I’ve heard that the spirit is getting nerfed? Can anyone fill me on what they’re changing? Also is there any other significant changes that will be happening? Killer and survivor wise.

MASSIVE changes, Spirit is getting some pretty noticeable nerfs, several perks are getting buffs that make them MUCH better.
Babysitter is actually looking a bit good ngl. Imagine it at endgame saves with BT. That's a guaranteed escape, no waiting out BT anymore. lmao
This is easily some of the best patch notes we've had in a long time ngl.
This is only part 1 btw. The rest is on Monday.

Evil Dead is currently coming up, which might be able to replace Friday the 13th and compete with DBD.
It's such a shame too, Friday the 13th continued to keep a playerbase for years on PS4. If the legal issues hadn't come up, DBD might have fierce competition by now.

I think it's hilarious people will call this guy high tier. There's only 1 thing that really matters in DBD, and that's getting fast downs. Everything else is secondary. You need to find people and down them immediately, and this guy sucks at it. What's better, gaining ~10 seconds through passive slowdown and needing 60+ seconds to down someone; or just downing someone in 10 seconds? I wonder......
Something you're forgetting: The chains force slowdown if the Survivors ignore the box, and a Survivor typically has to be taking care of the box in some way so their team can reliably do gens.
I would say that, while a Survivor can hold the box, they get punished for doing so. Chain Hunt WILL reveal them if they try to hide, the chains will fly at them and reveal where they're hiding, and chai hunt will ALSO slow the Survivor down for injures and downs. A Survivor who holds the box mid-chase runs the risk of being in a constant disadvantage. Even if they dodge the chain hunt, a simple perfectly placed, random chain can be enough to force the Survivor into getting hit.

I'm taking a break after being forced to buy a new router because people can't handle losing.
If you're saying you got your IP revealed, they can only track as far as like... state or city, if you're in America iirc. It's not actually that threatening, they'll literally never be able to track you down.
-
I agree completely.
In fact, I think you heard this from me? I say this because I've seen people like Tru3 play trickster, and they seem absolutely unhindered. Anyone who practices Trickster a bit and gets used to the recoil can control it VERY easily to keep it in a certain location, making the recoil completely redudant.
Meanwhile, console players, who can't deal with forced recoil like PC players and already struggle with ranged Killers, get hurt by this the most.
TBH, keep the Main Event buffs and add-on changes, but revert or lessen a few of the major buffs that make Trickster too much like the others and remove recoil.
-
TBH, it's too weak, speed boost is honestly not amazing and being the obsession makes it worthless.
Add a new mechanic to pick a random Survivor if you're the obsession and share auras with them. I'd also love additional healing speed in addition to the speed boost, because the speed boost never does anything. At all.

maybe for console players and controller users, but I rapid fire all the time on PC and would hate for that feature to be removed because of controller players struggling to use it. that wouldn't be very fair at all.
Yeah, the large ammo count would be pointless too.
I'd rather just remove recoil instead. PC players are basically unaffected by it, they can spray as much as they want and correct the recoil with ease, controller players already struggle with aiming as it is, much less hitting 8 narrow projectiles in a short amount of time. They (technically "we" but eh) don't need a built in mechanic to make doing anything as a already difficult to use Killer even harder.

Yeah... I’m sadly thinking I need to not bother, and keep dismissing my compulsion to keep trying.
I really, REALLY hope (beg) that the next killer isn’t a ranged killer.
I'd honestly just give up unless you like pain or if you're stubborn. That's what I did tbh.
I honestly regret buying this Killer to give them a chance. I don't know why I thought a ranged Killer would somehow be better than Huntress, I guess I wanted to form my own opinions... not a good idea in the slightest.
The only thing good about Trickster is his perks and that's pretty much it. He's more of a Twinkster with how easy it is to bully a console Trickster who has to M1 constantly.

Doesn't Identity V already have a "Photographer" as a Hunter?

@Trickstaaaaa said:

I know you said you tried it out already. But keep on trying to learn by tapping. I had another console user tell me they could hit by tapping. And since if we hold M1 we get horrible recoil, I'm going to assume it's the same case for controller. And another thing the slightest movement can cause recoil as well. So try to keep the analog still.
That's a guaranteed way to give a Survivor 30+ seconds of chase time. Recall that you need to hit 8 knives to take a health state. And leaving at all beforehand makes you lose all of your hard work.
"Tapping" also doesn't change the amount of time it takes to line up a shot, it takes longer to account for Survivors moving around with your aim, it's not as quickly adjustable on a PC. Jungle gyms and shack destroy a console trickster even more than a PC Trickster, it's actually insane.

