Still wishing death in DBD because I park Victor next to a hook.

  • Nurse is one of the least played killer with the worst winrate. If anything, she deserves a buff.

First counter is precisely what I asked for to be changed, as blinking down or up counters that.

    I agree with blocking los.

    Dh only works once.

The first counter only works against bad nurses. A good nurse will not look down, instead she will hold her blink for a perfect distance, in which even if you run backward she will still be able to get you with the 2nd blink.

    • Nurse is very slow, slower than survivors. Everything about her is her power : blinks. To mess up with her blinks, you can either run backward when she is charging (you can hear her use the power get an idea of the blink distance). If she is expecting you to hold W, she will blink too far. This only works against bad nurses. It is a huge waste of time for her because she has to wait for her power to recharge + she loses line of sight of you during fatigue. The 2nd solution is to block her line of sight and use verticality on maps. For example, on Ormond, the main building is strong against her imho, especially at the stairs when it is hard to predict and blink accurately. A good nurse has a mental map, but nobody is perfect and even them can mess up.
    • Dead hard is also a very good counter to her because a good nurse will use the 1st blink to close distance / force dead hard and the 2nd blink to injure.
  • Not trying to taunt but maybe you should learn to counter her instead of asking for nerfs.

About stats : very few killers mains play her, and fewer are good with her (her winrates are horrible).

And that's why the SBMM is a failure, we can all make cakes (end result) but that doesnt mean they're the same (process)

You can use hooks to get the average skill of someone and itd be more accurate.

You cant say kills allows them to get an overall picture when hooks can do EXACTLY that just more detailed.

The fact 1 kill can be 0-9hooks just shows it's too vague to be accurate. Kills mean something yes, but is some who gets 1 hook and 1 kill consistently the same skill as someone who gets 9 hooks and 1 kill consistently? No. The answer is no...

This system only punished face camping 1st hook to death. Only reason not to like it is if you play that way (face camping bubba)

    • We already explained to you that the objective of the killer is to get kills, not hooks. Hooks are a tool to get kills, but you can slug or force 2nd stage on hook (even without facecamping) by being smart and playing well. If a killer (A) manage to get kills but not many hooks VS another killer (B) who can get a ton of hooks but no kills then A is has more skill than B. The results of A are better than B. It doesn’t matter matter if A uses dirty tactics that you don’t like in your survivor rulebook. In the end, he got more kills. It’s the same for any PVP game, it doesn’t matter how you got the results (as long as you don’t cheat), it’s all that matters. Maybe your strategy was cheap, dirty, it doesn’t matter. In DBD, either you escape or you get killed by the killer.
    • Hooks are not everything in a trial at all. Hooks can be denied : sabotage, bodyblock…or worse, survivors would be able to suicide and lower the MMR gain for the killer on purpose. Some perks (Knock out for example) promotes slugging which is an alternative way of killing.
    • You seem to be obsessed with camping bubbas, but your system doesn’t prevent this gameplay at all.
  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2842027#Comment_2842027

1 hook, they get off and tunnel, 2nd hook get off and tunnel, 3rd hook. That's 3 points so tunneling isnt punished at all.

Camping yes, but not completely, if you force the odd survivor to go into the next stage you arent really punished.

The only way you get punished by this is by 1hooking and camping that 1 person all game. By face camping bubba for example.

So no doesnt punish those plays or strats only face camping people from first hook to death.

BP has no revelations to skill what so ever, so no that's a terrible system.

Getting 1 kill as killer will already decrease MMR. You are not solving anything because there is no problem. Right now, if you want to get high MMR as killer you have to get a lot of kills, which is hard against good teams of survivors.

