I disagree, the best killers and streamers almost never tunnel and camp. They win with solid 10-12 hook games. If you can't catch someone 3 times they are probably better than you. There is nothing better than moonwalking backwards around a loop to cut someone off and completely outplaying them for an easy down. That is skill; camping is not. Sorry.
You disagree on which point? Here are my points, in a simple format:
- This is a PvP game
- Your opponent doesn't give a ######### if you think they're skilled or not
- The fact that you lose objectively proves you are worse at the game than they are
Which of the three points do you disagree with?

What if I try really hard BUT am so bad at the game that offer no challenge?
Am I still worthy?
That is what tryhard used to mean, but now it's just an insult to people who can play well.
-
Camping is fine. Killers are not your teammates, they're your opponents. You can complain about your opponents not making the game fun for you until you go blue in the face, but at the end of the day, your loss is their win. That's how PvP games work.
-
Because consoles have objectively worse hardware than PCs, so this was an easy way to improve performance.
-
You're not. Survivors who run into the corn are gone, as far as I'm concerned.

Killer body blocks one totem and takes the game hostage, gg.
Survivor does 3 totems trapping the rest of the team in the game forever, gg.
Good point, I'll think of something else.
-
Adrenaline:
- It no longer heals
- If you miss the window when it can be activated, it's not activated, period
NOED:
- Each individual survivor can only escape if they cleanse at least one totem, or if all totems have been cleansed
-
If you do it extensively, probably, yeah.
-
What's annoying to you is fun for someone else. If we were to remove things based on annoyance, we wouldn't have a game in the first place.
-
Break the totems.
-
- Remove the heal
- Make it so if you're not able to trigger it, then it doesn't trigger, period
Problem solved.

Hook camping may allow the other survivors more time to gen rush, but as the survivor being camped, I no longer care what the other survivors do. I'm now stuck with very few blood points, and the whole match is a waste of time for me. That's why people are upset by the tactic. Even if all 3 other survivors get away, that's great, but I'm still punished. As a killer main, when I want to spice things up as a survivor, I want to make sure that my time spent is worth it. When the killer is just standing there, waiting for someone to show up, he's not chasing anyone else. There should be a distraction blood point event for survivors that get camped. Campers are never going to stop, especially when they measure their victory based on whether or not ther get a kill. I don't care if I get sacrificed. Sometimes dying is just as fun as escaping. This really is the "It's not whether you win or lose" kind of situation, because neither truly exist in this game. Punishment is just negative reinforcement, which never gets through to anyone. You want survivors to stop complaining, enforce a positive method instead. A distraction event makes it so a camped survivor doesn't feel like they are wasting their time. Someone that thinks their time spent is worth it will keep coming back. It encourages new players and makes old ones happy without punishing anyone. The killer is only affected as much as they are now, which is practically not at all. In fact, granting blood points to camped survivors doesn't negatively affect anyone, nor does it affect killers at all.
Also, as you mentioned that it's a bad idea, there are perks that make it a great idea. I went up against a camper once. I was the only one sacrificed. All the other survivors won about 10k-12k blood points. The killer, because of perks, add-ons, and offerings, obtained over 40k. So, yeah, it can be worth it. Unless, of course, you don't care about blood points.
You failed at hiding and lost the chase. The killer won at finding you and subsequently won the chase. You do not deserve any reward whatsoever.

The lore never mentions if the Entity has a gender and it is highly unlikely that it can be compared to any living creatures that need males or females to create babys.
As we don't know for sure if the Entity has a gender I would say the only correct way to call it, is it.
Even if the acrticle in French is female that doesn't mean it is female
as example in German "the Entity" is translated into "der Entitus" and
"der" would be a male article.
Except the devs are Canadian and speak French, not German.

I heard from people who seriously got banned after a player said that a friend/dad or whatever is working at bhvr and they will make sure to sort them out of the game just because they were salty losing. They showed screenshots of them saying that which was really scary not gonna lie. And since ban appeals are doing ######### he was never unbanned and noone could provide him at least a reason.
So hopefully he has no direct contact to bhvr and you should be fine.
I'm betting there was more to those stories, like actual rule-breaking over a prolonged period of time, culminating in a well-deserved ban.

