Alright, remove the 3 seconds, and make it instant 😉
Stay at 17 meters.

Actually, these mechanics would only activate if the killer is receiving the proximity penalty for their chaser emblem.
This means the killer has to be within a 16 meter range to the hooked survivor, while there aren't any survivors within a 16 meter range to the hooked survivor.
Once this happens for 15 seconds, I think, you'll receive the proximity penalty for your chaser emblem, and receive some of the punishments I've listed above. If a survivor ever tries to contest the hook while the penalty is activate, it will slowly dissipate in a 3 second window and everything will reset.
No matter how much you dress this up, it's still a mechanic that was objectively proven to be a failure.
3 seconds, you say? Fine, just dip in and out of the 16-meter range, which forces the killer to remain in that range to defend.
And the best (worst) part? This idea - any idea that's based on punishment, in fact - will only affect people who camp when survivors make it worthwhile, because the ones who do it to grief will do it regardless.
-
Why add Jason Voorhees?

I would say Spirit has a higher chance when Iron Will isn't involved, IMO.
Which would make it more balanced. A single survivor should not have a 50/50 chance against the killer, that's absurd.
-
Let's say you're completely right. Say it's a 50/50. All this means is that there's a 50% chance the Spirit will lose. In other words, you have a chance during a chase.
-
He won because rather than try to break the totem or GTFO, the survivors fell for the obvious bait. He won because rather than break the totems despite being up against a bad killer, you decided to ignore your secondary objective.
Stop pretending you lost because of NOED and start taking responsibility for your actions.
-
Not really, no. It's understandable in some cases (dodging griefers and the like, but it's not OK). That said, I would rather a killer dodged me than having them disconnect mid-game.
-
Disregarding the fact that three data points do not a trend make, in two out of three scenarios, according to your own assessment, survivors fed (i.e.: played poorly) and predictably lost because of it.
Your proposed solution, therefore, is to punish killers by buffing survivors and introducing a mechanic that was already proven to be a failure. Do I have that right?

Killers already receive a debuff on ranking system when they do this. Like it or not, thats Bhvr idea to punish killers who do this.
My idea is just a plus.
They did that because they wanted to improve the survivor experience. However, they didn't believe anyone who told them killers don't camp for the BP nor the pips. The idea was misguided from the start (no surprise, since it came from survivor mains).

Could work on the same concept.
Or not be done at all, since no playstyle that doesn't break the rules should be punished. Just because you don't like what someone else is doing doesn't mean they should be punished. I don't like this thread nor this idea, so should you be banned?
-
Report, ignore, move on.
-
I'd rather see one for the survivors who camp the hook instead of working on generators. Those piss me off more than the killer in my face.
-
My self-imposed ruleset as killer:
- Don't cheat, exploit, or otherwise break the rules.
My self-imposed ruleset as survivor:
- Don't cheat, exploit, or otherwise break the rules.
Pretty straightforward.

Just make her 115% and apply deep wound with stun also being stunned when looked at.
Hang on, you want survivors to have to turn their camera toward her? Just have her be auto stunned every few seconds. 100% balanced.

Remarkable. You are justifying a killer being overpowered because survivors are trying to justify themselves having OP #########.
######### amazing.
No, I'm applying the same standard to both situations. Fact is, I acknowledge that the Nurse has OP add-ons and they should be nerfed. However, base Nurse is 100% fine and makes the game one of skill vs. skill. If you lose against the Nurse, you're worse than the person playing her, end of story.

You clearly havent played Trapper Wraith etc. on rank 1 than. There are situations where low tier killers cant do anything to win the game. It just depends on the survivors. High tier killers on the other hand depend on how good you can play them. Therefore give a plain playing field where skill of survivors and killer decide the outcome.
I'm guessing that's the whole point, make killers worthless.

.... That's a joke right?
It's an exaggeration and using the same standard as when survivor nerfs are mentioned.
Fact is, most Nurse players are bad. That's why she has such a low kill rate at the most populated ranks. Therefore, since we're balancing for the average, she shouldn't be nerfed, and outliers should be ignored.

You can ostensibly delete posts on this forum by editing them to be inappropriate.
Or, better yet, just flag your comments you want deleted, and the mods will take care of it. As a bonus, you won't get a warning for making inappropriate comments.
-
It's a double-edged sword. If you exclude too many spots, then only a few will be left, making the totems even easier to find. If you don't exclude enough spots, they can spawn in ridiculous areas. That's why, a while back, I proposed areas where totems can spawn to be spread throughout the maps. These areas would be dangerous to go into and get out of, to make cleansing totems harder.
-
If you're not enjoying the game, then yes. It's what everyone does when they don't enjoy a game.

