BHVR didn't say they were going to give Twins a better option than slugging. It's possible they are just going to heavily nerf slugging, so that Twins are forced to not slug as much. Or maybe they'll heavily nerf slugging, and give Twins a tiny buff somewhere else, and try to tell everyone that Twins are "more fun to play" now.
Victor can't pick up survivors, which is why Twins are forced to slug so much. And if BHVR nerfs slugging, but doesn't give Twins a fair alternative (e.g. Victor can pick up survivors), then Twins will be unfun to play, and much worse than they are currently.
That’s exactly what I think they will do. Glad others see it too. With Trickster it was he is faster and has no recoil, but now throws paper airplanes. Fun!

Options will be increasingly limited as Killers continue to be gutted. Huntress next.
That very much remains a possibility and it is concerning. Freddy, Hillbilly and Deathslinger learned the hard way what can happen to a character and I really don't want Huntress players to go through that.
The absolute disregard and perhaps disdain for the Killer experience is quite troublesome. They really seem to not care about the people who main Killer.

Ignore demo, huntress and hag, but clown, doctor and pig really needed it.
Singularity getting a killer update is nice although I have a feeling it's because he's the new 3 gen killer after skull merchant got her rework.
That is exactly why I think they are moving to the Singularity. All 10 folks who have put time in to master him can kick bricks.
-
It’s cool. They are going to make more Killers trash-tier with the old Billy/Trickster treatment.
-
It’s a business move to entice new players (probably need more of them) who will hopefully spend big on cosmetics. People need to stop acting like this is charity.
-
@Xendritch said:
So who wants to tell them Trickster is actually worse now?
Not many. Seems denial is the order of the day.
-
The big risk of pre-dropping is running out of pallets for all Survivors later in the game. With the speed of gens now, it’s not really an issue and they can be used with relative abandon.

I remember killers insisting that being injured/one hit down during the MFT era "wasn't a risk," yet the popularity of a perk that literally makes a survivor a one hit down proves that was a lie.
One of the most blatant straw-men I have seen.

I really like Knight’s actually, really nails the medieval gothic horror vibe.

I know it's off-topic but i never saw that much Freddy posts before. A lot people are asking BHVR to fix him and make him great again.
How you are feeling about that much people loves him and wants him back.
People have been waiting for him to be fixed for awhile and I think seeing him nowhere on the upcoming roadmap ruffled some feathers. That is at least 6 months for even the faint possibility of changes.
-
It focuses on losing chases. Not something a Killer these days has the time to make part of their standard play-style.
That said it is not bothersome for Survivors. I don’t expect to receive anything but the most minimal number adjustments.

Such a telling quote here.

First DBD thing that has scared since Myers first yanked me off a gen ages ago. Strong work.
-
Funny how we are thinking of all these bizarre potential Huntress changes because there are not clear things about her that should be nerfed or buffed. You can talk about add-ons but her core power is balanced in a way that most Killers dream of. Yet here we are. She doesn’t need a buff and BHVR has been nerf happy with Killers. Writing is clear.

No clue. Maybe give her a penalty if she's near the hook, clearly camping. They might ot touch her ability to camp, who knows. I'm just tired of all the over dramatizing.
Also, i wanted to apologize if I came across as agressive - I've had a bad day and took it out on the forums.
No worries, happens to the best of us. Hope things get better.

@Hex_Ignored said:
My best guess is that they'll probably start removing insta down add ons, which would explain why she's in the same update as clown.
It says in the roadmap Blight add-ons are bring adjusted. Suggesting every other Killer on there is having their core power affected.

