@SgtMittens ...you can't seriously be mad at people using discord, like my bad let me just not hang out with my friends, oh how fun :| what
Who said anything about being mad? It's a statement of fact, not an indictment on your inability to play a game by yourself.
-
You can thank the same swf groups for all of these killer and endurance buffs. Unfortunately you can't even add proximity chat to the game because swf dunderheads will still use Discord.
-
I've never heard of this phrase until tonight. It sounds absurd. It's right here with "gen rushing". Neither exist.

I dunno what you guys are all talking about. Yeah, soloQ is apparently the hard mode of the game, but queue times are so fast that if I get tunnelled and camped I am just back inc the next game within 2min. And contrary to most stories here, I don't get camped every single game, nor 5 games in a row and while I got a decent number of awful survivor buddies,I don't get hook-suiciders and DCers every match, either.
I am having an fun in soloQ and at least my game are not half as and as anyone else's commenting here. But maybe that's just different perception due to different expectations? I don't expect to escape every game. Often enough I get caught and sacrificed at the last gen, but that game was still fun and I walk out with 22k BP or something, so I would count that as a good game, while others might be sad and downtrodden, calling the game utter crap.
"Hey, everyone. When I play solo and have my game ruined by someone playing for an invisible trophy, I just move on. Surely that's a universal sentiment"

So the essence of your post is captured in that last sentence: git gud. Sage advice, really.
"git gud" (I really hate teenybopper buzzwords), is the war cry of the talentless. Watching someone fumble around on a game they helped create and observing that is hardly the same thing. In your case it sounds like if the shoe fits...

That's true enough. On the other end of the spectrum, I've been making rift challenges my main source of fun solely BECAUSE I've been stuck with teammates who don't play well. The alternative is massive frustration lol.
Well, that's fair.

I get where you're coming from, but there's no one right way to play the game to begin with. The devs have stated as much by saying DBD is more akin to a party game than a competitive e-sport.
To some, rift challenges are more fun than "playing the game."
If I've learned anything, it's to never take what BVHR says at face value. There's no way this is a party game. It certainly shouldn't have tournaments and I'm glad they refuse to sponsor them. There is a level of competition that should exist but some people here play like they're gonna win buckets of money after. I wish I could find it but on Reddit about 3 or 4 years back, there was a dev stream where they couldn't even down one survivor on an SWF team. I haven't seen a stream in a while but I was shocked by how bad some of them are at the game. If anyone doesn't know how to properly play, it's them.
-
If killers weren't so intimidated by pallets and stopped respecting them, chases would be over faster. Also, even if you don't catch them initially, getting rid of pallets pays dividends later in the match because it creates dead zones.
That really goes for windows too. I swear every killer will run around the window when they see you running for it. I just turn around and run around the opposite side. Repeat. Path of least resistance is old reliable.
-
Rift challenges are one of the worst inclusions in the game. Sure, it's nice to earn bonus points, but it causes people to play in a way they normally wouldn't to fulfill some stupid and arbitrary task. The worst case is they outright tank the game. Dailies at least require an aspect of normal game functions.

Temporary bans do not show on steam profiles, this is part of the reason why people think BHVR don't do anything, only permanent game bans will show.
I've long thought if someone gets a VAC or permanent ban from one game they should be restricted in other online games. I can't believe people with multiple permanent bans even have an account.

I have no idea what "get gut" means but I do know that eventually the players that need everything to be easy will want it nerfed as well.
-
Everyone knows that people playing with their friends on Discord have been the issue since they implemented it. For those that may not know, when you died you used to be able to see the killer's loadout. They had no choice but to change it because morons would tell their friends. In the military when we ran drills this was called unearned information and it meant you failed. Same thing if someone is on the hook without kindred and tells their goons the direction the killer is headed in. Basically unearned information was the Army's way of saying you're a worthless cheater.
-
You could do this with killers too. "pEr kiLLeR RuLeBoOk survivors aren't allowed to work on generators while the killer continues to chase the same person because that's gen rushing"
Get over yourself, jabroni.
-
It's been 6 years and they still haven't made a city or a beach map. I really thought we were getting a neon cityscape with the Trickster. That would have made up for how goofy looking he is. A beach map could very easily be an island with the water serving as the barrier.
-
I played maybe 5 matches per week now. I've said in other threads that at this point I'm just waiting for the bots so I can relax and just play for, brace yourself, fun.
-
Some of these comments...a smart move? Good counter? The killer is holding the game hostage because they'll fill their diaper if LE GASP, one person escapes!
Reality doesn't come naturally to a few of you.
-
Just wait until the bots are released. I think for a brief period initially the queue times are going to be even longer because frustrated players will just want to chill out and learn a new killer or just quietly relax and kill bots.