A camping Booba won't get to high MMR by camping 1 hook and letting 3 survivors escape. If you are getting matched against these kind of killers, it's because you are not high MMR, and if you are still losing against this strategy, it's because you are even lower.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Didnt read or you dont understand. System doesnt punish tunneling.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2841623#Comment_2841623

The point is to better match all players, the current system is too vague and doesnt take into account what actually happens. A big reason alot of people feel they are miss placed as the current system doesnt actually see how well or bad you did. It just sees black and white

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2841699#Comment_2841699

A good player will consistently play well, this system would actually place people more accurately instead of having players raise or lower too quickly. I do actually use a version of the emblems for the survivors system I made up but killer it doesnt work as well. The old killer emblems system gave you puts for over long chases it also gave you puts for doing simple actions, you got rewarded for hits but hits dont matter if you cant get one hook. It's a simple system, rewards those that can get lots of hooks or kills no matter how (slug or tunnel) but punishes those who hard facecamp (bubba as example)

    "1 hook = 1 point

If a survivor reaches next stage = 0.5points"

It does punish tunneling with proxycamping and defending hooks. You want survivor to be able to rescue and killers have to get more hooks to get more points. As I said before, some killers have powers / abilities to achieve this, some don't. It shows that you don't really understand the killer gameplay.

If you really want to stop facecamping, a better solution is to merge all the survivor BP into a pool + merge MMR gain to force them to work together and cooperate. This way, if 3 survivors escape, all survivors will increase their MMR, including the one that died to the facecamping Booba for example. But, if only 1 manage to escape, he will still lose MMR, because as a whole, the team did poorly.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2841555#Comment_2841555

You probably wont get it but it's about balance and actually having SBMM based of you know skill, hence the S.

This system would also reward skillful players over non skillful ones. If you really think a face camping bubba is skillful and shows good balance then yeah that's and issue.

A system like this would allow better balancing and a better understanding on how killers can perform. Seeings a 2k average doesnt mean on average killers are getting any X hooks. This system adds that depth for better overall balancing

And if you understood this system I made it doesnt actually punish players who use tactics like tunneling or forcing the next stage of a hook.

ALL this system actually does is punish the full on facecamp noed (0skill style) and rewards players that are skillful. If you're against this system I'm guessing you cant get many hooks, theres no other reason to actually dislike it.

I haven't even done the survivor system yet and no I dont think escapes matter, that's the current flawed system. The system I made up (not posted) actually rewards skill.

I am sorry but that is YOUR definition of skill. They are killers with powers allowing them to have fast down / chases (nurse, blight) and others way better at defending hooks (hag, booba…). Defending hooks / denying rescue will result in less hooks overall, and less MMR gain with your system.

Also, your system punish tunneling, which is a valid strategy. I don’t want to follow your survivor book forcing me to hook different survivors. What if my build is based around hooking / tunneling the obsession ?

And even if it works, what does it solved ? Nothing. The DBD community, killers or survivors won’t change their way of playing and their definition of a victory / defeat. Camping Bubba will still camp, at lower MMR against less experienced survivors. Tunneling Nurses will still tunnel, and thanks to you again, at a lower MMR.

Ask survivors and killers this :

    • What is your definition of winning ?

If I can’t get a single kill as killer, it doesn't matter how many hooks I made (8 for exemple), it’s a defeat for me. I would rather have 1 kill and less hooks. I am playing killer to kill, not hooking them and saying goodbye as they leave through the gates.

And as survivor, it doesn’t matter how many gen we did / pallet stun / long chases. If we cannot get a single survivor out, it’s a hard loss. I don’t deserve to gain MMR if I don’t ever escape, it doesn’t make sense.

  • What is the point of this change ? There is no ladder and MMR is hidden.

Like it or not but if you cannot get any kill on the long term and only hooks, it means you are not really trying to win (yes, tunneling is a valid strategy). Why should you be rewarded with a higher MMR ?

Also, if you have this playstyle, why do you bother about raising your MMR ? I mean, I am a killer main (nurse), and trust me, the game is way more fun at low MMR when survivors / killers use fun perks instead of meta slave BT / DS / DH / UB / or COH. Nothing is preventing you to keep this playstyle as a killer.

