  • Ngl, this would make consider becoming a Clown main. And I'm serious.

  • The meta is Corrupt, BBQ, STBFL and the last one is up to you.

  • Play stealth. Leave early. Also, when you crouch you're quieter.

In the end, if the Spirit has ears it won't matter, you're just trying to buy as much time as possible. If she's got a brain cell she has a guaranteed hit. Accept it and genrush.

Source: I played Spirit at rank 1 for 3 prestige levels.

  • I wouldn't risk it. I suggest you read this thread for more info: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/146244/my-last-words

  • It's OK with the new maps. It should lose the basic attack requirement. I understand the reason for a cooldown, to avoid hostage situations.

Photographic evidence seems to suggest otherwise. Also, what was that video supposed to be about?

It was video evidence that showed what I said. Also, I'm pretty sure it was up when I posted it. Oh well, unfortunate.

  • It doesn't make you able to see over walls, because it doesn't raise your camera.

  • Tbf, killer at rank 7 or 1 is very similar, in the sense that you get matched often against the same rank range. I'd say that at rank 1 I get rank red ranks slightly than when I was in purple, but not by much.

I'd don't try to keep rank, I just happen to get there and I don't sweat it. It's a game, I win some and lose some, I don't take it personally. Since they changed the gatekeeper emblem, pips are easier for killers even in the red ranks. There's still the issue that some killers can pip more easily than others due to their powers, but with enough play time I still rank up eventually.

  • Yes, I do. I'm a killer main, after all.

Also, this thread is suspicious, if you know what I mean...

I just want to clarify one thing; while we aren't planning to make it automatic, that does not mean that it won't ever be changed to something else (something other than button mashing).

I look forward to it. Although, I don't see the harm in making it automatic and the stubborness in refusing this QoL change. It's been since 2016 that this has been requested. Nobody feels immersed after a few dozen hours, that's not the appeal of this game. What I want to point out is that I think you'll get an overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding this point from the Q&A. I hope the devs will listen to it this time.

  • There's no univocal definition of fair. You can definitely play without camping and tunneling in the red ranks, if that's what you meant. However, it's a choice, not an obligation.

  • Thanks again for doing this.

Have you considered making the hook struggle automatic?

This has been considered several times, and rejected. The devs want the players to feel involved, and so mashing a button helps the gameplay of fighting against the Entity and the sacrifice. They've considered changing how it works, however there are no plans for automation.

I'm baffled that after 4 years of complaints they still insist on this. Anybody who's played more than 10h knows the immersion factor is gone and button mashing is just an annoyance.

  • Now prestige rewards are coming

I think I've missed the memo. What's the source of this news?

  • I'm not a streamer. I'm not even a professional. I don't even have remotely the same amount of hours those content creators have. I'm normally at rank 1. So are many other rank 1 killers.

This game has a learning curve. You need to accept it and go through the process. The rank 1 with the lowest amount of hours I've ever seen had 148 and, let me say, it showed. Yet, he managed. I've seen at least two rank 1 Wraiths with 200-ish hours. Again, not godlike killers, but they hanged in there. You may need more (I sure did), or you may need fewer. The point is that it's not what you make it out to be and the surefire way to fail is to throw the towel early, spending your time complaining instead of improving.

You also need to accept that you'll win some, lose some. Do away with the victim mentality, bullying and all that jazz. This is a videogame, nobody is bullying you and you're not a victim. That's your path to rank 1, whatever that number means to you.

If you're not willing to learn, then you're not meant to get there.

  • I'd disregard the salty survivor comments, for obvious reasons.

For the rest, well, I've played as her a little bit more than you did, and by little I mean a lot and at rank 1 even before 3.7. This is mostly a subjective topic and thus I'm probably arguing semantics, so don't take this too seriously. I'd say maybe she's not necessarily overrated, but she's a tad overhyped because she has a very vocal fanbase, including on this board.

I think the issue is that some people get mesmerized by crossmaps and prediction shots, then they overestimate her skill cap and correlate that to strength. Don't get me wrong, she has a nice skill cap, but it's not that massive proposition that it's often made out to be. You don't need a 1000h to git gud at Huntress. Heck, lately I've seen some players with anywhere from 100 to 500h on their profiles (matchmaking btw) pull off some really good shots.

