Honestly, I think the change is too much. Ultra rares are ultra rare for a reason. Now instaheals can join BNPs in the club of "survivor addons that are kinda good but definitely not worth 7k".
But that's some fast internet you've got there!
Bnp, or i would say "Old new part" is not even good. It's trash,useless and forgattable.

1) It's free cosmetics.
It costs $10 and approximately (21,500 player level "Devotion"xp) 13.5 hours of matches to complete the pass as of the PTB numbers available. This is assuming the numbers aren't tweaked to increase or decrease the grind.
2) You earn your money back
No, you have a chance to earn more Auric cells. The money you spent is lost. You can only earn the cells if you complete the pass up to that tier. If you're short, your only option is to purchase tiers for 100 cells each or purchase more cells outright.
3) It doesn't affect gameplay
By design it does. A player without charms or skins will see players with charms and be psychologically driven to purchase the pass to earn the charms themselves. This is the same principle as public loot boxes in other games.
4) Don't want it? Don't buy it.
This is where psychological manipulation comes in and how this system is designed to take advantage of people susceptible to this kind of manipulation. I won't get into such an in-depth topic here, but there have been a few studies in the past few years about the longterm effects of this kind of manipulation. You can also research the "Fear of Missing Out" since it works the same way.
5) BHVR needs the $
Last I checked, their annual revenue is estimated at over $35 million. This is encompassing all their projects and not just DbD. The DLC and cosmetics store have done well enough for the game to reach its current point. The game still has frustrating core mechanics issues that are ignored, but I don't think it's a lack of capital that's preventing the fixes needed.
6) The battlepass rewards aren't guaranteed.
You purchase the pass for the chance to grind for the cosmetics you might want. If you don't grind enough you don't get the cosmetic. The store offers cosmetics for a price and it's guaranteed albeit more expensive. If something comes up and someone can't grind enough then they lose their money and the chance to gain the cosmetic they were chasing. Not to mention losing the auric cell reward leaving them to spend another $10 for the next pass.
7) It keeps the game alive
Wouldn't core balance fixes, overhauls of outdated systems and characters leading to fun and exciting gameplay for both sides keep the game alive too? EDIT: Madjura "If the only way to keep the game is alive by adding menial, paid grind to the game then the game isn't alive, it's just a grind simulator at that point."
Agree on everything! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Good luck with that. We're tolding them for about 3 years...

This perk is really good imo, don’t know why everyone hates this perk. Being able to do a gen and get healed at the same time is really great imo.
(Also surprised that I haven’t seen a four man camaderie swf)
Because it's OBJECTIVELY a bad perk. You were lucky to active, but not only is a difficult and situational (remember that situational perks are always bad and weak) only to activate, the reward is only a heal in time.
Seriously bring self-care if you want some heal, or Aftercare so your teammates can heal you faster which is much better.

Even if it's only 2 or 3 permenantly, if they're a in one corner, its impossible to carry a survivor to a new hook. Permenant sabotage would give people literal safe spaces.
Yes, but not impossible. You are scared for the fact of safe spaces but it's just the doc build to patrol and camp the last 3 gen. The killer can avoid this, because remember the game always advice you about sabotaging, and block survivors before they created the safe places.
So no, the solution is perma-hooks. Trust me, just try it and you will see sabotage bring joy for everyone, no more ultra gen rushing, second objective and more tactic games.
-
I said over and over and over again.
To bring back the forgotten sabotage it's not complicated, just make sabotage destroy PERMANTELY a limit number of hooks (2 or 3, this needs to be balanced after some tweaks, because you need consider 4 survivors, sabotage and toolboxes).
DONE, you bring back sabotage and make it like the old days.

Bond is always better. It helps with being efficient. Basically, they can stop bringing Aura Read Perks, because Bond will always be better. Except they release something like Bond but with bigger Range.
They already did it with Aftercare which is exactly the most powerful aura reading for survivors to seek others teammates.

Funny of you to assume the team that does work on the game is the same team that makes cosmetics.
Unfortunately the team that works on skins are around 20 people, meanwhile the team that works on the game are around 7 or 6 people..... which is pretty sad.

Honestly keys are one of the worst balanced things in DBD.
I'm playing in red ranks. Playing Trapper. Killed two people while three gens popped. Pretty good game so far from my side. Two people hatch escape. Key found in a chest. Entity displeased.
Yes they're broken but you even spare and didn't lose. The match with 2 people escaping with a key it's even so rare that you don't need to worry about that and as i said, there are much more broken thing than keys at the moment.

If you think that is overpowered then you should see the rest of the game...