Now, let’s say you are a survivor main. Why do you bother about killers playing for kills instead of hooks ? Because you don’t like dying and not escaping ? Well, guess what, MMR is balanced around 2 kills / 2 escapes (which is not fair for a horror game, imho it should be only 1 escape with a "final girl" like in movies) so in the end, even if the killer get more hooks, he is supposed to have a average of 2 kills.

  • @SammehStormborn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2764950#Comment_2764950

Your play style is, even if you don’t want to admit it, inflammatory in itself. Many survivors don’t like that play style - you tunnelling means you’re playing... well. Especially on one of the two strongest killers (nurse). It also means you could chase someone else if you’re camping - something you say you’re playing for. No, it doesn’t give them the right to say the things they are saying in endgame chat - but you’re adding fuel to the fire and not helping the situation. You’re using endgame perks which means you’d probably get a couple kills regardless - you could camp at the end if you needed to, probably secure more kills with NOED.

it’s also funny you say you don’t want to patrol gens, you don’t have to if you’re decent at finding and tracking survivors - if you aren’t, there’s enough aura reading perks to help you with that :)

finally, you seem to be “poking the bear” in the screenshots you’ve posted. You say it’s affecting your mental health, but you respond until they say something really derogatory? Just don’t engage, especially when you can gauge from the first message or two they aren’t being chill.

like others have said, don’t engage in the chat, close it and ignore it. It seems it isn’t serving any purpose, especially with the way you choose to play.

if you do want to keep it up, and not find different ways of playing, then report and move on. But don’t keep adding fuel to the fire.

    Hello,

I don’t remember saying I was camping ? Camping is not smart if you want to tunnel because they will not rescue and smash gens instead. A good tunneler will make survivors believe he is chasing someone else so that a 3rd survivor will come for the rescue and only 1 survivor will be working on a gen.

Now you are going to ask me, why don’t you commit to the chase instead of tunnel the person that was hooked ? Because let’s say you down that survivor and hook him, the other survivor that was saved in the first place will be healed and nowhere to be found (we are talking about good survivors here, they know how to hide and to counter BBQ). So you will have to chase another survivor (a third one) splitting your hooks on the team while gens are being worked on. And if the survivors have half a brain they will make it so everybody take turns being hook buying enough time to complete all 5 gen and get a 4 man escape. So to solve this problem, the easiest solution is so tunnel the first survivor (while pretending you are not tunneling so they rescue him fast) until he is dead and you are in a 1vs3 that is way more manageable.

Why not injure multiple survivors instead and applying pressure so they stop working on gens ? Circle of healing allows survivors to heal themselves so no time is lost, and the rest of the team don’t have to stop working on gen, find the survivor and heal him.

That’s why tunneling is the only consistent strategy to win. You may no like it, but it’s the meta at high mmr. Of course before skill based matchmaking, trials were so unbalanced you didn’t have to tunnel to win, and sure they are professional streamers playing 10 hours a day that can win without tunneling because they know the maps so well they could draw them with eyes closed with all the pallets and gen location but for everybody else it’s the most efficient strategy.

I am so glad rhe devs hinted that they are working on more ways to punish the tunneling like this. It's low skilled play really.

They have never said that btw. They don’t like facecamping, but proxycamping and tunneling have never been a problem.

It’s the opposite, the new dead man switch makes it way easier to tunnel. And tunneling is mandatory if you want to have a chance at high mmr because there is no way you can win a game doing 12 hooks while preventing them to do 5 gen against very good survivors. That’s 1 hook in less than half a gen against 4 survivors. It’s impossible. Anyone at high mmr knows that, killer or survivor.

  • Because it's not about winning, it's about humiliating the killer. These people are sadist addicted to humiliation.

You don’t need insidious if you want to camp. Use no way out instead.

  • Sounds like a hidden survivor rulebook.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

Just looking at the list it seems like the list has quiet a few perks pushed up a tier because the bottom tiers ran out.

