and enjoyed Instant Q times, but reading through the patch notes and forums, I am seeing that Killers were buffed, and now their wait time to find a match is 10-20 minutes.

This is very dissapointing to me, as I really just want to play a few games after work, but have limited free time and dont want to spend it WAITING. So my question is, is it true? Are the Queue times really that bad? Also, how is the state of the game in general? I just want to play some Pyramid Head/Clown/Leatherface again after a year of not playing...

You started playing right before me. Once upon a time you could find a lobby instantly on either side. Long story short, crossplay has made the entire experience miserable.

  • @Valaryyn said:

Sole Survivor is the worst survivor perk in the game.

Edit: Actually, the new Ada perk that just hides your scratch marks when you are the last survivor is probably even worse.

Devil's advocate, you could probably use that Ada perk as part of a joke build with left behind, adrenaline, and wake up

  • I voted yes because of its lack of use, but after seeing some commenting about its potential as a solo perk, I initially scoffed. With the way the game is played now there are more killers leaving survivors on the ground for one reason or another so it could be more useful now.

  • From what I'm seeing, blight would be useless without aura reading.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

This is the 3rd time you have made this thread.

Yes but this time they HAVE to listen!

  • It's been useless since they changed the hits from regular attack to protection. It went from being a solid solo perk that wasn't guaranteed to activate to an SWF meme perk.

I wish I thought to keep some statistics on the original version of it because it didn't count as a hit against: nurse hitting you out of a blink, wraith hitting you after uncloaking, hag hitting your after coming out of a trap, trapper hitting you while you're stuck in a trap, legion hitting you during frenzy, and then of course things like huntress hatchets, billy and bubba chainsaw attacks. I know that clown, doc, and trapper had it the worst probably in that order.

It lasted one month which tells me that BVHR likely collected it's money on the license and then said up yours and/or decided to kowtow to the lowest common denominator.

The game is still fun and SoloQ has always been a bit crap, but I still solo Q and do decent just wish I stop getting teammates that decide to DC after their first down or suicide on hook...heck I wish they would just do Gens or helpe on gens because I'm sick of being the only one doing Gens and can pop out 3 gens myself

Solo has not "always been a bit crap". I started playing this in early 2017 and played almost exclusively alone because people I know weren't into this type of game. I had a lot of fun until the end of 2019. I think after that is when they started changing a lot of things like maps, buffing and nerfing perks, etc. When Ash was first released I had so much fun using Mettle of Man, Self Care, Kindred, and Unbreakable. It was perfect for a solo player. Once the bots release I'll probably have some fun with mettle and just run around using bond and empathy and activating it.

  • Every day I'm glad I got distortion early.

  • As killer I'll do it if there's been a dc or someone who gives up on the hook immediately. If they're good in a chase and not being a jerk about it I'll let that one go. As survivor it's never an expectation. 2017-19 it was kind of an unwritten guideline for the killer to let the last one go but there's a lot about this game from that period of time that's never coming back.

  • I think that's a good strategy. It allows for the killer to get a healthy survivor on the ground and on the hook rather quickly.

  • @Crowman said:

People just like to ######### at killers for playing smartly and going for strategies that help them win. Until survivors go with the same standard of playing less optimally to make sure your opponent has fun, there's no reason killers need to.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3138958#Comment_3138958

If it doesn't matter if survivors escape or killers kill, then there's no reason why you should care if you get tunneled/camped out. At the end of the day it means nothing.

The first sentence in your second statement is a strawman. I didn't say that. Point still stands. In your case it sounds like if the shoe fits...

  • @dollidahlia said:

I’m more addressing tunneling rather than camping. Camping itself is a boring play style for BOTH parties.

on the other hand, tunneling is ABSOLUTELY valid, and I don’t see why it shouldn’t be.

unless the killer you’re playing is nurse or blight (high mobility) why should the killer ignore the injured one that came off the hook?? That’s outrageous.

and enough with the “you must play by how I feel” rules. That’s ridiculous, there are plenty of counters to tunneling.

