  • No offense, but I question the veracity of your assertion that you're a rank 1 killer. You can't stay at rank 1 if you can't deal with the issues you describe. You seem to suggest that you're constantly gen-rushed ending in a 4-man escape. If that were the case, you would derank hard.

    Source: I'm a rank 1 killer.

  • This is an interesting idea. If I understand correctly:

    1. You suggest you can blink as long as you have some power bar left and you can charge only for the maximum of the remaining amount?
    2. Also, the full power bar would equal the sum of charges of the current 2 blinks?

The doubts I have are that:

    1. You would be able to blink several times in succession, which would allow an enormous margin of correction at close range.
    2. You could pull off a 32m single blink (20m+12m, which are the max range of current blinks). If you added range add-ons in the mix, you could potentially blink from outside spine chill range. It seems like a redo of old prayer's beads Spirit for gen grabs.

Assuming I understood correctly, which is far from a given, I would suggest that if this were to be tested, then there should still be a cap of 2 blinks before fatigue and 20m on your first blink. Then the cooldown mechanic would be changed to the meter as you suggested.

  • Spread out, most likely he has infectious freight. Stay away from gens unless he's in a chase. Once his power runs out, he's a m1 killer.

If you're seen, find a long wall and loop him there. He can't catch you with demon dash unless he's got top-knot. He has to chase you normally, but remember that he has still an increased lunge.

You can use lockers as well to tank his hit, but they won't buy you much time, just like with any other killer.

Not even Billy or Huntress? You got balls of steel lol they scare the ######### out of me.

Nah, I'm actually easily scared. It's just that after a while I realize I'm not playing with my real life, just like when I'm playing killer I know I'm not a real big scary dude wielding a sharp weapon.

  • No one. They might make me more focused, or tense because I need to stay on my toes, or even bored depending on the killer. However, fear fades away in this game after the first few tens hours. DbD is not a scary game and fear is not the reason why it had success, while the copycats failed.

  • Every blood web has certain chance to spawn nodes of a certain color. If I'm not mistaken, for example, a P3 50 bloodweb always spawns 6 green, 3 purple, and 0 or 1 pink node.

Now, you need to consider that there are many more possible green unlockables than pink ones. A killer with standard add-on rarity distribution will have exactly 3 possible pink unlockables: 2 add-ons and the ebony mori.

Now, even if, for example, every bloodweb spawns 6 green nodes, there are also many more possible green unlockables in the pool to take those from, such as that they're individual chance of appearing is actually lower than the individual chance of a pink unlockable. That's why every killer can easily observe that ebonies are far more frequent than ivory moris.

It's not the rank but the fact that at any time someone disconnects mid load I lose rank and addons. Rank isnt that bad, but what if I want to try tombstone Myers and only have one of each ultra rare? I have to lose that just because? It's just not fair that I get punished in ANY way for someone dcing midload

If that's what's happening, it must be a bug. If someone else disconnects, you usually lose nothing. Are you sure you aren't maybe loaded into the trial and then get disconnected immediately at the beginning?

  • Why are you necro'ing?

  • It's one of the possible spawns, usually a loop spawns next to it.

  • Survivors don't have specific powers, so there's a lot less synergy that they can create with perks. The meta are meta because they're powerful and because they work against things that killers have as basekit, such as slugging, tunneling, camping.

Fun builds are obviously possible, but they're just that: fun, not best.

  • Oni would make easy work of anyone else and then take Demodoggo as his pet.

  • You can see under his hat if you use stretched res, but he's gonna get you banned for that, mate. A hoondred percent.

  • It's one of the worst challenges. It essentially requires you to be useless. There's an even worse one in level 4 where you have to do the same thing and then escape. I really don't understand the logic, except maybe the devs got carried away with the locker Dwight meme and came up with this.

They checked all the gens within 10 seconds? Please read the initial post

I already did and found it too hyperbolic to be worth going into the minutiae. The farthest gens from the killer are those blocked. Unless it's something like a Billy, or the killer literally spawned in the middle of the map, there's no way they can check a blocked gen within the first 10 seconds on a consistent basis, let alone 5 as the op purported as well.

  • Because they checked the unblocked gens and found no one.

