Ah yes, the overpowered, lemme check my notes… 4 second window block… Which you can negate by running around the loop as he spawns in loudly. I'm of the opinion that Jason is close to perfect, a few tweaks to prevent tunneling off hook would be nice, but people who are seething over him remind me why Kaneki is this forums favorite dead horse to beat.

I'm not mad about it per se, but hot take:
Terrifier is technically impressive gore porn with a generic clown mask thrown on it. I've seen the movies, and the practical effects are genuinely impressive and creative, but Art himself has all the personality of a mayonnaise sandwich. He's just a vehicle. That entire franchise is built on the kills, because there isn't anything else of note there.https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4088076#Comment_4088076
Not really liking Art and being disappointed that Pennywise isn't coming can be mutually exclusive.
If people are huge Art the Clown fans, I'm happy for them, but I'd just have preferred this licensing opportunity were used on a number of other IPs and I personally never expected Pennywise and will continue not to.David Howard Thornton is a genuine master of silent clownery, I will not tolerate DHT slander.

Watch him pull out the Tommy Gun when all generators gets repaired.
I would cry, I know BHVR is very careful about firearms in DBD but I genuinely think Art with his pistol and one bullet would be more than enough for extra dramatic flair.
-
I'm so excited for this next Year of DBD and I genuinely love basically every addition for Year 11, The Champion I imagine will come with some sort of Camcorder recording ability like in TCOFS to stop him from killing the playable characters.

@AssortedSorting said:
My only reason against Art being in DBD is that he's mostly already in it, were practical VFX more of a point to be included. And that's just a technicality. Goreporn (VFX and their complexity) would be like a 45s Mori (and redundant computationally), that's not usually competitive at all (aside from promotions).
I'm not really against him being included, just hope the kit is interesting.
(sales are sales though, plastering Art's face onto a character with some gameplay may be/is likely beneficial to both parties)
Based on the Slasher Radio interview, Art will have entirely new mechanics tied to him, will have a new height of gore depicted, and will have some form of his bag of tricks (the exact nature is TBA). All and all, this is completely spot-on with how I and many Terrifier fans wanted him to function in DBD. He's gonna be a dream.
-
@Smoe said:
Art's power according to Slasher Radio's post-anniversary interview with Mathieu Cote, will be brand new and will involve something around Art having different tools. His gore and mori is also stated to go beyond what we already have in the game.
Bag of tricks, baby, never bet against Art and his good ol' trashbag of barbarity.

Thats not really scraping the bottom of the barrel though, you just made a very long yet still incomplete list. Yeah, the very huge names may be done but that doesnt really matter, and we could still see second chapters of existing chapters just like Resident Evil already showed.
Also they started to branch of from strictly Horror to horror-adjacent to Nicolas Cage so everything goes.
Also completely sidestepping stuff like Pearl and Maxine from the X trilogy, Horror is alive and well.
-
Sienna Shaw is the best final girl of the modern horror era next to maybe Maxine Minx from the X trilogy. She will 100% be included if Damien Leone knows why people love T2 and T3.

Words genuinely can’t describe how happy I am that we are finally getting a Terrifier chapter in DBD. I got home at 9:30 so I to watch the stream after it already ended and almost everything there I was excited for, especially that graphics update so I can’t wait to turn my PS5 into a stove top when that comes out. But to top it all off the amount of joy I had when I saw that clown is immeasurable. Thank you papa DBD, y’all’s made my night.
As a huge Terrifier and huge Clown fan (not Kenneth, just in general), this is something that actually sent me flying off my couch. If any of you were fortunate to go to 2025's Halloween Horror Nights, you know FULLY why Art the Clown is such an incredible modern horror icon. Regardless of how you feel about the series, the very real criticisms of the first movie specifically, Art the Clown played by the incredible DHT is simply that guy so having him join us and bring a new level of spectacle this November is a genuine treat.
Also you know fully what will come this Holiday Season…

This power is so easy to dodge; if a survivor makes a sudden movement, like a sudden 180-degree turn, you simply don't have time to react. Hitting with this ability is harder than hitting with Huntress's sniper axe or Weskwr's hug tech. Assuming I play 50 matches a day, it can probably only hit in one match, and only once in that match. So I'd like to ask how to make the undergate attack easier to land.
The trick is to completely give up on consistently hitting the Undergate Attack and prioritize using Pizza Goggles. Night and Day difference for me when playing Henry, it's a shame its his only addon aside from the Iri addon that changes his playstyle drastically, but good lord does it feel good to have map mobility as a 110% killer.