@Biscuits said:
The counter play to nurse is actually extremely simple, there isn't really much to learn. Break line of sight every chance you get, and be unpredictable. I don't agree with your premise that people refuse to learn the counter play, because there isn't really anything to learn.
People don't like playing against her because she's in the power role. No matter how good you are at her "counter play" the reality is, if she's a good nurse, she isn't going to miss. In my opinion people don't like playing against legion for the same reason. In his power, a good legion is never going to miss you, no amount of "counter play" is going to stop you from getting hit.
With both legion and nurse, you need to trick them into messing up. All they have to do, is not mess up. That doesn't really make for engaging gameplay.
This reductive, over simplified answer is like telling someone with clinical depression to "just smile". Breaking line of sight is entirely dependent upon the map. On Eyrie of Crows, you can't run anywhere because she's going to see the blood. Also, breaking line of sight isn't a guarantee to be free from the chase continuing, it will give you a brief respite and break bloodlust but you're only delaying the inevitable.

I always use Kindred. If the killer refuses to leave during the endgame, (which is understandable but still frustrating), it's time to go. I frequently use Bond, Kindred, Open Handed and whatever fourth perk I think will help. Information is the best counter to every killer.
-
This is also my gripe with it. Also, I've use that exact build before or some variation. I LOVE Kindred + Open Handed. That information is invaluable to everyone. You also learn just how bad the proximity camping really is sadly. However, for Blights, Billys, and Nurses you can see where they're going with almost pinpoint accuracy.
Anyway, I like this idea!
-
I actually like this idea. Make the hooks work like Pyramid boy's cages but with more random spawning locations. As for the crying about survivors being able to loop near the hook, well, smart killers will either slug them if they catch them or take the high road and move on, you know, hunt for the others.
-
BVHR only cares about the streamers that bought in for the "fog whisperer" status and people that play with their friends 6 hours a night. Everyone else can take it or leave it.
-
If anything about the hook needs to be removed it's the vacuum, or, as a compromise reduce it a little bit. That thing starts from almost behind the hook.
"bUt WuT aBoOt dUh wIgGLeZ?!" I've seen my bar at max and I magically don't wiggle off because of the vacuum. I've also had survivors tell me in the post chat they couldn't believe they didn't wiggle off.
-
I'm from the "back in the day" nurse also. Pre bbq & chili and infectious fright. It wasn't easy, but nurse could be countered. You know what always worked against her? Iron Will, aside from that brief and very stupid period of time when stridor inexplicably negated it, Iron Will has always been a very reliable stealth and chase ending perk.
Again, tell me why it's harder to counter nurse?
-
It would be great if the characters that normally have firearms would be allowed to have one shot like in Friday the 13th with the shotgun. One shot, 10 second stun, no reticle, no way to reload. It would be the most amazing counter to camping too.
-
@Mandy said:
With the strongest killer in the game as a free character, pay 2 win really doesn't apply. Other characters (non licenced) can be purchased with shards (in-game currency), or they can be paid - however, you do not need these characters to win.
Perks are free, they can be unlocked through BP on the bloodweb by levelling up characters or through the Shrine with in-game currency.
But to make Nurse the most effective requires the purchase of additional characters for their perks. This also doesn't address the concern brought up by OP.

Why? What's the thinking? "That'll show them"? You just look like a baby and screw over your team. I don't get it. Some people even DC on hook. That doesn't even hurt the killer at all. They still get the sacrifice points I believe.
I like how you call them babies yet the tone of this is 100% whining.
-
Get rid of either the zombies or the virus infection. No killer needs 4 types of attacks.
-
Not getting mentioned in the annoying killer list is Plague. I hate that b*tch. Anything in the game that completely nullifies and voids a perk or a function, such as healing for instance, makes it a chore to play.

Killers camp because it's easy and it works. It has nothing to do with gen times being too fast or looping being to strong.
You're not wrong. It's much easier to do that than learn the mechanics of each killer. No argument here.

What justifies this nerf? That a meme perk like Starstruck can be used along with it? The counter to Starstruck is literally just get the hell away when the killer picks up a survivor or is going to pick up a survivor, and Starstruck also has a cooldown. Devs think that Awakened Awareness + Starstruck + Lethal combo is too "oppressive"? It's literally a situational meme build. And they gave killers another reason to not bother with Lethal Pursuer even more. If i went against this build i would just run in the opposite direction whenever the killer downs another survivor. They nerf fun builds, and then wonder why killers just stick to 4 gen slowdown perks lol.
Gosh, it would be bad if killers had to, you know, hunt on their own...
-
Too many people filled their diapers about the old version. Now, there's less crying because it's terrible for everyone except killers that can cover ground quickly.

