I am sorry that people had to see those images, it's why we took the decision to prevent images being posted temporarily. Now the temporary part of that is going to be overnight EU times and over weekends - during daytime EU hours, the forum will operate as normally (as you can see I've removed the message for the moment).
I know this is difficult for those that liked to post memes and art etc but this is a decision that we had to take.

Oh well, I guess only the players from the dark times of perma sabo remember this feature. Back then it was definetly helpful in many situations. Not so much now.
But really, do so little people know wiggle regresses while downed? Wow –l I feel old lol.
I think because it's such a small regression that a lot of people didn't even know about it

Can you please clarify if this change is only while being carried by the killer, or also while slugged?
it's both - so when you're not wiggling your wiggle bar will not decrease.
This does not affect your recovery bar whilst slugged which is separate anyway.
-
The numbers were pretty small, I'm afraid I don't know them exactly...it was such a strange thing to happen really as wiggle progress had no reason to regress when you were slugged for example as the two bars are independent of each other.

Oh wait really? damn thought i heard somewhere it was just for bugs.
we call them hotfixes or bugfix patches but they're still considered to be an update.

planned for the next update - that's any update to the game, and includes hotfixes.

Still not really a fan but it just sounds less abuseable already. Hopefully combining this and the RPD hook spawn changes will make it a lot less frustrating
Less abusable for sure. 33% of the current wiggle progress is a very healthy change - it means that in the most instances, the wiggle when the drop occurs will be a smaller amount. But you still have the other benefits of the perk as well...so definitely not a dead perk.
-
This was always a thing as far back as 2016 from my memory.
If you filled up your wiggle bar at least a small bit and were dropped, you'd gain the drop bonus but then as you were slugged (so not actively wiggling) your wiggle progress was gradually decreasing.
We've even had discussions last year on this on the forum, it was quite a surprise when I saw that many people didn't know it was a thing.
-
Yes for right now, this is only applied to Steam prior to it being hopefully rolled out to all platforms in the future.

The idea is that when you look at a number, like 25, it's on a base 10 system. Each 'space' has 10 digits that can go in it (0 through 9). The 5 is 5x1 (or more accurately, 5*(10^0), so the 5 is just a 5. The 2 is 2*(10^1), so it means 20, not just 2. If the number were 625, the 6 goes in the space that marks 100, and 6*(10^2) records the value of 600.
Binary works on base 2. Each digit is either a 0 or a 1. Say I have the binary string 01011001. Ignoring signed bits for a second (though it's the same either way in this case), this displays the number 89. The math behind it looks like this; it's (2^7)*0 + (2^6)*1 + (2^5)*0 + (2^4)*1 + (2^3)*1 + (2^2)*0 + (2^1)*0 + (2^0)*1. Or more simply, 128*0 + 64*1 + 32*0 + 16*1 +8*1 + 4*0 + 2*0 + 1*1.
It's way easier to do this kind of calculation on a base 10 system because you don't have to mentally 'add' anything, but it is technically the same way you add up normal integers and it can work for any base. Hexadecimal, for instance, works on base 16, with digits 0 through F.
Binary's prominent in programming because computers all boil down to a bunch of circuits that can hold an 'on' or an 'off' value; there isn't room for 10 distinct states down at the very building blocks of the system, just 2, so it's most efficient to build your 'this means this' cases around that.
My son just tried explaining it to me as well - he explained it in the similar way, then nearly hit me over the head with the paper he was writing it all down on LOL
I really do appreciate you taking the time to explain that to me, I find binary very confusing. Thank you <3

I don't even check profiles in the lobby - I click to search for a match and then I tab out to Discord or browser without even paying much attention.
Private profiles etc do not bother me, I know many people who have their profiles on private to non friends (mine is partly private also), people do that for all sorts of reasons and not all of those are connected with DbD. I concentrate on my own game and don't really think about the players I'm playing against in a negative manner.

