It's not included because they don't care. Their brown rank test team found it "more fun" to play against. End of story.

It was newbie bully perk. You will need to get over it.
People will get over it by not playing killer. Then you can wait in a lobby for 30 minutes muttering to yourself about how people "didn't get over it."
-
They have to make sure survivors are having fun. During the last PTB, survivors screamed "ONI NOT FUN!" BHVR was quick to respond. By quick, I mean 10 days after he went live.
-
They could always go back to old Surveillance. Talk about a dud perk.

I'm a survivor main, only play killer occasionally for fun (I love Michael) and dailies, but I think this ruin change sounds awful. The argument seems to be it will be useful late game. Devs need to watch some matches and see how long ruin lasts til the end of matches, because it is rare.
Ruin was never great anyway, but it helped killers get a start. Especially ones like Trapper, Hag, Michael who need the early game to power up.
Brown rank survivors don't know where totem spawns are or even what totems do. So totems will last to the end game. Balancing around brown ranks just works.
-
Hmmm. I don't see any direct mention of survivors having fun. Irrelevant post.

Wasting your breath, they've already decided. Only thing to do is quit the game and let it die. I don't think they can rebuild their killer base from scratch, not on a game this old.
What are you talking about? They can get new killers from the hypothetical influx of new players. I mean what is more fun than learning killer in this game. Getting bullied with flashlights, fast-vaults to make noise, and tbagging. What fun!
-
I thought you were going to say keep doing what they are doing.
-
Sorry.
-
Somehow this triple posted.
-
Sure, they can rework Surge.
"Due to Survivor's struggling with Surge regressing multiple generators, Surge now increases gen progress by 10% on all uncompleted generators on the map."

I'm willing to admit that I may have very well been mistaken on the Doctor being buffed. The changes we have learned about since the initial explanation (plus the leaked patch notes) now lead me to believe he is overall getting nerfed. Obviously could be wrong on this, but for now I have thus switched stance from Doc being overall buffed to being overall nerfed.
It is pretty clearly a nerf. Doctor cannot do anything for 3 seconds after a shock, including hit or even shock again. Also the survivors aura will no longer be shown to him with a regular shock, only when madness tiers up. If you shock a survivor behind a wall, you will only know you hit them by his laugh.
-
I think lots of people will take a break from killer, perhaps permanent. You'll know when you are sitting in a lobby and one of your friends recommends playing something else because you have been waiting for a game for 20 minutes.
-
@TheBean said:
So basically you clarified the reason why Ruin is being changed.
Hitting great skill check isn't so much an issue for better / high rank players.
Ruin helped slow down the game. For whom? The high skilled players who are hitting the Great Skill Checks?
--
So you see now why it is being changed?
It also meant high-rank survivors could not blaze through gens with the great skill check bonus.

nice of you to tell me how i'll feel. honestly why did you even waste your time typing this? the stupidity is boundless in this forum.
Big words from someone who doesn't understand capitalization.
-
No doubt in my mind. They have a Survivor 1st mindset. The Killer experience is a distant 2nd.

Amen. I am not sure how the rework of Doctor makes him a better killer to play or play against.
The only objective was to make him more fun to play against. He doesn't seem to be any better or worse, aka still low-tier.
-
I watch high level killers stream quite a bit. It is incredibly effective. Not only as an anti-tunneling perk, but as a license to play recklessly after an unhook.
-
I think enough people will stop playing killer that the devs will be forced to listen. The question is, will it be too late?

@Almo said:
New Ruin is extremely powerful late game. It must be a Hex Perk, or it would be OP as hell.
It will be cleansed by late game.

Missed the joke.
The sentiment is common enough it is hard to tell.

@Mc_Harty said:
Ranks really don't matter now folks.
Ranks do matter. Try not playing survivor for a bit. Eventually you will be deranked to brown. Play with survivors who constantly blow gens and go down immediately when the killer finds them. It is either them or survivors that literally hide the entire game hoping for the hatch. Then tell me ranks don't matter.
-
It's pretty obvious this is to cover up bad matchmaking. It is like a professor who does not allow you to review the test you took because it was poorly written.
-
@Boss said:
Heard that before.
Honestly, it feels different this time. The complete lack of regard the devs give the killer experience is downright blatant. Today it was shown in their actions and words. If people stop playing killer, this game dies. Simple as that.

Isn't that the guy, who tested Wraith in red ranks about a month ago for about 20 games and he managed to 4k in ALL those games and didn't pip only in 1 of those games because of a "god loop"? LMAO This game is sooo "survivor sided", can't stop laughing.
Some people need a reality check.
He is quite literally one of the best killers who play this game. The equivalent would be bringing up Noob3 escaping 50 times in a row. Clearly neither of them represent the average player.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
nope most killers will leave the game for a week then come back as usual lol
I don't think so. Being bullied by SWF is quite literally the worst gaming experience I have had. The fact it will become even worse is sure to keep people away.
-
It is absolutely astonishing how little the devs understand their own game. Killers use Ruin so all the gens aren't done in 3-5 minutes, not because of an emblem. Probably didn't have to say that, but I'm trying the help the devs out.
-
Doesn't matter what people say in this thread. Killer numbers are already low. This change will absolutely crater them.