I’ve come across near god-tier Huntresses, blights, very solid Tricksters etc so yes it’s possible to master any of the killers on console. I was lucky enough to once come across a legendary curve Hillbilly playing on console and it made my day.
Scuff controllers/modded controllers exist along with Cronus zen/max but I’ve never personally purchased and used them for any games so I have no idea if they would give console players an advantage in Dbd. Plus even if those things fly under the radar on tons of games… it’s still cheating and that’s honestly super lame.
Yeah, no offense, but if you're actually saying this, you don't understand the difference.
Console Huntress and console Trickster are actually 2 very different things. On PC the difference is much smaller, but on console, it's a huge difference. You need one successful aim to take a health state with Huntress, Trickster requires you hit 7-8 knives on a freaking controller WHILE dealing with recoil. It's unacceptable, even worse at loops.
-

Now I am scared to buy him. I didn't even realize he had recoil. Like, what?
I play a lot of fps games, so maybe it will be fine, but that sounds clunky.
Just don't buy him. The recoil makes him the worst ranged console Killer in the game. Just play Huntress, no recoil AND you just need one good aim to take a health state. Trickster requires you hit 8 knives atm.

Least Used Survivor Perk: Solo Survivor
Least Used Killer Perk: most likely Monstrous Shrine
Both of these perks are complete garbage and I think are the worst Survivor and Killer perks respectively. Ace and the gang have weak perks but they can at least be used for archives challenges. These two are absolutely worthless.

You're ignorant of how their company structure is right now. Their balancing team is fine. The thing is, the balancing team makes changes, shows intended changes to the people who are in charge of how the game looks, and if those changes dont fit according to the head group, they wont pass.
So looking at their track record is just seeing the changes that did come through, it doesnt show the list of suggested changes. Almo being the head of design doesnt mean he is the head of what changes go through, he's just the one who presents the changes to the higher ups.
Besides, most perks are fine, if not great. The problem is maps and their layouts and killers being unable to use their power with the layouts(ignoring animations that guarantee hits, like vaults). Heck, a lot of 1v1 killers are far too powerful for public lobbies, but weak AF in comp, where 1v4 killers tend to be powerful in comp, but not always as powerful in publics(legion performs better in comp than wraith, for example, people love to say that Trapper, Legion, Clown and Trickster are the worst 4 killers, but dont realize that those killers perform better than Wraith in comp).
Mind if I ask how you came across this information?
"Most perks are fine" I'm sorry but I can't agree with this in the slightest, and I'm also sorry to say that this type of view shouldn't be allowed on the balancing team. A major issue with DBD amongst others is useless perks. The Survivor meta has been fairly stagnant, only really changing in rare cases like DS.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/266217/would-you-work-for-behaviour-interactive
I see no reason to not work for BHVR. Most of the crap they recieve is due to company structure and console release structure, let alone a very dated core game that has a hard time keeping up with modern additions.
I'd be happy to join their balancing team, give killer and power suggestions, new map mechanics that I think would be amazing additions and help balance out maps, and even though the amount of ######### some balancing team members recieve, I do believe people use a handful of bad decisions as fuel to call all decisions that they dont agree with objectively bad(for example, huntress lullaby on doctor was a terrible mechanic, it didnt delay DS's soundchecks, it didnt delay Reverse beartraps' soundchecks, madness skillchecks were the odd one out and in combination with unnerving presence was sometimes near impossible to snap out of without risking death, yet I still see people argue that old lullaby doc was fine because lullaby was a hex).
Just because the game is lacking in some places doesnt mean objectively bad mechanics should be in the game. Spirit's main excuse is that she's one of the few viable killers in comp, that's not an excuse for her mechanics. Noed's main excuse is that sometimes it's needed, that doesnt excuse it's current mechanics. The only reasons survivors are stronger in comp levels(and pretty much always will be, very hard to nerf solid teamwork AND slow the game down with only 4 perks and 2 addons, but you cannot nerf survivors based on comp without nerfing killers based on publics or buffing killers based on comp without buffing survivors based on publics).
So yeah, all that considered, BHVR is really good at what they do. They have developed the formula for 5 years now, its not perfect, and maybe never will be, but it doesnt have to be perfect. It just has to work. People will always complain about those 10% games they lost without ever feeling like they might win, because people love to ignore the 90% of the games they do win, let alone the 15% of their wins where their opponent had no chances of winning. I wouldnt mind working for them.
Yeah, um, looking at their track record... I'd say they need more coders personally. Balancing team also needs replacements if anything, not newer people.

