  • McLean likely knew, although I cannot prove that at all. Save face, because alot of the upper mgmt team members are going to know this is on the table. A company typically doesn't simply jump onto a new currency without notifying it's various departments, especially it's accounting department.

It's likely most of the other departmental low and mid level employees were not notified, however, it was not necessarily "need-to-know" basis, because accounting isn't the only need to know department. Marketing as well as various programmers would need to know all this as well in order to generate the Hellraiser coupons, so I highly doubt McLean didn't know, being a lead programmer.

Greetings! The balance team left me so confused, I decided to finally make a forum account after 800 hours in DBD.

I'm completely baffled as to why they committed such a huge nerf for one of the least used perks in the game. Yes it adds like three to four seconds now at max rank when survivors are cleansing compared to before, but that wasn't the truly useful facet of it.

What made Thrill even decent was the fact it notified you when one of your perks was being potentially removed, allowing you to stop your current focus and hopefully get a sneaky hit on someone, so long as you have a couple or more hexes lying around. It allowed fun builds with stealth killers, as well as Deathslinger, Demogorgon, Huntress, and even Doctor by making the name of the game "leave my bones alone", using some hilarious tactics to either drop in on someone and yoink them, or play around them as if they were a main objective.

With Thrill of the Hunt's current state, it's essentially useless. The total time necessary to cleanse/bless a totem is around the length of a single chase, assuming they don't have Counterforce, if not shorter (depending on the survivor being chased).

So while you're patrolling gens, hunting players, or setting up traps, your hexes are now completely vulnerable, save for Undying which was a boring perk to use before and still is.

    TL;DR ######### they nerfed a low-tier perk into oblivion.

The name of the game is "Do gens or Die" unfortunately

Alternative objectives were hit hard with today's patch.

  • Valve/Steam has a few clear indications of what should not be published including:

-Content you don't own or have adequate rights to

-Applications built on blockchain technology that issue or allow exchange of cryptocurrencies or NFTs

Would anyone argue that BHVR does not have the right to the Hellraiser license? Would anyone argue that their technology is built on *exchanging* crypto or NFTs?

  • 100% legitimate tactic.

No stopping of game progress occurred at any point. Your accessibility was denied.

  • Bro this legit made me laugh but also I started crying because *DEMOGOROROGHARGHLE NOISES*

  • Validation was fine on original release. It's now been so over tweaked by the community devs that it's broken.

This isn't a nerf. It supports a different playstyle. It uses all your traps for delay at the beginning when you need it most but it does make head pops very unlikely. To be honest, all Iri Addons should be playstyle shifts instead of massive buffs.

I am not calling you inhuman but what "you" did there was based on him missing..

First of all, the scoping animation means nothing. He can simply fake his ability. You never know when he is shooting until he is actually shooting. There is no indicator of knowing if he is actually pressing the trigger.

Second, the protectile speed is 40 meters per second. A human needs about 200-300 milliseconds alone just to react and press a button. To that 300 milliseconds, you have to coordinate your character model to the side, which takes, even if you are very quick with your mouse, at least 300 milliseconds, but this might depend on your DPI. And now, combine those factors with the delays on our servers, where you even get hit after you have vaulted a window already half a second ago.

Even a close to max range shot is not so easy to dodge (no problem with Deadhard, because its just pressing the button) but you will most likely find yourself in a scenario, where he is less then 20 meters away simple due to his terror radius and map design.. You have half a second to physically move out of the way of the projectile which is impossible because of all the factors i have already named.

Hims, plural. I have not ever struggled against a cowboy and these changes are going to make it easier to lock him down. 200 to 300 milliseconds for both the cowboy and the survivor, as it would take the average cowboy that long to be able to confirm he wants to attempt to ADS, correct? What I don't see accounted for in your description is the time it takes cowboy to aim, which is dependent on predictable environmental factors. Since the conditions for a successful shot are going to require the same constraints you described about the survivor, it's pretty clear there's more than enough reactive tolerance for a survivor to anticipate the shot.

