Because you keep perpetuating that
"The cream of the crop survives over 60% of the time and no more than 80% of the time."
despite being told that
"the weakest killer on the worst map at rank 1 is only 54.90% (45.1% escape rate). That kill rate only goes up from there for stronger killers and more killer favored maps"
because you keep using the excuse that
"The devs explicitly made it easier for survivors to pip and flooded the high ranks with worse survivors, which artificially brought down the survival rate"
It's almost like anything they give us you'll some how find a way to skew results, like how you keep saying that 80% number despite being told multiple times it's nowhere near that high.
If you passed me a jar of beads and asked me how many beads I thought were in that jar and I said to you that I think there is 80 beads in a jar, and you kept telling me that there is "nowhere near 80 beads in that jar", I wouldn't continue to say there are 80 beads in a jar.
I was referring to the older statistic, which did indeed show that the best survivors (ranks 1 and 2) were surviving between 60% and 80% of the time. It's math.
Look up weighted average. I'd need a population count to be able to give an exact number. The only thing I can say for certain is that the average survival rate at ranks 1 and 2 before the devs relaxed the pipping requirement was between 60% and 80%.
If you don't think making it easier for players to pip means bad players will flood higher ranks, I don't know what to tell you.

I did. How does that contradict what I said? The devs explicitly made it easier for survivors to pip and flooded the high ranks with worse survivors, which artificially brought down the survival rate.

With this said /\ the cream of the crop survives 81% of the time....... man the game gets easy AF
That's not right. The cream of the crop survives over 60% of the time and no more than 80% of the time. It was only after they flooded high ranks with bad survivors by making it easier to pip that the average survival rate dropped (for obvious reasons).

This is not related to the post so I'd ask you to take this talk elsewhere , but at least it's a semi fair idea..not entirely but semi
Sorry, I confused it for another thread that's about reworking (i.e.: nerfing) the actual offerings.

Just so that everyone is clear on what thanataphobia does:
To put that into numbers, a generator would take a maximum of 95 seconds (instead of 80 seconds) if all survivors were under the effects of Thanatophobia.

A mod confirmed in another thread that, indeed, it's not an exploit. Someone even said you should just vault back when you see the killer doing that.

What do you mean by "broken"?

@Raptorrotas said:
Not that i'd like flashlights buffed in any way.
But what if flashlights interrupted the pickup animation the moment the killer is blinded.
Survivors then couldn't use the "remaining" animation to gain a headstart.
Unless I'm missing something, that's exactly what the OP suggested.

See what you did? You made SenzuDuck and I agree. Are you happy now?

Sorry for you, playing this game from 2016 and 2600 hours.
As Akuma specified, this mechanic was fine in those years but not now. Yes, we know about the experiment in 2017 when devs tried to eliminate timing in flashlights and results in chaos.
But now we're in 2019, and this is not anymore the case. Not only killers have now so much perks and items to know where survivors are, but even in the basekit, the pickup animation, the cooldown of swings, ecc... it's all different.
I'm a veteran of this game and i know what i'm saying, the timing of the flashlight needs to be removed. Don't worry, you can always tricks or look up to avoid the flashlight beam's, it's not that difficult.
Yes, you can always look up while you're locked in an animation.
Oh, wait, you can't, that's literally what "locked in an animation" means.
I trust empirical evidence over your gut feeling. Sorry.

@Seanzu said:
Anywhere between 49% and 74% is pretty much fine for survival rate.
1 Kill = 0 - 24%
2 Kills = 25 - 49%
3 Kills = 50 - 75%
4 Kills = 75 - 100%
Obviously we'd want it more inbetween 49 & 74 because it indicates that 3 kills is the norm.
Dude, other way around.

Wasnt this wrong because they made a mistake of calculating rank 1 survival?
The 80% survival rate at rank 1 is due to it being almost impossible to stay rank 1 and die. Since the stats were taken at the end of trials, this naturally inflated the survival rate at rank 1 and deflated the survival rate at rank 2.
However, if you take rank 2's survival rate into account, this is what the truly best of the best survivors can do - survive a lot more often than not. The average survival rate was only lowered because they purposefully relaxed the pipping requirements and flooded high ranks with the bad survivors from the lower ranks.

Make Cypress like an Ivory that can only be used once the gates are powered. Allow killers to kill the last remaining survivor without an offering. Leave the rest as they are.

Bad people making bad decisions. I hope they will not cause the fall of Dead by Daylight, since most of the Steam reviews I have seen are angered by the toxicity in the game.
If the devs wanted to fix it, they'd institute a zero tolerance policy for toxic behavior (and no, tunneling/camping/insta-heals/whatever aren't toxic; they're part of the game) and ban them. Even if they were just temporary bans, they'd soon get the message and either leave the game (if they were just playing to be #########) or stop being #########. It's the only way those people will learn.