I just don't care as much as you do. Killers certainly aren't these huge victims, and they're probably just touching her camping ability. I just prefer to see what they do before having a mental breakdown over a video game character. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong - but it certainly isn't a disaster, it's a couple pixels on a screen.
I'm just tired of everybody caring so much. This game used to be fun.
How would you nerf her camping ability without adversely affecting her power?
-
@NomiNomad said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3603797#Comment_3603797
No, because they said Tricker as getting more than just a 'little tweak."
This forum and it's disaster complex, jesus.
If you want to parse words, they never said Huntress is getting a “little tweak.”
That said you are taking vague PR wording over a proven track record which you choose to ignore. A disaster indeed.
-
@NomiNomad said:
BHVR already said that the 'tweaks' just mean number changes, nothing major. I very, very much doubt she'll be made 115%
Would you have said the same thing about Trickster a couple months ago? He just got some number changes despite an incredible nerf.
Best predictor of what BHVR will do is what they have done before, the more recent the more informative.
I’m hoping I have egg on my face in a few months, but I think there is a good chance I won’t.
-
@Gabe_Soma said:
Probably something about her camping ability
That is my thought too. She can camp outside the unhook radius, so they will butcher her whole power.

2 hatchets for a health state? No way everyone would stop playing it
They decreased Trickster’s throw rate AND the number of knives need to remove a health state. On top of this, the laceration meter drains FASTER.
His power is now reserved for throwing at tbagging Survivors after they crushed an M1 Killer.
This is the same group who will be adjusting Huntress.
-
@Leachy_Jr said:
They've said theyre gonna change his throw speed, while I hope they do add back the ramp up mechanic it's probably not gonna happen since it was also tied to recoil and movement speed reduction which is gone.
Exactly. I expect a negligible “buff” and him to be left in the trash heap with Freddy, Trapper, and Clown.
-
I do not think they will be buffed. Given the past history, I expect things Survivors dislike will be nerfed. In this case, Static Blast and Pink Bottles.
Static Blast will likely have an increased cool done and perhaps Shock Therapy will require a recharge.
Pink Bottles will probably have decreased slow and vision impairment.
Probably get some worthless buff like 0.5% Haste on Sundays so it won’t be considered a total nerf. Doc joins Clown, Freddy, and Trapper in trash tier.

How unfortunate.
I've yet to meet a Trickster main, but if what happened to him was anything like Freddy, Billy and Slinger, then my solidarity extends to them.
BHVR is looking into it, so I’m sure who it will be handled soon…in a cosmic time frame.

Did he get gutted like the others?
I honestly don't know.
He just did with the most recent patch.

@Mandy said:
Tweaks refers to small adjustments to a killer rather than a complete overhaul to their power. The tweaks could be either buffs or nerfs or a mixture of both, but they are still small adjustments.
Even if they are small adjustments they would not be done if they were not impactful to some goal. What that goal might be is a mystery to players of this game.

Hades was made by Supergiant games not supermassive. Supermassive are narrative game designers. Latest game they made was The Quarry.
The Quarry was a game of all time. My disappointment is immeasurable.

I had reason to say this elsewhere too, but it bears repeating: BHVR's recent track record is good, not bad. The recent track record would be... I think the earliest back you'd go for recent would be the Ghostface and Legion changes, so you'd add in Trapper, Sadako, and Skull Merchant for an actual update and Huntress/Trickster/Deatshlinger for "tweaks" as they say in the roadmap. Then after that you get Trickster's current update, which is the first actual example of a negative change in recent memory.
Now, how much those other changes actually helped may be up for debate, but neutral changes are not the same as negative ones.
So, is it too much to ask for some reassurance? Yeah, actually. BHVR should not act like they are under inherent suspicion of terrible changes, especially not when their recent track record has actually been perfectly decent recently.
This "silence means the answer they think you don't want to hear" thing is just paranoia, and it's pretty baseless. That's not how communication from a video game developer works. ""Silence"" just means they don't consider it priority information to share with the playerbase, for whatever reason. It's not even really silence since there's no expectation for them to speak, it's just the absence of extra information.
None of the changes you listed were good. SM and Legion are just trying to come back from overall poor base designs.
Trapper’s “update is a joke.” After all this time, literal years, he get’s a speed boost after setting traps. He is still trash tier.
Pretty clear we have different opinions on what are good changes. Perhaps keep that in mind before you say I have “paranoia.”
-
Hades was great and DBD has great lore and characters. It has potential.
Not sure why this vid exists though. No gameplay or real details. Seems like it might be a ways off.
EDIT: The fine folks below have informed me Supergiant games did Hades, this dev, Supermassive did Until Dawn and The Quarry. I accept my mistake in this matter but resent the studio names are synonyms.

