Separate teams, separate problems. It's the same as asking the Cosmetic Team to fix tunneling or cheaters or whatever, it just doesn't work. Game Designers for Killers are not the same as Devs who are responsible for Balancing and Game Health.

What is DIY Tech and Trophy mean? You're speaking a foreign language to me lol
DIY Tech in my mind most likely means she can craft things related to her drones and tracker at workbenches like in her trailer at her base in Shelter Woods. Which, like Trickster's Style rework, would add a new layer of depth to her that I think would be fun to mess with.
Trophies, in my mind, means making her Killer title more literal: The Skull Merchant. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a mini-mori situation where you can take Skulls from Survs and use them to boost/modify/increase Drone capacity.

No literally. Use one of the 80 pallets on each map that can be picked up/rebuilt or use the timed flashbangs via Torchbearer or the beamer. Nerfing Nemesis and not touching anything annoying on the Surv side (AoE SB) would be a bafflingly bad choice from BHVR.

I wonder if the SB nerf will affect the 2v8 one
Only change I want on Oni is his controls in his power reverted I'd be okay with him getting it all the time if he wasn't so easy to land hits with in 2v8 in power. They just read awful in 2v8.God, I hope so. We can only wait and see.

Oni is the only killer I enjoy playing in that mode…
With a few other exceptions: ditto. This forum will disagree and show that via downvotes but every lobby without fail has 3+ Sprint Burst classes as well as 4-5 other classes but my point is that on command AoE Sprint Burst on a microscopic timer is genuinely one of the most aggravating pain points for 2v8 for most Killer players. Hence why Oni, even after the nerfs, is a popular pick. He sees your on command Sprint Burst and goes "lol, lmao"
I'd be 100% okay with further nerfing Kazan IF, and only IF, the Sprint Burst class gets retuned/nerfed.

What's your experience been like playing her? Do you feel like the skin is worth the price?Waiting on a sale personally, the one-two-THREE punch of Facemelter Eddie, Hinako, and Glenn is awesome from a content standpoint but my wallet could only stomach one of the three in a month window and we desperately need more Music related skins so my pick was easy.
Regardless, she is awesome and it is a bummer she lacks VLs but most Legendaries do so I don't mind.

Nah, those people are propaganding their opinion based on their personal greed.
Yknow with the way you throw that word around, can I ask a favor? Can you show me ONE post from prior years anniversary events where someone, ONE PERSON, complained that they received TOO MANY cakes. Please, I am dying to see it.
There is NOTHING greedy about wanting the Cake rarity and frequency to stay the same as it has for the last 8 years.

@Yamalive said:
Review bombing over something like cakes is such a childish behaviour and is just contradicting its initial use. And all the people still complaining after they increased the cake gain within a day are just greedy people who cant get enough. Its fine now, so you could stop claiming otherwise.

Its just greed. Just because you got too much out of it before you think its fine to get too much again.
I love how you think a made-up progression economy that is strictly for rewarding players who put time and energy in (something I've done for roughly 8.5k hours now since '16) is somehow worth defending the multibillion-dollar corporation over. You're the type of guy who gets a free dessert at a restaurant on your birthday and pitches a fit and demands they send it back. You're the type of guy who sees someone help an old lady across the road, and your reaction is to hate how performative and narcissistic the person helping is.
I think I have at least one more in me, gimme a second…
You're the type of guy who sides with the Developers of a game for the 10 Year Anniversary Celebration (a number that was ONLY reached because people put up with the mess that is DbD) and want LESS content and LESS rewards during a time of CELEBRATION because of… Greed. You think a funny, little shareable offering between Killer and Survivor that encourages a good time, win or lose, is something worth implementing artificial scarcity over. You are the entire circus.

I remember in the past having bloodwebs with 2-3 cakes in them and now for the big 10 year anniversary we get like 1 cake like every 2-3 levels...
It's one thing that half the community doesn't enjoy the event because killers get like nothing but to screw over new and old players afterwards with the extreme grind is just sad.
It's not, IIRC one event item per web used to be guaranteed. The fact that they have ratcheted that back to whatever the hell THIS is is just so unbearably disappointing.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Most of us remember how flush prior years events were so although the change that dropped today is good it pales in comparison to how many we got with basically zero effort in prior events. It was such a good feeling to stock up on a couple thousand or more cakes and see who you'll be playing in the coming year. Now, I'll be super lucky if I can get 700 total in the next 3 weeks.

Why should I play a character with no BPS or cakes when I could play one of my characters that has a surplus from when BHVR wasn't being… Oh, what's the word… GREEDY.

So why are you allowing such a significant nerf to be a nonissue to you? In year 8 I put around three prestiges into Vecna and I've been living off of the 200+ Cobblers I got from those three prestiges alone. Now? I'd have to shell out 6-8 prestiges to even HOPE I'd crack 200+ Tortes.