I feel like the policy is a tad aggressive. I mean, it's one thing if you're like "this player was exploiting!" because that needs to be investigated, and all anyone can do from a screenshot is take your word for it. I could post literally any screenshot of endgame chat and make a totally baseless claim like that about it.
It's another story if you go "wow, look at this toxic-ass dude calling people the N-word in chat," and the evidence literally is right there in the chat, in the screenshot. I have no sympathy for those people, and they deserve to be shamed and ostracized from whatever community they're participating in, because they hurt more than they help.
There's a reason we don't rely on mob mentality and mob "justice" any more.
-
I've no idea. If they just fixed this and made killers accelerate as quickly as survivors (proportionately to their max speed), it'd make looping less of an issue for the killers who're absolutely destroyed because of this quasi-exploit.

I am just proving that Omegablink is beyond OP and that it DEFINITELY needs a nerf.
Btw, just to clarify - the footage is from last season, where I played in ranks 1-2 mainly. I didn't even use Omegablink on my rank 16 to 1 run, because I thought it would be too easy. I wasn't able to record my run, because OBS randomly caused my PC to freeze for a few seconds, which would lag out all the survivors.
That's like proving that gravity makes objects fall downward. Everyone already knows that.

I'm not so sure, I'm simply getting killer's daily while usually they are quite balanced
Get a spreadsheet, record the data over a few hundred daily rituals.

Confirmation bias. You see more killer dailies because you complete all the survivor ones.

if 3 ppl suck, it doesnt mean the 4th, and probably best of them, must be punished.
Enjoy your free kills but dont try to call them legit or skilled.
They are not.
I'm a survivor main, and we're talking about balance issues, not people doing things they shouldn't like lagswitching or disconnecting.
Campers are easy to beat. Literally just hold M1. Problem solved. I don't have any problem with campers, even when I'm the one being camped.
If the 4th is so great and so much better than the killer, they should be able to outwit the killer.
It's a game mechanic, so the kills are legit. What you consider skill is irrelevant.
-
@OpenYoureyes said:
A survivor is always able to 1 vs 1 the killer all the time in this game: happens each time you escape a chase.
Difference is killer is faster and can kill, survivors are 4 and wider fov: that's the asymmetry.
1 vs 1 during EGC is just a no-escape situation (unless the killer sucks), where part of the balance is already gone (being alone surv with no distractions for the killer) AND devs added:
- closed hatch that triggers a timer
- end of timer kills the surv
- only 2 points of escape where surv can be
- 2 points of escape are not far enough
- slow to open gates that allow killer to easily recover the situation
This is not asymmetrical: this is free kill.
EGC is only triggered in a 1v1 scenario when the survivors have failed every single step of the way. Remind me again why it's unfair that they're adequately punished for it?
-
@OpenYoureyes said:
No. You confuse "asymmetrical" with "unbalanced".
Pretty common mistake around here..
And you confuse "asymmetrical" with "a survivor should be able to 1v1 the killer". Pretty common mistake the numbers role makes in every asymmetrical game ever.

Pay 3 get 4 is not how a game should work.
Have a pretty good chance at winning a 1v1 is exactly how an asymmetrical game should work.
-
@OpenYoureyes said:
tl;dr
1 vs 1 EGC is a free kill to killers masked as a "let's avoid game hostage" situation.
As usual good idea, fancy visual effects, bad implementation.
Yes, a free kill that only required the killer stomped the survivors. Truly, it's 100% free and required absolutely no effort on the killer's behalf.

@GrootDude said:
You can’t really blame swf for something matchmaking does. I’ve always thought it should match you with killers based on the highest ranked survivors rank.
Yeah, you can, in the same way you can blame exploiters for exploiting. If you know this is a thing, you know it's not supposed to happen (which everyone does), and preventing it is literally just having someone else "host" the SWF, you can definitely blame the SWF for purposefully abusing this.
-
90% of all skill checks succeed, at least according to the last statistic I saw (though it is fairly old, skill checks have not changed, so I see no reason why the success rate would have changed). This would just decrease cleansing time.