Clown and Doctor needed their long awaited buffs.
New here I see.
@jesterkind said:
D'you think perhaps the fact that you're getting prematurely mad at the possibility these changes might be nerfs could be the reason they're a little vague about these things?
Besides, I'd imagine there could be a few killers getting both buffs and nerfs, making "tweaks" the simplest way to refer to them. There's no need to get mad or threaten player loss either way, though, we can just wait and see while speculating about what it could be.
The concern they will be made weaker is well known and justified. Why is the Huntress being tweaked? I have yet to see a single good reason from a player perspective.
Given BHVR’s recent track record, I don’t think it is too much to ask for some reassurance. There has been none. Silence usually means the answer they don’t think you want to hear. If I was a Huntress main, I would be quite nervous.

...No. If what you try doesn't immediately land, adjust it first before giving up. This summarises decent live game design in general.
I'm fine with removing Overheat, I just think too many people are under the impression this will change anything. Billy will be in the exact same position as before, and tossing away the time and effort won't actually achieve anything. Keeping it probably won't achieve anything either, so I'm not saying that time and effort was valuable to begin with, but in general you usually don't wanna waste those two things if you can avoid it.
If it doesn’t immediately land perhaps assess why it was done in the first place and maybe see it was a bad idea in the first place.
Overheat does nothing but hamper Billy, thete are no positives. It also stops people from playing him as now you have consider the Overheat while getting timing right.
You brought up perception, exactly. Even if it has no effect mechanically, it has a psychological effect that results in less chainsaw use, especially for people who are learning him.
-
Why do you think? Just throw something out there.
These perks certainly do not make the game more enjoyable other making it last long enough to not get crushed.
-
If it is tunneling or not, who cares. You cannot win against SWF when it comes to perception. They are on comms with their friends and you are a faceless character who they are teaming up against. You will be EZ baby killer with a tbag party or tunneling camping slugging trash killer.
So if someone wants to use their protection hit which they likely know is to prevent tunneling, it’s fair game.

@jesterkind said:
Others have pointed out, Mettle of Man.
I'd say there's not very many because there's been very, very few things that should be reverted. Bad changes are almost always, at least in this game, things that you'd fix by going forward, not going backwards. This is evident in your examples- you don't fix Hillbilly by reverting Overheat, because Overheat isn't actually causing problems, you'd have to move forward. You don't fix Trickster by reverting his changes, because some of them were good and should stay. You don't need to revert or redo Skull Merchant because she's fine now, more or less.
There are other examples throughout the game's history. A big one would be the initial change to the HUD; it started out pretty damn bad, but instead of just reverting it, they moved forward and made it better than both what they had and what they were replacing in the first place.
So if you make a wrong turn, don’t turn around, floor it instead. That seems to summarize BHVR’s philosophy.
And honestly, if Overheat is such a nothing mechanic, remove it.

Not many because people stopped playing him.
-
They cannot even remove Overheat, I suspect because that would be admitting they were wrong.

A haunted mansion (not the Disney one). Different rooms haunted by different ghosts, subtly to not affect gameplay but recognizable if you are looking. Living room painting in the Garden of Joy for example.

Whats ridiculous about that statement?
If you boil the core gameplay down, gens are nothing else for the killer than what hook stages are for survivors.
Survivors don´t waste time on totems, because there simply are no strong hex (or boon) perks right now. Even more, teammates will complain about anyone who does totems instead of gens, since we have the HUD.
Maybe killers are still complaining about gens, because in most matches 2 or 3 gens are finished by the time the killer gets the first hook.
Skill issue. Do better at applying pressure. Killer is easier than it has ever been. I always get 4ks as Trapper without trying.
-
I understand what you are saying. Survivors play in not so nice ways too but they much more subtle, mainly using comms. You cannot even verify this as Killer, meanwhile things such as camping and tunneling are quite obvious.
