Survivors bring Keys with the goal of finding the hatch. It has absolutely nothing to do with Killers face camping. With how fast gens are going now, Keys are ridiculous. The devs pretty much suggested letting certain gens go. Killer expects it, sets up a 3 gen strat and...survivors find the hatch, bust out some tbags, "LOL EZ Baby Killer."

For a good killer, it's a nerf to survivors vs them assuming the totem stays up for longer than 16 seconds.
A good killer (on the maps that aren't the size of the Earth itself) will have much more reward in the form of bought time with the new ruin if they're good at exerting map pressure. Old ruin didn't give pressure except to potato solo survivors.
Old Ruin nullified Great Skill Checks. So it even slowed down experienced survivors. New Ruin is almost a QOL totem where you don't have to kick the gens. Even at tier 3 it only regresses at half the speed a single survivor repairs it.

They wanna nerf pop,thana and some others as they are "obnoxious" when used together
They seem pretty dead-set on nerfing anything Killers do to slow gen speed. The new Ruin already conflicts with Pop, Overcharge, and Surge.

@SunderMun said:
The ruin change buffs solo survivor a bit while actually making ruin have an effect on rank 1 SWF's. Ruin is now better vs these teams, regardless as to whether or not it stays up very long.
Seems like a buff for all survivors. If anything it is weaker against SWF teams because they can tell their teammates they are being forced off a gen and their teammate can hop on it.

The tweet yesterday was wrong. Unbreakable wasnt on there. I got excited for Head on, only to be disappointed...
The Tweet was not wrong. I saw it in game before it was changed. Unbreakable and Head On were in the Shrine.

Queen looked into it and said “it really is random”. It’s somewhere on the forum, but it really is.
Not saying I don't believe you. But if it is random, why do they change it? They did it this week and this isn't the first time.
-
@illusion said:
When was it in the shrine? It wasn't there for me yesterday or today? I'm on PC, is it a PS thing?
It was initially but they changed the Shrine yesterday. Check the Tweet.
-
No. It is fun for survivor, but queues are long. Not fun for Killer.
-
And now the Shrine has been changed...interesting.
-
Ruin was annoying to go against. I get it and agree as someone who usually plays survivor. But there was a reason it was frequently used by Killers and that has not been addressed. Gens are now flying and Killers are forced to slug, tunnel, and camp to win. They cannot get 12 hooks before survivors get 5 gens against competent survivors.

@Watery said:
The shrine is apparently super random.
The same thing happened with BBQ and stuff— it Really is random. We just got REALLY lucky.
I don't know. The incredibly rare frequency of BBQ gives me pause.

Nah. If it was Tenacity though, then I'd be putting my tinfoil hats on.
Unbreakable isn't that hard to get even without the shrine, since Bill is free and everything.
Unbreakable is much better countering slugging than Tenacity. Tenacity is a meme perk. Also you have to get Bill to level 40. So it is quite BP sink if you want it without the shrine.

Calm Spirit.

I'm in the "didn't use it before" camp, so nothing has changed for me. Unless I'm having a really bad match and making a lot of mistakes in my chases, things usually go pretty well.
Do you play anything besides Huntress?

You can get them...

Maybe. Or maybe survivors finally figured out they've been the power role all along.
Toxic survivors have known that for a long time. Without Ruin the floodgates are opened.
-
All the feedback and outrage with the Ruin and they went through with it without even so much as an acknowledgment. Says a lot. Hope those toxic survivors are having fun because that is all that matters.
-
Pretty sure the Spirit hate has died down. People have moved on to Billy hate.
-
Survivor queues are already longer than ever for me. Once the Ruin nerf goes live, I suspect it will get far worse.
-
Well, Nurse and Spirit got significant nerfs. Billy is considered the best killer after them in their prime. Hopefully the nerf stick does not come for him next.
-
Depends how you play it. I see it as permission to hide in lockers and only use it if the killer looks like they are opening mine. Some SWF teams use it to bully. No one likes being bullied.
-
They are worse than ever for me. I suspect it is a combination of the new matchmaking system that goes by the highest ranked survivor in the group and a lack of killers due to the constant nerfs. I think the Ruin nerf was the final straw for a lot of people playing killer.

"until this game starts going down the tubes due to the lack of killers" mate, we've already reached that point. people only play killers now for quick BP or a daily.
Don't disagree, but there are still games to be found at the moment. We are rapidly approaching the point of no return if we have not already reached it.
-
The devs will not even acknowledge it is an issue and are nerfing the perk killers use to deal with the speed of gens. They are not going to listen until this game starts going down the tubes due to the lack of killers, by then it will probably be too late.
-
@sorrowen said:
This matchmaking will be the slow death of DBD its worse then ruin skill checks its actually game breaking. New players and Vets can't have fun because they shouldn't be matched but that is what will happen with this matchmaking.
Agree with everything but the slow part. My survivor queues are longer than ever, killer queues are instant. The effects are happening now.

I honestly don't think they can fix matchmaking that's why they wanna hide it I think. But man I've had friends who play complain about this but seeing it is something else.
They did this to themselves and us by constantly given killers the short-end of the stick. Hope it was worth it.

