  • The entity makes them. The only real animal in the realms is Maurice, the clown's horse.

  • Ah, it was my controller plugged in laying on its controller, may be a similar issue for you.

  • I am also having this happen, however it has been when I play killer. Haven't tried survivor this patch yet.

There is no killer or survivor. Its just the charm. Please dont get our hopes up.

it's a chapter, meaning at minimum there is a killer. Most likely there's a killer and survivor, possibly there's a second survivor and possibly a map.

  • I loved old freddy. I miss playing Freddy because I love the character but I find his new power so boring.

That said, his old power was problematic in a lot of ways, we shouldn't get the same power as it was, even a little bit buffed. But I think the concept is worth attempting again. A killer with long-range aura reading that can keep track of survivors across the map, and a killer who feels like they truely exist in a different dimension. It felt so cool having Freddy and a surv in the same space but unable to interact.

I could see them doing something like this with the candyman if they got his license, or with an original killer of course.

One thing that would make a long-term aura-reading a bit more understandable to new players: Put a status effect like 'Watched" on survivors that informs them when their aura is being revealed to him. Don't put it on all aura reading, just him specifically and maybe some other aura reading like wallhack plague.

  • Yes. You can complete every level of the rift before buying the pass if you like and you will unlock all the premium rewards at once

Some of that might just be luck of the draw as well. What I mean by that is that DbD isn't exactly pulling in, say, Overwatch number of players. So, it's only going to have so many players in each MMR bracket to make even(ish) matches with. As that number dwindles because they're now in a match, it's going to see longer queue times for some, at which point it then opens the range further to make matches.

MMR is always going to have some widely uneven matches. Hell, my team suffers that in Quick Play and Quick Play Classic in Overwatch where some matches, sometimes an entire night worth of matches, end up being complete stomps one way or the other. And those modes use a hidden MMR with a much larger playerbase to draw from.

Thing is, I was having mostly very balanced games and quick queue times before mmr, there had been ample players to keep that up. But as soon as mmr turned on, i was matching people who haddn't played before. So either everyone I had been playing with previously suddenly dissipated, or the mmr severely misjudged who I should face.

  • I had the opposite experience. I have almost 3000 hours mostly on many different killers. I played some killers that I have done well with recently, but I was getting matched with people who had literally just started playing, they didn't seem to have a clue how to play. Playing as survivor was the same thing but the killer was experienced, just the other survivors weren't.

  • It is a licensing issue. Having locked cosmetics was a requirement from Konami. The locked cosmetics added since have been partially to normalise it, partially because they might as well go nuts with stuff like onitaur.

They can't say it's a licensing issue, that would be a big no no. Not only is discussing details of a license agreement just a bad idea, but also it would be pointing the players to be mad at konami instead of them, which is a worse idea. Both of those are easy invitations to a lawsuit or at the very least ensuring they get no more cosmetics.

And finally, konami doesn't give a ######### about us. They decided long ago that they'd rather make money instead of games, and they're already making money off dbd and those cosmetics. The chance of them caring enough about the few more people who would buy cosmetics if they weren't locked, to then go adjust their license agreement, is very dam slim.

All that said, it's still good to raise your concerns and thoughts, better than staying silent. Atleast bhvr knows our feelings about locked sets and that we'd very much like less of them. We're unlikely to influence any of Cheryl's sets, but hopefully we can influence future sets.

  • Dwight's actually based on a real person who doesn't work at bhvr but was a friend of the office. Just happens to bear a strong resemblance to MCote as well. A few survivors are like that, the rl version of Jake was on a dev stream once.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Bubba hands down. No - and I mean no - other killer has his camp, and especially facecamp, potential. On top of that, his chase potential (either drop a pallet or be downed, even if healthy).

Doc can repeatedly shock the hook and it will be literally impossible for anyone to unhook unless they have desperate measures, they get stunned just before unhooking. He can't get more downs doing this but he is the outright best at confirming a single facecamp kill

  • He doesn't run through survivors but doesn't bounce off them either, more he just slides against them. Because he doesn't bounce off them, he can still rush if they're right up against him, unlike when he is up against a wall and facing it. However it can be harder for him to hit them if they are very close when he starts the rush, since he needs to rush and then swing instantly, and that can be difficult for newer blights.

  • All of them can, keeping rank 1-2 isn't too hard, any killer can average atleast 2ks without trouble. Clown might fall into 3 if you get some real tough games since he struggles with pressure. Trapper might as well just because he's so feast or famine.