~DS: although nerfed, if you make sure you go down near a pallet or window can give you more distance to extend the chase

~ BORROWED TIME: it was buffed you guys, use it! It’s really good

oh and the best perk of all

    kindred:

EVERY SOLO should run this perk. Not only does it tell you if the killer is patrolling so people can do gens or go for save. But it shows who’s closer so who.can go for save. WHY WOULD NOBODY RUN THIS?

People like you I just can't figure out. It's a game, it should be played to have fun. There is literally nothing tangible waiting for you at the end of a match if you escape or get 4 kills. No money, no trophy, no applause, nothing.

Expectation: I'm going to run kindred so my teammates know when to come unhook me. I'm never going to die on first hook, this is going to be a great game of DBD!

Reality: "Kate, you see that? Ace is looping the killer in the other corner over there. If he doesn't run our way, we might be able to finish this gen AND one more before going for unhook. ...wait, why did they kill themself during second stage?"

Exactly why I don't run Kindred.

I really can't stand it when people do this. That happens very infrequently. It's just when it does it's frustrating. I really don't give a sh*t if you run kindred or not, the value is still useful. I use kindred for the information I get when someone else is on the hook. It good to know if it's a skilled killer that goes hunting or clod that stands still.

  • @KayTwoAyy said:

I've been trying to raise awareness about this for like 2 years now. The game does not promote teamwork.

I just watched three idiots with kindred active. Two working on a generator and a third was obviously in a chase based on movement. It's too bad we can't post their names because people this stupid should be avoided.

  • I go for the unhook because it's just a video game. I'm not really that hard up to "win". Same when I'm playing killer. I'd rather get 30k with no kills than 15 with 4. Others need the validation because they nothing else to look forward to.

    To each their own.

MoM is a really bad example of "perk got nerfed because people complained about it".

MoM never was on a ptb. It was one of the few perks that went live without any kind of testing. It was also a very meta warping perk as if you played any killer that primarily dealt damage by using M1, every survivor had an extra hit. Yes people could counter MoM by playing killers who could bypass it, but that didn't change how unhealthy of a perk it was and it's impact of the killer meta. It made already bad killers worse and already good killers could ignore it. It got changed, because it was a highly impactful people that everyone was running, not because people were complaining about it.

That perk literally got nerfed because people complained about it. Don't make a half baked bad faith argument like it wasn't in the PTB so that's different. It would've been the same result but in slightly less time.

None of the drivel your presented is relevant to the fact that perks get changed all the time because BVHR loves the lowest common denominator.

Even if I don't want a heal for some reason. If they harass me enough, I'll always give in. Maybe it's like feeding birds. They squawk at some people and get a bit of bread in return and in time they learn to harassass everyone for food this way.

I've seen plenty of stupid analogies. The gamer community is filled with them. This one is exceptionally bad though.

  • I mean, you're the dunce who made an entire thread to tell everyone here how selfish of a player you are.

  • I fully expect it to. Any new perk on either side will get cries and pleas from streamers and casual players to nerf/buff a perk. It never fails. I always think of two specific examples. Freddy when he was first released in 2017. For those that know, know. If you don't, find a video and watch how he played when he first came out. He still wasn't that powerful. It was a matter of players being too lazy to learn counterplay. He lasted ONE WEEK before BVHR decided to kowtow to the lowest common denominator.

The second was the original version of Mettle of Man. The one that required three standard attacks to activate. It was strong to be sure, but it was never a guarantee to work. For example, it didn't count for a nurse hitting your out of a blink, wraith hitting you after becoming uncloaked, Billy and Bubba's chainsaw attacks, hag hitting you after teleporting to a trap, huntress hatchet, and probably one or two I can't think of. It was an amazing solo perk but of course SWF ruined everything and got the streamers to cry about it.

It's an incredibly selfish thing to do with someone right there. One of the worst survivors plays I've ever seen was when I was on the hook WITH KINDRED and watched as three idiots healed themselves WHILE BEING ABLE TO SEE EACH OTHER. Granted, I've never seen that before or since, (been about a year), but those are the kinds of players that will insist on healing themselves no matter what.

