I never had an issues with downloads like that.
Might be my internet since I have a stay at home state job so I'm required to have high speed internet
Speed is not the issue. Its the fact that PS5 and Ps4 are downloading the same update but one is 3 times the size as the other. Without a reason

Meanwhile the ps4 update is 4.8GB. What the heck are we getting extra?

I'm a very altruistic player, I love doing Altruistic plays (which is why Yun-Jin is currently the only survivor I don't own and don't plan to) so I'm hoping the next survivor also has a perk (or multiple) that could be used for altruism.
I don't know how unlikely it'd be, but I kind of want the next survivor to be a fire fighter who's perks revolve around getting others and themselves out of dire situations (like for example, a perk which allows them to carry a downed survivor both allowing the carried survivor to recover and get off, while slowing the rescuer slightly)
Don't care about killer, likely not gonna play them anyway. Only really play killers to learn how to survive better.
YunJin was a breath of fresh air. Perks that I can use that give me an advantage when my team mates are smooth brains. Fast Track and Smash Hit became fast faves.

The idea of a hidden killer works on other settings, but not on DbD. When taking the concept of a killer that is supposed to blend in with the society, the story normally happens to be on a regular place because then you will not be expecting when the threat appears, and when it appears, it should cause you paranoia since now you know that you can't trust everyone. DbD doesn't work like that. On this game, you spawn at a random and creepy location, which may be an abandoned hospital or a farm with a lot of dead animals. On this setting, you should instantly be able to identify who the killer is, as they should look too unfamiliar from the other survivors or straight up looking messed up in some way to give an instant sense of fear. Even the most human killers, like the Plague or The Pig have that element that instantly causes some distress on the player. On Pig's case, it is the rotting pig head and on Plague, it is the ancient looks and her disgusting skin. Trickster doesn't look so instantly threatening, neither he is in a setting that builds him up as a mastermind or something.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2343759#Comment_2343759
False. Trickster is not a regular person. Being a K-pop star makes him too distant from a regular person's reality, so he doesn't fit on the category of a "close friend" or "relative". Also, his behavior, his looks, his way of throwing knives and even his mori is too "exotic" to feel like someone who could be close to you. Unless, of course, you work with eccentric celebrities on a daily basis, which I doubt you do.
False. Eccentric personalities and celebs are just regular people at the end of the day.
Its you as an individual that distances yourself from them. Seeing them as something they are not.

Just because he takes the concept of a celebrity that kills people while hidden, doesn't mean that he can't be at least a little bit freaky or scary. He could be, for example, a star with its face botched by plastic surgery, something like Michael Jackson or someone similar.
Why does he have to be disfigured to be scary? Regular looking people are some of the scariest things out there.
Because you never see it coming. You're what? 40% likely to be murdered by a relative or close friend than a stranger? Regular Humans are truely the scariest things on the planet. Have you ever seen a Karen video? Traumatising.

Why do people like you show up when people complain about things they don't like? What is your business here? I do not wanna talk bad to you, i will keep my respect. So bye. Talk is over between you and me.
Because you are acting rediculous, and as you said it, complaining. As well as posting on a public forum. Do not come out here expecting everybody to have the same opinion as you all time. You cant create an echochamber.
So what if you dont spend money anymore? They already made their money from you and you cant get it back.
Personally I hope to see more Jeff and Quinten mains when the patch drops.

RE was likely the straw that broke the camel's back with optimization.
Can't fix it unless you address the underlying issue.

There is nothing more tied together in the known universe.
Nah, I think they can bring it back to what it was before the RE update without fully optimizing the game for last-gen console. 💁♂️
But we're at an impass so there's nothing more to be said from me.

No, it wasn't, but it was still pretty terrible.
Look on my thread for pre-RE patch footage, people were talking about this before RE. It just caught on because MORE people are having issues and because BHVR hasn't ever done anything about it, despite saying they would.
Okay, again, im not referring to console optimization.
Im referring to fixing the issues that were caused by the RE update. Console optimization is another discussion entirely.

They left it in it's pre-RE state for years.
They lied to our faces about optimization on several occasions.
Yeah, i was on ps4 for 2 years until I got my ps5, but thats not nearly as bad as whats going on now.
Stop twisting the situation 🙄
Edit: *in regards to console Pre-RR*
I also really never had issues with my PS4 aside from it trying to take flight when loading dbd. I never noticed what it was like until I upgraded. Suppose its like getting a PC from PS4

Well, you did say "when" it's working again, not "if".
Thats because its a definite statement. If you really think they will leave the game in the state it is for last gen, you're just being intellectually dishonest.
-
I dont think its fair to rule out last-gen consoles. A lot of people just cant get their hands on one at the moment. Just cutting them off is just so extreme, especially when you can barely get or afford one.

I've been playing alot of him lately, using the Soda Can and USB add-ons he becomes pretty OK when you start to learn to aim better with your machine-gun-hands. The USB will become basekit soon which is nice, and some of his add-ons are getting changes so we'll just have to see how he goes. Im thinking his Sonic Speed Shoes and PepsiMax addons will be pretty meta from there.
But god is he slow. If I switch to a different killer I can REALLY feel the difference.
Editer Notes: Just wanted to say, I went from rank 9 - rank 4 just playing as him. And I'm a terrible killer.

Because many people including myself have been playing ever since it came out on console 2017. I have nearly 4k hours and the optimziation wasn't bad before, but now that it is.
What option do I have? Either quit with all of those hours/memories/achievements going to waste or spend even more money on another platform just to reset all of my progress? It's not an easy choice for some of us.
If cross-progression was a thing for DBD, it could possibly alleviate some of our issues.
No one is saying quit. Just take a break and comeback later.

