I think it's actually one of the best perks, it makes you so efficient, I love it. I've been using it as Spirit and it's amazing. What does everyone else think?

My build is STBFL, Sloppy butcher, A Nurses calling and BBQ.

Edit: I also stopped using Ruin on Spirit and Hag for STBFL, with Spirit, I'm getting quick hooks and with Hag I'm just flying everywhere.

Good on some killers bad on others. Your using it on a killer I think is a waste of a slot.

Imagine this. A T wall into a jungle gym into the killers shack. Killer chases you for seven minutes through all the bs. About to get the hit. Survivor drops this item, teabags out the nearest window, and is gone. No thank you.

Why didnt you leave after not getting a first hit or pallet within a few seconds?

  • @Fibijean said:

You can't pop 3 gens in one minute, and a good killer can down someone in 30 seconds. Not all the time, but it's definitely doable. Pressure is not a myth, it's an essential skill if you want to do well at killer. It's not a matter of making the survivors fear you, but rather of forcing them into a position where they have no choice but to make certain strategic decisions, which you can then capitalise on.

I could go into details of how it all works, and I will if you want me to, but this comment was long enough already. Basically, keeping up pressure is the most important part of winning the game as a killer, and any good killer will tell you the same thing. There's a reason why the killers who are considered the strongest are those who excel at applying pressure to the survivors. So it's not really a stupid argument when you think about it - the whole killer gameplay experience revolves around preventing the survivors from getting the gates powered and escaping, and pressure is the way you do that.

If you chase one survivor for two minutes without downing them and ignore everything else going on in the game, you can expect to be at a disadvantage. On the other hand, if you manage to keep up the pressure through consistent downs, hooks, injuries and strategic patrolling in between, you can expect to do well because the survivors won't have the opportunity to get generators done.

The reason people bring it up so much is because it is the difference between playing well and playing badly as killer, and so when a killer does do badly in a game, 90% of the time it's an issue of not applying enough pressure. Basically, people don't necessarily say it to be mean - they say it because it's usually the truth.

Yes you can pop 3 gens in one minute. It's rare, but possible. Usually it's 3 toolboxes and people who know what they are doing vs ruin. Prey you have Ruin.

Everything else I agree with. My biggest issue with Ruin is people dont learn proper pressure to deal without it.

Oh lul you thought i care about that you made it to rank 1 on both sides? I meant to 4k depip squad and the rest of your statement. But thanks for revealing your utter bias, you do not care about balance or anything. She isn't dead at all but not fun to play as that is why i talk about it.

I find it very odd that there is no devotion at all no?

    @Liruliniel

I did not mean for him to deliver proof about being r1 and do not see it the way at all that rank = skill, i've stated that multiple times in the forums.

I was showing @GrootDude the devotion and laughing. Even on spare accounts usually people have some additional devotion. Since it has his name I'll assume it's his main.

Alright I just wanted to make sure honestly. A lot of people seem to think rank matters and I cant help, but wonder how new they are to the game.

if the killer put the ebony mori, the survivor will 100% lose or one surv can go into a hatch, seriously the mori needs to go, if the mori will be reworked, rework keys to, for the killers stop say everthing, just for the mori leave the game

Survivors have the Key. It's quite literally the same thing. Do minimal objective and profit for easy mode.

I just don't understand it, it seems to me if the developers actually talked to and asked the community on pressing issues via the forums the game would get a lot better and things would go a lot smoother. But community managers seem to cherry pick on the topics they intervene on, and mostly stay away from the pressing issues that cause much backlash or have controversy to them. I'm never went to school for public relations and all that but it seems pretty obvious to me honesty and clarity is the way to go, but is seems BHVR's dev team disagree's, I just am asking an honest question and would like an honest answer without any fluff speak.

I don't know wha that means that I didn't adjust for the new stuff. I'm saying that having to play differently just to get challenges done is not fun for me, and your solution is to play differently? I'm done with the unhooks challenge. It wasn't fun. Even if most people were done by now, which in my experience they aren't, there will be a fresh tome and it will start again.

I'm saying if you dont adjust to how people are gonna be acting I.E hook farming. Than of course your gonna not enjoy the game. You need to run perks to help with or pay attention to the challenges so you know what's happening.

  • @Drazen said:

Title says it all revert basekit changes. She never needed basekit nerf...........

She's not fun anymore she's become a chore to play. If you blink too early you lose the chain blink because it was 99.99% not a 100%. If you dont blink or you miss the first hit the survivors can just hold "W" and outrun you.