Second this. I never want them to revert back to the old ruin. EVERY killer used it. In fairness, at worst it was a minor inconvenience and only delayed the inevitable. However, it was very obnoxious to do every match.

You absolutely feel like you are pigeon-holed into taking OTR, and exhaustion perk and now with Reassurance, you have another perk you almost feel like you have to run.

It's kind of wild now. BVHR is doing almost everything they can to force killers to leave a 32 meter radius from the hook. It shouldn't be a lot to ask but here we are.

I still think they need to implement point deductions after spending a certain amount of time inside 16 meters from the hook.

Had a game where I knew from the start that I was up against some bullies. Wasn't as bad as it could have been, but an oak offering, amap offering and Bloody Party Streamers, coupled with some dedicated sabo builds and all those break outs? Yeah, that was a textbook recipe of a three man SWF, and the other Meg with her escape build was most likely just an unlucky extra. So in this regard I got lucky that I was send to Dead Dog instead of Haddonfield, like they had originally intended :)

They played like you would expect: balls to the walls, always trying to goad me into pointless chases at the main building, saboing several hooks along my way, bodyblocking galore, jumping on each others gens the moment I chases someone off, you name it. The Meg, whom I suppose wasn't part of this group, died on first hook because no one of them bothered to get into danger for her, and they all slammed out gens in the meantime; this figures, too.

But it all played out beautifully in the end: the Meg who escaped got unhooked and I chased her out of the one open gate and downed the Jake. While I hooked Jake, the Jill cleansed my NOED, she managed to circle me, while I was looking for her, and unhooked Jake, but went down. I hooked her, went after Jake and could see with much satisfaction how he went to the exit gates, notices The Entities walls and tried to hide in the corner. He went down just in time for me to pick him up and hook him, before Blood Warden fizzled out. It was beautiful.

Just by looking at the scores, your kills probably didn't mean all that much to them. You were also using NOED on a killer with one hit down ability so that speaks to your lack of skill more than their perceived toxic play. It's more pathetic that you were begging for negative attention after the fact. Frankly, you're the one that looks like the a**hole.

  • I miss old Ormond a lot too. One of the best details was the snow crunching under your feet as you were walking or running. Now it only does that in certain areas. I miss most of the old maps. I had grown very attached to the old Haddonfield before the rework because it looked like the original game still and that was nice. I do like the changes made to the farm and MacMillan but all the rest are pretty awful. Gas Heaven feels like I'm playing on a postage stamp.

  • Third Seal doesn't get enough use. Obviously the biggest problem is hex perks don't last very long, but I've seen matches go tits up if the killer can get that power to activate early on. It's even more powerful if they're using thrill of the hunt and undying.

I also started using distortion almost every game now. Killers are heavily reliant on aura reading. Some always have been, but now if they're not using bbq it's absolutely lethal pursuer. We can always count on blights, billys, and nurses to use bbq though.

In my mind paying for Amazon prime ONLY for some dumb skins is everyone own mistake and doesn't make demanding higher quality digital goods reasonable.

People are allowed to express disappointment whether something is free or not.

  • I have really become attached to Resurgence. I don't think it needs to be reevaluated for tier class or anything, but with all the changes made, it's important to get healed as quickly as possible. Even if they don't have a healing buff it makes a big difference.

The perk is absolutely busted, and i see it nonstop in high rank games. Atleast 2 survivors are always using it.

The bonuses it gives are too high, 30% faster gen repair for being next to a survivor as the only requirement? That's like Reverse hex pentimento with no real condition to use it. Absolutely braindead design by the devs.

BHVR has absolutely no awareness of their own game or how dumb some perks are. It's not even funny how fast gens get repaired because of it. This game is not going to last like this, please nerf the bonus from 15% to 5% which is appropriate.

Maybe they should just make a button that you can press that immediately gives you 4 kills.

The original system with just rank 20-1, while at the time I thought it wasn't very good, is the best way in hindsight. Moreover, I loved when we could see ranks in the lobby. I at least had the option of deciding, as a green, purple, or red, to head into a match with two others in my ranks and one rank 20, which usually turned out to be a new player tagging along.