Reducing hook spawns still isn't gonna be that useful for sabotaging since it takes a long time to wiggle so the killer can still go from one hook to another. Also, hook locations are based on rng because you'll get some maps where all the hooks are right next to each other and others where the hooks are far apart. Hooks spawning far apart from each other is a bit similar to what you've suggested and it still doesn't do much.
Exactly, you coordinate with your team to alteast do only some hooks in an area so you have, let's say safe area. It's much more reliable then increase the hook's regeneration ,otherwise if you increased the time to be much longer, could be nice.
The point is, sabouteur was for sure OP because it could remove all hooks from the map, apart the basement. Thanks to the majestic ideas from the devs, the nerf was so big that killed saboteur to the ground.
SO, for a come-back of this forgotten mechanic OR we should sabotage for ever only a number of hooks OR the hook's regeneration should be increased MUCH longer.
-
@Derp said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/659408#Comment_659408
Reducing hook spawns can be a problem since there's the offering that increases the hooks distance from each other which can also stack. It'll also mean more survivors will bodyblock since it'll be a lot easier to wiggle off. I can see this being abused by swf on voice chat, telling each other to bodyblock for the save. I'm gonna have to say a no on this one.
If it's for the offering then we need to rework them and we're done.
The problem with saboteur is the hook's regeneration, because you waste all the time to do nothing. So the real answer to all of this is sabotage only some hooks permanently and as you said rework the offering.
-
Jeez guys it's not that difficult.
To buff saboteur and toolbox sabotage, just make a limit number of hooks, be sabotage FOREVER, because the regeneration thing is a total mess and doesn't make sense (yes, i know why it was introduced at that time, i was there) and done! You have a come-back of a forgotten mechanic being useful and not extremely overpowered in survivor hands.

Since you can get blinded from the sides unless you press your Killer model up to a wall, your pre-pick-up tricks are good for nothing.
Do you really think people didn't try that stuff during 1.9.2? If it worked, we would probably have retained that garbage stun mechanic.
I repeat, as i said you are talking about 1.9.2
Did you know how long ago was? We are in 3.1.2. It's much different than long ago and killers have so much items and choices right now to surpass the flashlight beam's easily. Don't you see how survivors use right now flashlight? Only on pallets. Trying to save someone it's merely impossible and a waste of time.
-
@Raptorrotas said:
Not that i'd like flashlights buffed in any way.
But what if flashlights interrupted the pickup animation the moment the killer is blinded.
Survivors then couldn't use the "remaining" animation to gain a headstart.
It's not what are we talking?

@DocOctober said:

How about you stop making stuff up? Your "counter-play" does not work in an animation lock. That's empirically proven and really should be the end of this discussion.
There is an exit open , right there for people that don't want talk with others but only screams.

Orion and I are actual veterans of this game, and thus I have serious doubts about your veteran status claim if you're quite apparently completely oblivious to what "animation lock" means in the context of those catastrophic stuns in 1.9.2.
You actually do not have the slightest idea of what you're talking about. There is no tricking or avoiding a flashlight blind in an animation lock. Period.
You don't need to have the doubt, and veteran or not, who is talking about trick or avoid flashlight during the pickup animation? I was talking about tricks and avoid before the pickup and i'm sure,if you a veteran, that you experienced these thinghs.
-
@Seanzu said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/621299#Comment_621299
Tricking wouldn't work lmao, the animation takes so long, the only reason baiting works now is because survivors have to time the flash perfectly, if they knew they had the entire animation to blind you they wouldn't come out until you started the animation.
You CANNOT MOVE YOUR HEAD WHILE PICKING UP YOU CANT LOOK AWAY
I don't know what game are you playing, but the pickup animation is so much short right now that you have all the time to tricks and turn around. Yes,you can't turn you head while your picking up but you are not consider even the situations. Even if survivors don't have timing to blind someone, you need time to blind. You didn't consider this, don't you?
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/621289#Comment_621289
Yes, you can always look up while you're locked in an animation.
Oh, wait, you can't, that's literally what "locked in an animation" means.
I trust empirical evidence over your gut feeling. Sorry.
You can discuss an argument without being a jerk, you know?
As i said, it's not that difficult to avoid a flashlight, if you saying it's not possible ot you don't play killers or you still not have much experience in the game. You can look other directions to avoid the flashlight beam's or tricks players to thinking that you pick up the downed survivor. Stop exaggerating.
-
Flip flop it's even too weak to pay a character. We told you "be careful for what you wish and pay attention to all situations."
Everyone was screaming for a nerf, but never came with a proper solution (atleast the majority). So they came with the "protection hits", some people argue that wasn't the right choice for how protection hits are trash, but they didn't listen.
RIP ASH

Not exaggerating, it's a fact. Maybe you're too new to remember it, but I'm not.
Sorry for you, playing this game from 2016 and 2600 hours.
As Akuma specified, this mechanic was fine in those years but not now. Yes, we know about the experiment in 2017 when devs tried to eliminate timing in flashlights and results in chaos.
But now we're in 2019, and this is not anymore the case. Not only killers have now so much perks and items to know where survivors are, but even in the basekit, the pickup animation, the cooldown of swings, ecc... it's all different.
I'm a veteran of this game and i know what i'm saying, the timing of the flashlight needs to be removed. Don't worry, you can always tricks or look up to avoid the flashlight beam's, it's not that difficult.
-
I agree with you Akuma 👍️

Am the I only one keep running into Bamboozle Ruin Billys with insta saw or Multi / Omegablink Nurses with Ruin and NoED?
In reality, all the players. Right now since, we can say, Legion patch or before circa, rank 1 means rank 15. There are less and less good players anymore and more casual and stupid players running these ranks. It's incredible how i still can play this game from 2016, even tho i quitted it so many times. I can understand why many strong players quitted, maybe for the game becoming more and more bad and broken, maybe for the stupid devs who are running this game or maybe for toxicity. There so many reasons why gods and godess killers and survivors quitted the game.

