Hopefully the DC penalties will deter them. I rarely see killers DC when they are having a bad game or the survivors are doing something they don't like. It happens sure, but survivors DC at much higher levels. Survivor entitlement is absurd in this game.

Clown and Wraith have excellent skins.
I agree. Clown's Pulcinella skin is especially cool. Too bad they are 2 of the worst killers in the game.
-
Awesome skin, but maybe they should make Clown remotely viable before releasing another $10 cosmetic for him.

I agree, the penalty should apply to anyone who disconnects at any point. It's possible that that is what they meant by "early", as in "leaving the game early", and just worded it badly. But if not, that's how it should operate. Any point before the match actually ends is too early to disconnect.
Survivors who are removed from the game should not be obligated to stay until the match ends.
-
Outdated is probably the best description for him I have heard. Seems like the game was meant to be more dynamic. There are 3 survivor perks that target him specifically (Slippery Meat, Small Game, and Sabo). His power can be completely negated by survivors saboing his traps. He has to run around the map finding his traps, while survivors work on gens, and he can be hindered by his own power by stepping in traps.
-
I don't even understand why you were paired up with this group. The level discrepancy is pretty high. Judging by your score, seems like you played pretty fair and hooked them multiple times. Too bad people like this exist. Very little doubt it is a SWF group, bullying is contagious among them. To top it off, the devs do absolutely nothing about it.

I highly doubt they will be taking care of anything.

I don't understand why so many killers are afraid of SWF. You all act like the second you get a 4 man SWF, which may I made is really rare, you automatically lose the game.
Learn to play better, learn to adapt. Sure SWF does have an advantage to solo survivors I'm not going to deny that, but it doesn't mean they're not possible to kill. If anything SWF is a lot easier to snowball in my experience as they're usually way too altruistic.
One thing that I always remind people of is their good experiences. How many SWF have you really had a super bad time with? Maybe a couple? How many good games have you had? Dozens if not hundreds? Remember the good games, not the bad ones. Learn from the bad ones instead of dwelling and yelling for changes.
I wouldn't say "afraid." But if you do not understand why it can be a miserable experience, you probably haven't played killer much. "Learn to play better" is far from helpful.
It happens more than enough to be an issue. Not to mention games against toxic SWF can REALLY stick with you.

We all stop camping, slugging, tunnelling, mass body blocking, flashlighting at pallets and teabagging at exit games.
For a start.
In what reality will people ever stop doing this on their own? This kind of stuff only changes with dev intervention.

Should probably leave the mask on.

SWF doesn't do anything besides letting people enjoy games with their friends. Instead of asking the devs to do something, just outsmart an SWF. If you know how to end loops and apply pressure to gens, then SWF groups shouldn't be able to change the game that much. I took out a 4 man SWF as Myers with scratched mirror. Not a single gen was done that match, and I didn't tunnel or camp.
Information SWF has access to that solo survivors do not
- Location of the killer (especially if there is a OoO) and what they are doing
- Which a survivor is being chased
- When it is safe to work on gens
- Where the killer is headed after a survivor is hooked, you can also see if they have things like BBQ (pretty obvious if the killer rotates around after a hook)
- Who is going for the save, who can work on gens
This is just off the top of my head.
If your Myers game was not on one of the indoor maps, you went against some pretty poor survivors.

Well, yes. But the whole "git gud" thing is kinda getting old and annoying.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/861438#Comment_861438
And yes. The main thing is though with those toxic Survivor groups is that we as a community need to look internally and start working on that issue. Not relying on the devs to come up with a solution for us.
How do you propose "we as a community look internally?" There is no internal governing player body or unified community, nor mechanism for such. If the devs allow people to toxic, there will always be ones who take advantage of it. This is the devs problem to fix.