Any good survivor can loop her eternally because you can see her blink now when it ends. Really a lot of the addons are more useless than before. She has multiple BP addons and addons that are legitimately just her teachables.

Shes a joke now. Not sure why people continue to complain anymore.

I don't see how having to compete with three other people for unhooks is entertaining. Or having to do x amount of heals a game at the expense of actually doing gens and getting what would be an easy win. Even if I don't buy the pass again, which I won't, other people will and it affects the game. Normally I'd get 2-3 unhooks a game easily. For that challenge? It was barely one in four or five hours of playing. How is going into games with a person who changes at the last second into a Blendette with a key who is trying for the Escape Without Being Hooked challenge fun? Teammates literally have no intention of trying, just hiding until everyone is dead and getting out through the hatch.

Sounds like you didn't adjust for the new stuff. Try running Empathy. Should help with the unhooks. Most the people are done with the Tomes for the most part with a few stragglers and than the people who dont care.

I'm back to regular gaming I dont see people doing many challenges anymore.

As you all know, Amanda Young is the character in DBD hiding beneath the Pig mask. But why did we get her instead of Hoffman? Hoffman was so much more badass and did alot more of the attacking and fighting with the Pig mask than Amanda. Wouldnt the Entity rather have a strong killer like Hoffman rather than a sober druggy like Amanda? And that goes the same for game design. I'm surprised the devs chose her instead.

Because Amanda Young was devoted to Jigsaw which the Entity could use. Than she also rigged the game which made her viable as a Killer.

For example if you were extremely toxic or DC on first down and I personally remembered your psn ID because of either u sending me hate mail or ruined my game as survivor. I'll remember it and that name because of your actions for a bit.

It's not like appearing offline takes so much effort? I don't understand what you're trying to suggest here. It's a quick fix for repeatedly going against the same bitter triggered killer multiple matches in a row that is still reeling from a decisive strike 3 hours ago.

I wasnt getting at anything man just stating I dont mind it. I mean I dont really dont disagree except I think name should be visible in lobby to the killer. They technically can use the information provided to customize the build which is supposed to be why the killer can see us, but not the other way around. Though most people just run same builds regardless.

Also wouldn't appearing online prevent you from that situation occasionally?

On PSN, you get one free name change so it isn't an option. I just wish our names were concealed until the end of the match. The devs said they don't allow The Killer's ID known because people would lobby dodge or bully but the same can be said of The Killer seeing the IDs of the Survivors.

You can check who your playing with regardless of name being shown or not with the PSN Quick Menu/DBD/Currently Playing With.

Yes. There's a lot more that goes into making games than you might think. It's not as simple as going into the code for Wake Up and unchecking a few boxes that accidentally got checked.

Most of the gamer population dont understand how coding a game works. They always see the visuals of the product I.E inside of a cave while exploring. They dont realize the countless hours it takes to make the lighting and textures while making it synch up with other aspects of the game without creating issues with say a underground forest in another area.

They may understand that it is code, but they do not seem to understand that a single error of a random digit can have drastic effects in another spot.

Either way good work patching the basement issue ASAP keep it up.

  • Why do you continue to nerf over performing Killers or powerful perks, but you have yet to give a lot of the weaker Killers and perks Quality of Life changes that will add diversity to the game?

I understand that you have started to rework or give some Perks QoL changes, but you give Killers reworks which take forever when a few simple changes could actually help add variety to the killer pool until a full rework is available.

It was a lot discussed here already and I belive this is going to solve A LOT of issues solo survivors have atm.

Pls, a PTB testing isn't much asked for.

I think basekit it will be too powerful and overbearing for killers. Lack of information is what helps killers by making this info base and for free it could become incredibly powerful and overbearing against Killers.

Kindred is good now, but I still see idiots who would rather self care at red ranks than get people off the hook. I watched a dwight self care while I was on hook after losing the killer while I had Kindred. I ended up getting irritated and purposely farmed him to death.

On the other hand I dont mind testing it.

Honestly keys wouldn't be a issue if you had too either bring them or get Lucky with Plunders Instinct. I dont think people should find keys normally without it.

Your definition of situational vs free doesn't put the basic information you get from having a camera and audio in the first place as situational.

You defined situational information as information that is derived from something else, but that something else would still be free information. So you still inherently MUST have some level of free information in order to have a game at all (unless you are one of those guys that will do a literally blind speedrun. Believe it or not that's a thing).

And again, you HAVE to balance around Survivors having that information for free at some point because even if they straight up deleted the perk the info would still be there because SWF exists and they will have that info without using a perk slot. So the first step to doing that is to ensure that the rest of the player base also has the info you are about to balance around.

