  • -Off the Record, best method imo

-Stealth, the only truly effective way to stop a tunnel is to lose the killer. Getting a bodyblock off, removing line of sight on the tunnelee, and letting them hide. Not always an option, but if it is, it's the most effective. Stealth is the best way out if possible. Don't stick around hooks, run to areas the killer wouldn't want to check, finished gen areas, safe map corners, etc.

-Decisive, despite everyone's claims, yes its still a good antitunnel perk. My only complaint is the duration, and I mean how long it's usable. 60 seconds, compared to OtR with 80. If you can't chase very well, Ds + OtR can punish a tunnel, otherwise just use OtR.

-Bodyblocks. Usually won't make a big difference, but sometimes it tips the scale. Shouldn't really be used unless a way out for the tunnelee is clear, whether an escape or stealth.

-Stalling. This is the accept death route, just about. If nothing else works, just play well. Hopefully you can last long enough for the others to get the objectives done and cost the killer the game for 1 kill. Or if you're lucky, or with a good team, you could possibly survive a full game chase. Extremely doubtful, but I know I've done it before.

If someone else is getting tunneled, there is kinda 2 options to help them. Focus on objectives, or keep them alive a little longer. When I get tunneled, my main worry is the others actually doing the gens and using the time well. You can try to bodyblock, but it's usually a small obstacle, unless you can pull off a stealth play, which usually requires multiple people stalling the killer at once. Also don't heal under hook if this is a concern, just get away and lay low.

If it's the endgame and you've gotten unhooked and a tunnel is starting, sorry to say, 99% of the time, that's a wrap. No DS or OtR, lower resources. Just hope you waste enough time for everyone else to get out.

Remember that despite yourself, it's a team game, even if you die, you can still win by getting the others out.

These are all the ways I deal with tunneling, just stalling with a good chase is probably the best anti-tunnel play. I know how this sounds, and I don't mean it like that, get better with chasing.

  • This post got a lot more attention than I figured it would, and I'm checking the forum for the first time since I posted rn.

I think Buckle Up now is a niche, but good solo perk. It's not always gonna be good, but in the cases where it can be useful, it is VERY useful. That's to say my issue is that you can force its usefulness with FtP.

It has nothing to do with tunneling, and at this point, my issues with tunneling have gone down. That's to say I never play without OtR.

There is lots of anti-tunnel play, especially if the one being tunneled is a high level player. This combo has no counterplay.

I ran Stbfl and Rapid Brutality when it came out, and it was nice, but it doesn't seem as strong as you'd think, and I actually haven't seen it used against me yet.

Tunneling is still an issue yeah, but it's possible to deal with.

it's undeniably atrocious and op with ftp and hopefully gets the hammer soon, but unlike many people, i honestly think it by itself is fine. though, it's basically an infusion of wglf and mft so it completely powercrept both perks, that's the only issue with it. either those perks or bu needs attention to solve this issue, independently from the disgusting combo.

Yeah I worded it poorly. Buckle up alone is fine, niche but strong. But with FtP it's just stupid. I think perks need to be dynamic. Like not being triggered by other perks, being more/less effective depending on the character you play, less effective if in a sfw, etc. Just a rough draft of an idea.

Because some of us are playing a horror fanservice game instead of an e-sport.

Some of us are here to have fun rather than to sweat our asses off and then complain about everything.

If I want to play on Nostromo, because I'm a huge Alien fan, and because it has some of the coolest map interactions, then I want to bring an offering to do so. It has nothing to do with sweating for the win. But even if it did, why should that be a problem? Oaks, Coins, Reagents, Blueprints all exist, these offer you an advantage, that's what your offering slot is for you to spend on. Map offerings having the ability to grant you an advantage is no different.

If there's an issue with that, then the issue isn't offerings, it's the maps themselves. Fix the cause, not the symptom.

Inverted offerings wouldn't be any less abusable. All you've need is a SWF to veto Lerys, Gideon, RPD and Midwich and now you have no indoor maps available. Now the SWF can see the killer at all times, and any stealth killer is screwed. Meanwhile the killer could veto Garden of Joy but that still leaves about 10 other survivor sided maps to pick from. This is 100% a nerf for killers and solo's, without touching SWF at all, despite the fact that 99% of map offering complaints are from killers fed up of Garden of Joy and Springwood.