Killers required to git gud and realise that not every game is meant to end in a 4k?
And not every game end with toxic survivors bullying the killer. There needs to be a middle ground. Unfortunately, it does not appear the devs are doing anything about it.
-
I had 2 salty SWF do this one time as well. It was on one of Macmillian maps too. Really needs to be a way to locate survivors if they do nothing for a few minutes.
-
Devs are quite silent on SWF. It is obviously a problem. The solution would be buffing solo survivors and giving them communication options, then you could buff the killers around survivors communicating. I don't think it will happen though. We are more likely to get more intrusive microtransactions than even an acknowledgement of a big problem.

Because more people have to deal with playing against Spirit than playing AS Doc. If you dont like Doc, you have the choice of picking someone else, but people playing AGAINST Spirit dont have the choice of picking another opponent, bar DC of course.
Nerf Myers into oblivion? You don't HAVE to play Myers.
Nerf Billy into oblivion? You don't HAVE to play Billy.
Nerf Huntress into oblivion? You don't HAVE to play Huntress.
Pretty questionable logic you are using there.

When the hatch gets closed for the last survivor and the doors are close to each other, the survivor legit has no chance of escaping without a key. They need to let the survivor actually have a chance of escaping instead of giving the killer a free kill every hatch closing because the doors spawned right next to each other.
No. The hatch being closed and powering the gates is the THIRD chance for a survivor to escape. You failed to power all 5 gens, you failed to get to the hatch first, why should the third chance be anything but a long shot?
-
Key should allow the 1 survivor with the key to exit before closing immediately, not triggering the EGC, back to how it was before. Either that or remove them. Not cool allowing an entire team to escape that way.

BHVR should honestly link players DBD account to the forums. I would like to know how many hours that person put into this game before making an opinion on balancing, gameplay, etc.
Its not much to ask, Iw'd just be more interested on a person who put in over 1.5k hours than someone with around 100 hours.
People getting banned from this forum all the time. Do you REALLY want that linked to an account that has 100s -1000s of hours and 100s of dollars? Think a little deeper.

Honestly this argument is stupid. There a reason why people who get into Harvard don't go to community college. There's a reason people spend thousands on sports cars when they can take a bus. Theres a reason why people wait in line to get in a club. Exclusivity is valued by humans, like it or not. And unless you are a complete socialist, I'm sure there are some exclusive things in your life that you don't share with others.
Exclusivity is valued by humans because of scarcity. There are only so many spots at Harvard or the club. More cannot be made without significant resources. That does not mean we should promote the completely artificial scarcity that comes with digital items. Your comparison with socialism is absurd.

I am supporting BHVR in this case mainly because so many people call this battle pass predatory and it is not. They made it completely optional and even have a free rift which will also show your progress on the paid rift if you choose to unlock it. The fact that they let you wait until the end to unlock it and still gives you all of your rewards is the opposite of predatory.
I also am not trying to belittle anyone, maybe just giving some life advice that you shouldn't take any company's word for anything, just do some homework and make informed decisions.
You are completely ignoring the psychological manipulation that comes with this kind of monetization. Is there an option to just turn off the battle pass? No, it is shoved in your face at the end of every game. Multiple pieces of the same outfit are far apart. The rift is incredibly grindy to complete. What is the goal here? They want you to not only pay for the rift, but pay for the tiers. That is the entire objective of a battle pass.

Yet again I’ve been having a miserable experience as killer at Rank Reset. Every rank reset makes me question why I play this game because the survivors are dirty rotten d-heads.
So much for the power role. And the devs do absolutely nothing to deter this toxic bullying behavior.

Rank reset. Just played killer and ran into some incredibly toxic SWF. Going to admit, they got to me. I don't blame killers for dodging if they suspect that garbage.
-
Objection of Obsession (OoO) is supposed to be to be a risk/reward perk. You can see the killer but the killer can see you. If one person on a SWF team runs it, they can tell the whole team what they know. Where you are, what you are doing, etc.