Prediction takes into account the same understanding of pathing that any good killer can achieve regardless of playing as her or other characters. Then it's all risk vs reward. Some shots are simply low percentage, unless the survivors are very straightforward, but when they land they have that extra wow factor, especially on Twitch. Mechanically, she's not that difficult. The main points are patience, muscle memory for timing and flicking and cough cough crosshairs cough. The same as with many other killer powers. Also, I shouldn't say this, but knowing how to 'abuse' the hitboxes is very important in her case specifically. She also has built-in stbfl when going hatchet+melee combo, she can cancel at any time and she can hold a hatchet indefinitely, which is extremely advantageous.

So, she's definitely strong. Maybe not Spirit strong, but I don't think many people would put them in the same tier to begin with. Of course, some maps are bad for her, but that goes for any killer. Map size is a lesser issue now, because most have been shrinked. Her range is her mobility.

For broken, I'd say she's broken moslty in the hitboxes. They're way too generous, especially now that with the Deathslinger we know they're capable of making more accurate hitboxes. That's also a reason why I think her skill cap is overestimated. Let's not even discuss dedicated servers.

As a side note, hatchets are not that slow imho. A charged shot is 40 m/s, same as Deathslinger, but the range is the whole map, the hitbox is massive and she can hold it indefinitely. Even if there's wind-up and charging time, the survivors still need to be careful in that time frame and that's often all that's needed to zone them.

Holding the game hostage-----> It's not a thing anymore, unless a bug happens.

I didn't even need to twist your words.

On a related note, can you give some examples of what you think are broken addons? I'm genuinely curious

Except the first post of mine you're quoting now is not the one you had quoted then when you objected with that specific argument, to which I replied. You originally objected to my follow-up post where I explained at length. As I said, you're just selectively twisting my words. Case in point and somewhat lame.

For busted add-ons, there are many. Some examples are Insta saw, CrackBilly, Discipline on Doc (especially when stacked), Black Incense+Emetic, Perma tier 3+Memorial, Shackles+Mint rag.

Also, I just realized you're the guy who's dragging out that tunneling thread to no end repeating the same stuff over and over. So, I'll wrap this with a simple we'll have to agree to disagree, as there's not much else to add considering we have very different views.

So we're just gonna pretend that a time-out isn't the same as a temporary ban?

Log into a trial. Press esc. Press leave match. Open your steam profile. See if you have a game ban.

DC'ing is not sanctioned as cheating. Don't blame me, it's a matter of fact.

Claiming that something doesn't exist when you just saw video evidence of it is pretty objectively non-credible

Don't twist my words. I said it's not a thing because survivors can't avoid a sentient killer to any sensible time length in the current state of the game.

The only gamebreaking addon in the game atm is Iri Heads, and that's only because of it stacking with the belt

Is facecamping and dcing are about the same, can you explain why there is a dc penalty, but not a facecamping one?

Because one of it is cheating, and the other is not.

DC'ing is not cheating. It's an allowed action that's discouraged with a penalty. There's a leave match button built into the game. You don't get a game ban, like when you cheat. You get a time-out.

Your post was at least somewhat reasonable until you got to the point where you said holding the game hostage isn't a thing anymore after the original post contained a video of survivors holding the game hostage. Now it just lacks any credibility.

What can I say... luckily, anyone can assess credibility by their own standard and you're not the collective judge of that. In the current state of the game, survivors can't hide for long even if they locker swap spamming emotes. They were able to hide due to killer's mistakes, who didn't know what to look and listen for. I know it's a bit harsh, but it's also true. I have 1k hours in dbd. I can count on one hand the time immersed survivors were able to hide for 5 min tops.

Also, I looked at this person's channel. The video right before this one is titled "Let's get toxic Freddy". I suggest watching that one as well to get a full perspective.

  • Console companies won't allow changing achievements that are still technically possible. So, don't hold your breath.

What do you mean by "not being able to stalk in evil within 3?

Myers can stalk when hes tier 3?

He can at base. It doesn't increase the bar, but he still sees the outlines of stalked survivors. That's disabled with Tombstone.

  • @calem said:

Can I ask what you thought he said that was questionable? Seemed pretty fine to me.

    As for the tally:

    1. 4-man SWF
    2. Clicky flashlight users
    3. Survivors are salty even though they got outplayed
    4. Holding the game hostage
    5. DC'ing for hatch

Plus some things that don't happen for the average killer

    1. Stream sniping
    2. Being DDOS'd

It's questionable in the sense that neither killers or survivors are an oppressed group. This is all overly dramatic.

Every point you mentioned has it's analogous for survivors.

    1. 4-man SWF----> Gamebreaking add-ons.
    2. Clicky flashlight users------> Really inconsequential on gameplay and laughable this is even an argument, but for the sake of it: smacking hooked survivors.
    3. Survivors are salty even though they got outplayed------> Works both ways. Players in general are salty when they lose.
    4. Holding the game hostage-----> It's not a thing anymore, unless a bug happens.
    5. DC'ing for hatch-----> Facecamping to secure the hefty 1k.