I feel like the way you said what you did was just worded poorly. And has just lit a fire on their butt. I get what you mean though.
If you feel the game is that bad why not just take a break and come back when its working again? Surely DBD is not the only game we all play

And I'm referring to the fact that killers can hit you through walls, from 15ft away, while swinging in the opposite direction. I'd be fine with the fact I was still in the window, or just starting to vault over a pallet but when I'm clear across the pallet, or 5ft or more out of a window and I still get hit it's a problem, and to this day it still hasn't been addressed. This game literally has the worst hit detection system I've ever seen. Imagine playing COD and shooting at someone 10ft away and to the right of them by 6ft feet but still getting a headshot on them... I don't think that would fly over well.
It has been addressed multiple times, it's called Latency.

So I've been wanting to play killer during the event. However I have only been able to play killer late at night due to more survivors being on then. However a friend suggested I turn off crossplay to see what happens. However when I go to turn it off, I cant. It says on and is grayed out. I dont know why this is a thing as I remember before the RE patch I could turn it on/off at will.
You can only change it from the main menu, not in lobbies, try it from there.

I'd say normally camping and tunneling is like, 98% of the game. It's 99% with the event. And I'm seeing moris more than ever too, which makes me laugh. Survivors all bring in cakes which are harder to find and killers bring in moris. It's just a big FU to survivors. I noticed this a while back during the Blood Hunt events and before the ebony mori fix. Killers would bring them in even more during those events. Meh. I'm not bringing in cakes anymore and I know a lot of other survivors are done with it as well.
I haven't seen a Mori since the great nerf everybody cried about.

Yeah, you're right, why in the hell do survivors need to escape but killers dont have to do anything?
Because playing survivor is not nearly as traumatic as playing killer.
-
Is it reeeeally a grind?
Literally you have to is grab it and escape as survivor. Then as killer you just grab it.

For this reason a boycott has started in which for 3 months people will not spend any money on this game.
At the end of the day it's the only game of BHVR, they tried to make another game and it completely failed, we decide if DBD continues or not. If we stopped paying them for 3 months, for 3 months they would lose their only way of earning income.
But didnt they all ready make thousands off of DLC and skins? What difference would 3 months really make? They already make heaps of sales. And the vocal community is a small fraction of the actual player base I think.
-
Arent the all the other maps just suspended on a floating island basically? Why does this make any difference, just because you can see it?

Trickster is so weird because I feel like its very player dependant on if you can hit knives. I love him, but i'm a terrible shot, so this faster decay is just going to be the death of me. Especially at tall and long loops where you rarely have an option to shoot.
-
Because killers make more points since its such a traumatic experience most games, there's also a bigger rate of cakes in the killer web. So everybody is playing killer.

What makes this game so special that it is entirely unique from every single game ever made before it that makes it so you can't balance around high level play?
Explain to me how you're going to compare DBD to fortnite. Just to push an agenda for high level skill balancing. We dont even have proper match making.

Sorry, im still waiting for you to give me a game like DBD.🙊

You need to remember that the vast majority of other asymmetrical games failed due to either money or legal reasons, or simply never was intended to be played at all.
F13 died due to legal reasons. Evolve died in part because of greed. Last Year committed suicide by being a Left 4 Dead clone. Hide or Die never knew what it wanted to be and went through massive change after massive change. Then you have the countless other games that never got a chance because they wasn't worth playing to start with.
The real reason though the vast majority of games fail is for 1 simple reasons. Either a publisher or investor thought they wasn't making enough money and killed the project, while also likely firing its dev teams to save even more cash. It is rarely about the community or balance.
I can for an almost certain fact say that DbD would have never survived this long if BHVR didn't buy the rights to DbD from its publisher back in 2018. Starbreeze would have killed the game off LONG ago and forced the devs onto other projects or out of a job.
That wasnt really my point, there just isnt another game like DBD that has high skill level balance, there's no point of reference. You shouldnt be comparing DBD balancing to LOL or Fortnite. I probably could have worded myself earlier before when referring to the genre, not the balancing and surviving.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2327825#Comment_2327825
So because it's a different genre we shouldn't balance around high level players?
Name one game that is taken seriously that is not balanced around high level players.
Please name another asymmetrical survivor game like DBD that has managed to balance around High-Skill cap and survived.

CS:GO balances around high level players
So does LoL
So does DotA
So does Rainbow 6
So does Fortnite
So does CoD.
None of those are in the same genre as DBD? So why are you bringing them up? More then half of those were shooters too. Unless we're making Machine-Gun Huntress a thing, I dont understand what the relevance here is.

Case by case. If I see a Claudette hiding in the locker the whole game, I have half a mind to try and open it while she's in there in front of the killer. But if it's just normal stuff like "Man, you let me get to 2nd hook because you left the gen too late!" that's just normal stuff, mostly unintentional, and shouldn't be punished.
Agreed, there are just some malicious/selfish survivors out there, it urks me that some people try to reap the reward by doing nothing at all for the team. If the sink is shipping I find better joy in making sure that Claudette goes down with me.

So what would you do then?
Not a clue, thats why I asked for your suggestions. The stamina bar is just overkill and not needed in this game otherwise you're just going to tip the scales too far. Too many killers would become too oppressive that way. I dont even really encounter W Gamers in my games.
But you also admitted you dont even really know what to do and just said to remake the entire game.😚

@Reinami said:

You obviously didn't read the rest of my post, those are all lazy "BHVR are terrible and take forever to do anything" ideas. Although i do think the stamina one is a decent idea. Can you explain why that would be bad? It literally ONLY counters the holding W meta, and encourages survivors to actually loop structures.
The stamina bar is the worst part of all those ideas. I agree, I have no problem with the totem stuff, but you're just overkilling it with the HW fear.