Maybe if enough people complain then they might consider changing it at least? I really don't wanna spend £50 on a new ps4 controller because my X button broke. They should at least give us the option to change it in control settings, that way people who think it's fine can keep it as it is and the people who hate it won't have to deal with it.

Players have been complaining about this since 2016. Did the devs look like they changed it? They keep insisting on that immersion narrative, but it just looks like they've made up their minds and they don't want to admit that they kept a useless mechanic in the game for so long.

  • All survivors have to do is hold a button on a generator and they're through the gates.

This is such an urban legend that it's become a mythical creature at this point. If you're facing rank 20 killers routinely, then maybe that's the case. It's not gonna fly when you verse a red rank killer worth their salt, not even a boosted one like me who goes out of his way to not camp or tunnel and who despises NOED and moris with a passion.

The idea that all that survivors need to do is hold m1 and, when needed, run to pallet/drop pallet/run to next pallet sounds more like the concoction of someone who's really bad at killer and who's never played survivor once without going down in 15 seconds.

  • @MiniPisa said:

Someone suggested struggle should be automatic with a "give up" option - so you can still sacrifice yourself for a teammate and newbs don't die all the time. I highly support it.

^this is the most logical option. Struggle is a delicate mechanic. You don't want rng and outside factors like lag etc. come into play and cause an accidental suicide, because it's a very hefty consequence when a player is removed from the trial. Make it automatic and give the suicide option on second stage. Simple, straightforward and foolproof. No need to overthink this.

There is no such thing as a justified DC. DC's bad. period. That's why it has a penalty. In your case waiting a few more seconds of an animation would make no difference.

However 1 DC is of course a minor thing that's why the penaly in only 5 min. But what they did is enough to warrant a permanent ban. If possible record and report such behaviour.

You better hold on tightly, or you gonna break a bone when you fall off your high horse. The OP did nothing wrong. And some thing can be penalized unjustly. The existence of a penalty isn't a justification in and of itself. Open a history book for plenty of examples.

Alright, thanks man. Unfortunately I don't have video evidence, but I did report in game, and have plenty of screen shots with AFK crows + team mates? I'll just keep it in mind if it ever happens again and report it better then.

Send all you have anyway, let'em handle this. You can use this link:

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  • You can follow the link below and choose 'additional player report information' from the drop-down menu:

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  • The team will have to make a judgement call, but this can easily qualify as taking the game hostage imho. You will need video proof. Report in-game and send supporting evidence via ticket.

  • It depends on the context. If a survivor gets me with a good play, maybe a close-call on a vault, I might give them a quick nod to acknowledge "well played". On the other hand, the situation where someone is tbagging for no reason and I down them, I'll give'em a nod as in "yes, you're dead". However, I wouldn't do it if they looped me well, because I would look silly. Only if they were potatoes, because I see that as teaching them some humility and decency.

In the situation you described, it's meant to be a bm. Same as hitting someone's who's on the hook. These gestures are the equivalent of tbagging or flashlight clicking.

  • They're both very good and you should be very comfortable running either one. Each has its strong points, but at a general level it's really an exercise in futility arguing which one is better. It just boils down to preference.

  • Not so much the bigger streamers. Pubstomping doesn't really mean much, especially because most players with 1k hours or so can do it. You should look at those who perform well in multiple tournaments, if you want to see something that approaches a sense of the 'best'. Sure, tournaments are not really that great in DbD, but they give you a better picture, because it's tryhards facing tryhards. Pubstomping can't capture the same level of competition consistently.

Someone like KnightLight or Jordirex are a couple of examples out of the top of my head, but there are many more. Just check the tournaments and who among those are content creators.

Fungoose is amazing but being he's from Australia, I don't think he's consistently playing top level SWF teams like otz and tru3. He's still incredible though, 4king 95%+ of his games with no add ons with any killer

Fungoose dodges though, it's been confirmed even in the stream of someone he SWFs with on a regular basis. And dodging in an already small pond where you're the big fish is not really a great measure of skill. There's a reason why his killer queues are so long compared to the other killer streamers of the area and why he has an allegedly 'anti-sniping' screen.