Inverting offerings isn't a solution to anything, it nukes the freedom of choice map offerings are designed for, without fixing the issues players have with them in any way. Map bans would have all the downsides and none of the upsides (the actual purpose of the offerings). Worst possible idea.

And every time this topic comes up and spawns a dozen comments about turning map offerings into map bans, and patting themselves on the back for their ingenious, novel, yet totally ill-thought-out suggestion, I can't help but wonder what backwards universe I just fell into.

...I hate map offerings because it FORCES you to play sweaty and not have fun. I said exactly that in my first point. I guarantee most map users aren't just super casual players who like how a map looks. I.E, I barely see a survivor take me to Dead Dawg, but when they did, it was to abuse duo locker flashlights. Then all other map offerings have been to one sided maps, i.e., GoJ, The Game, Badham, etc.

I've yet to see Oaks be very influential to a game. Same with coins and reagents. Blueprints can be pretty annoying, but it usually only matters when you've already got a 3k, so eh, and the basement? That's just useless imo.

Yeah I'd love for the maps fixed, but if the reworked red forests showed me anything, that's not happening anytime soon, so next best option would be to stop those maps from being abused

I didn't offer inverted offerings, but everyone who has, seems to have said one per side, which goes against that SWF getting rid of all indoor maps.

    sac ward

they're not super hard to get though i think they should be a little more common

Bro that is NOT a rare offering. I can't get them for the life of me, and if you DO use them, I swear it's the only time an offering isn't used. It's the deliverance of offerings. That's still to say, between a p40 Quentin, P15 Nic, P10 Wesker, I have 2 Sac Wards total. I have been continuously leveling these three at kinda the same rate since their releases (Nic a bit quicker). I usually dont use my wards because they are hard af to get. But even if I am using them loads, why tf do I only have 2 between all that? I've got like, a warehouse worth of ultra rares, why can't I get a handful of sac wards? Tf kinda rng is this

  • @JPLongstreet said:

I'd throw out a map offering when I'd get an indoor map several times in a row, as I generally despise them all in either role. So breaking them up is nice I agree.

Beyond that the only agreement I can sorta get behind is a few killer builds are absolutely map dependent. That speaks more to certain add-ons needing tweaking than maps, so I could live without them for that reason.

The fault isn't directly with the offerings themselves, it's more the imbalances on several maps that needs attention. That prolly should be the focus imo. Otherwise the offerings would just be preference only, which is the intention no doubt.

That's the thing, if maps are so infamously bad or one-sided, why would you have a system where people can specifically choose to go to one of those maps? It's like keeping a road open when it's filled with potholes and glass. Just get rid of them until the community agrees that maps don't seem based off the fridge drawing a devs toddler made. Prevent a player from getting a map, let's say more than 2 times in a row. How about removing that map from that players map pool for 5 or so matches. People who want to avoid repeat maps won't need map offerings. Give newer maps a higher chance to appear. 2 of the biggest reasons to use them solved. The number 1 reason to use them, to get an easy advantage from the get-go, is then able to be removed without issue to other people's major fun.

  • @Wowie said:

because the alternative is springwood twenty times in a row

i'd rather not have the first map i load into be my map for the rest of the day

Well considering I've had runs of Ormond map offerings go all day, I'd prefer it be rng than people being able to pull a massive part of match in their favor by default

They shouldn't be able to make it to a Harvester. Especially not against Wesker.

They are not invincible. Please do not stretch the truth, it makes your other points appear less valid. You should not be losing chase.

As I just said. It was a map offering swf that abused the harvesters. Unless I ended a chase near immediately, they ran to that window spot. Every survivor, every chase.

It doesnt help that chase registration is so shoddy that I have to be kissing someone's ass for the game to start one

  • I also just explained why that doesn't work. Excuse me but I have a feeling you're not reading anything and just going off the title :)

  • @indieeden7 said:

Last time I checked, killers can also vault windows

Explained thrice now why that didn't/doesn't work

  • @Pulsar said:

If you vault the window, they lose the "invincibility."