This new matching system really screwed things up in the killer wait department. If you are a low-tier killer in the Brown or Yellow ranks, you are going to be waiting a long time because the matching is now dependent on the highest ranked survivor.
-
I fully expect this to become the new norm.
-
The sound of survivors screaming is absurdly loud, not mention completely unnecessary. Also, according to the lore, each of the survivors have probably been hooked thousands of times. Should probably have a tolerance by now.

and I agree with them - lets make sprint burst base kit, self care, hell lets do it so all the survivors can see all the totems, all the generators, all the team mates, the killer and chests every single game as base kit. Cos that'll improve the game ofc - I think people asking for basekit stuff to be added to the survivors should learn to be good at the game with no perks at all then add them on - they are there to give you "some" assistance in your fight against evil ! If I had my way thre would be no perks at all
You are completely disregarding that certain perks are far better than others. More importantly, you are disregarding that certain perks become unnecessary in SWF because that information is readily available on comms. Far more information is available to SWF, that is not up for debate. Maybe you should think that through before telling people to "learn to be good at the game."

It cant be a horror game for survivors without elements of uncertainty and unpredictability.
Dont like those concepts? Don’t play horror games.
Your logic is absurd. This game is not scary. It is a competitive asymmetrical game with a horror coating.

Dunno exactly. A start would be base kit Kindred that shows survivor auras only when someone's on the hook. Players dying on their first hook is something I see constantly in my matches.
Adding a totem counter to Small Game would be helpful. Not even asking for that to be base kit, which for SWF it basically is.
Giving some sort of BP bonus to Borrowed Time would be nice. It's a strong perk when survivors bother to run it, but usually I'm the only one who ever does, so then I'm the one who dies because they unhook me in the killer's face. Something like a BP bonus might encourage selfish solo survivors to run it.
They were strongly considering making Kindred base kit. But then, they brilliantly came to the conclusion that "perks should never be base kit." And instead, proceeded to do absolutely nothing at all.
So yes, if you want your fellow solo survivors to have something even remotely close to what SWF has, you must use an entire perk slot.
So much wrong with this game, where simple fixes could go a long way. What do we get instead? A Fornite-style battle pass.

I personally like having some grind, it gives me incentive to play. I don't want a handout, and I want the items to have some meaning to them. Just my thoughts.
Everyone likes a good grind. Games like Diablo were made on it. However, once using real money is option to skip it, the grind becomes compromised. The game maker has every incentive to make it as long and tedious as possible to get the player to spend real money.

@ProfessorDunwich Oh I’m sorry that I am human capable of making mistakes.
Then don’t 99% and just have your team work with you and do them one by one.
It's absolutely absurd anyone would try to justify this. One person doing gens while everyone else does nothing but tries to get the killer's attention. And if you are solo? The challenge is quite literally impossible.

What do you expect, free stuff?

Pretty much. Every tier you don't complete and ever vial you miss out on is the potential for you to spend money. Maybe you will accept you won't get it, but plenty of others will shell out of the complete the set. That is the point of battle passes, they want you to pay for the tiers.

Step 1 Team up in a SWF match.
Step 2 Tell them what you plan on doing.
Step 3 repair 4 gens and leave them at 99%.
Step 4 tap each one and you got your 4.
I think you missed the part where it says "completely." If you are going stand up for this absurdity, at least read through it.

It's a team in the same way wrestling is a team sport. Yes, you can have a team win. But your individual win will be what you focus on. In the end it doesn't matter how your team does. It only matters how you do. The rest of the survivors are canon fodder for your win.
I should note I don't actually play in a manner treating them as such. But your win doesn't require them to also win.
How you do is significantly dependent on your teammates. You get points for doing gens. If you teammates go down immediately and do not keep the killer occupied you are not going to make much progress. You get points for altruism. If your teammates suicide on the hook or immediately get downed after being unhooked you are going to be limited in saves and healing points. You get points from running from the killer. If they have no reason to give up on chasing you, it does not matter how good you are. And of course, surviving. Survivors getting hooked is part of the game. If you are not unhooked it's game over.
If you had no teammates, you might get a gen done and lead the killer on a nice long chase. That is it and you will depip or safety pip at best.

