I already know. I'm suggesting this to give a small helping hand to those who don't. (there are a lot who don't you will find on these forums)

Then isn't the issue lack of information? That's not a helping hand it's just a horrible idea and solution. Imagine your a rank 20 first game gone well and bam the killer just insta downs you. Killer has no perks and you got no idea what happened.

I think it would be a good way to make the EGC more scary and get survivors off of gens.

Give them a reason to get off the gens. Dont expect the Devs or the game to hold your hand. You can create additional objectives by slugging hitting. You just need to learn when to slug and when to hook. That's a start at least.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Temporary second objective for devs to try: Once the exit gates are powered a dull totem becomes a Hex totem. While this totem is standing all survivors have the Exposed status effect and and the killer has the benefit of 25% less cooldown for missed basic attacks.

Then NOED could be changed: Once the exit gates are powered you gain 3/4/5% Movement speed increase

    What do you guys think?

I already think badly of killers who have it. Why make it base? It's just a reward for failure kind of perk anyways.

This is the failire for killers end of EGC.

  • I use the Jeff one since it came out, but I might pick up Susie's. This year's was a bit of a let down. We didnt get a killer similar to the Clown's Santa suit sadly and Legions sweaters imho dont count.

It's funny how you can draw so many comparisons to Billy when it comes to Oni/LF, and you sit there wondering how stuff like this happens while Billy just kind of sits there sweating.

I always compare stuff like this to how killers like Legion or Ghostface lose their power, which has a moderately long CD, when they miss a swing. It's the type of mistake that's really, completely not needed but for some reason the devs think killers that aren't that great need such downsides. It's exactly why Billy, despite what I'd call being one of the most balanced killers, not receiving the types of nerfs or "downsides" that modern killers are given.

I do well with LF in comparison to Billy.

I consider veteran if you have over 75% of achievements unlocked and 1000+ hours

    75% of base or total?

  • @Viracocha72 said:

Is that what this was referring to: "Fixed an issue that allowed The Oni to rotate faster than intended when using the joysticks during Demon Dash."?

Basically curving Oni in short. By using the left analog stick you would control his movement and with the right analog stock you could move the camera for further movement turning. You could do some sick stuff like that with a bit of practice. I noticed it when I went for my Adept didn't think it was a big issue tho. Was actually really useful if you tried it out though.

When are we going to see Gen speeds, and tool box speeds looked at?

Base Repairtime should be increased period.

Toolbox add-ons that increase base speed need to be tweaked, tuned down.

Why is it bad and unhealthy for the Killer to slow the game down, but perfectly fine for survivors to rush through the game like a meth addled track star?

Because the difference between slowing the game down with say a perk like PGTW and Forever Freddy is massive. While one is annoying PGTW being the legit slow down. Freddy took it to a extreme and made the game boring on both sides to play.

It wasnt fun to sit on a gen to have the killer legit pop it because they run Dying Light, PGTW, Thantophoia, Thrilling Tremors or Surveillance, Swing Chains, and Jump Rope. Half the time I didnt get in a chase the Killer knew he could pop and move on.

Worse part was 90% of the forever Freddy were bad players boosted because of a good build and they made the game toxic and unfun from both sides. If your really upset you lost Forever Freddy you need to realize there are people on both sides. On the other hand if your upset about the slow down effect being nerfed i can understand that.

Before you call me a survivor biast or main ask @GrootDude I've literally almost exclusively been playing killer as of late except dailies and if friends want to play.

I can't even blame people for DCing and it's disgusting to hear the killer brag afterwards for being a trash killer and what I consider an exploit to be honest.... Does anyone else see this or am I just getting really unlucky? I'm rank 5 after loosing a few ranks trying rift challenges...

Since his release I have seen maybe 2 people do this. Majority of people play the suboptimal build of A Nurse's Calling, Thantophoia, Sloppy Butcher, and Ruin and use his ability just to get the first hit and mind game. Seen a few amazing Ghostface that actually stalk like Ghostface was designed and some of them can be brutally effective at downing people.

Lol spoken like a true person who's been called out, you know who else says stuff like this? Speed runners who got verifiably caught cheating 🤣 it's hilarious really, it's like fakes all use the same rule book of statements when they get called out .

More like I dont see the point in getting on my PC. Updating DBD which i haven't used on PC since Dedicated Servers (so my rank would be pitiful making this all invalid in your eyes regardless) were introduced because of how buggy they were. Sign up for twitch and stream for what to waste my time to prove you wrong. Seems like a waste of time.

I would rather play on my ps4 without bothering to waste my time trying to impress a random nobody who means nothing to me. So he can try and call me out to feel better about his lack of skill and his overreliance on Ruin.

Wait do people really cheat on speed runs? If so that's kinda sad.

Even a broke clock is right twice a day. Show us a stream of you playing back to back games doing this. You only get games like this against trash teams lol.