Yeah, tried that. All 3 of them swarmed the hook and had perks to get out of jail free. This is a horror game, but only for the killers who have to deal with voice chat.

If they swarm the hook, you have an easy hook trade, if not even a hook and a slug, free hits, etc. Believe it or not, they're doing you a favor.

And it's simply a horror-themed game. Nobody with more than 100h is going to be frightened. They're not playing with their real lives and you're not a real big bad guy wielding a sharp weapon.

    Bloodlust 3.

Being chased for 5 minutes is not intended and is, in fact, proof of how unbalanced loops are. You're not supposed to be able to 1v1 the killer unless there's a massive difference in skill.

There's no set up that allows 5 min chases, even without bloodlust. A 5 min chases is only proof of poor gameplay by the killer. Even 45 seconds at a single L/T wall is highly questionable, because a hit should be scored on that tile even before bloodlust kicks in.

  • @MadArtillery said:

Nah they are a boring waste of time. Terrible implementation that doesn't currently add anything to the game.

    @BigBrainMegMain said:

    Waste of time.

Why make extremely long loops and force killers to break the walls instead of just making the loops smaller and fairer on both sides.

I don't see a benefit to killers other than just waste their time during a chase.

These^. Breakable walls are the rough equivalent of dropped pallets minus the vaulting for survivors. Just rework the loop instead of making it a preemptive must-kick.

  • Hillbilly has a higher skill cap than Huntress (skill cap, not skill floor). Huntress has simply a more vocal fanbase.

Gen time is not a valid complaint anymore, except on very specific maps, eg. Haddonfield. However, in that case the issue is still the map rather than gen time.

Breakable walls are not a significant addition to gameplay and they're basically the equivalent of already dropped pallets.

    Oni is A tier.

Ghostface is a poorly designed buggy killer that appeals to the biggest douchebags.

  • It's a hack and probably one very easy to detect, because they have save file copies server-side now. Just send a ticket with video proof. Easy ban.

  • @batmanscar said:

no , I used to be able to sacrifice 1 survivor per gen but now they buffed the survivors so much that the killer and his perks are all useless without an ebony mori . if I 4k I get around 20k bloodpoints which I can only do when I use an ebony mori . if I do all the same work as I would have done to 4k the survivors but without an ebony mori , despite having all the add-ons and perks I would have used with the mori and despite doing all the same things I only get 7k BP . its ridiculous how much the survivors got buffed . everyone complained about camping , so they nerfed the killer's BP's when he camps , everyone complained about gens being to slow and now they are so fast that the trial is over within 5 minutes and as killer I did all the work , including chasing the survivors which actually takes time but BHVR seem to have decided to ignore this fact , and I don't even get rewarded for the work I did and I have to play against toxic survivors who constantly pallet camp , DS me , use borrowed time , and if I used no-ed its now a wasted perk since it only activates at the end of the trial if the hex was'nt taken down . it's ridiculously unbalanced and BHVR really need to fix this because I won't play anymore until they do .

Survivors have just been nerfed. And you want one survivor dead per gen? You're trolling.

    @EvanRaven said:

It might not have anything to do with this, but there's also a shortage of killers right now.

    Anecdotal.

  • If you have 1 survivor dead with 3 gens done you're actually in a good spot.

  • @Irisora said:

Good luck to the one trying this now without ruin. I tried to do it back then when jungle gyms existed so of course i didn't get it. Now its probably imposible.

I wonder if it works with infinite evil within 3 and ebony mori people after you are in EW3. Because the achievement don't especifically says "use judith tombstone or piece". Anyone knows?

When I did it, they cleansed my (old) Ruin in the first 30 seconds. So, it's definitely possible. If I could go back I'd have used Corrupt regardless, the problem was that I didn't have it.

Regarding the ebony, it doesn't count toward the achievement. Same for Devour, Rancor etc. You have to kill them with the ability granted by Tombstone.

It's not what they plan on doing, that's a conspiracy theory made up by players with no basis whatsoever. They're replacing ranks with an MMR system, which is planned to not only be a more accurate reflector of player skill, but also rewards or punishes players proportionally to the difference in skill between them and their opponents (for example, you will lose fewer MMR points if you lose to an opponent who is better than you are). You can find more information about the upcoming changes in this post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/status-update-matchmaking-changes

Considering they won't tell us how the MMR works, going for the conspiracy theories or the devs' words carries exactly the same amount of weight, as neither can be backed up with proof.

