¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Everyone can't agree. That's fine. Just his opinion ma dude.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work. The major issue is that his opinions get held in very, very high esteem and are regurgitated almost always whenever Spirit comes up. His influence is very strong because of people championing around him because he says what they want to hear despite the lower view count his videos get.

That no competition survives is pretty much proof that DBD is NOT garbage.

If you look at the reasons why all of the asym competition has died, it's either extremely bad luck (Last Year on Discord and Discord closing the store randomly... and what ACTUALLY ended their game for good: Covid), legal trouble (Friday the 13th) or a unfun "rock paper scissors" formula (Resistance)...

It's not always because the games were bad.

Lots of people hate scott because he debunked myths about spirit animation/shards/viable counterplay and has made videos explaining why spirit and Deathslinger can have no counterplay without being op.

You mean via his "retroactive counterplay" video? Which had a bunch of cherrypicking and can be easily applied to facing good Survivors as Killer? "Oh, this Claudette feints vaults, I learnt that after she vaulted and restarted the entire chase", etc.

I STILL remember that "you can't dodge slinger's shots within 12 meters" line. It's a harpoon gun, do you think anyone can dodge a gun that close?

Who hates Scott Jund? He seems like a genuinely cool and funny dude.

Wrote this prior: "Given his takes on Twitter and some of the unnecessary political references in his videos, plus some of the worst takes on meta killers, I doubt it. He isn't a "Killer main", he has mixed opinions but some of the most prominent ones like on Spirit make him sound EXTREMELY Survivor biased."

Some of his videos frustrated me, I didn't even want to click on the one with the Trump thumbmail.

People mostly like him because he's the one who started the "Spirit has no counterplay" thing, he channeled their inner desire to give up and gave them a line to cite off so they can DC upon seeing Spirit is the Killer.

And all of the people with perfect English and typical "counterplay" buzzwords almost always turn out to be Jund fans.

    It's unfortunate that he's a community leader.

But in the regards to the video... 4 minutes in and everything seems fine. It makes sense, this might be one of his better videos.

Yeah, I play mostly survivor, and unfortunately no one is playing Trickster atm as I can see today, I have only ran across one so far and that was the first game I played. Maybe people are practicing in private lobbies instead

I ran into several on console, some have bought cosmetics, but I sense that's going to dry out reeeeal fast unless they find some cheese strategy.

  • @My_Aespa said:

I think he is honestly fun to play against, I see killers are already learning new perk combos to make him even better and it's looking pretty good. I've only played him one time and found him quite frustrating to play as survivors easily can dodge these knives and Main Event isn't the best skill a killer could have... he is quite fashionable though 😉👍️

So, aka, he's F tier and you're someone who plays mostly Survivor, right?

  • Literally the only considerable option on here is the Undetectable change. Everything else favors Survivor heavily, has ways to deal with it, or is unnecessary. Shape rework included.

I don't really care about NOED, I want rancor fixed because I have died many times to doing my objective and not being able to hide. I remember one match where I kept trying to get people to do the last gen so I could hide, and it was so unfun because I knew no matter what I did the spirit would phase, down, and mori me because of her perk. At least with noed it's just doing bones, but rancor takes your primary objective and punishes you or one of your teammates for it.

Try to get your team to bodyblock for you. The obsession can guess that the Killer has Rancor and get behind people to take hits for them.

A good Blight is as uncounterable as Spirit or Nurse in chase. That's why he's also a S tier killer. He completely nullifies loops like Shack and Jungle Gyms and the ones he can't use his power (which are very few), he just forces the pallet and get you after anyway, and I'm not even putting J-flick into the equation.

I love playing Blight, but people who think he's the pinnacle of balance just play against mediocre/bad Blights to begin with, the same goes for Nurse.

How does he nullify these loops without accounting for exploits?

I mean, you can say whatever you want about Spirit, but Blight is harder to play than Spirit. Good Blights deserve the extra thought that Survivors have to apply to countering them.

I cannot emphasize how much I love this graphic.

  • TBH, I kinda wish Blight had some mechanic that let him deal with different kinds of short or "hard to bounce off quickly to get to the other side of" loops... maybe some sort of mechanic where the direction you move and your camera's direction affects movement somehow would be nice. The "j-flick" needs to go though, this fixes the problem but in a terrible way.

Competitor is a very big word for this lol.

Other games like Friday the 13th or Last Year looked waaaaay better. Both aesthetically and gameplay wise but still failed.

This game is gonna die like the rest before them.

Saying that Friday died like Last Year is a bit of a... reversed situation.