Again, a normal trial is one thing. That is bit what this is about. As the title says, I'm referring to try-hard, sweaty play in a 2v1. It's a casual party game, not an league game with real rank implications. If you can8take the foot off the petal a bit and relax, you have issues. Most of the time, I'm on the killer side of things. If I see a player run up and just want to die, sure, I'll oblige and let them move on, but I'm not getting all sweaty and pushing to make sure I get that 2k in a 2v1. No need to because I'm not a jerk.
"I'm not a jerk"
"I do things to make other people as miserable as possible to the point that they give up"
Pick one.
-
@Warlock_2020 said:

Haha. Yeah, if your being a jerk, so will I. I'm going to make it last as long as I can. I hit 5 totems, 3 chests, and get lots of boldness bp while in your TR. I also hit some gens here and there. I get to achieve my goal while also annoying the jerk who was try-Harding in a 2v1.
Keep in mind, I'm talking try hard behavior, not basic gameplay. If it's 2v1 in the beginning and you are slugging, tunneling or camping then that is excessive try hard activity. That is when I enter jerk mode. So don't go all self-righteous on me Orion. I've seen your posts over time and you are nobody to be passing judgment.
Wanting to play a normal trial isn't being a jerk. That's literally what the vast majority of people bought this game for. Killers are players too, and they just want to move on ASAP. As a survivor main, I do too.

Malice? I'm afraid you have a misconstrued sense of the word here. I'm going into the game to get bp and have fun. If there are DCs right off the bat, fun is out, so bp is all that's left. If you want to be sweaty and try to slug or camp/tunnel in a 2v1, I'm going to do all I can to survive and earn BP. No malice needed.
I really don't. You said you were doing it, quote, "just to annoy the jerk". You also said - as if you were proud of this fact - that, quote, "I've forced many killers to concede those matches with either a DC or opening the gates".
You do what you do out of malice, according to your own words. Don't try to back out now.

Re-read what I said. I said killers are usually only toxic towards TOXIC survivors, meaning if survivors aren’t being toxic, the killer won’t be either. Usually anyways.
That was a major reading error. Thanks for the correction.

You said killers are usually only toxic toward survivors. I asked who else would they be toxic toward if not survivors. There's literally nobody else playing the game.

Well, it's wrong. And if they are serious about the year 4 being all about the game's health. That needs to change.
Well, dedicated servers are coming this summer with better DC penalties, and they've talked about a feature that will leave behind a survivor husk when they DC. Is that good enough?
-
@北欧人 said:

They are taking a competitive advantage from it. It's more than just a random DC. It's an exploit. It's an exploit enabled by DCing.
Literally their definition of exploiting:
"Exploit bugs, errors in design, or undocumented features to gain access to what otherwise would not be available or to obtain a competitive advantage"
How would the last guy get the hatch if not for his pal DC? How is not abusing a design flaw? tell me.
The devs treat all DCs the same way. If you didn't know that before, which I highly doubt, you do now.
-
Yell what?
-
All DCs are logged and bans are handed out automatically. Why'd you expect something different? This is like sending a letter to your government's finance department every single time you purchase something, even though they have all that information already.

I'm not going to go though a bunch of whiny topics about killers or survivors and find specific ones for you. If you haven't seen any then you're not looking or you filter them out though your own bias.
The only thing I've seen is people who expect me to talk about survivors and killers simultaneously, regardless of the subject. Those people then accuse me of being biased for not doing so. It's always us vs. them for those people, which they project onto me.
I shared my experience as a survivor main for why I believe survivors are more toxic than killers. Nothing more, nothing less. You're the one making a bigger deal out of it than it actually is.

The other person I replied to in my original comment said "killers being 'toxic' is killing survivors," the implication being they are not toxic because obviously completing their only objective cannot be toxic. And then he went on to list the many ways survivors can be toxic.
As for your comments? No thanks. They're out there for all to see.
So you have your interpretation of a single comment as an example of "plenty of people", and refuse to link to my supposedly divisive comments. I think I can extrapolate from that.