How are the changes to doctor a nerf? being able to shock and hit without having to change stances seems pretty good to me. Maybe static blast could make use of an small tweak.
They just added a pause between when the Doctor shocks and can swing. Check the new notes. It will likely just as difficult to shock and hit now.

Not far off to be honest.

I like Otz, but he is being a bit too hopeful here. There is nothing positive about this change for killers.

@toxicmegg said:
the game isn't completely killer or survivor sided.. but yes, this game has been favoring killers a bit more. of course they won't admit it, because they want to have easy 4k every match and if they have one match that doesn't go in their favor, they will complain and ask for nerfs.
Your name isn't doing you any favors.
-
Step 1: Obliterate the perk that made killer playable at mid to high levels. Nerf an already weak killer.
Step 2: Call Killer players toxic when they get upset.
2000 IQ
It's like sabotaging a government program and saying it is ineffective.

No, a necessity to patch bad game design.

Ok, i calmed down (after a bit) and started thinking about this ruin nerf.
I see many ppl wanting to start mori, slug, facecamp... lets just say "being mean" to survivors during the ptb.
Now, devs do PTB to see if the changes they made are ok and working.
First, i'm pretty sure that a barrage of 4k after the ruin nerf wont make the devs think "well, yes, this nerf is too much, we should revert it" they will probably think it is not enough...
Second, wile there are survivor main who think killers will just keep playing happly, i see there are many other who understand the situation.
My 2 cents are simple, lets see how it goes, i belive that if the devs see this change literally bombing the statistics, like if after the change every survivor escape every match, they are going to rethink the change, if instead nothing change, maibe this will turn out to be just a little nerf, not something terrible.
Lets just wait for the ptb and see how things change.
Also, to all who cry for survivor sided game... yes, everybody know that, deal with it.
Killers will deal with for sure. By not playing killer. Then survivors can enjoy lobby simulator with their $10 duds.
-
Not exactly rocket science to see why this will end badly. Think about it. A Ruin perk that excels in the late game, you know, when it will already be cleansed. Not to mention they did not even acknowledge the reason people play with ruin.

I play on Xbox and pc and have the same problem on both platforms yet i can find a survivor game in like 30 seconds while killer a game takes like 20 minutes anyone else have this problem?
What rank are you? Makes a huge difference due to the fact the group is matched by the highest rank survivor. If you are a low-ranked killer it takes quite a long time to find matches.
-
That was point. It is meant to burn you out so you buy tiers. That is the battle pass model and why so many of us were dismayed when they added it.

Well actually.. (jk)
It seemed like you were trying to dismiss what I had to say, as all you commented on was the norm of solo survivor being mostly frustrating. I put “personal” in italics to express that this isn’t a post about solo survivor in general.
I had no intention of being an ass or anything like that, so I apologize if I offended you.
No worries. I apologize if I offended you as well. I was not trying to be dismissive.

You mistook my perspective as not having read your post. Seemed to really set you off. Put "personally" in italics. Who does that? Screams of someone who often starts sentences with "Well actually..."

Wraith used to be one of the weakest; now he is actually pretty good, Imo.
He is good with certain add-ons. If you don't have said add-ons he is low-tier. Killers should be judged on their base-kit. I do not believe killers should be dependent on add-ons, unfortunately, the devs are completely going in the other direction.
-
It seems too thought-out (not well-thought-out) and extensive to be a troll post. Imagine coming up with reasoning to nerf one of the weakest killers in the game.
-
On the bright side, the survivors seemed sympathetic. So you got that going for you.

Yep, and I was relaying my personal experience(s) and the general consensus of solo survivor with a small dose of sarcasm. You are way to set off by this. I'm sure you are a blast to hang out with.

Tho I can say that it will be difficult to nerf a curtain rank without hurting the others. The balance of this game is difficult to make, but people don't care about how difficult their jobs are, just imagine how difficult it is
Balancing gen speed is a difficult task, no doubt. The fact they don't acknowledge the issue however means they won't make any progress.
-
You make it sound as if having a frustrating day as a solo survivor is an anomaly. Pretty par for the course.

You have a point there professor, yes in high ranks gens get done with a high speed, but if they nerf gen speed then how are the lower ranks survivors supposed to keep up?
Still that is my opinion :)
That is something the devs need to figure out. Sadly, it seems they will just keep ignoring the issue while pumping out more cosmetics.

Killers do the same.
In 2016 it was complaints of infinites and no exhaustion sprint burst. Fast forward 2019 and its keys and looping.
Pewdiepie talked about this recently in regards to his subreddit. Its something that's more related to human nature in general. Once people become accustom to something they complain about its short comings because they want something different.
The grass is always greener on the other side I guess.
You are using absurd references. The way you address killers complaining about non-exhaustion sprint burst and infinite loops makes it seem unjustified. I suppose permanently sabotaged hooks were okay with you too. Nothing wrong with killers only having the basement hooks to work with. You try to sound scientific, but it is just a facade to cover up your obvious survivor bias.