They need each other to succeed. But he's technically right. It's not a team game. Unless you que with a friend. It's four people working toward a common objective. If it were a team game all the survivors interests would align. But we all know that's not the case.
Top definitions from Dictionary.com.
1) a number of persons forming one of the sides in a game or contest
2) a number of persons associated in some joint action
The 4 survivors in a game fit both of those. DBD is a team game for survivors, no question. If BHVR did more to increase communication between solo survivors, I think it would be more obvious.

I'm not sure what planet you are on. Survivors absolutely need each other to succeed. Not even sure why I am explaining something so obvious.

DC'ing when the killer camps you will not teach the killer not to camp. If you stay on the hook and struggle till the last possible second you will allow your teammates to complete a lot of gens. THIS is how killers learn that camping is not a good strategy. If you DC you're only screwing the other survivors and making the killer's life easier. The more you know!
You don't get any points for staying on the hook. So solo survivors don't care. Many of us have recommended survivors get points for staying on the hook to give them some incentive. Clearly that has not happened.

I try to play well for the most part as survivor when I do the challenges. As killer, I don't care, I'll do whatever I want. If I want to chase crows around Lery's like a two-year-old, then that's what I'll do. I've never had survivors complain when I meme around, pretending to work on gens as Pig; this is no different.
This why players can't be trusted to play properly and any wiggle room the devs give them will be used. If there was a killer who went around with an instadown sawed-off shotgun that is all we would see.

@oxygen said:
Personally I don't really mind (at least the Tier 1 challenges) as I'm the kind of player that would randomize my loadout and stuff if I start to get bored, so having specific little challenges that might require a different playstyle is fine. But then again I'm not a player that's extremely competitive and concerned about consistency. I've seen some people have fun with the "scare crows" challenge too, names like "crow disturber" and a Myers that protected a rock where 3 crows landed while a survivor tried to run over to scare them before him when they landed 😄
Only thing I'm worried about is that if the later "do in one match" challenges get too ridiculous people might just DC/suicide if they realize they won't be getting that do X gens solo or trap Y survivors in one match challenge to move onto another game, sorta like how survivors would just die on hook after sucking the flowers dry in that one event.
Didn't even think of that one. Strongly suspect people will DC when they won't complete their challenge. That combined with no consequences for DCing is a bad combo.
-
@thrawn3054 said:
You don't deserve gen grabs. If they're not paying attention they get grabbed. Spine Chill doesn't change that. All it does is give a consistent effect. As for the rise in people running Spine Chill. You can blame the Spirit players for that.
If Spine Chill lights up consistently you know to get off the gen. Many gen grabs are done from coming around a corner, something "paying attention" does little to help with.
They did something similar to Doctor, when they made Snapping Out of It no longer visible with Nurse's Calling. They took a weak killer and made him even worse in the name of "consistency."

Sounds like a typical knee-jerk doom and gloom reaction. These challenges are no different from dailies. Except, they can only do one at a time. While some may end up getting themselves killed (and others) in the process, the majority are going to play as usual. I did a couple of challenges from the rift, but I didn't go out of my way to complete them. If they happened, they happened. Comparing the real thing to the PTB experience is ridiculous. Of course everyone on there is going to go crazy as they had less than a week.
YOU did not go out of your way to complete them. I'm pretty sure you are the exception. I think a large amount of the player base will engage in the challenges. Even if you did not want to, it is tough to avoid when you are having them shoved in your face. They cover up the after game chat. Whatever challenge someone activates will be their top priority for the overwhelming majority.
-
I noticed a high amount of hook suicides yesterday as well. Not your typical ones, where someone gets downed immediately. I'm suspecting they did it because they finished their challenge. I expect this to only worsen.