Friday died because of the lawsuit and Miller winning, the devs also abandoned the project (whether or not you believe that the lawsuit was a chance to run away or not). However, Friday STILL has a LOT of players on console. No content was coming out for at least a few years now, and I still get lobbies on PS4. Not sure about PC, I heard Xbox lobbies are also alive though.

Last Year had the opposite situation. I think the bad, unlucky start on Discord pulling the plug on their store, plus the balancing issues that continued to be a constantly switching power role between classmate and fiend when it finally made it to Steam was what really stopped the game from taking off. Covid put the nail in the coffin: They were going to get a publisher deal, the contract just needed to be signed, but Covid ruined that chance for them. Something happened to the publishers and they had to cancel the deal.

It's like someone up above decreed that their game would be hampered with by unlucky circumstances.

That'd probably annoy killers even more, honestly. It'd be a proper 'third health state' in that case, which is what is being complained about, since you'd actually get the hit cooldown and the survivor gets the speed boost from being hit, in contrast to now, where the distance covered is minimal and the killer incurs the miss cooldown instead.

Not to mention that people complained about third health states (for doing poorly) with Mettle of Man, if you remember that major problem.

A extra health state every 60 seconds would be unacceptable, you'd have to double the tier 3 cooldown to 120 seconds at minimum for this to even be tolerable.

  • I checked the build... it's strong but it's counterable. Two Survivors on mic can shut down this build if they work together.

It's already known by smart Survivors and Killers that Thrill can be turned against the Killer by forcing them to drop chases or abandon gens to protect their hex by simply tapping a hex and then crouching nearby. If the Killer doesn't return, sit on the hex and break it. Ez.

In terms of this build, the same strategy applies, except you should to do bodyblocking if the Killer is a M1 Killer to buy time, or force "lose/lose" scenarios by having you and your teammate sit on two different hexes at the same time. No matter what happens, the Killer loses a hex. This can be done with one other smart teammate or one SWF partner. 2 man SWFs are common btw, according to official stats, so yeah.

I can see how this build is strong against a full solo team, but all it takes is one or two smart Survivors to recognize Thrill and Undying in this setup mid-trial (can be done by tapping a hex) and quickly check if Ruin is active to figure out the main gimmick to this build, and then body block or do the "lose/lose" tactic and force the Killer to lose hexes.

This build is also reliant on Survivors respecting Ruin. If Survivors don't 3 gen themselves or if the Killer isn't Spirit or a mobility Killer, this build either falls apart fast or causes a M1 Killer to lose the game because they had to defend their hexes all game.

EDIT: Also, let me add some more input: A Killer like Billy with a instadown to disrespect bodyblocking and mobility to dash between hexes might benefit the most from this build, but Survivors can still force lose/lose situations in this instance by staying aggressive on hexes. Get chased off of a totem? Go back on it. If the Killer doesn't return to defend another hex, stay on it and the Killer loses a hex. If the Killer returns, return to a loop while your teammates break other hexes. You should be able to point out hexes to other people by having them follow you around and watch the Killer to guess when they're moving to defend a hex and set up these lose/lose scenarios in solo queue.

Trapper with his traps to buy time could work, but he's a M1 Killer with no mobility, meaning that lose/lose and being aggressive on totems still works and bodyblocking counters him because of no instadown.

I can't remember when was last time somebody was running rancor, and nobody uses stridor other than spirits and adept nurses, so kind of dumb comparison. Deadhard is way overused imo, and it allows ppl to getaway with dumbest mistakes and punish killers with a push of button.Same goes pretty much for ds but thankfully it's getting nerfed.

Dead Hard to Blight is as Spirit Burst to Legion.

It is beyond frustrating. I run into at least one DH per game who always uses it to dodge my lethal rushes and make me waste tons of time. They get away with so much because of how Blight HAS to lunge and can't just swing.

If you are tired of these posts and, then don't read them or comment on them. And this still doesn't excuse you for being rude.

You keep saying I don't know what I am talking about, but you aren't even giving yourself a chance to think about this "glimpse" feature. You are just saying I am survivor-biased without actually giving my second post a chance. This first thread was understandable, but my second one you already said you wouldn't look at but maybe you should. I do agree that I came off as survivor biased this thread, but you can't seem to get past that and instead assume that I am just someone who is completely survivor biased. I mentioned buffing spirit to compensate but didn't provide some options, my mistake. If you would just read my second post about this, you might think differently.