A few more drops of oil in the ocean won't make much of a difference, so I guess it doesn't matter if we start dumping barrelfuls in daily?

NFTs exclusively use ethereum blockchain, the mining of a single ethereum transaction consumes enough energy to power the average home for several days.

So sure, it's just more energy usage, big whoop! The issue is you now consuming millions of times more energy to do something we can already do via legitimate avenues.

A bank transaction: totaly legit, legal, traceable, cheap.

NFT transaction: unregulated, untraceable, used for money laundering, costs over a million tines more energy than a bank transaction.

It's the difference between e-banking, or taking a cruise liner to Spain to deposit a check to make sure you don't get taxed.

It's totally irresponsible and only benefits the sickeningly rich.

Thing is, there is no relevant measurement for a single transaction because the energy use is redundant for multiple transactions. To single out only a single transaction isn't true data and narrows the scope of evidence to a moot argument.

Tell me, how many transactions can be processed in a single day and measure that energy use against the average daily homeowner energy use, please.

  • I mean, nearly all electricity used to play games and power up EV batteries is sourced from oil and coal plants, so it's not like an extra few drops of oil in the ocean is going to sway us away from an impasse we are already in full motion towards ...

  • Yep, NFTs are a completely blameless situation. Neither the company nor the consumer could possibly be responsible for any of this.

Are we finally applying this logic to drug use and firearm ownership as well? Perhaps the unvaccinated are not responsible for their inactions against others? Sure would be convenient, wouldn't it be?

It was tested, that his quick scoping is not reactive-able. At least not by a human. Especially not in DbD with these servers. Even if you would be inhuman quick, there is no way the game would allow you to doge the shot.

Are you calling me inhuman? I have run a few different cowboys for five gens and managed to avoid getting shot. It's a visible anticipation and it's also predictable in hallway environments.

Any human with fully functioning eyes and every day motor skills can do it. Quick scoping still had several frames of animation before the shot goes off, so I doubt that testing you're describing was proper.

  • Deathslinger was completely fine before these changes. His ADS was predictable and reactive-able. Seems to me, the basis for these changes is coming from some inexperienced players that complained loudly enough to merit the change. His new changes are clearly underpowered compared to huntress and trickster.

I've literally seen PC Hackers get into Console-only lobbies.

It's an issue. I've had 10 hackers in the last two weeks and I play with crossplay OFF

Turn cross play on, you're making queues unbearable for others by doing this. If pc hackers are a concern but they get into your game anyways, what's the point?

  • I mean it's easily argued that the amount of time a single person spends playing the game and consuming energy is comparable to the amount of energy a single NFT transaction takes.

Responsibility falls onto the consumer by continuing to support the product, whether or not the product is directly related to the NFT transactions. Ultimately, it's on you, the player reading this right now, to make the decision to support this business practice as everyone reading the forums is now a little bit more informed on these business practices.

Keep in mind, only the obvious consequences are being discussed. The full ramifications of this whole ordeal is still fully unknown to the consumer, and each passing day of using this product furthers more irrevocable consequences that most would otherwise not cause the effect of IF they knew about it ahead of time. Part of the magic of life is not knowing ahead of time, but you're all capable of being much better informed from this point forward.

Nobody involved in any of this is blameless, including both the company and the consumer.

The worst thing is that now that I find out, Steam seems to ban all content with NFT, but what the #########, what did BHVR get into?

To be fair, BHVR has been gearing up for this for some time. This is indicative by the bans in the last few months prior to the NFT announcement. It's a big cover up. I suspect that Mc Lean likely knew about awhile ago.

This is a conspiracy. I think that Behavior is not aware of their actions which is very worrying to the steam community. But so far I don't worry right now, I worry when they might start releasing more NFT-related content.