👆️ It's the truth watch any competitive match they mostly boil down to how fast the killer can get their first hook and apply pressure. They understand that their teammates are always doing gens though so it's more reliable. If you're playing with a swf or trust your teammates drop as many pallets as needed and you will win. You only have 2 health states & 3 hook states, but there are a LOT of pallets.
Competitive matches are the sorriest displays I've watched and I'm sorry I did watch them. Taking a game like this that seriously comes across as a plea for help.
-
Anyone not using kindred playing solo and doing that stupid rescue are likely doing so because that's more tolerable than the post chat where someone cries about not being rescued across the map. Either that or they're really stupid. You decide.
-
It's the same on both sides. Survivors teabag at the gate or by doing the oh-so-amazing play of a pallet stun and killers will shake their head no after losing chases and eating pallets when they get you down because now they're the MVP and will shake their head yes when you're the last one on the hook.
It's the person behind the screen. Those with nothing to offer outside of the game need that validation. They're pathetic and drag everyone else down.
-
I could see them doing that but keeping the deactivation when the gates are powered. I'd rather compromise and have it be a 3 second stun and still be active when the gates are powered. Killers will camp then even if they played a skillful game otherwise. That's not to say they shouldn't but we know the drill, unhook, killer runs backwards counting down bt even if it's not applicable, hit, pick up. Not having any protection during the endgame is stupid.
All the best perks on both side are disliked because of SWF with comms.
-
I played two games today after a week off. Game 1 I got a Plague that tunneled off the hook with a mori. Game 2 I got a Myers who tunneled the first death off the hook with a mori. The second game was better because after that first kill he was forced to hunt and bought some time. Also, both games were Blood Lodge with no map offerings.
I've also come across killers who feign lack of skill or even worse, farm the entire match just to activate NOED. It's rare but it happens a lot more now.
Before the big update, I used bt, ds, kindred, and spine chill. Because of how matches go I now use ds, kindred, otr, and rotate bt/we'll make it/resurgence/exhaustion perk. wow...what a difference...
-
I respect that it's difficult to master playing nurse. I don't really respect that it really seems like every player that does uses every aura reading imaginable with make your choice. Nothing against the rules but I play to have fun, not help stroke the ego of someone whose life begins and ends with winning a video game.
-
@LeFennecFox said:
I mean some pallets you have to camp because of how unsafe they are I'd rather have them waste a few pallets and not give the killer a hook than go down earlier.
I don't think this is as important as it used to be. New killer players are the only ones who don't try the "moonwalk" into a pallet. Some will learn after you bait them once, twice, even three times and then they'll start playing and stop dancing. There's still some players that are so terrified of pallets they'll sit there and pause every time.

most players play only one survivor, this is not the perfect way to know the skill of a teammate but is the best we have
It's not, at all.
-
Oh no someone new is playing le vidya game! Some of you take this stuff way too seriously. If you're dodging a lobby because of a missing cosmetic, play solitaire for a while.
-
I'd like it a little more if they removed all the stupid effects from the screen while you're contaminated.
-
I can't wait for bots. Before Friday the 13th shut down the dedicated servers, I had so much fun playing counselor in public matches and then playing Jason against bots. I don't care about trophies, badges, or whatever other pieces of flair a game has. I just want to chill out and have fun.
I've played with the bots on mobile. If that game had controller support it I'd play that all the time. Playing survivor with the bots is weird though. What I do like is that I don't have to use any slugging or tunneling perks. I had a great time using empathy, bond, breakout and mettle of man and just running around activating it. I get that's going to be redundant and boring for a lot of people but it's a joy to just screw around like that and not ruin someone else's game.

Not true at all. I had a 5 gen chase against a huntress earlier this week, along countless 2-3 gen chases when they commit.
Right, of course you did...

DbD has reach Call of Duty I think. Maybe not player numbers but more so it's a game that's big enough to have enough traction to not really worry about fading away. They both have a stranglehold on their respective genres, and most of the people playing longer than 2 years are miserable.
-
I just realized this post is saying you don't understand how attrition affects and opponent and why it's a good thing.

It would be nice if the game had a timer. Like 30 minutes is the absolute longest a game can go, no reason to let games go on longer than that.
I think this is the best solution and it would solve a lot of problems. I would shorten it to 20 or 25 because I think the average game time is 8-16 minutes? I don't know for sure but I'll go look it up.

Listen. I think most people can agree Dragon's Grip is a bad perk. But honestly, Ive been using it a lot recently because it is so bad that nobody expects it.
The amount of times Ive had people tap generators right in my face only to get hit with it is just too many to count. Also just the wave of dread from the survivors when they see the Exposed status show up, followed by a scream, followed by an immediate down will just never not be funny to me.
Ive gotten it down so much into my gameplay to where I will even camp a recently kicked generator with Trail of Torment on top of Dragon's Grip just to make it even easier (and funnier) to down survivors.
Not sure if this is just me, but getting Dragon's Grip value is starting to become a mild unhealthy obsession, I will literally throw games just to get some value from it if I think it's funny enough to do; Ill probably stick onto it until it starts to become not funny against and move onto the next funny thing to run soon after.
As survivor I love seeing rarely used perks. When I see third seal I smile and sigh because it's rare to see it and usually gets some mileage in a match.

Large TR is detrimental to Slinger because unlike Huntress and Tricky Boi he is a short to mid range Killer. Every Slinger I faced never once hit me with thier gum because I could hear him coming before he was even in range.
I know it's a typo, but you said gum and now I'm picturing Deathslinger spitting his gum out at people. Anyway, that's a good point and I didn't think about that so, kudos. He's a killer I've only played 3 or 4 times so I wouldn't know for sure.