I mean how in the world is "Hex: Thrill of the Hunt", "Monitor and Abuse"(core on some killers but useless on the rest aka niche), "Agitation", and "Hex:Retribution" not all niche perks? Just to name a few.

Edit: Aka take the positions with a grain of salt due to perks being pushed up.

Agitation is very good, I would put it behind deadlock in his tier list. It counters :

    • survivors bodyblocking (will happen often at high mmr)
    • sabotage
    • secure pain resonance hooks
    • allow basement hooks (which are very strong)
    • combo with starstruck (for nurse)

    It’s very underrated.

As for noed being S tier, I am not surprised at all, my main build is noed + no way out giving me another full minute to kill them all while they are exposed. It’s very strong with tunneling also.

  • Nurse :

    • you can cancel fatigue of the second charged blink spamming m1. It’s hard to do but it’s still a thing.

    Pinhead :

    • use your chains at key moments because summoning them will make you slower. Survivors cannot dead hard when they have chains, and they will often underestimate how much time it takes to break them to reach a pallet. Punish the greed.
    • this killer is a good tunneler, survivors will have a very hard time solving the box 1vs3.

    Blight :

    • you can use rush to phase into a survivor trying to bodyblock for another survivor

  • @woundcowboy said:

This type of post is a perfect example of why we should be able to see MMR. This person is guaranteed at bottom ranks.

Then he is probably saying it’s easier to play on PC than console.

I am not sure what he is trying to say about Blight / Nurse. Probably something like pallets are useless against these killers.

First and foremost; in no way do I think wishing death, cancer, telling someone to kill themselves etc is acceptable. That's totally crossing the line.

That being said, you should expect a bit of sass for your play style. Even though camping/tunneling is technically not against the rules, it's incredibly annoying for a survivor to wait 10 minutes for a match only to be immediately tunneled out of the game. It's such a waste of time for them that it's natural they be irritated. To have the Killer then go "Victor was hungry" could be seen as adding salt to the wounds of a person who could only spectate an entire match who didn't get to play at all.

In your screenshots I dare say you seem to be baiting their frustration, then wondering why their messages get increasingly toxic.

I think the best way to avoid the ones taking it too far would be to either disable end game chat\ or at the very least don't engage them. It doesn't solve the greater problem, but at the very least, you don't have to see it anymore.

I said Victor was hungry because I was playing Twins. By the way in this game I did not tunneled only used Victor as bodyguard of the basement. But this strategy is already too much for them to handle and led to a mental breakdown when they wish cancer to strangers on the internet I guess.

Tunneling is fun because it means you are always chasing. I don’t want to play a gen patrolling simulator. I would rather have a game where I am chasing for 90% of the time and get only 1 kill than a game where I am chasing for 40% of the time patrolling 60% of the time and get 4k.

It seems that survivors that gen rush when a teamate is getting tunneled, wait for the whole end game collapse time at the gates for the killer to show up (I don’t ever show up, I break stuff instead) and then escape feel frustration and bitterness because they realize how boring it was to hold m1on a gen and not getting chased. DBD is about chasing / getting chase, so if you choose to hold m1 all game instead of saying hello to the killer it’s your choice, don’t unleash your frustration on the killer.

Looki live near west hollywood so ive seen the love and hatred often in its extremes. Please dont take my point as advocating it just that you are bound to stir up more trouble by asking for bans. Let me apologize for you being hurt it wasnt my intention for to dismiss that. Its just that when you typically silence these type of players you only end up infuriating them all the more and their attacks escalate the situation. So again my apologies i didnt mean to come off the wrong way.

Well, take Overwatch for example. If you are saying these kind of thing you will get reported and then if that's very often, you will have a first warning within 24h, then a season ban, then after multiple season bans a permanent ban. The result is that voicechat and textchat are very clean, when people are mad they leave textchat or voicechat.