You'll find most allowance numbers in coding come down to binary - in this case, there's a string of 31 bits that can contain either a 1 or a 0, and that base-2 system determines an integer value. If I have 001000 in binary, that means 8; 010110 would be 22.
2^31 is 2,147,483,648. You can have n-1 bloodpoints in this system because the counter starts at 0, so it can record a value of 0 to 2,147,483,647.
I couldn't even understand the maths behind that :(
-
Definitely, stereotyping by Region/Country etc is not something we wish to have on this platform.

Obviously a troll bait post seeing Rizzo edited it. But if it's not like Mandy and others said none of that is against any rules and is not even slightly being toxic. It's the same as if I said that survivors are being toxic for using BT, DS, DH, and CoH every match.....that's not toxic that's just a sweaty Meta build..... annoying....Yes......Toxic......No
the "edit" was just moving the thread from the wrong section...so not an edit to the post itself.

I love this game, wonderful concept. But every game I'm constantly getting a toxic killer who tunnels and camps or facecamps or runs the most bs perks on the most bs killer like a ruin, noed, Nemesis. After like 10 games straight of reporting them for being toxic I still get toxic rude players the next game when I hope it would be different. On the verge of uninstalling.
Please do not report for things that are not against the game rules, this just wastes the time of the Support team and ACM's who have to review these reports.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules - the rules shown here, show what should/shouldn't be reported.

Yes please, video of this would be most helpful. If you do record it, if you could also provide your game logs for that match, that would be very helpful - thank you.
You can find your game logs here:
1. Press Windows Key + R to bring up "Run".
2. Type this in the "Run" prompt: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs
3. The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file.

With regards to the bug, that has been reported on the forum and has been acknowledged by the QA team. Please try to keep bug reports to that section of the forum to ensure that they are seen by the correct team. Thank you.

We are not abandoning "giving out the shards" at all.
The banner message was removed from the forums to be updated and as I had finished work prior to the update yesterday, then I did them immediately when I started work today - no hidden agenda, no trying to hide things (as you can see from our Twitter posts on the subject).
We are sorry that this issue has occurred and it's being addressed, we fully intend that all our players receive their shards for having played as Leatherface, as we initially advised.

I've been waiting for 6 and a half days now to receive my iridescent shards for Bubba's cosmetics being removed, this site used to have a disclaimer saying people would be getting their shards and that the issue is being worked on, and yet here I am, still with no shards, and there's no more disclaimer about the shards, seemingly as if the issue has been "resolved"
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/09KP0SUUNGCW/image.png
I have progress for this achievement, I played Bubba for at least one game before the required date, and I still do not have the shards I was promised.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UTV7NBUD0498/image.png
Please fix this, some compensation would be nice for having had to wait so long, especially considering the fact some claim they received double the amount, and a friend of mine, who doesn't even own the Leatherface DLC, got 6000 shards for some reason. They haven't even had the game for a year.
We are aware of the issue and we have tweeted about it. The forum disclaimers were removed due to being updated - and as I had finished work prior to the Tweets being sent out last night, I have done the forum messaging now. It's certainly not something "we're sweeping under the carpet".
I do apologise for the delays that are happening with both the shards and the rift issue, but right now all I can do on my end is request that our players remain patient whilst we resolve this issue - we are keeping you updated and will let you know when there is an update.

Perhaps "support" shouldn't be sending out misleading scripted emails stating that they've "just received word" that shards have been sent out to all players, despite knowing that it isn't true.
"Support cannot grant the shards right now. IF that changes, then I will let you know." - IF that changes? Does this imply there's a possibility that those of us who didn't receive any shards, never will?
No, that's not what I meant. I mean if it changes that support can grant them - or that support is needed to grant them. Which is not the case right now, apologies for the misunderstanding there.
-
Exactly what @Ripley says, thank you.
-
I'm not sure if that's something that would weaken him way too much and make him too much like Hillbilly.
I don't think LF is too strong as a killer, I do think his camping potential is too great - but that to me is more off an issue with camping rather than the specific character.