Just put your Steam profile link on my forum profile and I'll send you a friend request.

My only problem with NOED: survivors who don't break totems.
You are not exempt from countering a perk and also exempt from its effects. This is entitlement of the highest order.

The first actual problem I've read opposing my theory and suggestion. Agreed, that is definitely something that would probably happen. But unless the killer keeps leaving and destroying his/her reputation, this wont really be worth the effort
If that's the first one you've seen, then you should go back and actually read the rest of the comments. At least half a dozen problems were listed.

Lmao I'd hope anything related to real life is more important than a game. Please use logic in your arguments rather than fallacies that sound good to you
All the reasons mentioned in this thread are invalid and based on made-up rules, so I figured I'd bring some facts. If you don't like the facts, well, that's your problem. They're not gonna change.

Disconnect ratio is less accurate since people disconnect for a multitude of valid reasons, as stated earlier. Restate your question here if it's on this topic
There's only one category of valid reasons for disconnecting, and that's when something in the real world requires your attention.
-
@MySpaceBarsBroken said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/588446#Comment_588446
Who said that? Every disconnecter? Lmao. You can compare the rate of disconnect from this game to any other game with integrity and a working punishment system. The disconnect rate is much higher in dbd. So is it just a toxic community..? No. It's more complicated than you're perceiving it to be.
No, just the ones who've spoken up. Which is better than all the zero you've spoken with.
If you were to add proper punishments for disconnecting, like in every other multiplayer game ever, it will work out. Unless, of course, you have a hypothesis as to why it works in every other multiplayer game ever made, but wouldn't work in DbD.
-
@MonsterInMyMind said:
Honestly this is a horrible design because you rely on people to rate each other fairly thats not how it works man maybe in other games it works but dbd nah this wouldnt work to many babies.
It doesn't work in any game. Players should never be allowed to influence the matchmaker. The very notion is absurd.
-
@MySpaceBarsBroken said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/588430#Comment_588430
You think people disconnect purely for that reason? That's not very open minded or logical. People dont leave because they can. They leave because something is happening in the game to invoke extremely discomfort and unenjoyable experience, so much so that they bite the bullet of screwong their team and leave.
Except they've literally said they leave because they can.

I have played several hundred hours of TTT, and on most servers, a low karma leads to a kick and/or ban from the server, ensuring that only people who aren't griefers actually stay on the server, which guarantees a good and healthy experience for everyone except when the odd griefer pops in.
On the servers that low karma doesn't lead to kicks and/or bans, griefers run rampant.
In other words, in my experience, bans and kicks are extremely effective. I don't know how you believe otherwise.

I thought "manning up" meant not taking ######### from other people. Apparently it means to be submissive and just let people ######### all over you. I should take note of this.
-
That's not rank hacking, that's just people not playing for a long time. If and when I play killer again, I will also be low rank, despite having a ton of experience.
The argument could be made for taking into account playtime as an additional matchmaking measurement, but what you described isn't indicative of hacking.

@Orion Well I sure don’t see that brain of yours putting anything useful in.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/660/BT6YGGXQ22SJ.jpeg
This was taken from the DBD Tv tropes site, which tells a whole lot about the characters and what tv trope they fit. This goes along with the fact that she could be the key to defeating her (The Entity) But would require some kind of comprehension of the elderitch being.
TV Tropes is a wiki that compiles opinions. It's irrelevant in determining actual lore.
As for what I said previously, let me make it perfectly simple:
- Hope is food for the Entity. Saying that Kate is so hopeful that she's a threat is like saying that food that is too nutritious for you could kill you.

Yeah but in order to do that you need to send in video proof, including opening their profiles. Most people would just get pissed and move on or rage quit
You need video proof, but you don't need to open their profiles. An in-game report will give the devs that information.

still no excuse to make them removable at the first box, i as a killer feel so robbed when they get it off in the first one when it could've actually slowed them down, whats funny is even when i use 2 VERY RARE add ons (jigsaw's sketch + crate of gears) they still have a chance to remove it first try
Either it's perfectly random, and therefore fair, or you take away the randomness entirely and balance around a deterministic ruleset. Can't have it both ways.