Watch people complain about different outfit of the same skin costs like legendary...
I mean that is a genuine issue but the Attack Titan bundle, as unsavory as the skin in general is, is technically a solution since it discounts the price of the individual skins if you own one already or want to get both.
-
Given the fact that we have Deep Rift Soma and True Form Drac + the Attack Titan bundle, it shows BHVR is capable of releasing multiple of the same Legendary character. I'm hopeful that part of the 10 Year Celebration is a reconfirm that we will be getting more.

Given how prominently Amanda is featured in the 10th Anniversary Art, the new YouTooz that doesn't ship til end of year, and the love BHVR and Lionsgate have each other (plus James Wan via Blumhouse), I highly, HIGHLY doubt she'll be leaving the Fog.

To be perfectly serious for a second, huge kudos to BHVR for that trailer, that was delightfully morbid and sets a stupid high precedent for the Black Banquet. Please, do not stop being sick and twisted, thank you.

Xeno, echoing what @not_Queef said above, there's nothing that feels distinctly Alien outside the visual design of the tunnels when playing Xeno. I get the intention behind the power design but it really, really feels off. Plus getting ganked by 2 turrets during a crucial chase feels so awful.

I don't think we can. This Jason can't even have his Voorhees surname apparently.
He can, but not in overt marketing. He's called Jason Voorhees in the press release but only Jason ingame because of the Chapter title. It's the same Jason from the films but its just intentionally obfuscated for legal reasons. Per example, his addons reference a variety of iconic kills from the movies with basically no margin for misinterpretation.

idk if this was ever asked before but i felt like i needed to.
both five nights at Freddy's and Jason are long awaited and probably the two most requested licenses in the game's history. yet when they finally arrive we get huntress but with axe and huntress but with a metal spear.
i know people will argue that these powers aren't similar and that X killer does this and Y killer does that. but in the general picture these powers seem really close and way too safe in design.
for some time i thought bhvr was running out of good killer power ideas but we just recently got the first and soon getting the judgment which made me think bhvr still got it in them but then we get jason and we go back to same old same old dash/range design area. why??
Springtrap axe is a bit understandable since he doesn't really have a power in the games (i think) outside fan made ideas but the cameras could have been such a fun and unique mechanic however they barely offer anything meaningful to Springtrap outside of teleportation which is inconsistent on many maps especially indoors due to their spawn logic and for survivors they have no reason to interact with them.
and now Jason who's known to use a multitude of different weapons to kill people in creative ways just gets a spear and the other weapons are left to his mori, again why??? after 10 years of dbd a step up in power designs is to be expected but this isn't it and it's a bit of a let down (except his teleportation it's awesome).
just wanted to rant a little and see what you guys think.
For Afton, Scott is known to be a somewhat difficult person to work with given that he is effectively the only person responsible for FNAF's success other than YouTubers who gave the game a shot. I don't think Afton is flawed, I think he deserves buffs to the doors and their efficacy and essentialness but its not a bad idea at all. The axe is a nod to fan theories and fan content, Scott has historically loved to include those aspects of the FNAF community into official work.
Jason, however, is a jumbled confusing mess from a licensing standpoint and the lack of CCL and Pamela and Tommy being mentioned overtly is most likely due to said mess. HOWEVER, the idea of versatility, brutal kills, and being everywhere at all times is fundamental to his identity as a Slasher and no matter how much people whine that he's simply X,Y,Z killers blended together (aka half the cast added in the last 5 years), they accurately portrayed his personality and mannerisms through the power they cooked up. It deserves tweaks, bug fixes, and maybe a QOL buff or two but on paper, its great and its 100% Jason Voorhees.

