The first 2 or 3 hours after a new chapter has been released is fun. After that I have to take a break for a few days because every match with the same killer is boring. I also used to get survivors that would disconnect because I wasn't using the new killer.

The custom matches versus bots will be awesome! You can practice with any killer you want without looking like a fool 😄
I'm also really, REALLY looking forward to this. Not only to practice with killers I never had a desire to use, but also to mess around with survivor builds. I want to use Bond, Empathy, and Mettle of Man and just run around activating it.

Killer mains will tell you it’s still good, but only because now it’s a trash perk and also it’s 1 less perk slot
Very prophetic. The next comment below yours does just that. If players stopped taking the game seriously we wouldn't have a fraction of the problems we do.

The name Power Struggle makes it sound like it should be relevant to being carried. Boil Over throws the killer around and I thought PS should slow them down. Could be too strong that way but its current state doesn't offer much except when you make it work that one time out of 20 matches you can smile.

I'd hope not, but BHVRs apparent inability to identify cheats in their own game without video evidence makes me paranoid about scenarios like this.
I sent them a video of a Ghostface having machine gun knife swings and instant hooks in 2019 and I never heard anything and the person, who was on Steam, never had a ban. It appears they will only ban someone that a streamer with a large following had identified. I guess that's better than nothing but it doesn't do much for people just trying to have fun.

I don't understand this poster either. They're very incoherent. They've been suspended or something now, so I guess they're also problematic. Best to avoid them.
You really couldn't tell? It was mockery with a sarcastic interpretation. If you think my posts are incoherent, that tells me you're used to most things being in a meme format. Sorry :(

So you judge all swf:s based on one swf wow! I have been left to die by 3 man swf:s dhile I could be easily saved but still don't judge them all for that and I do play swf myself and we help always our teammates unless he is selfiss himself sandbagging us. And when I get toxic behaviour from plagues like bleeding me out purposelly then closing hatch front of me while puking on me and headnodding ofcourse. But not all plagues or killers are like that and neither are all swf:s.
Looks like we found 1/3 of that troll team. "nOt aLL eSSdUbYa EfF N kiLLerZ" Reminds me of when women are trying to talk about predatory behavior and some yokel always comes back with "NOT ALL MANZ"

Closed-mindedness. On this issue, I can understand people screaming "killer biased", because it's affecting situations in which the killer has most likely got 3 kills already. But my argument is: that isn't a good enough excuse to ignore the issue entirely.
On other issues though, like Pop getting nerfed multiple times, Ruin getting nerfed multiple times, Wraith nerf, Deathslinger nerf, Pinhead nerf (why?), people just don't give you anything.
"It's OP."
"Why?"
"Killer main, get good."
That kind of stuff. And people have agreed with what I've said before, sometimes in droves, but they show their support through upvotes rather than comments, which kind of makes me look like an outsider who is the only one arguing about a certain issue. If the forums are full of killer mains, I'm the sugar plum fairy.
The "people agree with me in droves and upvotes" is one of the saddest I've seen recently. That's not validation of any kind. This "trusted" tag is a joke. It has to be this forum's equivalent to Yelp's "elite". You have to convince someone you think your opinion is important.
-
Once upon a time when one person disconnected, a killer might show a little leniency. Maybe letting one of two generators finish depending on how many were already completed, etc. When 2 dc'd then the unwritten guideline of farming was accepted. Players were a lot more laid back. Of course, this was before crossplay so make of that what you will. Now killers play like they're in the Super Bowl.
BVHR's handling of camping and tunneling has been horrible for quite some time. They go out of their way to say it isn't against any rules but continue to move the goalposts so they can create more perks to "counter" it. They won't do anything substantial because, like with SWF, everyone knows it makes the game worse but they think they'll lost players and money if they remove it. I find that hard to believe since there's little competition.