More data sourced on cakes. Using the auto-spend feature netted 20 cakes for survivor, and 26 for killer.
On average, 1 prestige level (50 levels) cost 1.1 million BP.Still, just a drop in the ocean when compared to previous years, when getting over 100 cakes per prestige was the norm.
Aggravating, it should be a common offering or they should do a little more than "slightly" bump the rates up. I don't understand the need or desire to artificially limit the spawn rate when its purely BP gains.
-
It's something, would love the rarity to be adjusted for an actual surplus to be achieved but… It's something.

@Raino said:
I didn't play the game during last year anniversary and I was actually looking forward to this event together with my friends. The cakes situation simply made me close the game upon spending part of my points to see the abysmal drop rate and not open it until it's hopefully fixed.
I hope my stubbornness actually pays off (since I might have used 10 mln bloodpoints code before together with my friends and now we are sitting on a lot of bloodpoints unsure whatever it's worth to wait or just spend what we have and give up on the event). If we are to get significant cake drop rate boost I honestly don't even mind waiting a week (I do) as long as I can get actual cake value of out the bloodpoints.
Can anyone tell me how long it took for them to fix the cakes in the past or at least acknowledge the actual problem itself and say they will fix it (not investigating/looking into it message but actual statement on their stance/plans)?
Same boat as you, it'll be annoying to wait until Tuesday (or God forbid longer) but I'm willing to do it if the Cakes we so desperately need and deserve for keeping this Spaghetti Monster of a game afloat for 10 years return to normal rarity and abundant spawn rate.

i dont think that's what unicorn meant.
however while i can agree that the character development is a little lacking with shane, native design on modern flare is something that does exist and i think his casual tone is fine. someone can be a representation of their culture without being super thematic about it. you see it in other cultures as well.
plus, since he just released, more information about him will come out the longer he's in the game. the backstory is just the starting point.
subtle reminder to everyone else to please keep the topic on the thread/op. id really hate for this thread to get locked or people getting punished when it's a good teaching opportunity for all parties. i want this to be constructive
I really have no idea how else to interpret a comment that blatantly asks for our one and only Indigenous character to be subtle and not a "symbol" despite him being a great opportunity to highlight the importance of heritage and Indigenous customs and culture. He is not a cardboard standee that has the words "this is an Indigenous person" on it and nothing else. I agree, let's not get this thread locked, but I think it's WILD to basically ask, point-blank, for Shane to basically show no connection to his Anishinaabe heritage because "there's zero subtlety or depth in presenting it that way. It reads as inhuman". That just feels wrong.

For people doing DbD levelling in the event.
You CAN get cakes randomly in blood webs but only via auto spend. So the best way to do it is auto level to the levels there are set cakes
3, 5, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 42, 45, and 50.
Then you get the 14 and a chance to get them randomly on your way to the set onesThank you for the advice! Still hate how greedy BHVR is with this event, actually baffling how awful the Cake spawn rates are.

His clothes (not the traditional ones) look like drip with tribal symbols. It doesn't make me take him very seriously. I'd have the same opinion if Orela wore a trans flag hoodie or if Claudette wore jeans with an Autism Speaks patch. There's nothing wrong with them being diverse—it's that there's zero subtlety or depth in presenting it that way. It reads as inhuman.
So yeah, I think I'm done arguing with you. How dare you call someone who is representing their tribe and their culture by wearing clothing with a specific design as inhuman?

Seems to me that they really want to get away with this nonsensical greed. There's genuinely nothing for them to gain by limiting cake... Besides terrible PR and an upset community at the absolute worst time for it. It's entirely illogical to let this go on and not increase the drop chance, there's too many characters to level not to mention the BP cap which shouldn't exist in the first place. I refuse to believe that anni cakes are going to make any significant change in player levels across the community. At the very least I'd like to hear a real good explanation from BHVr as to why they feel it necessary to limit cake beyond (paraphrasing here) "We don't want people to have tons of them after the event" we know, we heard you but WHY?
It truly is aggravating because I've had Dustin and Eleven and Tae-Young all at P6 with the sole intent of getting them to P10 this anniversary to bank Cakes on them as an INCENTIVE to play them more. Now, I am starting my next P100 early because Cakes are irrelevant on a character that'll ultimately get at least 150+ BPS. It's a free currency that is strictly for progression and we have dozens upon dozens of characters. Why do we feel the need to make the grind WORSE? ESPECIALLY during the 10th year celebration?
-
@UnicornMedal said:

No offense, but that only makes me feel more that he's a symbol and not a person.
Would you rather he dress and sound like a white guy who has no pride in his background/heritage? I hate putting words in peoples mouths but I TRULY struggle to see what you would've wanted our first Indigenous rep to look like. He's not a stereotype, caricature, or symbol. He is a fully realized character that just so happens to be Indigenous and proud of that fact, all the while, avoiding any sort of whitewashing.
-
Give it up for 26.5 hours since the event launched and we still have NOTHING meaningful or tangible from BHVR.
We are so past the need of "We're investigating the awful, greedy, shrinkflating decision we made regarding Cakes… Stay Tuned!"
Please, just change the rarity and bump up the frequency. Each day that this goes on for is another day of increasingly more livid players.
-
@UnicornMedal said:
So far—and someone can correct me if I'm wrong—he's the only character with a notable character trait that is that blatant. You can generally tell a lot about the characters based on their appearance or their body language. Shane already presents as a Native American, but then he wears the iconography on all of his pieces like it's a designer brand. 😭 I don't find it offensive at all, but it's overkill and makes him feel two-dimensional. You immediately view him as a symbol and not as a person.
He's Indigenous and grew up in an Indigenous community… He is going to look and present in ways that reflect that. I recommend you watch Reservation Dogs not just because Shane's VA Dallas Goldtooth is in it but because it shows you a specific look at youth culture among a specific Indigenous community. I see nothing wrong with Shane or his portrayal, dude is sick.

Before starting - for the record I have loved this game so much and am so sad to have to even say any of this.
Why have BHVR chosen to reward us (for the 10th anniversary celebrations) with a NERF? For 9 years this game had massive amounts of anniversary offerings, med-kits, toolboxes and flashlights for every birthday event. What have they given us this year? They decided to significantly reduced the amount you can get. This is a huge nerf to the main reason many of us play anniversary events in the first place. It's bad enough that this years event is already so unbalanced, we're all wondering why they would release something this one sided. Balance has been one of the biggest points of conversation throughout DbD's life and yet for it's 10th anniversary, they released an event this tone deaf. It's almost like they haven't been listening at all. This is a massive disappointment as I know I'm not the only one who had this event noted on their calendar.
It's really sad that what should have been a celebration has resulted in so many of us feeling completely ignored and letdown, but hey, happy 10th birthday DbD… to hell with the players who got you here.
Here before the thread gets locked but… We are going on 26+ hours of the event and basically no meaningful communication or "Yikes, you're right, guys, this is pretty ugly. We'll fix this in XYZ amount of time!".
Your "we are investigating reports of Torte spawn frequency" bores me and shows me that you do not care about why we are all so pissed about this.

I am not aware of any issues of cakes in the bloodweb, only Bloodweb Errors from earlier.
Not even close to appropriate for the 10th Year Celebration of DBD. It needs to be a common addon like all the others ASAP. This cannot go past today. This is WRONG.
-
Whatever BHVR says to make themselves feel better is all that matters. If the bug is fixed, we'll all be happy.
-
Bumping from Common to Very Rare is mindbogglingly dumb. "Oh no our BP economy will be oversaturated with Tortes this year!" GOOD! Aside from that Jason is pretty balanced he just doesn't get punished for playing bad. I do however think we should keep going towards add-ons like Jasons, Vecna 2.0s, and Pyramid Heads, as most if not all are fun to use and strong in their own way allowing for more builds and variety in the long run.
(Anybody know why Jason gets haste btw?)
Hiding against Jason has historically led to awful results in the movies. Him seeing you doing actions or being inactive (lockers) is completely in character and by no means the strongest part of his kit.

That’s mainly what I want to talk about here so if you just have a license that is just you know way too out there go right ahead and say it I don’t judge. I wanted Godzilla in for a long time. And honestly, I still Kinda do. ( primarily either Shin or Minus one Godzilla)

Given we know the new Mall map was described as "liminal" multiple times by Dave Richard, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mall is inspired by The Oldest View, Kane Parson's sister series to the Backrooms. BHVR clearly knows what is in right now and them doing a liminal map half a year after Backrooms broke box office records is absolutely intentional.
The real question is, will they double dip and get Parsons' to sign on for a cosmetic collab/Chapter? I'd love to see Pirate Clark in DBD in some capacity, easily one of my favorite monster designs in the last 4-5 years.

… Right having access to a fully charged hatched all the time at a much faster rate is totally not great for zoning and being 115 movement speed also totally does not make it easier and less skill based than huntress. I don't think I'm capable of making an argument you like so hope you have a good day.
Lmfao, it's about a third the size of a hatchet and that is a pro and a con. Dodging the spike isn't some Herculean feat that cannot be done multiple times in a chase against a good Jason. His speed is also conditional and if he enters OE to replenish a spike and get the speed back, you can make insane distance if you crouch at the right time and psyche him out.
It has been three days, please for the love of God try to get better and not ask BHVR to bend the game to your will.

The killer animations have been great for a long time, so I'm really not sure what happened with Jason. They're better than the PTB and I haven't been put off by his animations like I was during the PTB, but yes, the animations aren't on the same level as Springtrap or Unknown. Given that we have Art coming in the next 5 months, I surely hope that for a mute character that is ALL about the way his body moves and the faces he makes, they have some elite animators on board to make him flawless.
Jason being stiff is fine, it's Jason.