If you want to learn, by all means he's one to watch, he's really good at explaining. But don't take too much from his whole shtick of '4k'ing 39 out of 40 games with any killer without add-ons'. I used to, until I realized what went on behind the scenes and I also got a better understanding of the game. He's got some self-promotion to do in order to stream for a living, that goes with the territory and it's all good, nothing wrong with that. Just don't take that advertising literally, because it simply doesn't match the reality of rank 1 killer on big servers at hours where the big survivor players are online.

  • In a certain sense, you did hit him, you can see the blood spattering. I can only guess the hit wasn't eventually validated because on his screen the pallet was already down and you hit that instead. Although, that's in contrast with what the devs say about hits being client sided.

I've had the similar scenario play out when I threw a hatchet to a Claudette who dead harded. I saw the blood and I could swear I timed it perfectly to bait and it landed after the animation, but I wasn't given the hit. Which is doubly weird considering dead hard basically never works.

So, desync/latency or possibly a hack.

  • Lately, Trapper and before that I played Plague a lot and Deathslinger.

Normally, I play Oni (my main), Myers, Billy, Demo. Sometimes Huntress, but she never fails to disappoint me because I get hits just by throwing near a survivor, but I fall back into the old habits eventually.

Nurse is hit or miss, I play as long as I can tolerate the bugs. I also play Doc on and off, but mostly off for now.

  • The main counterplay is to genrush. Deathslinger is a killer meant to 1v1, not 1v4. His map pressure comes from ending chases, not mobility, of which he lacks.

In 1v1, distance is the primary factor. Secondly, I read all the walls of text in this thread and I'll just say that predicting when he'll shoot is a non-factor against a savvy 'slinger, except in very obvious situations when he has to take the shot because he's about to lose LoS. For the remainder, all those theories above fall apart against practical experience. A good player will almost exclusively quick-scope and with accuracy and patience. Because the DS can ads and cancel very liberally, the survivor will eventually have to choose between juking (and losing distance in the process), or take the shortest path to safety, but they can never know when the killer will actually take the shot. Both situations are easily taken advantage of by a competent DS, as long as they have decent aim and stick to the points above. If the killer can do that, then getting hits becomes trivial, although not necessarily fast. That's the reason why he can end chases and still get gen rushed.

I won't touch over the tips about wiggling. Most sound like wild speculation. Wiggling to break the chain, while it's something that should always be attempted, is a weak action with a very low success rate and with little room for influence from the survivor.

It goes without saying, everyone is free to think as they please about this. I don't feel strongly about this argument to write full book chapters as those that have been posted so far. My experience comes from playing DS in the red ranks and compared to other killers I used extensively at rank 1 (Billy, Huntress, Myers, Doc 2.0 and to a lesser extent Spirit).

I've seen some folks say that as long as the player playing him is good enough, they are turned into "Glorified NPCs"

Of course, I think that's just them saying that he is "overpowered" without saying the word.

That one really stuck with you, didn't it? Anyway, I clearly said in that very post that strength was not the issue, but interactivity, and that Deathslinger is not top tier, at least imho. Sure, he's very very strong against solos, but that's not the metric I use to assess viability. So, your 'overpowered' inference is incorrect, if I my original post wasn't already clear enough.

On a technicality, Spirit goes through "an ethereal plane" while phasing, which is different than the Spirit World.

Ironic that the Spirit is the one who doesn't go to the spirit world.

  • This is definitely the kind of quality content that I'd expect from a Trusted poster. Level-headed, rational and constructive, just like the people in that chat convo.

  • What's your ping and theirs? They teleport (on your screen) to the location where they were on their screen the moment you downed them.

Wait he can?! I know spirit is the same way but I never read any lore on that!

I think it's implied that the Spirit is somewhat overwhelmed by rage and temporarily loses her connection to the Entity. Similar mechanism to how the Huntress does when she's so focused on the hunt (Beast of Prey description), although Rancor has a much more powerful consequence.

On the other hand, Myers IS the evil incarnate. He simply does as he pleases and the Entity just can't stop him, but it can still feed off his work, even if it doesn't meet the usual standard. He's the real OG that not even an almost godlike being as the Entity can control.

  • @Entity_Hugs said:

If they ever start banning for crosshairs, they also have to start banning for using discord.