Because that information isnt information it's a requirement to play a game for the majority of the population hense it is absolute and free.

Either way I told you were done. If I could find a way to hide your messages I would your replies are a joke.

No. I don’t like the fact that we were going to get them and then people got pissy and now we ar not. So yeah I am upset about it.

Tbh other than the Hound Mask and Kate's Shirt the rest are kinda trash.

I mean the reason they did the exclusives was because of the secondary market. The Holiday ones were technically earned which is a good reason for it to not be included. I wouldn't of minded them being added to the store tho.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/893949#Comment_893949

Except games in general usually give you ally tracking for free for this exact reason.

There's no point in even pretending like this is a legitimate trade off when you have players that will get that info for free regardless of your game design.

Also you have to have some info be free, otherwise you'd need a perk to have anything more than a black screen with no audio. You don't need a perk to get sounds and you don't need a perk to have a working 3rd person camera. You also don't need a perk to see downed Survivors, hooked Survivors, the exit gates, the location of completed generators, status effects ect.

All of these are free info. Perks give you more info and abilities compared to some baseline, but the baseline can be anything and adding to the baseline shouldn't be dismissed like that.

Are you suggesting that we should remove the portraits in the bottom left and remove all notifications and basekit auras? If not then you support giving players free info, you only don't think of it like that because it's always been there, but from an objective point of view that doesn't matter since Kindred could have always been basekit as well.

Well imma end the discussion because apparently you can't be in the wrong. Also the fact you literally said black tv no audio for info made me laugh so much. So taking anything you say seriously till I forget about it makes me think your a joke.

Either way there's a difference between situational information and free information. You should learn the difference.

I.E a bosses HP bar with numbers is free and a boss HP bar without is situational information. Both are useful while one is absolute the other is derived. Get it? Same situation big difference.

Kindred at base is Free information while currently as is for hooks its just situational information. While Kindred would be nice it effectively goes against what the game needs for killers. While nice for survivors because it just states should u do gens or go for the unhook. It basically screws killers over. I mean unless you want killers to struggle further. At that point we may as well petition Behavior to work on AI bots.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/893637#Comment_893637

Yes but your dismissing the idea of kindred basekit without actually addressing the thing that makes it a proposal in the first place

It's not that I'm dismissing the idea I straight up think its stupid. No one should have free Information without having first used something for it.

In every game you have played with Solo, Co-Op, PvE, and PVP in it. You can run a generic good stuff build for everything or you can run a specialized build for a specific one. If you say run a good PvE build in PvP you might do well against some people, but against a tuned PvP build you'll lose. While if you run a highly tuned PvP build the opposite is also true. You can still do well, but it's not nearly as optimal as picking a specific purpose for a build and what you need for the trial.

This applies to Solo or SwF. If you run a generic meta build yes you can do well, but most of those builds are generic good stuff. Your sacrificing slots you could devote to something more useful in said scenario like Solo.

So while yes I do think that Solo should get buffed I do believe that if you take a tuned SwF build or Meta build then get crushed because of the lack of information you needed in the trial. Then the issue is actually on you not the game.

Free anything is bad game design.

I just wondered because the last I heard about it was the most recent Q&A stream, in which they were asked whether the Doctor would be buffed and they said their intention wasn't to buff him so much as make QOL adjustments to make him more fun to play both as and against. But that didn't seem to me like they were planning to make him weaker, just different.

Ya I dont remember when or where man just I saw one of the Devs mention he would be weaker. Not exactly to what extent because I dislike Doctor so I didn't care honestly enough to pry into it. Was surprised I even bothered to mention it to a friend or remembered it for this thread.

  • I cant remember where exactly been awhile since I saw it and pointed out to a friend who reminded my other friend in a party a few days ago.

  • That too, but since it's about Solo I didn't bother mentioning it. I have been enjoying Kindred and Empathy or After Care.

But your also on ps4 where its more likely to go well if you can control him fine. I mean they didnt play the ptb unless they have a pc as well as a ps4 and if they have a pc and played the ptb they would probably be playing on it. I would if my laptop wasnt broken atm.

I am also rank 9 atm facing red ranks and getting at least 2 kills with him despite only having 2 perks atm. (Though ive only played a few games so far) id say he will be fine on console for a while until the survivors adapt because pc survivors have already had time to try and adapt to him.

This is just what i thinks happening console wize at least.

Also green rank is always vs purple and red rank survivors lately. Its weird.