Trickster.
I really want to, the knives hitting a Survivor is satisfying, but he's too weak and is a aiming Killer on console. Which makes him worse than PC Trickster automatically.

Nope.
Unpopular opinion given the forums demographic and what chapters like All-Kill they're trying to appeal to: They're more focused on Twitter and social media, plus virtue signaling, than making the game top priority so... nope.
EDIT: Actually, after seeing what MadLordJack had to say, I wanted to add that BHVR is known for not getting things done and for their mistakes. Which makes one wonder if what people consider to be "a good workplace" is bad overall for game design.
Also, let me just go ahead and read what someone is gonna say to me now or later on: There has to be a balance between the employee and the employer. The scales must not be so far tilted in favor of the employee, same for vice versa. The things being praised here in these reviews actually send red flags that they don't enforce schedules enough. And if what Jack says is true... then BHVR's reputation is explained perfectly.

I'd rather buff Legion or rework them in such a way that they can still jump around pallets and vaults. A lot of people like Legion for their fast playstyle, changing this would take away something extremely unique to this Killer.

It's not unique to killer, true. But it is much more game changing and detrimental to killer.
Generally the only time where the console lag actually matters is when looping a Killer or preparing to Dead Hard. You can straight up run out of a loop during lag when trying to do optimal turning, get turned around as Survivor when moving, or Dead Hard in the wrong direction.
Other than that, Survivors don't suffer as much, making them much easier to grind Archives challenges with.

@Predated said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2338001#Comment_2338001
The main issue is that ff14 having their own servers means that they do not have to apply their update to the servers of other platforms, they just have to update their own servers. That's why when FF14 has an issue that needs a fix, it will be fixed within a week at most(it gets uploaded as soon as it's ready to be uploaded), where in DBD, it takes at least 2 weeks(it gets uploaded about 12 days after it's ready to be uploaded).
And no, dont underestimate the sheer amount of random maps on a server. You cannot compress the data of those maps, where on other games that use the exact same maps, you can cache most of the map on the server for multiple game, you cant really do that on a game where there are 36 maps total, of which only 9 have relatively little randomness to it(licensed maps, 4 of which being springwood, which are still quite random), with none of the other maps being quite the same and hundreds of thousands of matches being played every single minute. Yeah, a lot of processing comes to map generation alone. It's why most gamebreaking bugs lately are related to maps rather than perks or abilities.
And no, my argument still holds. It's core code is aged, sure, but that doesnt mean it's grown out of 5 year old hardware.
I mean, even if they were to optimize the code right now to reduce update bugs, they would still need a seperate optimization for map generation. You cant expect updating the code to fix consile issues. DBD was never made for consoles. It's a console port. It's updated to no longer be able to run perfectly on 5 year old hardware. BHVR isnt a big company in terms of people working there. With all that in mind, you cannot expect a small company to accomodate for 5 year old hardware on a game that recieves updates untill this day. And consoles suffer compared to PC, since consoles are made with hardware that is almost irreplacable and often not the most recent hardware on release.
So yeah, I agree dbd needs a revamp in code, I agree dbd needs a revamp in many things, but that doesnt mean the argument that "dbd should run fine on 5 year old software" is correct, let alone the argument that updates need to be faster. Because dbd isnt 5 year old software. If BHVR was a bigger company, I'd agree with you. If BHVR had their own servers, I'd agree with you. If BHVR had a team that was allowed to fully criticize the game's flaws and what needs changes, rather than a team designated to keep patching the old game up, I'd agree with you.
But that is not the case. With the current stance of their company, their team and their software, I have to argue against the argument that "DBD is 5 years old and I should be able to play it on 5+year old hardware with no issues". Does that excempt BHVR from their mistakes? No, they absolutely NEED to take the risk in revamping their code. They NEED to take a risk and dictate map RNG based on which killer is played rather than maps are equal to all killers. They NEED to find a way to be able to get hotfixes through faster methods(it's possible, but I'm fairly certain it will cost them a bit of money to do so). But just because that needs to be done and that those fixes will help on older consoles, doesnt make the argument that is being made a valid one.
That's like arguing against a law being stupid, and instead of going to the government to have a stupid law being revamped just breaking the law on how stupid it actually is and refusing to pay the bail coming with that because you think it's a stupid law. It might, by all means, be a stupid law. But it is still a law and law enforcement is inplace to uphold all laws. So you can see that breaking the law even though you're fully correct in it being a stupid law, isnt a valid option to argue it's a stupid law.
Reminder that:
- A bunch of people cannot upgrade to the "superior next gen hardware" and likely will not be able to for months
- DBD is not that complex, the graphics aren't even that of Apex, it should not be struggling on PS4 and Xbox One, given these consoles' power.
- RE8 runs at a stable 30FPS on console, DBD does not, proving that the issue is not the hardware but DBD itself
- Apex has bigger maps and more players on screen, yet has no frame drops whatsoever. Again, proof that it's DBD.
Like, it's fairly obvious that it's DBD. "5 year old hardware" is not that outdated in the slightest and people keep underestimating the power that the "last gen consoles" have to excuse BHVR.
Besides, if the thing about the game loading up every single file for a trial is true, PS5s and other consoles will begin to lag a few chapters later too. And things will just repeat themselves.