Both are using out-of-game programs to gain an advantage. They can't ban for one and not the other without being massive hypocrites, so you're probably safe.

Not all 3rd party programs are forbidden. Discord is openly allowed. Overlays are allowed if they're not blacklisted in EAC for some other reason.

  • Because Entity, like for anything else.

  • So as you can see in the photo above there, the killer lost 3 survivors and only managed to kill one. Now I have a pretty decent killer here with the right add-ons, a pretty high level killer (just 40) and damn good perks. Yet I still manage to let 3 survivors escape. Bit weird no?

Putting aside the fact that your killer level is not high and your perks are not that good, you seem to assume that IF that were the case, then 3 survivors shouldn't have escaped. Sure, there are certainly broken items in this game, you yourself mention ebony moris, for example. However, you seem to expect to get kills just because you have a good build. It doesn't work like that. There's always a player behind the screen who has to do the job.

This game ended very quickly, in less that 10 mins or so

It's not really that fast, let alone very quick. It's about average for me, when it ends in a 3/4k. Sometimes, a couple of min more. If you normally need a 20 min game, then there's something wrong with your gameplay.

As for the last few weeks now I've tried to go back to playing killer instead of playing survivor but I always end with the same sad results.

You're not even devotion 1. You're not experienced enough to be proficient, especially if you have not mained killer so far. You're facing the kind of competition now that has some idea about how to play the game. Forget the survivors in yellow and green ranks. Those were headless chickens. You're only starting to play real killer games at this level.

What'S going on with DBD? Aren't players meant to have fun instead of stressing over things like this.

Again, there's something wrong with this mindset. Is your definition of fun equal to easy games or easy wins? Because this is a PvP game. You get back what you're able to put in. My advice is to focus more on learning and less on changing the game.

  • I would uninstall, charge back my card, leave the most negative review I could think of and never look back.

I never said or claimed it was cheating. I literally never even used the word "cheat" in my entire post.

Oh sorry for assuming that by "gaining an advantage" through 3rd party software in the context of possibly bannable offenses, I understood you meant cheating. You obviously meant something else enitrely.

Ever since the last patch ive been having a much harder time hitting survivors when they are vaulting, once i had a guy mindgamed through a window then he immediately 360ed and fast vaulted back through the same window. Another i had a kate literally hit the wall on the left of a window that was to the side of a jungle gym window then turn and fast vault immediately as if she had never stopped. and again ive had several people run parallel to a wall, right beside it and still fast vault it by barely turning around right at the vault.

Am i doing something wrong here because it seems no matter the frick i do or whatever way there goin there gunna get a fast vault

After the patch, if you have good ping as killer, hits that you could make before (aka dedicated hits) don't connect anymore. Why that's the case, it's debatable, since the official explanation was latency, but in that case good ping killers shouldn't have been able to dedi hit even before the patch. Lagging killers will still get ridiculous hits from the survivors' perspective.

Source: my ping is 32-36 and certain hits are no longer possible. I still get hit from a mile away when playing survivor. Today, I just got hit when I landed from the drop of the cabin and the killer was still upstairs. I saw him swing through the window as I touched down to the gorund. It's just that vaults now don't rubberband you back anymore, but laggers will still have undeserved hits register even if visually they're nowhere near for survivors.

  • Overlays won't get you in trouble if they don't interact with game files and processes (which they shouldn't if they're legit) and if they're not contained in black-listed software. If it's a normal mainstream commercial app, it's generally fine. If you downloaded a custom app from some obscure site where they discuss cheats and hacks, then I wouldn't be too confident, if you know what I mean. If it's built-in in your monitor, you will never have an issue.

Many monitors have crosshairs built right into the system itself. You can turn the overlay on with a setting. Do you ban people just for having specific monitors?

As a side note, Discord is perfectly and openly allowed, let's stop spreading this completely made-up narrative that it's cheating. DbD official Discord server has designated sections where you can create and join SWFs.

    Official

It is what it is, but it's not cheating, it's not bannable and you won't go to hell for it.

    2. Pick up downed survivor;
    3. Swing at locker while they're wiggling;

Because spine chill can be countered, although it's not common. It's a very handy perk, but it's not a substitute for your eyes and ears.