But yeah wraith and legion are extra strong at pips compared to their lethality.

  • Go to the center of the map or the gens you want to defend. Ideally position yourself near but a little out of view of a gen for a surprise attack when you switch back. Then scout with Victor.

If you hit someone with Victor, don't commit to finding them with Charlotte automatically, it may be best to send Victor out again to hit someone else for more pressure, or to roam somewhere else with Charlotte to pressure directly, like if everyone else is on a gen. You always want Charlotte to be wherever you need to defend, and use Victor to pressure the rest of the map.

  • No one wants a character who's entire persona is defined by "they gay", no real person is like that.

People like having characters they can relate to, and it's not like a gay person can't relate to straight characters, but they can't relate to any in that particular aspect, whereas straight people can. Sexual identity is still part of identity.

There's plenty of characters who're confirmed straight, and that's not a big deal, a character being confirmed gay shouldn't be a big deal either, they should just be yet another unique character. There's no reason one shouldn't be added, so why not add one?

  • @Withered8 said:

I had someone with the twins camp a basement in shack by blocking of both entries with Charlotte and Victor, and all they would do is wait for someone to use the window and go down and they would just grab onto them as Victor and then smack with Charlotte. tell me the counterplay to that.

That's just facecamping with added steps, plenty of killers can do that and make it impossible to save without trading, the only counterplay is to do gens and let the person die.

  • The cooldown doesn't need to be longer, crushing Viktor already means they have to.

    • Wait for him to grow back.
    • Release him again.
    • Run him to where ever you are.

And then get another attempt at attacking you, which you can counter if they fail, forcing them to do it all over.

It's like demogorgon, his shred is powerful but can be dodged, and he'll loose a little time in the chase for messing it up. He can try again quickly but can still mess it up again, and each time he does he's just wasting more time.

having the camera be low is a hinderence, since it makes tracking visually more difficult, and makes him more susceptible to LoS blocking in many cases vs a taller killer. The kicker though is that he is visually represented as being much taller than his PoV, which means that he doesn't even get the benefit of being harder for survivors to see at loops. He literally gets the worst of both halves of the height dynamic.

You're 100% correct but I still love it.

Nah before the last patch you could turn it to a certain degree and get some major predictions, but now it's locked in to an animation, wherever the knife goes in it's locked to that specific location. He's almost completely useless at loops now, there striping him of everything that made him fun at launch. They might as well rework his power because I'm sure he'll drop even further after the new changes and strangely enough I tried to R2 my attack today after using Rights Of Judgement and it was completely locked for 2 seconds. The shadow nerfs are there.

I stand by that he has never been able to turn his attack in place, I've never done it or seen it from anyone else playing him, if you have a vid I'd be very interested to see it.

If you step forward you can turn but while standing in place you cannot turn at all, the attack always launches in front. If you're holding a camera direction when you attack, you will turn right after the launch and it feels like your attack turned, but it really didn't. Perhaps that was changed so that you can't flick your camera in that way anymore, but that wouldn't impact the attack. Also if you're directly in melee when you launch, your attack will lock on to the survivor like a normal swing, that's the only way your attack can actually turn as far as I know.

That said, I play on keyboard and mouse, perhaps it genuinely was different on controller and it got changed to match?

  • I love his crotch camera. I imagine it's meant to make him feel much more hunched over and accentuate the hunchback from his perspective, which is very much what it does for me. I know it's silly, it doesn't match his actual model's stance, it makes corn and swamp grass a total pain. And yet I love it so much, feeling so small and yet so fast just makes him feel so frantic and crazed to play, I really enjoy it.

  • He's never been able to launch at an angle, that's a major weakness of him.

What he can do however is quickly flick his aim just before finishing the "stab knife in ground" animation, before his turning gets locked. This gives the impression of flicking and can take people off guard all the same if you launch the attack quickly enough.

  • The low camera angle definitely hurts him but tbh I love it too much, I feel like a little coke gremlin.

Bigger issue with swamp maps though is def that he just cannot bump into stumps and some hill sides, even if you're staring straight at them.

  • Mr Hyde was a clear inspiration for blight and his cosmetics thusfar seem to have drawn from that, particularly the top hat. I'd still like to see a better version of that aesthetic down the line, just because I didn't like the look of them that much.

    Werewolf / bestial thing definitely.

They mentioned they tried some insectoid, mandible faces on him, I'd love to see what those look like. His concept arts had him looking a lot ganglier with stretched out limbs like demogorgon so I hope we see something a bit closer to that.