Also no, I do not agree with any of those listed points. You are just being rude and condescending now. At least read my second post about the new ideas I brought up instead of just telling me how bad this is and how survivor biased I am (even though I have made several posts that can help you see that I am not survivor biased).

And let this continue? No thank you.

Also, I wasn't excusing anything, I was explaining my actions. It's up to you whether you want to hold it against me or remember it.

I also think you misinterpreted me again or I wasn't clear enough: I have not read your second post yet, I need to read it, review it while looking for problems, and then type out a response. You want counterarguments, no? Give me some time, I will get to it eventually. So far, I've been one of the people who engaged you the most, I think, even though I've been rude.

I was trying to say that I already read this suggestion, considered it, and then disagreed and voiced why I disagreed in this topic, since I thought the subject was still on this post.

Ok, well just because you think you are right doesn't justify being rude.

I may have misinterpreted what you said, but I am not survivor biased. I like to think of myself as a very 50/50 person when it comes to this game and yes, me agreeing with this main idea may make it seem otherwise, but I made a mistake by setting the glimpses to just a mere one second. I think you should really think about how glimpses of the spirit while she phases could be healthy.

Try commenting on my second post in case you somehow feel a little better with the changes.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/236920/reworking-the-spirit-part-2#latest

In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have been so rude, but this is the 3127802431702137th "nerf spirit" topic that gives a nerf idea to "make her more FuN" which destroys Spirit. I'm honestly tired of debunking the same claims repeatedly and unmasking the person making the suggestion as someone who is biased while clearly explaining why.

I also already read, considered, and refuted the entire suggestion. It's "healthy" for exactly one side, which reveals bias.

And yes, you are survivor biased because of the reasons I already stated: A massive nerf that favors Survivor and shows a complete lack of understanding of the killer being nerfed, the typical buzzwords, doubling down on things.

You may "like to think of yourself' as a 50/50 person, but this nerf specifically shows that you don't understand what you're talking about and that you're focused on one side's "fun". There are certain nerfs and buffs that immediately reveal if someone is biased, period, and I can specifically name some of these and I have a feeling you WOULD agree with me:

-wanting loops or pallets removed altogether

-wanting a top tier killer buffed even more with no nerfs

-wanting a major perk for one side buffed to the heavens or nerfed into the ground with no compensation or actually acceptable explanation

-wanting the killer to not be able to m1 or use their power

-wanting a top tier killer nerfed into the ground with no buffs

And these may sound ridiculous and like nobody would make them, but it gets my point across: Proposed buffs and nerfs that don't consider the other side in the slightest and are focused on making one side better even if the other side suffers. That's bias.

You mentioned "buffing Spirit", but everything else showed that you don't understand how Spirit works and how this change would kill her chase potential and make her pretty much mobility only.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2046554#Comment_2046554

I.... I am a killer who plays in red ranks as well... I play this game very 50/50....

I already mentioned how the Spirit has no real counterplay, so I am just going to copy and paste that comment here.

"There is no real counterplay to spirit because there is nothing to react to. Counterplay is playing against what your opponent is doing, but spirit gives no information to the survivor when she is phasing so you have nothing to react to. All you are doing is guessing. if she phases around a pallet you can run to the other side, drop it, and maybe stun her, but that is just guessing."

So, you don't know the definition of mindgames either, I suppose?

People who look for things to react to with their eyes or ears will obviously struggle against Spirit because they're playing wrong. You need to get into the Spirit's head and predict what she's trying to do. This is almost always very obvious if you play Killer, you can guess where she's going to move to consistently. That's LITERAL mindgames being done.

It's as others said, you don't know how to approach Spirit because she makes you think differently, and you are reliant on your eyes and ears, hence you struggle against Spirit.

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2046414#Comment_2046414

Ok, well I can see how one second is too short, what about 1.5 or 1.7 seconds and the glimpses only show up for .6 seconds?

You seem a little rude in your last paragraph btw, just assuming I am an entitled survivor player instead of offering constructive critisicm with valid suggestions.

I play survivor and killer very 50/50 btw. And no I don't want survivors to just walk over the spirit either, I wanted to see what we can do with this idea to change spirit to be more fun to go against but still strong.

One second is too short? Did you read my comment? No, glimpses shouldn't exist period, it's TMI. You need to think of something else and stop listening to Jund and Otzdarva.

And yeah, I WAS being rude/harsh without insulting you. Because I'm right, and you pulled out the "I play both sides" card, like there isn't only two sides to play in this game, making this not valid. Not to mention that you think I said "Survivor main", not "Survivor BIASED". Which you are, and still clearly are, because you're doubling down.