@dbd900bach said:
Not really. Trickster is somewhat in his own little corner that isn't easily compared to other killers. He's projectile killer, but thats where the similarities end.
Technically, Trickster is actually more lethal than Jason with a much faster TTK provided he hits all of his knives and reaches B - S rank. He's also far more lethal at shorter loops with no line of sight blockers. You could even make the argument that Jason's projectile is weaker because he actually gives the survivor more distance in open areas since they're pushed so far back.
The actual big difference that makes Jason better is map mobility. A killer with mobility will always outclass a killer that has none like Trickster.
Basically Jason isn't a good comparison to judge whether or not Trickster needs buffs. Trickster does need changes, but not in the spirit of being stronger. He's miserable for survivors to go against, so thats where changes should be made, so both sides have fun. Thats never going to happen but its a better perspective than playing the comparison game to push changes.
The bold and polarizing take: Trickster should be nerfed so Survivors don't have to deal with a slow as bricks, loud as hell, ranged killer that needs 6 hits within 3-5 business days to deal damage. Not every Trickster is Wacek, my friend.

In my opinion it's an inclusion so overdue its hard to get hyped for it, I feel like Jason doesn't fit modern DBD Dashslop ADHD killer gameplay so I see his inclusion going one of two ways:
1. They don't give him a dash/anti-loop and he's not played because he doesn't autowin
2. They give him a dash/anti-loop and he becomes Ghoul 2.0 and gets a bad rep because of it
Neither would do the character justice imo. He should've came out ages ago.BHVR has wanted him for years and have on record said they have plenty of thoughts on his power design. It is not their fault he's overdue, he was unobtainable for most of this game's lifespan. He's going to be a great killer, I truly and wholeheartedly believe they wouldn't botch him after 10 years of concepting.

Here it is. The game is 10 years old. A massive milestone and we get….MAN WITH MACHETE
Now i get it. Jason is a big license and an iconic horror character but does that mean he is a good fit for the Dead by Daylight video game. In my opinion it does not.
Firstly we don't need another M1 killer and from what i understand this is all Jason is. According to his lore he has superhuman strength, regeneration abilities, near immortal and according to speculation teleportation but that is just because he always seems to be there. None of these equats to a power of sorts apart from teleportation
On top of this from what I have read the license is for Jason only not the friday the 13th franchise meaning its very unlikely we are going to get a new map and no new survivor. (I may be wrong this is based on what i have read online correct me if im wrong please)
Why, for such a huge milestone in a game, are we getting basicly nothing?
Now im not saying Jason shouldn't be in the game completely. I think it would have made more sense to make the Jason license a legendary cosmetic for Trapper because trapper was based off Jason and it would have been a great tie in.
Overall im dissapointed. There are so many chapters that could come to this game but it seems that unless its ye olde horror then its not considered which is a shame. Realisticly the moment that characters like Lara Croft and Trickster were added to the game it stopped being about horror (yes i get trickster could be seen as horror but he is just a kpop star). And lets not forget Nicholas Cage that iconic horror survivor that he is XDHow does everyone else feel about this announcement? I will be curious to see what others think however i will say no hate towards anyones point of view. If your hyped for Jason then thats great everyone has their opinions so lets keep it civil in the comments :)
If your super hyped that Jason is coming to DBD please explain why. I would be curious to see the reasons. Is it just because its Jason or is there something else.
Not even gonna bother to read this low-effort rage bait. You don't get to call the King of Slashers, the main inspiration for the Poster Boy of DBD, a disappointment and just "a man with machete".
Michael is a angsty 19 year old with a knife. Bubba has family issues and a chainsaw. Ghost Face is just a guy with a knife. Spirit is just a ghost. Unknown is just a homunculus.
See how reductive and lame you can make any killer sound by deliberately obfuscating their identity? Get over yourself, OP, and let our boy thrive in the Fog after 10 Years of an open invitation to join.