  • His addons weren't changed, just the wording was. It used to say they increase the duration of teir 3 and the ammount of evil required to reach it. Now it says they increase the duration of teir 3, and only the amount of evil required for the first teir 3, which is how they've always behaved.

  • Jekyll and Hyde yes, except blight is more Hyde than Jekyll

  • I've made use of it by baiting survivors into triggering it. Go to a gen, pretend to look for survivor, kick and pretend to leave. Then watch the perk icon for when the timer resets, as the scream sometimes doesn't play. I'm probably wasting almost as much time as I'm saving with the expose, but it has gotten me a couple of clutch downs, plus its fun.

  • Yeah it looks like it sort of sticks to his hand when he tries to toss it. really hoping they fix that.

One time on ptb I happened to flick my camera when he tossed it, and I threw it across the map. It was beautiful.

  • 8/10

Had a great time playing him on ptb, he is outrageously fun, and even with his jank he was still pretty effective when played with some creativity. Also super exited for a killer building upon existing lore, I think the character of the blight is neat too.

I was anticipating more of a clever schemer type character, I'm sure the alchemist would have been more like that were he still the alchemist. If he were still the alchemist I would probably be at 10/10. But I think the mastermind devolved into a feral beast is also a very interesting character to play, he'll definitely be one of my favorites.

  • I second this, and Micheal did do it first, though only glass in this case, this door still proved to be very solid until he showed up: https://youtu.be/kea9YaG-BVo

This door gave Laurie (and I think someone else earlier but I don't remember) so much trouble when they were trying to get away from him, then he just walks through it like he didn't even notice it, so badass.

  • Definitely old Freddy. He needs another rework bad to inject some life back into him. Old Freddy had potential but was way too inconsistent and janky, so they made him invariably consistent and now he's just dull. I especially loved how it really felt like he was on a different plane of existence from awake survivors. I hope a new killer comes around with an updated version of his power but I'd prefer it to be Freddy as just being claw man is half the fun.

  • I agree. I loved him before, just because I enjoy the character and I guess I liked the challenge. It was always very satisfying to do well with an underestimated killer, and I often got messages from people surprised and pleased that I played bubba, didn't facecamp, and still was a challenge.

But I'm also very glad that he's much stronger. I find his power fun to use, I stand a better chance against the stronger survivor squads. I do think it's a little on the strong side though, but I also think survivors are still working out how to play around it.

Also speed limiter is tons of fun now. You can chainsaw ontop of them and then catch up after their speed boost.

  • Unpopular opinion but I think the minotaur oni skin is stupid. Oni's deault design is already so awesome almost none of his skins actually improve upon it imo, his default appearance is perhaps my favourite skin. But to replace Kazan "Oni" Yamaoaka with generic moose man is so stupid. I want to be hunted by the Oni, on his quest to exterminate the false samauri, as well as anyone else too weak to stand before him. But instead Im running from big angery cow. It doesn't look too bad design wise but it looks ridiculous in game, and it's still a downgrade from Oni's default appearance..

I also hate the new hag skin but that's because it's gross and ugly in good ways.

For survivors, p3 claud, just because it's easy mode and there's little more frustrating than seeing players think they're hot because they can 360 in corn but the truth is they're just invisible.

  • Ptbs are usually 2-3 weeks. This tuesday (wednesday for us oceanics) will be 2 weeks of ptb.

This ptb started a little earlier than expected so I expect it'll last until next tuesday, we might get a ptb patch this week, or possibly a video, or possibly nothing.

  • If I see there's no obsession I will actively avoid tunneling. first just out of respect, second because tunneling sucks. Same goes for games with obsession, only time I'll really tunnel is if someone chooses to use their ds aggressively, they've decided to trade defense for offense and that's a trade they should be prepared for.

  • Farming can usually mean 1 of 2 things.

    1. A survivor unhooks another survivor without giving them any protection and while the killer is very likely to just down the unhooked survivor right away. The survivor is farming the other survivor, getting them killed for points without caring about how it will impact the team.
    2. The survivors and killer playing together just to earn as much points as possible rather than to kill or escape. The killer may let the survivors drop pallets and make flash saves etc, the survivors will let the killer hook them each twice and smack them a bunch. This is called a farm game, everyone in this game is farming.

These are just terms coined by the community, there's no official definition.