Unpopular opinions, you say?
My my, here we go:
1- EGC is a terrible mechanic and should be completely removed.
2- Killer has been fully playable and winnable for years.
3- Any act of toxicity that is done without reason should be punished.
4- Not a single version of Freddy was weak enough to be considered low tier.
5- Most of the stuff that was deemed "unbalanced" in the Old DBD was actually easy to counter.
I can tell you've been playing since at least 2018, if not earlier with that list. I actually agree with it from top to bottom. I never thought about the EGC until you mentioned it. It's terrible and worthless. Hatch "standoff" was never an issue for me. When I was the killer I'd just hit them and let them escape. When I was survivor I'd just start running and let them kill me. Do you know why? Because it's a f*cking video game and none of it matters. A killer standing there with their d*ck in their hand over the hatch said more about them than the survivor. You have no tactical advantage. Just eat it and move on.
-
He looks fine. You've either never watched the original movie or you're making this argument in bad faith.
-
Using any killer that can cover distance quickly while using bbq isn't skillful at all. It doesn't matter how long it took to master them, knowing exactly where to go next requires nothing from the player.
I can't stand Wraith's add ons. He gets a lot of extra aura reading and stealth when he doesn't need it. Same with Huntress iridescent hatchets and tombstone Myers. That's ridiculous.
I think current survivors are over reliant on healing boons. I honestly can't believe more killers haven't started using noed more because I've played survivor and cleansed a totem only to have another goof run over, see it, then make noise to draw the killer over.
Survivors getting in a locker or running away when someone on their death hook is in a chase is sandbagging. If you're also on your death hook, no problem. Otherwise, get in the fight, dunce.
Survivors who can't anticipate the killer coming back to a previously hooked or downed person and do it in front of them then whine in the post chat.
Bring back the original Mettle of Man, cowards.
-
I'm in the same boat. I never use pieces of flair on survivors or killers. I think they looks ridiculous and have no use for them. It would be nice to unload that yard sale crap.
-
It was always fine. People who play killer and take the game too seriously never shut up about it.
-
I would pay a handsome fee to have the original Mettle of Man back. The one without protection hits. It didn't always work then either but as a solo it was an amazing anti-tunneling perk. That's the only buff I want right now.
-
@Starkalam No I don't mind at all :) If it helps, I always play solo. That's why Kindred is in every build. The information is too valuable, especially if I haven't come across the killer yet. Fun fact, it does counter Insidious because you can see the killer stand still and watch their aura fade.
-
I don't see anything wrong with it. Representation is important. I'm absolutely NOT in the demographic for that. The Trickster looks like a massive nerd to me but he makes other players happy so it's not a problem.
-
I don't disagree with Nurse at all and should be taken care of immediately. However, I used to love playing Freddy and honestly I preferred him before the rework. I just want them to revert him back to that.
-
My favorite solo build is Bond, Kindred, Open Handed, exhaustion of choice. The best counters for any killer is information and stealth. Which brings me to another build, Calm Spirit, Distortion, Iron Will, Kindred. The unnecessary change to Iron Will has caused me to use this far less than I did. It was extremely useful 2 years ago because the in thing for killers was infectious fright and bbq.
I also use Breakdown, Decisive Strike, Flip Flop/Unbreakable/Tenacity, Kindred. With the recent changes I've left DS out and used Flip Flop and Unbreakable together. If the killer is camping or it's an unsafe rescue, I might stay there or run to a corner.
My "I've been camped/tunneled/slugged/all of the above 5 games in a row" build is Breakout, Empathy, Flip Flop, Mettle of Man. I may only get one hit with Starstruck but I'll also have time to build up the meter. It actually works really well but I try not to use this too much because I don't spend much, if any time, on generators. I'll use this until the end of time when the bots are released though.

@GoshJosh said:
It would stay relevant if basekit Borrowed Time didn’t apply in the end game - which it shouldn’t.
Since DS and OTR deactivate there's no protection. I'm not saying a killer shouldn't camp and tunnel when the gates are open but the unhooked survivor shouldn't be punished. It will increase NOED usage I'm sure which makes sense but 20 seconds is solid.
-
For killer I really enjoy using Enduring and Brutal Strength or another perk that helps speed up animations. Before Freddy got reworked I did get a lot of value from Enduring, Brutal, Fire Up, and Blood Warden. I've also replaced Fire Up with Spirit Fury on m1 killers.
For survivor my favorite build used to be Bond, Kindred, Open Handed, and an exhaustion perk. With the MMR change I don't get to have fun with that as much with the tunneling. I've also used Breakdown, Decisive Strike, Flip Flop and Kindred. The logic here is if I'm on the hook and the killer is camping and/or tunneling, it won't be a hook exchange. If they're intimidated and scared of DS then Flip Flop kicks in since it's 3 minutes for the hook to respawn.
-
Feng, Nea, Yun-Jin, Meg, Kate, and Dwight are the ones that people like to pick to be useless in a match. I wish I knew why, but in 5 years of playing that's what it seems like.
-
As another said, you certainly won't get banned but this is also why I don't think much of challenges past the first level. The further you get the more convoluted, arbitrary and ridiculous they get.
-
I've long thought there should be a small, incremental point increase for using character specific perk. 2% for one, 4% for two, 6% for all three. Of course, that means some survivors are left in the cold because their perks aren't that great, sorry Ash.
-
Being allowed to choose maps is a terrible mechanic. I thought the same for Friday the 13th. No one needs to stack the deck that much in their favor. Random chance is always fair.

How could the devs enforce a comm ban? However players would connect with each other, be it Discord or Xbox Live or whatever, any such app is outside of their control entirely.
I agree. Expecting anyone to use the honor system for 20 minutes is too much to ask. Hopefully no perks allowed would help mitigate that a little bit.
-
@GamerEzra said:
It 100% is. Survivors get another perk for free. Dbd has always been survivor sided and I don't think that will ever change.
You're half right. It's SWF sided. Look at the recent Tweet on the right side. BVHR hitched its wagon to obnoxious streamers and their followers.
-
I'd like to add to make sure it's fair, if the survivors are inside the gate when they're open, the same point deduction should apply when not in a chase. I also hate it when they sit there waiting.
-
If BVHR ever creates "competitive" mode, it should be without perks for anyone and no voice comms on Discord or whatever the app du jour will be.
-
Before MMR it was BBQ & Chili. Now that doesn't have as much appeal as it used to. If the killer doesn't have insidious, if they're within 16 meters of the hook the crows should start circling and giving the same noise notification that killers get. After 20 seconds of that, start the point loss counter. If they get a kill from that, it should be treated like a player disconnecting from a few years ago where it doesn't count for anything. The killer would be playing for nothing and wasting their own time.

