The argument that killers don't apply preasure is dumb
I see often that survivors claim that killers lost because he didn't apply pressure
Sorry but what?
A killer can down someone in 1 minute, but by that time 3 gens can pop, soo what are survivors expecting? for the killer to stop mid chase and check on every generator?
Maybe I am dumb because how is a killer supposed to apply pressure when survivors simply don't fear the killer

The majority of the killers don't have the mobility or a power to shorten chases enough to properly apply the needed pressure, especially with the super large maps we have. They complain about slugging but that's literally your only way to apply enough pressure and that in itself is a very high risk play that has lots of counters.
Also, fix "pressure" spelling in your title, it will make people not take the post seriously with spelling errors.
I do think gens can fly by, but if you lost it was probably because you didn’t have enough pressure.
Even if a few gens pop before you get a down you can snowball that down into immense pressure where no one is touching gens. Once you have that first down the pressure starts to build up if you play correctly, get it?
You can't pop 3 gens in one minute, and a good killer can down someone in 30 seconds. Not all the time, but it's definitely doable. Pressure is not a myth, it's an essential skill if you want to do well at killer. It's not a matter of making the survivors fear you, but rather of forcing them into a position where they have no choice but to make certain strategic decisions, which you can then capitalise on.
I could go into details of how it all works, and I will if you want me to, but this comment was long enough already. Basically, keeping up pressure is the most important part of winning the game as a killer, and any good killer will tell you the same thing. There's a reason why the killers who are considered the strongest are those who excel at applying pressure to the survivors. So it's not really a stupid argument when you think about it - the whole killer gameplay experience revolves around preventing the survivors from getting the gates powered and escaping, and pressure is the way you do that.
If you chase one survivor for two minutes without downing them and ignore everything else going on in the game, you can expect to be at a disadvantage. On the other hand, if you manage to keep up the pressure through consistent downs, hooks, injuries and strategic patrolling in between, you can expect to do well because the survivors won't have the opportunity to get generators done.
The reason people bring it up so much is because it is the difference between playing well and playing badly as killer, and so when a killer does do badly in a game, 90% of the time it's an issue of not applying enough pressure. Basically, people don't necessarily say it to be mean - they say it because it's usually the truth.
Agree, there are some situations where the best killers cant applie pressure because the survivors have to much pallets, good buildings and loops, genrush, perks, items, immersion and the hitboxes sometimes.
Just learn how to pressure survivors. Besides some edgecases there is no killer that cant pressure enough to get a decent game.
It's just about maths.
4 survivor spawn on different gens, they start working as soon as the match starts, the killer finds the first survivor in 15 seconds, let's say he downs a survivor in 30 seconds (and it's not always possible, very hard actually, especially with killer that have to double hit), there are 3 gens at ≈55%, which is going up to ≈60% as the survivor is hooked. Now the killer sees with bbq one survivor, heads towards him, by that time, and the chase time, two gens are gonna pop, then one survivor will go for the save, and the other one will finish the third.
One hook for 3 gens, a trade no killer can take. If survivor play optimally a killer can't do anything.
(and this is by considering a fast first chase, that since it's the first chase, it's not likely)
The statement is true. You lose, when you focus to much in one chase and don't pressure the entire team.
Yes, some killer really could need some help with map mobility, reduced setup time etc. The nice thing about DBD is, the longer the game is alive, we get more option to counter some weaknesses of the killer. Corrupt Intervention, Ruin, etc. are perks that can buy you enough time to get your setup and killer rolling.
Losing 1-2 gens is not the end of the world, if in exchange you get everyone injured and at least one survivor hooked at all times.
That will force the survivors to unhook and heal, what leaves no one to actually do gens.
Find survivors fast, hurt them fast, down them fast. Find a killer that clicks with you and abuse his playstyle for your fun.
You can do a gen before some killers can even reach it. Applying pressure is not an option in this case, but you could also say it's a map design problem.
It's frustrating when I'm the killer in big maps like Rotten Fields and Red Forest. I can't have the luxury to play for "fun". If I'm wasting too much time in one chase then the game is already lost. I wish devs know how killer can be stressful sometimes and that's why they're complain too much about bad map design
The problem is most people only see pressure as downing 1 person at a time while racing the other 3. If you can chase multiple people off a gen, or juggle multiple survivors... thats a thing too, lol. Thats one reason discordance is so handy, it tells ya which spot to prioritize so you can pressure the most survivors at once.
Yes you can pop 3 gens in one minute. It's rare, but possible. Usually it's 3 toolboxes and people who know what they are doing vs ruin. Prey you have Ruin.
Everything else I agree with. My biggest issue with Ruin is people dont learn proper pressure to deal without it.
Some survivor mains man. They say "just apply pressure" and still have the mentality of "uMm tHiS iS a 1 V 1 n0t 1 v4!"
I think its kind of hilarious how so many people say just apply more pressure.
If so many people can't apply the necessary pressure to the point that this argument is everywhere and super common then perhaps killers should be buffed so pressure is easier to obtain.
Its not just a few people a lot of people on multiple websites have complained about gen speeds from day 1 noobies to fog whisperers with thousands of hours in the game.
"Killer mains need to git gud" doesn't help the discussion at all.
"Break the chase to pressure gen workers" doesn't help at all if there is no weak link that can't run properly if fact breaking a long chase for a new long chase could hurt you.
Edit: Plus having to pressure constantly with little room for error or gens will fly isn't fun. Its stressful. Games where you get hooks/downs are fun not 5 minute steamrolls because you weren't getting downs back to back.
It really depends on the survivors you get.
Yes, you can always improve yourself as killer which makes a difference.
But when survivors play at a certain level of efficiency, there's not much you can do to win. Unless you're packing some serious heat as killer, the chances of you stopping all the generators from getting done is very slim.
on large maps few killers actually possess the tools to apply adequate pressure
it's laughable how many of the killers have remained so pathetically weak for so long
Exactly. The best killers can apply pressure to multiple survivors at once, not just focus one and let the others do whatever they like.
But ironically, they are also the best killers for focusing someone down. I feel like spirit especially doesn't care much about DS because you can immediately phase walk back onto them and continue to tunnel. Then DS is gone and they can be freely tunneled to death.
Sorry, my comment was worded ambiguously. What I meant was the best killer players are able to do that, regardless of which character they're playing (although of course, some characters, like Spirit, are easier to achieve highly with than others, which is why they're considered stronger).
You know what i do when a killer stops chasing me? i go back on the nearest gen or back to the gen i was on.
OMG pressure nullified!@#$
Totally agree with this. This is why Nurse, Spirit, and Billy are top tier, they can effectively keep survivors off of gens through their powers and why killers like Trapper and Clown are low tier. It also comes down to map design, with larger maps screwing over a majority of killers as they simply cannot cover gens while consistently downing survivors and advancing hook states.
Not so high if you run Nurse’s Calling
When I was going for the Oni adept it was not uncommon for two or three survivors to spawn on a gen and knock it out before I could even reach it. Also very common was 2-3 gens popping before I even got one down. Stealth and mobile killers are easily the best killers because they can actually apply map pressure.
Play a map like The Game with 47 safe pallets with an M1 killer and try to apply map pressure lol