Yea but the heat gained when revving was bad enough as it was. Now you don’t loose that heat fast enough when on cool down to be able to constantly be revving, unless you stand and wait at a loop for 10 seconds after each time you try to flick. I havnt seen a single flick billy since the changes and I don’t think I will for a while.

Also you play on OCE don’t you? Think I’ve seen u around

I haven't felt it be that bad but granted I am still pretty garbo at the flicks so I dunno. I definitely get to make plenty of attempts at flicks, to the point where I'm basically throwing the game, and I still only overheat quite rarely, even without addons to counter it. Also yes I do play on oce.

  • @Withered8 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1574042#Comment_1574042

You know they nerfed the cool down recently right? It now takes somewhere around 30 seconds for your chainsaw to cool down now if it hasn’t fully overheated. Revving will destroy your chainsaw in really short periods so you can’t constantly rev at loops any more, which means flicking shack and jungle gyms is insanely hard. You basically have to commit to a flick now and you don’t have time to mind game it.

The nerf was a reduction to the rate of heat dissipation while not charging, it only affects the speed at which his chainsaw cools down while you're not using it. So the only thing it affects is getting slightly less cooldown in the small time between flick attempts, the amount of time you can keep your chainsaw up to mindgame with is unaffected, except that you might have a few more points of heat when you start.

  • @Withered8 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1570772#Comment_1570772

alot of people played billy for the flicks but it’s almost impossible to do so now with the cool down changes,

Flicks are utterly unchanged. Even if you are nonstop attempting flicks it's gonna take a couple of gens worth of attempts to overheat. And even if you do somehow manage to overheat you can always put on a cooldown reducing addon while you're learning to flick.

  • I still see him as survivor as much as I see other killers. What I see much less of is instasaw billies, which I am massively thankful for. Also I now play as him a bunch, didn't play him very often before but his touch up made me more interested in him and now he's one of my favourites.

He really wasn't harmed at all by his changes.

Even if you go for chainsaws at every single opportunity you're still not likely to overheat more than once a game, and when you do overheat it doesn't lose you the game or anything, you just do normal killer stuff for a few seconds and then back to sawing.

His addons never mattered very much. Billy's one of the killers that can reck shop with basekit, addons are just flair on top. He doesn't need any charge addons, backreving is still easy as ######### with or without them. But without them survivors can atleast know consistently what amount of time they have to juke, rather than having to guess or watch him chainsaw someone else first. The only other time you'd want charge addons is to offset the speed addons, but if you're using them for flicks around loops you can still control the survivor's position while you're charging up.

The worst thing about billy's changes is that he has several addons dedicated to mitigating his overheat, which is a no-factor to begin with. But everything about how he plays is exactly the same except instasaw which, no one wanted to keep except the billys who used it.

  • no one was asking for a battlepass system

They had done polls prior about what things people would like added to the game. The Battlepass type option was very highly voted among those. Many many people were asking for a battlepass system, you just weren't one of them.

no one forced them to release a battlepass when it clearly wasn't even ready (example: first battlepass has a completely purple arcade cabinet charm - it looks awful, it would have been easy to make it look passable by giving it some sort of texture that isn't literally all purple)

You're totally right, that one mediocre charm is evidence that the battlepass wasn't remotely ready for release. All the other cosmetics, the lore entries, the archives, the cutscenes, how could any of that be released on schedule when this charm looks bad.

  • Approx 5 minutes is the ideal time for experience/shard gain.

  • Chill my dude. Cross progression is complicated to implement in games that weren't built with it in mind. But it has been announced that cross progression is being worked on and will probably be coming very soon, before the end of the year most likely.

  • Telling the killer in post-match lobby that their killer is boring or unfun is just rude. I wouldn't list all the things survivors do that I enjoy, let's both play for our fun first.

Tunneling and camping aren't fun for anyone. If it's someone who seems to think they're untouchable then yeah it'll be great when they die first, but downing and re-hooking someone right as their taken off hook, or facecamping someone to death isn't demonstrating any kind of skill or competition, it's just trying to switch the match into easy mode.

Camping and tunneling are however far too effective still. Moderate tunneling is the optimal strategy at high ranks and I think it would be better if we moved the game away from that. And no matter how many times people say 'just do gens' it won't happen. There will always be one person who goes for a stupid save, now only 2 people are doing gens and it spirals into a 4k. The fact that just facecamping with bubba or doc will get you at least 2 kills since the gens won't all be done after the first dies, is really stupid.