And of course, you're doing the same "BUT A GOOD -INSERT KILLER-" goalpost move that people in Otz's server do as well to justify nerfs: Balancing the game around the 2% of players who spend the time to learn a killer or understand how they work.

"And no I don't want survivors to just walk over the spirit either, I wanted to see what we can do with this idea to change spirit to be more fun to go against but still strong."

"I don't want survivors to just walk over spirit... I just want survivor to just walk over spirit by implementing a nerf that destroys any chase potential. :)"

  • @LastBreath said:

Use Spine Chill and Iron Will and you will see how easy is to play against her.

Don't forget that Iron Will is good versus basically every Killer with headphones, not just Spirit. Helps a lot with outplaying at loops and doing tight, risky doublebacks at objects to buy time.

  • @Yords said:

The problem with the Spirit is that she gives no indication as to when she is phasing. This makes it very unfun to play against her.

In Otzdarva's community-made patch notes, he talks about the spirit and the ideas people came up with. The suggestion to rework her was to make her reveal herself to the survivors every second or so during her phasing. This way, it could open up for some actual mindgames and predictions while also allowing survivors to tell when she is phasing.

This would also make it really skillful to play the spirit because you have to rely on good reads and predictions when phasing for only a short time while survivors can see you.

It would also be really cool and fix the main problem people have with her. She could probably receive a buff or two in order to compensate for this nerf, but I think this is a great idea.

Then there are her addons which also need to be looked at and changed. For some reason, the duration addons also increase recovery speed as well.

I can't think of any other changes she would need to compensate for this rn (too lazy), but maybe if there are any flaws you guys can point them out.

This idea is still bad, even when hearing it another time.

The problem with your, and therefore Otzdarva's and his entire chat's, idea is that it basically makes Spirit have no "mindgame potential". This is a purely one-sided nerf, "every second" is Too Much Information. Makes Killer shack super easy to consistently deny Spirit of anything, one second is more than enough to know which direction she is coming from, and a double back is impossible without add-ons and can be guessed because of how long it's taking for her to reappear. Standing still in phase wouldn't work because she'd be revealed every second. Don't forget that you, presumably, want her to remain unable to see Survivors, since you mention buffing her but previously said you want "good reads and predictions".

110% Killers are supposed to have strong powers that help with chases, your idea makes her power only good for mobility. This would make her drop several tiers.

I'm willing to bet that this is another Survivor biased person, based off of how this is almost purely Survivor favored, destroys a Killer's sole ability, mentions a buff to compensate (but, of course, doesn't know what said buff would be) as a handwave and uses buzzwords like "skill", "counterplay", "good reads and predictions" (btw you just admitted because of this that predictions are fine when the Killer has to do it. You literally want Survivors to not have to think.)

  • I have a question: How is Freddy unfun to play as? I can see weaknesses in him but he's top tier because of his rework, last I checked... and he's super easy to play.

  • Depends on if we have knowledge of DBD or not.

If we have knowledge, escaping becomes 70% easier and there is a good chance that one can escape consistently. Without prior knowledge... it would be quite hard to say the least.

As for me... we feel compassion for others when they are hurt or in trouble. It's why people sacrifice themselves or undergo pain for others. One would say "I wouldn't do anything for them", but if someone was hurting in front of you, or sitting on a meat hook, would you REALLY not try and do something?

My choice is obvious. I don't know if I could do gens unless the gens can be repaired by newbies or can be understood quickly. I'd like to think that I can catch on to things quickly enough to escape...

I see what you mean by the no chase comment now, but there are other stealth killers that sneak up and get hits without long chases as well. I think the stealth thing sounds super cool from a thematic standpoint, would solve the problem of legion’s poor downing ability, and would make him a much stronger killer. No doubt people would complain.

For reasons you probably aren't expecting: People play Legion to go fast and vault over stuff. That was actually a complaint about the Legion rework years ago, with Legion becoming barely any faster in their power and taking away a big thing people loved about Legion.

They just need something to up the lethality of Frenzy, either by making Deep Wound more scary somehow or introducing a downing mechanic to Frenzy. Personally, I have several problems with this rework idea, even with the changes it has undergone. It's, at it's core, not a good idea and I can explain why.

I don't think the intent was to complain as much as it was to educate survivors that they should just hold w.

Scott does a better job explaining the phenomena the only reason the killers seem fast is that they can cut off survivors by taking a diagonal route.

Twins don't need nerfs, they need buffs, their power is overbalanced and weak.

Well, speculation about ownership is just speculative.