@Milordo the survivors objective is to escape. In order to escape they have to repair gens. Survivors get really annoyed when the killer uses NOED. I think it´s fair to assume, that repairing is not their objective, but escaping.
BBQ rewards killers for leaving the hook to go for a different survivor.
As i already said, what could possibly go wrong if survivors get stacks for gen rushing?
Not like gens getting completed in 3-4 Minutes would be an issue...
It's not fair to assume that repair is not their objective. See you already said that survivors needs to repair gens in order to escape. SO REPAIRING Gens is their objective! Oh you think survivors must do an """immersive""" gameplay standing in the corner of the map?
I don't think so. Not only NOED is an unbalanced perk meanwhile gen rushing is a mechanic of the game. You can't compare those together, it doesn't make sense. Like comparing pizza with numbers.
It's much better if WGLF encourage survivors do to their objective instead of trying farm your teammates like potatoes.
-
@Tsulan said:

How the hell did Wake Up affect hitboxes? And how the hell does anything in this game affect your wifi?
Wake up has a bug in the latest patch. He gave you 15% speed in everything, even vaulting. So you could vault slighlty faster and avoid all sort of bad hitboxes or wifi hit from killers.
-
@Volfawott said:
Well sure you can if you are only using wake up for vaulting and not touching gens or healing
The free 15% to generators was broken and very abusable honestly it feels like you didn't really read the post.
You're comparing something that would give a clear unfair advantage to something that was a minor benefit.
Keep in mind you got a token of the downing your obsession hitting your obsession without downing them would still take away a token. Essentially you would lose to tokens but gain one back.
I red the post. I was saying the same thing about PWYF. They could remove everything of 15% speed on gens,healing,totems,ecc..... but that 15% vault was amazing. I could totally see when the killer hit me FOR REAL in the window. It's incredible how the game fix the problem itself.
-
Honestly the perk in itself is very subpar and the bug that it had was actually a pretty decent quality of life for it didn't make it overpowered.
I can say the same thing about Wake up. With Wake up no more hit wifi or bad hitboxes, it was paradise.

Killers either need mobility or map wide gen pressure to survive at purple and red ranks. Otherwise they get genrushed into oblivion.
Ruin is a (necessary) band-aid for 80-85% of the Killers in this game who don't have any of those. If they lose Ruin, they might as well DC.
Billy has immense speed and instadowns, you can't beat him without a vault or window.
Nurse, while not possessing as much mobility as Billy, can end loops extremely quickly. And she can still move much quicker than other Killers. Plus she can teleport up and down entire floors.
Spirit has mobility and insane mindgame potential, which is what makes her top tier.
Every other Killer is very dependent on Ruin, add-ons or perks. Pig has SOME gen pressure with her RBTs but still not enough mobility.
The devs just don't know how to balance new killers, plain and simple. It's why the original killers are still the best in the game. With the exception of Spirit, the ONE time they did something right.
Spirit is an original killer :/

@poopman said:
I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but I think this is not the fault of the player but the incompetence of the developers.
'Hostage taking the game' is a ridiculous phrase made up to excuse the mistakes the developers have made in designing their game. The core design of this game is so flawed, that we have to blame the players for playing the game a specific way.
Remember back in the days when people exploited things like this and the developers would quickly fix it? Ah those were the days.
Nowadays we are stuck with devs who want to put all the blame on the players. It's just easier than actually fixing your game, isn't it?
May I remind you that this is the same game which released with INFINITE loops, so the Killer was LITERALLY unable to EVER catch up with you? Technically these people should have been banned too, right?
The core design of this game is so inherently flawed, it actually surprises me that it managed to be such a success.
I believe the effects of the flawed design are going to become more and more obvious until the developers can't ignore them anymore. The mistakes they have done in the past should be dealt with NOW, not be swept under the rug until the game finally breaks under the heavy weight.
Stop this trend of banning players for simply playing the game a specific way and start fixing this stuff, if you don't want it in your game. Please.
Not to mention, can we remember the """"exploit"""" of 2 killers in public match? I laugh everytime at this because for developers, it was intentional, meanwhile it's not. It's a bug, that could be replicate by players, but can happen by random events (yes it's still on in this patch , they never fixed it but atleast it's fun as hell).