They are fully aware. They have been banning their forum users for months, long before any of this was confirmed. It's a very serious and legitimate conspiracy.

  • Walking animations work with controllers. Left 4 Dead's tank has a walking animation, too

Hey. I'm one of those "Exclusive Demographics". Been buying every Rift since it started, even went as far as buying tiers when I was busy during that rift. Even made sure to have my killers look as unique and as different as possible to the regular skins if I can help it.

I assure you I won't be buying the current one nor any other cosmetics after this.

There are some people with more money than sense though.

It won't surprise me if that is why BHVR is supporting crypto and NFTs though, that scene is full of people like that

If you could refund everything you purchased at this point, would you?

  • @Freddy96 said:

That's not what matters to devs, this game could lose 40k players and devs wouldn't care as long as the remaining community would spend an increasing amount on money on the game.

What will matter is who will pay the dlc with real money or not

This is 100% facts. However, superficial cosmetics can only carry a company so far. Most of the skins cater to an exclusive demographic.

allow these "business values" to sink in for a moment. i just thought i'd add this here because it's very clear on where behaviour's stance is regarding this matter, and more than likely gives insight to how they will do "business" with others in the future.

I once pointed this part of the website out to a mod in an effort to have my ban rescinded. My effort was selectively ignored. Accountability is not found anywhere within their company mission statements.

  • Ds should deactivate if you're healed by others, it should deactivate if you go into a locker, and ds shouldn't work on self unhooks. Then it might be balanced.

  • It's a useless addon at 1. The amount of time required to reload each and every hatchet is a detriment to the huntress' time management. It's faster to use regular hatchets and an axe strike, skip the locker altogether and get back onto map pressure.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Yep, you are absolutely right. The hatch got gutted more than keys. Amazingly, they also have yet to do anything to prevent the remaining survivors from stealthing around the map waiting out other survivors to die. They could have at least alleviated this issue for our killer players.

I am someone with thousands of hours on PC since 2016 and mobile since release. On DbD Mobile, my solo queue teammates are almost always such potatoes that I have to run a key and hatch offering just to feel I can escape for doing my part. I am usually carrying the heaviest amount of gen work just to get the current minimum three gens done, while they are going down in 30 seconds or less every chase. Now I won’t even have that option to have some sort of personal escape and victory even if their matchmaking and player base is **** awful.

Also, think how devalued the Black Silk Cord is with this change. 10,000 BP item (not including one other optional add-on) just to track a hatch if and only if you’re the last survivor in the trial. Lol.

So yes, this will only exasperate the problem for survivors.

This is a solid response filled with understanding of the circumstances ahead.

  • Sorry, but "too many hurt feelings". The people in charge of the censor are highly indulged in their political perspectives, despite BHVRs website boldly stating they don't indulge in politics. It's hypocritical but it is the most sensible explanation; if those in charge were not politically charged, then there wouldn't be any censors.

It's not even slurs anymore, it's common words, survivor names, phrases that are otherwise benign in or out of context.

Perhaps the Canadian company does not believe in free speech, but this kind of overreaching effort to limit chat is laughable at best.

  • Dead hard is stupid easy to play around. Always bait it out or instadown the survivor. It's a conditional perk, so deny the conditions that make dead hard possible.

  • Pairs OKish with a needle med kit. Having more options to heal and multitask is really nice. I wouldn't run it without perks that compliment it, like lucky break or spine chill.

Doesn't work with alot of other healing perks so it's very niche, and it can be lost in trial due to its conditional nature

It’s weird how Nurse and spirit are the only killers where there special attacks count as basic attacks

Those aren't special attacks. Those are normal attacks that occur immediately following their special ability. Blights special ability attack is always a lunge. As either nurse or spirit, you can perform either a lunge or a basic attack.

Although Legion can lunge or basic attack during a frenzy, it causes deep wounds, which means it's not a basic attack.

Wraith comes out of cloak and enjoys enhanced movement speed, but that is a lunge or a basic attack, not a special.