I think that BHVR learned from the lessons of Soldier 76, being the vitriol over “forced” diversity (which I can’t say isn’t true). The reality is that the majority of the player base of this game is a bunch of edgy reactionary pseudointellectuals, which won’t take very kindly to apparent diversity hires.

Not really, one can check a company's shareholders via sites on the Internet. It's more public than you think.

And the evidence against your "majority" is literally the amount of people mentioning the homophobes, plus how a majority of the DBD community is apparently LGBT(?). So.

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

That was complete speculation based on a simple color scheme.

Plus, as has been detailed in the past, creating a LGBT character is a risky catch-22, since if they are just a normal character who happens to be gay, you get accused of recruiting a diversity hire. If they are “recognizably” gay, you eat accused of stereotyping.

Not to mention that, from what I've heard, Chinese companies own quite a bit of BHVR iirc and China does not allow LGBT characters.

For example, Soldier 76 from Overwatch is LGBT here, but straight in China. BHVR was probably paying lip service to get your support.

  • I've seen more people going "homophobes mad" and making topics like this than actual homophobes. That should be telling that they aren't a major issue. I watched Paulie's stream for a bit, they're a minority.

People can feel that the chapter doesn't fit DBD, or be worried about toxic kpop fans without being a problem. This chapter is very... unique compared to the previous ones. New killer feels like a psychopath from Dead Rising, background reinforces this tbh.

Sounds like a revamp on the Phantom of the Opera concept, brought in for a modern day. Magnum Opus, while it can be applied to any type of art, is more frequently used for musical/vocal scores. The picture on the Twitter account has half the face hidden in shadow, and the person is dressed like a flamboyant rock star. I wouldn't put it past them to reimagine the Phantom for the modern age. Canadians are, after all, extremely fond of the film Phantom of the Paradise which itself was a reimagining of the Phantom of the Opera for its day.

Imagine what a new killer based on music and sound could do for misdirection. I also imagine the power of a unique music score to covering a lot of a modern Techno-Disco location set in a modern Asian country, combining the strongest elements of their versions of a mad Pop Star. So, no, I don't think that image on the Twitter account is the new Survivor. I think it is clearly the new Killer and half of his face is hidden in shadow on purpose.

There was symbols in another language on a new tweet on their profile, people think this chapter may be Korean somehow.

  • "Mightee One Entertainment" doesn't exist as a real company, neither does it exist in any game or media. This is most likely a original chapter, sorry OP.

The woman in this image is either the next Survivor or the next Killer. And she's a original DBD character, I'm guessing.

  • Worst designed perk might be... basically all of Steve's perks. I truly think Steve may have some of the worst teachables in this game. All of them are in dire need of big buffs, they don't stand at all compared to Nancy's teachables.

-Babysitter should have the scratch mark and bloodpools removed for 15-20 seconds, since the amount it does now is worthless for actually getting away or "Babysitting" the survivor rescued. Maybe add healing speed or something else when healing the unhooked survivor in particular too, idk.

-Camaderie should be buffed so it either works on both phases, triggers based off of killer proximity instead of survivor proximity as others have suggested... or, perhaps, the survivors are somehow told if you have this perk so they can take advantage of it.

-Second Wind should honestly be buffed so it maybe triggers when you get picked from being slugged too, not JUST when unhooked. Because this perk only has a CHANCE to proc twice per game for a relatively underwhelming effect. There were concerns that you could loop a Killer for long enough to get healed mid-chase but this clearly didn't happen.

  • Honestly, slightly unrelated, but luck as a whole high key needs a rework, it's currently one of the most useless mechanics in DBD. Vigo's Salty Lips only gives a whopping 3% chance to escape per offering, making it basically worthless without a coordinated squad also burning luck offerings.

I had a group of survivors call me racial and homosexual slurs yesterday, then they used about every bankable and hateful word in existence and not a single one is banned? I feel like slurs should definitely be bankable right. Even if I'm white and straight I think the fact that they said them is the bannable part right?

You made sure to report them and take photos of the chat, right? I think there is one more step that you should take that will help them get banned. It's either sending it to the mods on the Discord server, or post it on the forums in a specific category.

So much this. Adrenaline was getting so much hate back then and now it's like killers have completely forgotten about how 'op', 'unfair' and 'broken' it is.

It's probably because Adrenaline isn't used as much nowadays. It's still strong but it gets switched out for other perks that don't require genrush like DS, BT, Dead Hard, etc.

  • You mean right now?

I think the meta is "genrush" now more than ever because of how bad the hitboxes are and how looping feels impossible.