  • There's no reason for shaming someone. They can explain their point of view, but shaming is unwarranted and unproductive. I don't condone that.

I've been playing a lot of Plague lately. Routinely cleansing is the best way to give an easy time to the killer. Corrupt Purge is one of the strongest abilities in the game. Without corrupt, the Plague is an m1 killer. Cleanse when it makes sense. You're on dead hook, you need to force a hook trade against a camper, etc. Use your common sense. If possible, use a fountain in an area where there are no gens.

However, the default strategy remains to stay infected. If the Plague collects her corrupted fountain, then spread out and try to stay in areas where there are no objectives. Wait it out unless she's chasing someone. If she makes the error of using her fountain at the beginning when no ones is infected, you're golden. Hide and profit.

    first off

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/435/hourson.png

Second off, why is the onus on me, the Killer, to fix the problem with BHVR's game. Why should I have to ignore (or even detriment) one of my prime objectives to kill people? Because it's unfun for the survivor? Doesn't that mean there's a problem with the game then?

Do you even realize how much easier the game becomes for killer with even one person dead? It's simple math. 2 Survivors dead is almost always a win for the killer, especially if there's 2 or more gens remaining. The game's design encourages you to kill as early as possible.

Not to tin-foil hat, but I have a alt-account that has even fewer hours. Your whole post betrays knowledge in detail of a number of topics and being current on community debates that a new player simply wouldn't possess. That's why this thread smells bait from a mile.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and I'll tell you this. Play however you want. The others can do the same. You can 100% ignore their complaints and don't be surprised if yours will be ignored as well. You keep doing your tunnel thing and they'll keep doing their gen fly thing, as you said. Everybody's focused on their own backyard and then, when you'll have more hours, don't be surprised to realize how bad the health state of this game is.

  • Kate's lore in this rift was written with the same effort that it took to rework Nurse's add-ons. Actually, scrap that. At least for the Nurse they had some diverse ideas, though terrible. For Kate, we get 5 entries of the same thing. The only decent part is that it ties in with the original lore by Benedict, where she's described as harboring a hidden strength and she might be the first one to have actually managed to resist the Entity's grasp.

However, they could've given us something, anything. Maybe details of her past life, maybe elaborate on her bond to Entity beside "the melody in her head" regurgitated over 5 entries, maybe an account of how the first encounter with the Entity affected her. As I said, something, anything. Anything but the same bland old song (pun intended) repeated 5 times. Or, maybe, that was exactly the point, which would be even more tragic.

  • It's basically a troll offering. It certainly doesn't help to gain an advantage, unless you count as advantage the fact that it messes with the survivors' perception.

  • I've got not much to add, except you're preaching to the choir as far as I'm concerned. I made a thread not long ago where I touched on these points and I also reckoned that Wraith is viable at rank 1. Hopefully, your thread raises more awareness.

Concerning Wraith specifically, he's not in the bad tier, he's simply add-on dependent. You don't need the big guns, but something as simple as windstorm gives him that little extra he needs.

Concerning the "I get a toxic swf group every game" argument, it's obviously a scapegoat excuse. When I read the posts in this forum, many complaints, either from killers or survivors, boil down to players who didn't go through the learning curve and decided they want to change the game instead of getting better. Don't get me wrong, some complaints are indeed well-reasoned and grounded. However, the hyperbole such as "killer is impossible", "survivor only needs to hold m1, run to pallet, drop pallet, run to next pallet" are clearly not. Otherwise, how come there are red rank killers to begin with?

Anyway, thanks for posting these and good luck, because you're probably going to have your hands full with the kind of replies I'm expecting.

  • I vote for this motion. Everybody's in favor say YAY.

All I read was "I want the bullshit window hits that used to be there back". Honestly I don't run vault speed build much, so I still get hit by the bullshit window hits, but I disagree that they should be the norm. There's a reason people run it.

I mean, the phantom hits are still here if the killer has bad ping. I have 32-36 usually and I definitely can't hit any of the usual dedicated hits that were never a miss before the patch.

However, when I play survivor I still get dedicated. The difference is that I don't get rubber banded back anymore, but the hit still lands with a delay. I've experienced and seen even instances where the killer does the missed swing animation with the whiffing sound, then there's a delay and the system registers a hit.

They somehow fixed dedicated for killers with good ping (and it's unclear how we were even able to get dedicated hits in the first place, considering the official narrative was lAtEnCy), but the real problem i.e. laggers is still there.