It’s not about “being owed”
It’s about being mindful of people’s time and the individuals that have to work on the weekends like I am doing right now. Pulling a double.
If they have broken it up, that would’ve been neat too.
I am actively at work right now. It's a CCTV style video that was meant to build anticipation until the 13th hour, after weeks of 13 second teasers. You are allowed to have an opinion but I think the entire concept of this teaser was really unique and fun and fitting for the King of Slashers.
You're seriously telling it wans't worth it to see the Unknown attempt to jumpscare Jason, realize its out of its league, and skitter off? The average DBD player was never, ever expected to watch the entire 13 hours of this.
-
You weren't forced to watch the entire thing. I went to bed after a couple hours because I knew it wasn't ending anytime soon. I woke up to Jason and a cool breakdown of the easter eggs. You are owed nothing.

Major agree it was a great reward getting S Rank with cut thru you addon but they got rid of it for no good reason
Literally zero excuse too. It felt great on the PTB and Trickster mains and experts didn't have anything damning to say about it either. Utterly bizarre.
-
They had a solution to this and were way too scared to let it come to live: Cut Thru U single.
Reward Trickster for gaining style by giving him itty bitty incremental speed increases. 5% extra at S rank is completely fine given how much you have to work to get there, objectively no different or more harmful than Oni's kit. Plus, at the rate that Style decays, a percentage point or two of extra speed in a loop you can't throw over does wonders.
As a newgen Trickster main who is inches away from the P100 finish line, my biggest gripe with him really is how bad the movespeed feels against pre-running alongside the huge lullaby.
-
I think he's overtuned for sure but he's genuinely one of two if maybe three killers in 2v8 who can keep up with the 4 Escapist Meta currently. Buff Trapper, PH, Spirit, and Ghost Face and add some of the nerfs you suggested and increase the cooldown on the AOE sprint burst and I truly think we'd be in a good place.
-
I like Scott, he has good takes most of the time. He is dead wrong about Jason and he even admitted the only film he's seen is F13pt2 and then some clips here and there. He also said that the F13 game did a good job but said that if BHVR were to copy them it would be lame. I don't agree with that. Jason has been shown in other media (MKX) to teleport through the mist and fog and use various weapons which would make him a very unique addition to the game.
I trust BHVR on this one, there's no reason they wouldn't do a good job with him.

I feel it's also because the survivor animations and models for Licensed characters are more often than not unappealing, Claire Redfield's hands are still broken, when you point as her she has claw hands etc. Not to mention shoulders still collapse and dislocate despite being "fixed".
Leon with his perfectly circular open mouth and vacant lifeless stare, another character people would love to play as but just looks really wierd in the game. If they put half the effort into what they do for Killer designs people would be really happy to play as their fav horror icons.
Also I'd like to point out Heather (Cheryl) is so busted looking they wouldn't even use her against her own killer. Yet for some reason used Legally distinct ripley for Xenomorph. In defense of Ellen "not Sigourney" Ripley, they're using the comic likeness sorta because of the way Weaver feels IRL about violent video games IIRC. It's unfortunate but I'll take whatever Final Girl rep we can get.

Literally this. The Survivor role is a huge part of DBD but it effectively plays the same sans perk variation. The variety and uniqueness of DBD (for the most part) is who the Killer is and what map you're on. As much as I'd love to see Alan and Ash rub shoulders with Adam, Haddie, and Taurie, the visual design and clarity of the Killers with unique artists per drawing is so much more interesting.
Not everything is Us Vs. Them, OP.

I mean, that wouldnt work in the modern meta due to heavy gen regression.
If you demand survivors to interact with killer powers, then you need to demand killers to interact with gens to regress them tooI'm not following. How is this any different than Plague fountains, Sadako's tapes, Amanda's Boxes, Vecna's chests, Freddy's Clocks, etc etc etc etc?
This would be a risk/reward play that lets Survivors choose whether or not they want to let Afton get more powerful via stealth in favor of forgoing gens for 10ish seconds. People already don't cleanse Hex: Plaything or cleanse against Plague, this is such a nonissue killer buff that would not pull Survs from gens long enough to make a meaningful dent in progression. You're being belligerent and ignorant. Gothic Horror is a very real genre and has been popular for, oh yknow, 262 years since the first gothic horror novel was written. The entire concept of Count Dracula is gothic horror. Every single incarnation of the character has been some form of gothic horror.
Please go be loud and wrong elsewhere.