Dead by Daylight is the only game where I see this kind of hatred speech. I am all for freedom of speech, but not in a video game where you little brother of 14 yo can play (despite the game being 18+, some do) and be exposed to this. As long as it is that common (because trust me, it is 1/2 game minimum I get death wishes) I will ask for a change.

  • @GuyFawx said:

Which if you havent gotten it is you as this is a mature rated game its bound to have some mature language from its audience.

Sure, if you are gay turn off chat and let the homophobic players own the place.

Another game with BBQ, Pain Resonance, Noed, No way out. Same strat tunnel someone and kill the rest with no way out / noed. They didn't last more than 3gen left. Also I forgot to mori anyone but it doesn't matter because it seems I should DIE because I have a gay flag on my hooks and I play nurse and blight. Yes, death is what I deserve it seems. Thanks DBD for your awesome moderation.

  • The problem with twins is that you are not playing the killer, but waiting during switching animation cooldown and victor stun. It's not fun.

  • It's nothing and won't affect the perk at all

  • They are not many killers so you get matched against good survivors because they are waiting a long time and you are the only killer available for them to toy with.

  • Since her nerf I didn’t play her once and not planning to. She became hot garbage.

I generally close all chats. But one day I opened it and saw that my teammate wishes me death 2 times because I didn't unhook them in the EGC. Tbh, I was not offended, but funny.

I really don't understand why they do it.

If I were these people who insulted you I'd write to you: "I hope you get tunnelled in your every game ❤️" or "Dear killer, I wish you get 4 SWF tryhards in your every game <3". I usually imagine killers and survivors as bots, but I also have bad days. You have the right to use dirty tactics, but other players have the right to say unpleasant things to you within the limits of what is permitted. If they upset you, close your chat and profile.

Btw, there are people who like salt. You can begin to enjoy ruining someone's game and collect salty massages. Why not? :)

Because I am not trying to ruin anyone game. I am simply playing the game. I am not here to collect any salt, just trying to win and do my objective as killer : kill the survivors.

The truth is : survivors hate loosing. They are 3 main strategies in DBD :

    • Hit multiples survivors to get many people injured and try to get downs fast enough so they don’t have time to rescue, heal and do generators at the sale time : this strategy is dead since the introduction of circle of healing. Now that any survivor can heal himself, you don’t have enough pressure.
    • Gen regression : again, with the introduction of circle of healing your totems will be cleansed extremely fast again good survivors. It’s not working anymore.
    • Snowball with starstruck : this strategy is strong on nurse, trying to get everyone exposed and down them all. But it is very stressful after a while because messing up 1 starstruck can be the difference between winning and loosing.
    • Endgame : with no way out + noed. This strategy is to tunnel 1 survivor and kill him fast. This guarantee at least 2k, and more if you can kill someone else before end game or if they fail to hide during no way out.

See all I am doing is evaluating my options and trying to win. I don’t have to receive insults or death threats for it, I am just playing the game. The goal of the killer is to kill the survivors, not babysit them and give a great time for everyone.

Facecamp leatherface is the best boon counter in the game. This guy has it down to a science; and I can confirm through independent testing that it does work like 95% of the time.

Yea like this dude, also if you add no way out it’s even stronger.

  • The counterplay is to tunnel + proxycamp. In this scenario, boons are not only useless but a waste of time for the survivor who bless it.

  • @JFF said:

First of all this is an issue on both sides, if someone is overly toxic, uses racial slurs, death threats, etc. Just report them. That's all you can at the moment. Another way how to avoid all of this is to turn off your chat, you're not forced in any way to use chat. If people insult you a lot and you feel offended, just don't use it, it's simple. Also if you seek admiration from other players in this game, I have bad news for you..

Second point, if you excessively target one player in multiple matches, be it facecamping, tunneling, it's considered as a griefing, which is also reportable offense. It depends on what kind of bodyblock you have on your mind, if you block someone in the corner, taking them hostage, it's also a bannable offense.

I don't seek admiration, I just don't want survivors to stop threaten me and my family. Also I don't display survivor names on in HUD.