Yeah, I know what they are and agree that they play a part. But if that's your explanation then you're blaming the psychology of being in a group. You don't explain that nuance when you say things like "Only survivors." So a legitimate point about the power of groupthink is lost and all people on the forums see is a divisive comment.
I'll tell you what I think. I think that a lot of people are angry. They are fighting with their significant other, their parents either don't care about them or they're overbearing, they are bullied in school, their kids don't listen to a word they say, their boss or co-workers are incompetent, etc. Whatever reason for any particular person, sometimes a lot of them. There's a lot of reasons to be angry in life, unfortunately. So video games are used as an escape. All that anger and resentment in their life that they can't unleash on their boss or coworkers, their parents or kids, their teachers or peers.. they redirect towards the devs, survivors or killers. If they can control one damn thing in life it should be their experience in a video game! So they play DBD and something triggers them. A bug, lag, a hit that absolutely should/shouldn't have connected but didn't/did, a survivor they just can't catch or a killer they just can't escape. Whatever. And all that anger and resentment from their lives comes out. In a group, it's much easier and safer. And there are statistically more survivors. But survivors can't hit back, they can't kill a killer. So even though they have the safety of a group, the killer has the ability to attack and kill, while knowing that survivors can't do the same. I think there are psychological things going on for both roles that allow them to release their anger. Survivors can't attack, so they use words more often. Killers don't have a group, so they target a single survivor and torture them on the hook or on the ground. No need to threaten somebody's life when you get to actually kill a digital representation of them in a video game.
We're all just people.
I said "only survivors have threatened my family and children" because it is an objective fact. It's my experience, there's nothing more to say. I didn't say only survivors were toxic. In fact, nobody has ever said that.
-
@brokedownpalace said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/619353#Comment_619353
"A killer being 'toxic' is killing the survivors."
Lol no. Toxic killers repeatedly hit you on the hook, Mori spam you, slug you and stare at you until you bleed out or the Entity takes you in EGC, tbag as Pig or Ghost Face, ring bell in front of hook as Wraith, chainsaw you over and over again on hook as Leatherface, throw hatchets at you on hook as Huntress, etc.
Survivors can be awful, but they are not fundamentally different people than killers. Look past your own bias.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/619639#Comment_619639
Never in my video game playing experience has anyone threatened me or my family. A few told me to commit suicide but that's just an edgy thing for some kids to say. Sorry you ran into some #########, but they're part of life. What do you think is different about survivors at a fundamental level where they are the type to make threats, and not killers? And what about people who play both? Did you make sure that the ones who threatened you can be officially qualified as "survivor mains?" And by whose standard?
It's like getting mugged by a couple of people of a certain ethnicity and proclaiming that "Only those people mug me! Nobody else!"
It's psychological. Look up groupthink, tribalism, and other phenomena associated with being part of a group. That's what differentiates survivors from killers.
-
@Scal3r said:

Personally, I farm or at least hang back for a couple gens so the remaining 2 get BP. As survivor, if I get 2 DCs right off the bat and a try hard killer, I try to work with the other survivor to stealth the crap out of that game just to annoy the jerk.
I mostly play killer and know what it is like, so I know how stupid easy and unrewarding that type of match is. I play survivor on the rare occasion where my wife wants to play, so I'm usually with her if this type of thing happens. So if the killer wants to be a jerk, so can we. I've forced many killers to concede those matches with either a DC or opening the gates.
As a survivor main, I'd rather just get the trial over with. It was ruined by the DCer. The killer is not a jerk for wanting the same thing. They're not doing it out of malice, unlike you.
-
Yes, just turn Coldwind Farm into a giant popcorn field. ######### the corn.
-
OP, here's the problem with your little theory: there are practically no trials any more where survivors don't disconnect.
Killers are players as well and just want to play the ######### game they paid for. If you want to complain about anyone, complain about the survivors who disconnect.

Or in other words, if there were a secondary objective, killers would stop tunneling and camping because they'd feel the game was more "fair" for them.
Stop altogether? No. Such a thing is not possible, so if you're hoping for that, you're gonna be disappointed. However, I can guarantee they'd start trying out more so-called "meme builds" and mess around with survivors more often as the game became less frustrating for them. Y'know, like how it used to be back when the game was first released.
-
Survivors reward camping and are the reason it's as big of a problem as it is right now, but gen rush is a different issue altogether that stems from an imbalance in the time it takes for both sides to accomplish their objectives.
-
Killers are complaining that SWF break the game because they ignore several game mechanics, such as stealth killers and not having 4 people essentially share their vision with each other.
Killers are complaining that SWF, when played to the full extent of their capabilities, render any and all killers completely worthless garbage, which makes their skill irrelevant in determining the outcome of that trial.
-

That's what I basically suggested. Except it works for both hooks in case of tunneling.
It's not tunneling to chase the same survivor twice and you know it. What if it's the only visible survivor? What if it's the end game? What if the killer was unable to hook anyone, but still chased other survivors?
DS works for its intended purpose, for the most part. The only thing that needs to change is the fact that it remains active even if the killer has hooked someone else.
-
Because for some people, it's easier to take a loss if they tell themselves it's not their fault ("The Nurse is broken and you can't do anything against her!") or if they pretend it was their decision all along ("You didn't kill me, I quit!").