Castlevania as a franchise is classified as gothic horror. Something not excluded from the 2D games in the series, since those are also horror theme'd.
D&D is literally whatever people want it to be. It's a tool for storytelling, which people can use to tell any kind of story, within any genre, which includes horror.
People are allowed to not want Star Wars in the game if they don't want it. This isn't a black and white ''If you accept one thing, you must accept everything'' thing.
Staple this to the top of the thread and shut the whole thread down.

And lets not even talk about the fact that the most popular killer in the game isn't even from a horror franchise (Ghoul).

I was playing the Castlevania games as a six year old. They're not scary. They're adventure games first. There is no horror. My point is BHVR has already opened the floodgates. So what's the point of gatekeeping?
Horror =/= Scary. As a child I got scared by the Hash Slinging Slasher from good ol' Bob l'éponge. Does he fit in DBD? By your scale he does because I got the willies.
People make this mistake over and over and over and then try to use it as ammunition as to why we deserve stuff like Star Wars in the Hall of Fame of Horror. Castlevania is a platformer action adventure game series that is all dressed in gothic horror and had more horror focused spin offs. Star Wars is a space opera designed to sell toys.

It's the concept. People cry about tbagging all the time and now there's an anti-BMing aspect to a killer. Meanwhile, we can't get any meaningful anti-slug, tunnel, or camp. And this killer is also free to hump and hit on hook to their heart's content. I almost never BM but nothing is going to inspire me more to do so than going against this soft killer.
"Going against this soft killer"
I think the only one soft here is you for getting this tilted over a joke power concept that will be useless 9/10 games. It's purely for in-game flavor. Divine Killer whose power afflicts sin that then punishes what the community jokingly considers "sinful" behavior is hilarious. You're behaving like t-bagging the Judgment will cause the game to ban you and lecture you as to why what you did was naughty. I swear if BHVR cans this mechanic because of Surv whining I will be floored.
-
If we couldn't even get a new skin for Steve, Demo, and a proper Nancy skin (I love Robin but yk what I mean), I doubt Netflix is gonna be that much more generous that what we already have.
As a P100 Steve, my first true surv main, not having his War outfit, his brown Wrangler jacket, his shirtless look, etc etc etc, it is all so exhausting. Also his face needs a fresh coat of paint and don't get me started on Jonathan.

Vader fits more into DBD than Nick Cage, Lara Croft, and Castlevania. BHVR has let plenty of non-horror franchises into the game. Make me understand the sudden gate keeping.
Cage is a well known horror actor and a gag license so I'll concede there. Lara Croft from the remake trilogy is specifically Lara at her most Survival Horror. The same game has a Legendary character from Rainbow Six so Lara at her weakest is A-OK.
Castlevania is horror adventure. It is literally about Dracula and a bloodline of vampire hunters. Does it have to be a jumpscare horror game to get a pass? Castlevania gave us by the far the best interpretation of Vlad we could've gotten so I'll hear no nonsense about it not fitting.

I think most people get why the vibe is off here. Star Wars isn't just kiddie and not horror, it's next to Marvel as one of the world's most soulless, cash grabby franchises. Vecna works because DnD is still kinda of a niche, nerd thing. Most people probably didn't know who he was before he was added (or before Stranger Things). Star Wars comes with tons of corporate baggage and pre-determined feelings, much of which centers around cutsy stuff like jokey robots and baby aliens.
You're getting downvoted for the truth. Naysayers prove me wrong: is modern Star Wars not one of the most soulless, corporate, overhyped, and underwhelming properties ever? You seriously want DBD to have a degree or two of separation from the Sequel Trilogy, all the crappy Disney + shows, and the new Mando film that seems to appeal to strictly children and winemoms?