After almost every Q&A I started wondering about some stuff they were saying.
Many many times when problems, ideas or solutions were brought up, BHVR said they have or had many great ideas but they didn't work when brought I to practice.
But did they ever said what the ideas they had or have?
I can't remember i have.
They just keep silent about what it was and keep us in the dark.
Why not get the community involved in it and help testing it?
I mean there is a Player Test Build (ptb) which is a perfect place to test those ideas and see what and if there are problems with it.
If there are problems with certain ideas which you can't find and solution for, there's always a chance that people from the community can.
I mean a pair of fresh eyes can often do wonders.
So why not take advantage of the PTB and get the community involved with actually testing of ideas?
It's imo a good use for it other than just show off the new chapter and some changes you made.
Probably due to time and money...it's a massive investment to make changes, and if the design team (or any other department) have enough of an idea about whether or not something will work, then creating builds to put on the PTB just to have that notion confirmed is rather pointless and a waste of manpower, the people could be working on things that they know would work instead.

I remember the time before SWF was introduced - there was the option at the start of KYF and SWF and KYF was implemented first (disclaimer before people jump on that, both were always intended).
Survivors just used to lobby dodge until the got into the lobbies with their friends (not difficult to do even now if you're in the same area). That actually caused bigger issues for matchmaking having lobbies being dodged all over the place. People are going to want to play with their friends, it's only natural - this can be a party game for many players, not everyone takes the game super competitively and a lot are casual players who want to have fun with their friends.
Also, a lot of SWF do not even discuss the game properly when they're playing - it's not so much information that they're passing to each other but misinformation and trolling of each other.
Also, I've been accused of being in a SWF a lot of times, when I was not - because the players coordinated together. That happens more frequently than people realise, which then again leads players to assume they're playing against SWF.
Yes coordinated SWF teams are strong, nobody is denying that. And a team of 4 solo survivors is the weakest section of the game, but fortunately as it's been mentioned, there are tentative plans (nothing confirmed) to address that issue.
-
I want to clear up something quickly, Support is unable to help with this situation right now - we're giving as much information as possible and whilst I appreciate the frustration around the shards, it is an ongoing situation that is being looked into as a matter of urgency. Sending tickets to Support is not going to help I'm afraid as the current position is that we're working on it so Support cannot grant the shards right now. IF that changes, then I will let you know.
-
@tesla said:
Should those who haven't received the shards open a ticket about the issue?
There is no need to open a ticket at this time, if that point comes - I will let people know. Right now it won't help I'm afraid.

Now killers literally can’t get to a hook on RPD library because of a perk/ map design and nothing?
The Devs silence says it all really. So much for that kill switch feature that they promised for bugs and exploits.
All it would take to fix is one hook guaranteed to always spawn in the library, that’s it!
The killswitch is there for something that's absolutely game breaking and can crash the game or be severely exploited where the game cannot end for example. Neither of those apply here, survivors can be slugged etc.
Whilst I appreciate RPD can be frustrating right now, it is something that has been brought up to the team.

Just to let you know, that I'm fine with shopping links for things like this - it's game related and hardware, links are often useful for these things so I'm fine with it.

Weird, I remember reading somewhere since the game could be finished by the other remaining people it wasnt considered hostage for that person would eventually die from EGC once all gens were fixed, I think it was in a thread related to the dead end room on the Saloon where some person caught 2/3 people and one remained outside, I remember reading it wasnt hostage because the remaining one outside could finish the game by himself and activate the EGC killing the trapped people and ending the game albeit slowly.
But I may remember that thread wrong, it was more than a year ago.
If EGC had started prior to the survivors being blocked, that would be fine - but if the EGC had not yet started, blocking a survivor for a length of time is a reportable (and bannable) offence. And before people jump in, I'm not saying blocking them for 15s whilst waiting out BT for example, we're talking minutes here.