@AbsolutelyAmel said:
I was not even going for 4k or anything just tryna do this stupid hook basement monstrous shrine challenge
Doesn't matter if you were trying to do a challenge or not. This matchmaking is beyond absurdity.
-
Wow, that is absolutely bogus. No wonder they want to conceal ranks. This game is headed down the same road as Deathgarden.
-
Pretty sure they got a fix coming in not being able to see ranks altogether.
-
@Liruliniel said:
It's because they no longer need Killers. The Killer Bot AI is finally finished. It explains why they wanted the 50/50 Change too.
Would explain why they care so little about the perspective for Killer players. I'm not saying AI is not capable of playing killer, but I doubt it will be good. There is also a thrill about playing against another person, there is a reason multiplayer versus games are so popular.

Some examples after a quick search.

finally, only good killers with skill can get their 4k now. with ruin any baby killer could get 4k's without any real effort. don't listen to the crying killer mains, they never admit, that the kill ratio is above 2.0 , which is too high as an average. they never admit that actually the killers are too op.
survivors got their pallet vacuum, self care, balanced landing, exhaustion, insta heal, DS etc. nerfed already. it's only fair to nerf killers now.
inbefore killer mains crying in this thread.

Peanits said:The hatch isn't perfect, but it is there out of necessity. The alternative of not having a hatch would result in a stalemate where the killer patrols generators and the survivor tries to fix them. If the killer hears a generator being worked on, they'll know the survivor is there. It'll take that solo survivor 80 seconds to repair a single generator, and the killer can easily patrol all the generators in less time. The result is a stalemate where the survivors just going to hide and wait until there's an opportunity to fix a generator, except that opportunity will only come when the killer has gotten bored and given up.
Getting rid of it in theory is great, but in practice, it would not work. The end game will be receiving a rework at some point and the hatch will likely be looked into at the same time.
People have proposed solutions for this several times.
Yes and most of the solutions either won't work, or are impractical and quite often it's simply remove it and give me muh 4k.
Thanks for playing.

What killer are you using?
Do you 4K even against good swf teams?
every map?
care to share a link to your streams?
Where'd they go?

@Falkner09 said:
not nearly as much as survivors. they're buying way more due to the fact they can see their cosmetics. anyone playing the game can see that. Incredibly, they especially like buying the brightly colored cosmetics that make the game harder for them. So it's not surprising they're destroying Doc and Ruin specifically to make the game easier for new survivors, in their own words.
You're not wrong. The problem is they are ignoring the killer's perspective altogether.
-
Glad this guys perspective is the only relevant one. Nothing wrong with the Ruin changes. Move along good Fog Whisperers.

You sure will. As if playing killer is not stressful enough. "Doing a pretty good job."

Some people think you are being hyperbolic. I disagree. Killer mains have been taking blows from the devs for awhile now. If they don't revert this change or address gen speed in another way, this game will go down the tubes.
-
What is obsession with saying killers want easy 4ks? I just want a chance to have a fair game that doesn't fly by in a few minutes with survs tbagging at the gates and saying "EZ baby killer" in the chat.

Did this actually take testing for you guys to figure out? Really? Does 3 seconds of being useless after using your supposed anti-loop power sound even remotely balanced? My god..
They have to ask their brown rank survivor test team what timing is most fun to play against. Stay tuned.
-
Less killers means longer queues for survivors. Lobby simulator is not fun for survivors. As the enjoyment of survivors is the devs top priority, they will have to respond to make sure survivors have fun.
Suppose you keep playing killer and not spending money. Survivors will still have games and they will be tbagging you at the exit gates with their freshly bought duds. Survivors are having fun and buying cosmetics, mission accomplished.
-
This happens all the time in business. Alienate your established customer base while chasing new customers in the hope that the number of new customers will far outweigh what you lost. Usually does not end well. Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

@Fibijean said:
They have actually confirmed that they're already aware that the cooldown is not working, and are planning to change it. It's not everything, but it's something.
It's a few steps in the right direction when they need a mile.
-
Maybe if more than a few killers were viable and not left to rot in low-tier, you wouldn't be having this problem.
-
@Eleghost said:
I feel people aren't as much upset/mad about ruin getting changed, but are more upset with the fact that the actual issue of why it was being used so often did not get addressed in anyway. I really can't begin to understand how they came to conclude that the frequency of Ruin was caused by killers wanting their gatekeeper emblem to be a higher tier.
The fact they cited that is beyond absurd. I cannot grasp the logic there. How could people possibly have so little understanding of their own game. I will say why because it seems someone has to. Killers run Ruin so they have enough time to win the game and so the survivors don't all leave in 5 minutes.

Guess ghostface was just an illusion, so was Spirit and Oni
Those affected "survivors fun." Try to keep up.
-
PTB is more of an illusion of control, where you think your opinion matters before the changes go live. Unless of course, it affects "survivors fun."
-
I have lost all faith in the devs. We are pretty much in a BIzarro World when it comes to this game. Logic has been thrown out the window. Ruin is overused in Red Ranks, lets balance around Brown Ranks. Their laser focus on "survivor fun" is incredibly destructive to the game itself.

First of all, I covered that in my post. Secondly your point was that the change was because survivors "not having fun". If you are really defeding the broken version in the PTB right now, you are too biased to even have an argument with.
And of course, you are the beacon of impartiality. No, you didn't not cover it in your post. When it was clear the devs need to fix him, they decided to take a pro-survivor stance and nerf him into oblivion instead of a pro-killer stance of leaving him as is. The devs top priority is the fun of the survivors. If you disagree with that, you are not paying attention.

He could literally 180 with his one shot ability making him nearly uncounterable if he was somewhat experienced. Not changed correctly at the launch but its in a really good spot now with the PTB, so not a good example.
Over a month of him being a Dollar General Hillbilly. It's a great example.