@BlackMercury I would go on to say Kate could probably take her on (The Entity) because she has so much hope and is literally a beacon of light, that even she could rival that of The Entity.
That's like saying a large enough piece of bacon could beat you up.

Indeed. It was in the very first PTB, in fact.

Variety is the spice of life. I wouldn't mind trading out gens entirely for an entirely new system. Or perhaps add more things necessary to complete a match.
Example for second one: 2 special fragments are hidden around the map somewhere and they must be collected. Collecting these fragments will enable you to bring down the entity's barrier on the door locks. The pedestals where these fragments are placed are in two places. one in the central building and one in a random location a certain number of tiles away.
simple enough in theory, Complete gens as normal....and keep an eye out for a fragment. (only 1 is needed to complete the barrier dissolving.) find fragment before last gen pops hopefully, dissolve barrier, open gates/hatch, leave.)
It will probably need some tweaking, but it's an idea to keep the current system and still add on to it.
Long ago, I suggested something that wouldn't require any big implementations: simply make objectives personal. TL;DR, each survivor goes in and has to complete a certain number of objectives to be able to escape. We already have plenty of interactions and events that could be used for this (totems, generators, chases, etc.). Survivors who have not completed their objectives cannot escape nor open the exit gates.
It would also solve the gen rush issue, since, RNG aside, survivors wouldn't have a shared objective that they can work on simultaneously.

Family abuse is the child's problem, they should deal with it. Doesn't work that way eh? same with your logic
Also I would love to know where he has ever said that he thinks himself as a "legend" and his name is not an excuse, but if you are gonna go with that, then your telling a lot about what you think is right to you, at most, he ever just says that he just has more common knowledge and better understanding of the game then most people, and as well he does acknowledge that other people have a better or same level of understanding as he does, but he never said that he considers himself a legend, so I don't know where you got that, also, he does have the fog whispers, so, that should tell you why he talks a lot about the games balance.
Streamers are not children. A better example would be a construction worker neglecting to wear a helmet and then complaining that something heavy was dropped on him and he was injured.
There are tools to mitigate stream sniping that you should use if you're afraid of being sniped (or are, in fact, being sniped). If you do not make use of those, that's nobody's fault but your own.
EDIT: To be clear, the snipers are to blame for sniping, but the streamers do have options to stop them.

An M1 killer is a killer whose power doesn't actively help them during a chase.

Mushwin's high downvote count is primarily due to a single thread, whose OP received at least 100 downvotes (the 100th being mine). After that, downvoting Mushwin became a meme of sorts. It was an anomaly, nothing more.

@Spirit_Hag Thank you for further adding onto what counters Spirit has. It's incredible that people quote me stating she is uncounterable when I LISTED a couple of counters to her in said qoute.
What has been listed so far: She moves grass, has footstep sounds, and disturbs crows when phasing. All of which are noticeable inside her terror radius. She also has an audio cue while phasing(when outside terror radius).
To add further, if you suspect she's faking her power then run towards and slow vault a window or flashlight her. When she messes up and is without relevant add ons her recharge time is slow which punishes her with 110% movement speed. If she chose recharge time addons that takes the place of other possible ones like speed or duration. If you make it into a guessing game you are playing against her wrong and deserve to lose.
ALL THE ABOVE COUNTERS ARE WITHOUT USING PERKS. WITH PERKS, SPINE CHILL AND IRON WILL ARE EXCELLENT AGAINST ALL KILLERS INCLUDING SPIRIT.
Maybe, the issue here is that those complaining about Spirit are bad at the game. At the very least bad at playing against her.
Again, it is entirely possible to escape vs a good Spirit. It's difficult, as it should be, but possible. Just as it's possible for a good Spirit to do well against good survivors.
She does not move grass, FYI. That's a misconception.
-
No. I was there when it was darker and foggier and it was a pain in the ass.
-
Because it's impossible to prove. Therefore, you should take precautions, such as:
- Not making your name a link to your stream. This is the stream sniping equivalent of walking through "bad neighborhoods" wearing your most expensive jewelry.
- Adding a stream delay. Yes, this will make it difficult to interact with your viewers, but it'll also make it impossible for stream snipers to know where you are and what you're doing.

Then people should start learning to read the whole post and not just the title. The title is never represent the whole post.
Then you should write better titles. If you say "Everything was better before!?" (by the way, check Betteridge's law of headlines), don't be surprised when people point out that was not the case, at all.