Did I not explain twice how that doesn't do anything. The stagger from falling off the haybale doesn't slow enough to stop them from making it to the window again without trouble, and it's easy enough to get around the harvester afterwards that the game drops chase because of LoS, stopping a window block or bloodlust. I had a match with a swf using a coldwind offering. Any chase I had, they ran to the harvesters. I was Wesker of all killers. Vaulting with his power wasn't fast enough, being 115% wasn't fast enough.

  • I guess he wanted me after I traded for Jake while he, you guessed it, nearly camped him to death

  • First place is Nic Cage for me. I love his movies and his personality. Even in-game he's a total memelord, complete with being a chatterbox and random perks.

Second is Quentin. My first DLC and survived. He was the saving grace of his movie, and with the lore Bhvr gave him, an absolute unit. He is benevolent, willful and kinda badass

  • It's another case of "You play solo queue? We don't like that, die."

Playing coordinated it can be kinda manageable, but even then stuff like teleport spam, tvs always being off, it adds up into knowing the counter, but not having the means to do it. If the TVs don't take a skull merchant game to turn back on id be fine with it.

If you're solo queue, chances are you might as well just open another tab and wait to die while playing Deep Rock or something. You NEED coordination to play against her now, something solo queue sorely lacks. If one teammate doesn't know her counter, 3v1 almost immediately. Can't tell each other where TVs are, makes actually countering 5x harder.

She's, imo, the worst kind of killer. A pubstomper. Mediocre against teams, but downright atrocious against solo queue. Why the ######### does bhvr hate solo so much??? Feel like the middle child of a late 80s family rn

I still hate new Freddy lol he used to be fun...weak but fun. I wish they just made the sleep timer shorter or something lol

Agreed. Old Freddy was weaker overall but just felt more in character and unique. I'm not even gonna mention that I still miss his aura reading. He was my first 4K and I even got the Adept Nightmare before they reworked him, something everyone I knew said was impossible. Honestly I don't see why not give us both. Make an add on that turns him into the old Freddy or something, instead of dream pallets. He wasn't problematic, just kinda weak

  • Everyone says this was a nerf, but the consistent dead randoms at 5 gens make me feel otherwise. Alas, solo queue lives to suffer another day

Yup, ignore me I misread entirely. I back the idea of it not interrupting actions. Think I read somewhere else someone wanted it removed and I mixed the two up. Apologies.

Fair. But yeah at the very least get rid of the screaming interrupting vaults please. I just got killed by a rubber band scream where I would have escaped. The other I can understand a little, vauly interrupting has 0 reason to be part of the perk.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/386442/curious-how-many-vets-are-still-out-there

I think the game was ported over to the consoles in like 2018 or so. The consolers makes up the vast majority of the playerbase by far.

Those players in 2016-17 could only be from Steam.

Actually it came in late 2017 for console, I can attest since I started around December 2017 on Ps. If I remember correctly the nightmare had just come out and I bought the dlc for my first match. God I miss that 2017 winter theme

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

I feel the perk would lose all of its meme allure if the scream was removed and also become rather too strong in the process.

This perk is great when working as a team, a bit like when a group of birds are feeding, then one sees danger and chirps to alert the others and hide.

I do understand that, in terms of stealth, this is the equivalent of trying to burgle a house whilst wearing a suit of armour, but I wouldn't want any change to this perk. There are enough perks out there which allow auras to be seen without any downside. This gives a bit of a twist and the meme is too good to remove.

I'm not saying remove the scream-

I'm saying remove the scream interrupting things.

The scream is the whole point of the perk, getting interrupted by it isn't

  • @Zokenay said:

Its the whole point of the perk, it gives you a pretty strong effect at the cost of a downside.

Seriously, this perk will make stealth nearly impossible.

I can understand having a downside, but this just feels disproportionately bad to deal with.

I love this perk, it's goofy as hell and nothing but fun, the aura reading isn't a super strong effect, it usually doesn't last long enough to get massive value, or it happens in the open, but its a pretty nice effect.