I will happily admit this is the case for Iran, where homosexuality is stoned, but you will need to prove this is "widespread and often violent" in first world countries. PS5 is a console. These issues aren’t present on PS5.
I’m not bragging. Im just pointing out the fact that it’s important to be clear and concise instead of vague.
I get what you're saying, but this is honestly just semantics, especially since the majority play on "last gen consoles".
IIRC, Sony said they expect 60% of their sales this year to be from PS4 people. The "last gen" players. This isn't like when the PS4 was new, developers HAVE to optimize for PS4 and Xbox One.
... People keep underestimating the power of these consoles anyways. Apex Legends, Bloodborne, RE8, Kingdom Hearts 3. All of these games run beautifully on PS4 with stable FPS. DBD is NOT a advanced game, DBD is Yandere Simulator-level coding.

I love the map, but it is definitely poorly designed.
The map is far too large, with going from one end to the other taking the same time as Mother's Dwelling, and it's 2 floors. If they split the map into 2 versions with either the East/West side blocked off it would be a huge improvement.
Most of the pallets/windows are either too strong or too weak, with hardly any in between.
However, it's still my favorite map next to Midwich, partly because I know the layout well and my mains are pretty good on both.
Honestly, I feel the same. The hallways have too much distance between loops and pallets. It feels too bad for Survivor in chases. They made it TOO much of a 1:1 scale instead of adding walls and stuff to make loops and adapt the map to DBD.

Nope, most maps you can look for the flashy lights that can be seen from a distance. Indoor maps don't have this, and have an alternative way for locating generators, but I have yet to find something for RPD. Even if you find a generator, the moment you complete it or have to leave it, you're probably not going to find it again unless you played Resident Evil 2 Remake.

The map is just too big and gives the player no sense of direction. You can literally get lost, the killer gets more time from survivors looking for a generator than the survivors actually doing the generator.
I wished the map was different, maybe The Hive would've been a better choice.
No, they just needed to add more landmarks, breakable walls, pallets and vaults. Survivors defenses are #########, that's the actual main problem.
Finding gens... honestly, isn't that what people complained about on every single map?

"actually good changes to the Trickster that the community suggests to make him stronger but not so dumb to face."
Thats exactly what BHVR did, do you have any idea how many people were saying to reduce the amount of knives to damage? And now every one is complaining that they listened.
They just need to make him unique from the other range killers, either make piercing knives or ricochet knives built into his kit
Ricochet knives should definitely be base, remove the recoil that only hurts console players and give knives the ability to interrupt as well. Would make sniping people off of gens more interesting and allow for long range plays.

Rework.
Maybe make it so traps can't be placed near hooks and can be walked over, but they can't be destroyed by flashlights?
Absolutely not, this would make her garbage tier.
Just crouch, why is this so hard?

When you have challenges that say ‘down 25 survivors’ it’s pretty inevitable that slugging is about to happen.
To be perfectly honest, I play Spirit with a slugging build and that typically works. Gets 25 downs in a trial if you just hit them when they get picked up. Deerstalker and Sloppy makes this wonderful.
You need to down Survivors ASAP and have the mobility to ensure they stay down, which Spirit is great for.

Had hardly any games with all cakes, get 3 at most, but seen many killers camp but they will full in slug everyone with a dc at the start of the game. And survivors dc like mad. But yeah pretty crappy event as usual, times like this I wish I did 4 man swf
Still think they need to turn on the DC penalties, it's not as common for console players as Pulsar and the others might say. Lag for sure, but that's not a excuse to DC.

I'm on console you're on pc I ran you for 3 gens beating me on hook and nodding only makes me laugh. I mean If it makes you feel better to Bm me on hook after a chase like that I guess go right ahead.
Bro, did you run this guy WITH the current console lag issues?
That's so embarrassing for the PC Killer if that's the case. lmao