Once the gens are done though and there's no other objectives on the map, defending and trading hooks should be the killer's priority. What the hell else am I gonna do, follow you to the exit gate? No it's the end game now so you better bring some teamwork and coordination if you want to make a hook save.

  • Noed and adrenaline exist only to balance each other out, the game would be better if we just removed both of them.

Just because something gets nerfed doesn't mean the devs thought it was overpowered. Sometimes things should behave differently than they do, even if it means making it slightly weaker. Eg: the many changes to deep wounds, even though legion was pretty weak then.

All killers are viable. They won't win every game, but they all can win even against good survivors. If I can 4k as speed-limiter bubba, I can do anything.

I like the meme addons. I just wish they didn't clutter up my bloodweb. They should each come with a mystery extra addon of the same level, like the boxes.

The community is much nicer than it's made out to be. Most post-match lobbies I see have a couple of ggs, many of them have us ending up as friends, only a tiny amount are toxic.

Blight is gonna be quite a strong killer. Anyone with that much raw mobility will be very effective, he just has some quality of life issues holding him back.

Old Freddy was more enjoyable than current to play and to face. He was extremely unique, probably the most unique we will ever see, and he was much more powerful than people thought if you played him right. (phase mindgames, playing strategic, prioritizing pressure over downs). He was too inconsistent, confusing, and janky but he should have been fixed, not reworked, I hope we get something like him again.

Using DS offensively is fine, but that means you've given up your defense and I will feel no qualms about tunneling you afterwards.

Object of Obsession is an open invitation to tunnel. It's designed to be high risk and high reward, and it's too much power for the killer to just let them be.

Same with key, because if the key holder lasts till the end of the game, they have a good chance of ending the game early, and that's something the killer can't risk.

People with no mither deserve one free slug per game purely for their boldness.

Is the Blight the person in the cut scenes of the hallowed blight event? The one experimenting on killers with the formula and at the end he says "The entity has found me".

Yes. He was called the alchemist at this point, and he was also in the first tome. The first tome shows more of how he became the blight.

It only states that he escaped from the void, not from the Entity itself. Talbot made the mental leap from the void to escaping the entity, but he is an unreliable narrator at best.

Ah right, I assumed void was being used as a simile for entity, but actually it would have been referring to the part of the entity where it discards the people that have been drained of all use, which is actually called the void. That's where we saw Talbot entering in the first tome, meaning Talbot has also escaped the void, or rather has been let out of the void.

Also I did notice that the addon actually just says "claimed" to have escaped the void, so I guess even that's unconfirmed.

  • Ptbs are 2-3 weeks. This one began a little sooner than expected so my guess is 3 weeks for this one.

I thought the Blight was also searching for Vigo as well?

And that Vigos escape from the Entity was unconfirmed?

The escape was unconfirmed until today. One of the Blight's addons is Vigo's Journal, and its description states that Vigo escaped.

  • Benedict was an investigator looking into missing persons cases who accidentally got pulled into the entity. He used to write a lot of the lore entries, they were canonically part of his journal, but he hasn't been used in a long time.

The Observer is from a magically enlightened world, and was part of an organization researching beings like the entity. He has a tool from his world that allows him to manipulate the entity and view the memories of others within it. He is still trapped within it, but has his own pocket that he controls which is the Archive.

Vigo is a mystery, but it's known that he learned to manipulate the entity, devised the original blight formula, and found a way to escape for good, possibly using the blight serum. It's also theorized that he created the hatch, and possibly the generators and gate. He has/had a tool similar to the Observer's, how he got it is unknown.

The Alchemist was pulled into the entity from an opium den, he found Vigo's old laboratory and notes and attempted to follow in his footsteps, experimenting on killers and survivors to perfect the formula. But he became addicted to the serum and surrendered to the entity. Now he has devolved into the Blight, and presumably he runs wild harvesting blight from survivors to feed his addiction.

  • There's a new killer every 3 months, and a mid-chapter patch in-between each of them, which often includes changes for older killers. Essentially there's major content changes every 6 weeks. That's the same release schedule they've had since clown, and it's been working fairly well so far. In that schedule these killers have received significant changes:

    • Trapper
    • Hag
    • Wraith
    • Freddy
    • Legion
    • Nurse
    • Doctor
    • Billy
    • Cannibal

Admittedly I think Trapper, Wraith, Freddy, and Legion could do with a second round of changes but they are all in better places than they were. Bhvr is clearly not having trouble giving changes to older characters. Bear in mind as well that they have different teams working on the new content vs the old content.