@OGlilSPOOK20 said:
Uhhh, to alot of this... No.
Noed isn't really a problem, but in my opinion I get a little tilted at killers that have one shot built-in that uses it.
Okay, so the whole survivors not healing themselves and doing gens fast because of adrenaline thing in my eyes is so stupid.
Like a year ago killers complained that Selfcare was bs and broken because a survivor can just heal themself, while others were working on gens. Devs heard them loud and clear and decided to nerf the perk and now here we are today with survivors not healing and using adrenaline. Killers now want that perk nerfed.
The point here is that killers are contradicting themselves. They wanted survivors to waste their teammates time to heal them. If Survivors aren't healing, then they should be easier to catch then right? I don't understand some killers that want adrenaline nerfed to begin with... It's a perk that doesn't activate until all gens are done. Meanwhile when a survivor complains about Noed they tell them to git gud or just break all the totems.
If killers want survivors to respect Noed, then killers should respect adrenaline. At the end of the day does having adrenaline really matter when you're running Noed anyway?
Billy isn't really as op as people make him out to be. Does he sometimes get bs chainsaws off..... Yes! But in my opinion that's not enough to remove his instadown. It's more about using the environment against Billy so he can't use his power and force him to M1 you. If they were to every nerf Billy one day, it will most likely be his base movement speed. They'll have to turn him from a 115% movement speed killer to 110% because of his mobility. (Which makes sense, because Nurse has high mobility but a low movement speed.)
Legion's fatigue change is fine and the the speed of Frenzy is kind of balanced. But I think a lot of people missed the point of why they made Legion's vault slower. It was because Legion would vault the window fast and survivors would pull a U-turn and vault back over the pallets or windows. So they did that so Legion would stop that. A good build for Legion would be Thanathpobia, Ruin, STBFL & Bbq or Sloppy.
Prayer beads should just be an Ultra Rare add-on that should be harder to find on the bloodweb.
Bamboozle... No, it's fine.
Self-Care wasn't nerfed in a way that dealt with the real issue. Like so many other things, it was a band-aid that didn't address the problem.
-
If you're playing solo, yes. Despite what people may say, it's still a perk that allows for infinite, self-sustaining heals.
-

5 gens done and waiting 30 min. before going to open a door could be a strategy too, and now you have EGC. Strategies can be unfair

BBQ is common enough to draw conclusions how a built-in mechanic would affect the game, which is to say, not a lot in regards to camping
It really isn't, no. First of all, BBQ has too many counters, so people end up just using it for the bonus BP, since the main advantage (aura reading) is effectively non-existent. Second of all, because survivors still reward camping three years in, it remains a viable strategy.
-
@Madjura said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/604755#Comment_604755
Rewards for leaving exist, higher chance for pips but rank is worthless (technically less than worthless because ranking up is bad) and BBQ, which survivors commonly cry about
The rank system needs to stop being garbage, that would solve a lot of issues at once
I knew someone would bring up BBQ, but I expected it'd be at least an hour.
BBQ is not a built-in reward like the built-in punishments (well, punishment, really, there's a single one that keeps coming back despite being an abject failure) that keep being suggested, so it's not comparable. If survivors want built-in mechanics to punish killers for camping, then they can sure as hell come up with built-in mechanics to reward killers for not camping, since those might actually work.
-
@DWolfAlpha said:
How bout this then. Instead, make it so that a survivor's timer isn't accelerated by attempting to escape the hook while being face camped. The timer still progresses normally, but you have a better chance of just escaping. Sure, the killer can just down you, but it gives a slight chance to someone that has no chance.
Also already tried.
Think of rewards for the killer to leave instead of punishments for the killer staying. Those are the ideas that haven't been tried yet, because the human default for someone not doing what you want seems to be to hit them until they do, even though all research shows that doesn't actually work.
-
I wouldn't.

Not sure on the distance part. When a friend in Canada is matched as killer I've had zero issues and he shows a ping around 70 for me to him at 50mbps. Another friend one state south lands killer on 20mbps and ping is 250. Distance isn't seeming to be a factor there.
I'm sure about the distance part because I actually studied this.

I mean, only if that also stops all killer mobility, attacks, interactions, and abilities.
And the hook timer only stops if the survivors can't unhook, thus bringing the game to a standstill. Problem solved: nobody plays the game.
-
@Zixology said:
Literally just stop hook-death progression while the killer is in X-meters of the hooked person.
HOWEVER! They should also make it so that if the killer is in a chase, then the hook-death progresses as normal.
Stop generator progression while there's a hooked survivor.
-
Ping arises primarily due to the physical distance the information has to travel. You can upload however much information you want per second, but the speed at which the information travels will still be equal to or less than the speed of light. This is physics.

Yea, totally doesn't work at all, it's only tracking 49,000 DBD players.
I barely meet anyone with a private profile on dbd lmao.
It can't track people with private profiles or friends-only profiles, nor people who've enabled certain privacy settings. So sure, it claims to be tracking 49k DbD players, but in reality it's only tracking a small fraction of those.
Either that, or you genuinely believe that there's only about a thousand players in the entire USA during the peaks.