    This. Exactly this.

The tribalistic double standards only breed more toxicity by witch-hunting a specific role for the same behavior the opposite role can have but goes unmentioned by OPs. And I'm not talking about this one OP in particular, but it's something that happens quite often on this forum.

Insults and harassment should be condemned and reported regardless of whatever role the player chooses to pick.

No, I don't ever play survivor so I can't speak for the survivor experience. What I know, after 600h of playing killer is that survivors feel rightful to insult and harass the killer when he uses a certain strategy. Maybe killers are toxic too, for other reasons I don't know them but I invite you to share them on this thread if you think it's a common issue.

  • This dude wants to be able to create a "final girl" build where he can loop the killer / rescue survivors all game and then, when everyone escaped, unhook himself and get out too.

Yea no, it’s not going to happen, if you are the last survivor, you die. You don’t deserve to get out because it’s a team game when you have to cooperate to win. The game balance is, if you want a 4 man escape if you have to play as a team. That’s why circle of healing is so hated too, it makes every survivor independent, survivors strength should reside in team work, not selfish plays.

Just because I'm competitive doesn't mean I dont want to have fun, I can have fun in other games even in a high level setting.

DBD doesn't really give me the choice in how to play if I want to do well in the games standard, I have no issue getting that "2k" they're balancing for.

I know how to play, 5 years experience at a high level I know pretty much everything there is to know but that dont mean I can play in a way I want (which is actually fun for everyone) and not be punished. This isnt including being screwed by RNG or something else

But are you really at high level ? High mmr survivor don’t really complain about tunneling / slugging / camping. They know it’s part of the game and one of many strategies available for the killer. When they bring offerings, metaperk , god tier items ready to slam gens, they expect to get tunnel, slug or camp if necessary. A lot of them have some experience playing killer themselves.

It’s more low - medium mmr survivor that complain in the end game chat and find excuses.

  • Tink is overrated. It’s very easy to know when to killer has it and play around it.

Is that the meta excuse? Just protecting myself from DDoS, cuh! Imma start using that one, if you don't mind.

Also the game is better looking that way.

  • We have to protect ourselves from ddos. If you are good play around pallets and dead hard.

  • I main Nurse and Blight and ignore every other killer. I also tunnel and camp if needed, and it's gg.

Just don't say gg after please, thats all I want.

I always say gg no matter what.

  • So he was playing nice for his viewers and did a challenge when he sweats and tunnels / camp without apologizing every 2 seconds ?

And you are surprised he wins ? Not to mention he was facing potatoes ? Lol.

  • We don’t know what is mmr is. It’s hidden. If his survivors are weak, the most logical explanation is that his mmr is not that high.

I would rather not share this because it can be exploited by players on the killer side (and by players on the survivor side to lock killers into certain animations).

If you are interested in conducting tests yourself, I suggest you find a fellow player from a far-away region from yours, and then whoever of you two hosts the custom match will have a low latency due to connecting to nearby servers, and the player joining the match a high latency, due to connecting to that far-away server. Alternatively, a VPN can be used to reroute data around the world. I did some of the testing using those methods as well.

Oh I already tried with a VPN and severals softwares to see if we had the same results I was just curious to know what you personally use for this experiment.

I found that using your power on most killers is a nightmare when you have latency. Can you explain why ?

If latency is so strong for killers, why is it not a thing like stretched res ?

There are two possibilities for Otz that I see. The first is that Otz spends eight hours streaming, another 8 hours playing anonymously to tank MMR, doesn't completely burn out for some reason, fits sleeping and all daily life activities into eight hours and still can get survivors with thousands and thousands of hours in matches for some reason.

The second possibility for strange match ups is that SBMM isn't working as intended.

Imo, I think the second sounds a lot more likely.

They are others possibilities to lower your mmr without playing yourself (or anyone playing) but again that's not the point of this thread and making the promotion of it is against the rules so please stop using this argument.

  • What did you use to simulate latency ?