Right, just deflect everything I said with an immature copypasta.
Not every accurate roast is a "copypasta". Teenagers really do talk in memes all the time.
-
Ash was the last DLC I bought. They waited a month to make sure they got some money and then killed the original Mettle of Man. I can only hope the people paying day one aren't making the complaint threads. You only have yourselves to blame if that's the case.
-
Every match feels like a tedious chore. That chase music got old and annoying for me quickly because every Tom, Dick, Harry, and Jane played Legion for weeks.
-
They've ruined not only my games as killer, but as a solo survivor too. I'm sorry that they can't be alone for 30 minutes but that shouldn't be a license to act like a tool in a video game.
-
"I know this is about survivors needing a reason to keep playing, because their feelings are priority #1"
What a terrible statement. This is where I stopped reading. I can't imagine that long winded drivel got any better. You wrote a dissertation to essentially say you want your feelings to be #1.
That "trusted" tag is just an acknowledgement of volume, not quality.
-
"I didn't get 4 kills/escape on this map so it must be changed because catering to a vocal minority is the most important"
-
@pseudechis said:
I think equating almost anything in DBD to skill is just people padding their fragile egos.
DBD is pretty basic, most "skill" is the result of a bit of map knowledge, some good guess work, RNG, poor balance and a bit of luck. There is very little skill involved.
Remember the less intelligent you are the more you are inclined to attribute any success to your own skill than real factors at play.
Meaning if you are padding your ego by touting your skill, even just to yourself, then maybe you need to put down the video games and pick up a book once in a while.
"Remember the less intelligent you are the more you are inclined to attribute any success to your own skill than real factors at play."
This especially. There's so many players on both sides that pat themselves on the back and yell upstairs to mom that they're the greatest to ever do it and the CEO of video games.
-
You have to cut the killers some slack. They're out of options at that point. Blame the MMR. Just getting one kill isn't at all a measurement of their skill. Insidious camping Leatherfaces sometimes get 4 kills. There's zero skill in that but MMR says it is.
-
It's a valid tactic at that point in the match. It's annoying when it happens to you but the killer really is out of options at that point. If they want to look like a goof running backwards counting down borrowed time that's their business.

Or just accept that it’s part of the game and people are free to play as they please.
It’s not malicious it’s just game play.
Especially when you are going for the 4K sometimes you gotta slug that 3rd when they are on death hook.
Got bled out twice this evening once because I don’t think the killer could find me after I crawled of into a corner. Second time there wasn’t much bleed out timer left after I got slugged multiple times during the match.
GG’s and props all round because it’s only a game and everyone behaved like adults able to separate a fantasy game world from reality.
Sometimes nothing. No one has to do it. As a preemptive strike of sorts, that does apply to survivors who escape with 10,000 points and think they've done something special by clicking the flashlight or teabagging.

I can’t believe you actually think 5 seconds BT is that crucial to your unlimited tunneling
skillsplaystyles. The squeaky wheels got their grease when OTR and DS deactivate when the gates are powered but per usual, enough is never enough. If this game lasts another 10 years it's going to continue to be a sh*t show of buffs, nerfs, and reworks to appease the loud minority.
-
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/342323/whats-your-preference
I love this poll because it has ruffled the feathers of the players who won't own up to slugging one of the last two survivors or stand on the hatch for 4 kills or run every meta perk with their 3 or 4 lackeys on Discord as survivor. That's a way to play but the shoe fits even if you don't want to wear it.
-
A nice surprise would be the bots releasing so I can just relax and have fun.
-
The bots are coming in Q3 which would be October. That's going to be the best and easiest way to play around with different killers and learn their powers.
-
Wow that's a really great idea! Running that with Kindred and Bond as a solo would be extremely beneficial.
-
Cosmetics. The end.

Right now I like it because it's one the only map that hasn't been changed yet. That makes it remind me of when this game was awesome. Same reason I grew attached to the original Haddonfield and why I love Red Forest. The only map changes I liked were to the farms to make them brighter.
This game is the perfect example of a butterfly effect. They change one thing and 10 others get worse and now it's just swirling the bowl.

@Omans said:
I never slug for the 4k and I truly don't understand why people do.
The game is already won. At that point it doesn't even feel like part of the game because the result won't change.
Similar to survivors at the exit gate and killers saying "just leave", killers should "just hook" that third player.
There's this bizarre need to win at all costs. Bloodpoints aren't real currency but to them it might as well be gold or bitcoin or whatever the currency du jour is. To paraphrase, sh*t in one hand and put the 4k from the game in the other and see which one fills up first.
-
This is slightly a strawman because you're assuming they're all the same. I do agree that standing at the exit gate to preen to the delight of no one ranks with a killer shaking their head yes or no at whatever it is they think they're great at.