You are wrong, holding the game hostage is a situation when one side cant progress their objective no matter what, like blocking the last remaining Survivors in the one way in room in the Saloon (without downing them) or blocking the last remaining Survivors in The Game corridor.
If someone can bleed its not a hostage situation, if someone can be downed even if he hides out of spite the Killer can still find them, if you trap 3 people and the last one is outside of the room and can finish generators and open a door isnt a hostage situation either.
Hostage situations are only when one side cant progress their objective by any mean and the only solution is to disconect, if the objective can progress its not hostage situation, it may be a childish and petty situation, 2 last Survivors hiding and locker switching is childish but the Killer can still find them and finish the game.
Sorry this is also incorrect.
The killer blocking a survivor in a corner is a hostage situation regardless if the other 3 survivors are able to work on generators. The survivor that is being blocked cannot do anything to progress the game (this is of course as long as EGC has not yet started). It is completely irrespective of the other survivors being alive.
The blocked survivor is being held hostage, cannot die without being hit by the killer, cannot work on generators - can do absolutely nothing in that situation therefore it is a hostage situation and completely against the game rules.

But recently dev just banned people who body blocked survivors before EGC though, you can keep yelling "you are wrong" but that does mean nothing.
I wonder if you have done something like that yourself, because that is the only real reason I can think of for you keep insisting it as "not reportable"?
Slugging is most definitely NOT holding the game hostage - the game will end, the person will bleed out.
Holding someone hostage in a corner, the killer body blocking a survivor there for example, prior to EGC starting, is holding the game hostage for that person, as the person cannot do anything to progress the game, cannot die for example, cannot do a gen either. Slugging does not fall under that category which is why we specifically have on the game rules that camping, slugging, tunnelling etc are not reportable offences.
Nobody gets banned for slugging anyone.

We don't have anything to do on our side. You are currently an "applicant" not a "member" - this is to do with email verification. Once you've fully verified your email account to the forums then you will be granted the member role automatically. This is a security feature that we will not bypass.
Also, please do not contact Support for any forum issue - Support are there for game related issues and have nothing to do with the forums.

This discussion has gone on quite far enough, and whilst people are entitled to their opinions and things are a matter of public records - I really do not think we need to have this discussion here.

Pretty much anything by Starcadian or Toxic Avenger at that point.

No the teachable perks remain unlocked....all you have to do, is wait for the RNG Gods to grant you the perks you want in the bloodweb.
And the teachable perks you've unlocked can appear in the other survivors bloodwebs anytime after they've been unlocked.

Yes the wording of this was changed some months back to make it clearer - I don't think the way it worked changed (although I stand to be corrected on that), just the actual wording on the add-on.

He most definitely is iconic, that's kind of an understatement!

Please be aware, as per the message on top of the forums - the issue is resolved but not for players who had the error when purchasing the rift initially. A fix is planned to be implemented early this week to help the players who were affected by this.

Mathieu is around, but as Patrick is the Lead Game Designer, he answers the majority of the questions with regards to game design.

I use DS and don't find it useless in the slightest - it actually helps when you're being tunnelled. It just doesn't help when you wish to abuse it any longer.
If you've had chance to heal, or start on a gen or totem - you're not being tunnelled so I think it's perfectly valid that the perk doesn't work in those situations.

This is the message on the top of these forums.
It's something we are aware of, and is being looked into. I do not have any more information than that at this time.

My perks - Hex: No one escapes death / Hex: Devour Hope / Pop Goes the Weasel / BBQ & Chili
Map - Gas Heaven
Offering - Red Envelope
Add-ons- Paint Thinner / Black Box
We'd really need to see some video of that. I tested the addon just now to make sure if it was working or not and it was working for me - please remember the survivors need to be in Dreamworld for the entity blocker to block the exit - if they're awake, it does not proc at all.