I dumped the PC version when dedicated servers came out. I could jump on and let it update and try it there. I have seen a Dwight who knows how to deal with it. The maximum spin I can get with Oni is about a 180, but after that I have issues. I compare Oni to Billy with Spike Boots.

Probably I give people a few weeks. I dont think he will be top tier, but definitely upper mid tier easy. He's not a console killer for sure. Though his tracking is god tier that forces people to heal which is good.

I like being green rank and beating red rank and purple rank. Makes me feel good, but I doubt they feel good about it. I like Green ranks because I find it more fun, but I dont think I belong here at all i just enjoy the fact i can play any killer with success.

  • I've been doing well with him on PS4 by using both the analog sticks to control the dash. I normally just use the strike as a tap for a simple 1state of dmg as controlling the Oni is hard when charging the Demon Strike at base.

I use the Demon Dash to cut people off from Loops and hit them along the way if possible. Other then that I use Sloppy Butcher, Infectious Fright, Thrilling Tremors, and Ruin (I'm not used to him yet) for my build.

He has the best tracking in the game.

I've consistently been getting 4k's against red and purple rank survivors while I'm still at rank 9 to 5. I'm trying to avoid going up too much so I can drop down a bit to get my Adept Nurse for plat around rank reset.

  • He needs love yes, but a good Trapper wont put them in obvious spots to where he seems weak. A great Trapper can do well against SWF groups pretty well. A God Tier Trapper is legit rare as they are terrifying.

Really the problem with Trapper is having to find and collect traps. Otherwise he would be fine. He's a killer based solely on skill of traps and mind games. Most people forget he doesn't want to hunt he wants to capture prey similar to Hag.

So killers have BBQ, a pretty useful perk with the nice bonus of extra bloodpoint gains. It's pretty nice, but survivors have We're Gonna Live Forever, which does absolutely nothing except give you bloodpoints. I personally think it's a little bit unfair that if survivors want the same bloodpoint gains killers get, they have to essentially waste an important perk slot for it. What if we took the bloodpoint effect, threw it on Mettle of Man and reworked Live Forever into a different perk? Or maybe even combine it with We'll Make It so it at least has a gameplay-affecting effect? I pretty much exclusively play survivor since I wanna play with my friends, and it kinda sucks that it's a tough grind for bloodpoints since We're Gonna Live Forever is useless.

BBQ&C gives stacks based on a secondary objective aka hooking. WGLF gives stacks for the unhooking of that same secondary objective plus protection hits.

Honestly BBQ is good for newer players not for people who already know what to do. BBQ&C is a poor man's Thrilling Tremors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891459#Comment_891459

A lot of the use I see for it is during the end game where there are only two survivors left. If the killer has BBQ he downs one of the survivors and then just leaves them there and searches for the last. Knowing that when he hooks that survivor he can easily find the first downed survivor even if he has crawled far away from where he was downed. I see that in A LOT of games, and to me it just makes Deer Stalker almost pointless.

I agree that they are different perks, but BBQ in that circumstance makes Deer Stalker pointless. Just wanted to start a discussion about it. Everyone has made good points so far! Maybe buff Deer Stalker? Even something like showing the aura intensity of the downed survivors as they "recover" like Buckle Up does.

Thanks for the healthy discussion! Cheers!

Ya one instance of BBQ being better than Deer Stalker is not a reason to nerf BBQ. They are for different purposes entirely.

BBQ is already pretty weak when against competent survivors who know how to hide anyways.

That's right, Balanced Landing now needs a buff or rework.

With the recent release of the Cursed Legacy chapter, Balanced Landing was tweaked to no longer give the stagger reduction when exhausted. It also removed the noises made when falling and the grunt when landing.

The thing is that the nerf heavily outweighs the buff. Balanced Landing is now the worst exhaustion perk in the game and one of the worst perks in the entire survivor selection. The perk is straight up useless when exhausted, no longer providing a passive.

Now that the nerf is officially in place, the perk needs a buff or rework. What I'm thinking is that the perk should give the stagger reduction and remove the noises made when falling, but the exhaustion aspect of the perk should be completely removed. It is Balanced Landing after all, and only being able to balance your landing once every 40-60 seconds completely contradicts the name. The description of the perk literally says you have cat-like reflexes. Cats don't have a cooldown on stabilizing their landing. Just remove the exhaustion part of the perk and Balanced Landing will be a viable perk again.

The only real issue was the abuse enough survivors did with it to warrant the nerf. I highly doubt it will ever be reworked any time soon. Also BL still 100% better than SB.