But this downside drains all the fun out of it, the whole point of using the perk is because it's dumb fun, having fun shouldn't put you at a blatant disadvantage that can end up throwing the game out of pure chance. Dramaturgy is exempt from this, the exposed gamble is surprisingly fun, unlike the scream interruption.

I'm just saying, maybe get rid of the animation interrupt? If you aren't in the middle of an action, like healing, using an item, etc, keep the scream and animation. If you are, have him scream without the screaming animation

  • I've gotten to the point where if a killer clearly had a bad game, 0k, I'll usually try and offer myself and my item up to make it a little better. Unless they're a total asshat in which case Karma.

  • Recently I had a fully afk teammate, crows and all, killer ignored them completely. 3v1, 5 gens, starts tunneling first chance. And I mean hard tunneling, won't even look at anyone else until the unhooked is dead tunneling. I know it's an outlier but it made me realize that even when it's not needed, even when the other team is at a massive disadvantage, they will still do everything in their power to make sure not that they win, but that you lose.

Sidenote, no, you don't need to automatically tunnel someone out of the game immediately every match to stand a snowballs chance in hell. Stop playing the victim card before games even start to try and justify playing as if you main League of Legends. Just own up to being or playing like a prick and I guarantee you'll be 10x less despised.

  • @Hex_Llama said:

It's tough, because I think the old TVs were too easy to manage, but the new TVs are too hard. Maybe it should be that, when you get within a certain distance of a TV, you can see the aura, and the distance increases the more condemned you have.

I'm with this. There need to be more dynamic effects akin to how Noed works rn. Rather than just keeping an effect black and white on or off, have it change in tandem with the scenario.

4 stacks of condemned? Give em 40 Meters of TV reading.

    1 stack? 10 meters.

Condemned? Map wide, maybe a boost to tape interaction speed, idk, just getting tired of being hard targeted for full matches because I got condemn spammed after she hit me with a tape.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I get headaches from the bottle effect, so I understand. But most players seem to be fine with it so I can't see them changing him for a minority of us. Lots of players with a fear of throwing up still have to play against Plague. It's just one of those things.

Well that kinda seems like comparing apples and oranges. It's a horror game by default, or is supposed to be at least, being scared of stuff is part of it. This however, isn't being scared, it's physical discomfort.

On one hand it would be a light nerf, but on the other yes please, I played against him today, that swirling screen of mid mop unicorn vomit made my eyes ache. I get why it wouldn't change, but also why it would, and kinda should

  • She just seems in a spot where there's no really effective way to change her without completely scrapping the killer in all important ways.

Her add-ons can get another look ig, but she's just too...unique to change much without just getting rid of the killer. Which isn't always a bad thing tbf, looking at you Chess Merchant.

And honestly she's not that hard to get good at. If you have a few functioning braincells, which yeah in all fairness much of dbd lacks those, she's simple enough to get the hang of, and to learn to the point of high lethality, maybe a day or two of getting into her kit.

  • For killers trying to get on the wagon on Dead Dawg go to the bottom right of it and just shimmy your way up. Keep moving up it but be moving side to side. The trick is getting high enough on the wagon side that when you come back down you skip along some collision and hop onto it. I would say its necessary knowledge with the number of survivors that have tried to be pricks by using the bug.

Or they run in parralel, the games are not that similar.

Its not that its similar, its that its currently its sole competitor while the game is in a notoriously awful state. VHS is going to be Free to Play, so players of DBD will most likely say "Nothing to lose", install, and just go "VHS is way better than DBD and I think I'm sticking with it". Its not about strict similarities, its about competition in a genre. DBD is in too bad of a state at the moment where either VHS fails, they fix DBD and people play both, or they fix nothing and they lose a significant portion of players to VHS.

I'm not doing algebra in the middle of a playground!

(Which is really the other problem; you need to have someone else on standby just to look around one of the maps? Seriously?)

I always just ended up learning it through normal games. When I get it on occasion I take any extra brain power I can into memorizing the layout, which after maybe I'd say 10 or so times I've played it I've got it probably 90% down. The only thing I have an issue with anymore is finding gens sometimes. It's not really doing homework if you're doing the work in the middle of class.