Onis big club is a special attack.

Trapper can attack trapper survivors, but that's not a special attack.

Really dreading having to earn these again when I switch to PS5

I earned both of those. Evil incarnate is harder because survivors will pick up on what you're doing and jump into lockers. I ran out of add-ons too at one point and had to grind it out. The trial I earned the achievement was a grueling, miserable effort. It was not pleasant.

Left 4 Dead is actually much more doable with Fast Track, fortunately I earned mine before they updated bills perk.

I was just made aware of this and in my opinion it is completely inexcusable and kind of supports the nasty people who ruin this game for others. I myself have ran into this hacker. The community needs to be made aware of this behavior and the user was banned for naming the hacker. That's why I'm not naming names. Once enough people are made aware or the mods address it we can talk about said people.

For the mods, what is the thought process behind this? Are you trying to glorify hackers ruining the game for others? Then you ban people for trying to stand up against them and making the community aware of it. Real bad look right now. I enjoy my time interacting with this community but this is pretty trashy.

What's a killer you're 100% certain is never getting in the game. The devs have confirmed Jeepers Creepers is never getting in due to the director's crimes, but I'm positive the human centipede, Jaws, & the splice creature from Splice are never making it in.

Regarding Jaws, technically the greener mk. 2 made it in with the Deathslinger. That's the same gun that's used in Jaws.

Your assumption is overtly biased - as evidenced by your negative regard for BHVR; whereas others may be assuming, but their assumption is based in logic and precedence.

Not an assumption at all. Fact is, Bhvr losing a license IS the precedence and there's plenty of bias against netflix found throughout the forum topics. Logic is based only what we think we know, pieced together without extrapolation. Given the limited information, it would be assumption to believe netflix is at fault and it would be extrapolation to suggest their upcoming gaming platform is the cause. Additionally, netflix may have a major ST license, but it's owned by the duffer bros.

How about we analyze all the possibilities?

    1. Netflix somehow revoking license, which is not lucrative. This is despite their own game platform because money is money.

    2. BHVR for mismanaging their game and the licenses thereof. They do not take good care of their #1 game, and most of their IP falls off the map.

    3. Duffers intervention because they own stranger things. They have a preceding lawsuit regarding the original material and license thereof, way back when things were ramping up.

    4. Simply a lack of renewal, blame everyone involved. That would mean Bhvr's mismanagement is still a pillar in this regard

    5. ???

It would seem obvious to blame netflix, however, they are the least likely to have pulled any strings. Why? Because they don't pull licenses from their platform. There is countless precedence of owners pulling licenses from netflix, but there is little to no precedence that netflix has revoked anything on their platform (except for cultural reasons). In fact, netflix is in the business of handing out licenses. That is a fact. Once you understand what each company's corporate gains are, one realizes that pulling a license is quite literally the opposite of what they would do and what they have done.

Bhvr is at fault, at the very least, partially. Netflix is most likely NOT the culprit, even partially.

  • @Okapi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2459392#Comment_2459392

You're wrong. ST is leaving DBD because Netflix is ending all their game licensing deals. They want their IPs in games to be exclusive to the Netflix streaming service when games are added. The games streaming service is already in a beta test for Poland Netflix users and it comes with multiple ST games.

That's an obvious assumption, and intuitive given the events you described. However, consider that this is BHVR we are talking about. Netflix exchanges licenses all the times, shows come and go, some series are mainstays and some are not. It highly more likely that BHVRs mismanagement is why the licenses have been revoked, not as a direct result of Netflix or it's shenanigans.

  • @indieeden7 said:

My guy, the chapter was only added a couple of months ago, they have a while before the license needs renewed, and even then I doubt Capcom revoke it seeing as they've done countless crossovers in the past.

Lol this Capcom we are talking about. And it's more likely that BHVRs mismanaged licenses than netflix revoking it.