And one of them DC lol what a joke

Ya Nea DC at the end when I knocked her off the unhook and left the them on the ground because Infectious Fright proc so I had better stuff to do.

I dont need to stream or even care enough to try. I'm not someone who needs to prove anything to anyone. I don't need ruin because I learned the difference between wasting time and using it efficiently long ago.

As Trapper, corrupt will be just as good, since you need to setup. And since corrupt and ruin have awful synergy (they won’t be on gens, so more time for looking for totems), it makes sense why you did so well.

I'm surprised someone actually understands CI is better on Trapper than Ruin. Guaranteed set up time vs RNG based slow down. Not only that you can really set up a late game 3 gen strategy pretty easy.

    I give you props.

"lvl 1 Nurse for dailies" LOL stop assuming things. You know what happens when you assume things right?

Dude I have an entire account dedicated to playing just Nurse and Huntress. I got to rank 5 JUST playing Nurse this season, and I honestly wasn't even trying for rank I was playing for BP on that account. I don't just play her once a month. I play her quite a lot. She is not weak on console, just really hard to play and requires a lot of practice and dedication to use properly. Again if you could play against any of the red rank Nurse mains you'd see she is definitely not at all weak. They are some of the deadliest killers at red ranks, consistently.

And on both my main and my alt she is level 50 with most perks. I don't prestige my killers unless I like their bloody skins, and for Nurse I play with cosmetics anyway so tell me why it's important she is prestiged?? Has NOTHING to do with skill or time played.

She is still the strongest killer in the game. Period. Just because her kill rate dipped doesn't mean she is bad. More than likely it means a lot of Nurse "mains" that played nothing but omega blink/multi-blink found out how bad they actually were without that super OP stuff. But players that were actually good Nurse players still dominate with her, even on console.

As the devs have said NUMEROUS times at this point... the stats are not everything. Just because her kill rate dropped doesn't mean she's suddenly a bad killer. Her potential to win is still insanely high, how you can ignore this is beyond me honestly. Just the sheer FACT she can teleport at will puts her far and above most killers in the game.

Really the entire fact you think she is weak on console proves how little you know about the situation. She is not weak. She is hard to play. Those players that dedicated the time to playing her are some of the best killers on the platform. The reason she's "a joke" on console is because majority of players don't put in that time to get good with her because she is so hard to play. Therefore, when you encounter a Nurse they are going to be really bad because they barely play her. Same with Huntress. This artificially drops her kill rate.

Get off your high horse please.

I'm probably the only person who enjoyed being chased by a great Nurse and being able to evade her.

    I miss that feeling.

I appreciate the flex, but one game (or player) doesn't really prove a point.n

I'm all for the health of this game on both sides and Ruin is ridiculously always going to be the go-to perk of EVERY killer. Not using it is harder mode (and you do well with this).

There needs to be a mild change and I actually do like the OP's idea. One perk in the entire game turns skill checks red and that's the thing me and my newbie friends freak over. Seems a bit much.

I am honestly at the point where I feel once u get a grip of your killer you should honestly drop Ruin. It's a fantastic stall perk and I use it on a few killers, but I think people's over reliance on it hurts more than helps. Few perks in this game on both sides can be more harmful than good to your progression as a player.

It wasnt meant as a flex of any kinda just literally got out of the match and sent the pic to a few people in confusion how a rank 19 outplayed a bunch of red ranks so it was easy on hand access. I have random amounts of pictures like this. I use Ruin on some killers and some I dont.

You are right I do think Ruin needs to be reworked some to help people, but as I play both sides I want to say. I dont want to hold a button and be bored out of my mind because the game took longer.

As you pointed out I do well without ruin. I would love to see people move away from ruin, but at the end of the day most people will have a couple good games without it and think "well maybe I was wrong". After that they run into a few SwF groups who push them in and they go back to Ruin.

So let me ask you this. Is Ruins inconsistent nature due to RNG the problem or is Ruin a symptom of improper Killer basics?

I play both PC and PS4. Well I ran from PC with dedicated servers.

  • @Widowmaker8197 said:

Everyone on the forums: lol just another kid complaining git gud skrub.

    Me: smh...

It's because people get tired of Toxic behavior. It's a 5 player game.

  • @chris360r said:

I posted this on perks and add-ons and decided to put it here instead

My friends and I are red ranks survivors and killers and we may have an idea to help alleviate the pressure that ruin has brought to everyone. First, what are the problems and reasons to it?

    • People dislike the RNG of it.
    • It last forever in low ranks but is gone in the first minute of high ranks.
    • It is definitely a perk needed to help Set up killers and ramp up killers reach their potential.
    • Good survivors can definitely finish a gen or 2 with ruin up or 3 gens if ruin was taken in the first 2mins of the game. This can depend on killer choice or choice of items though.

So what can help make Ruin more manageable for both sides because as of now I believe ruin does need to exist but at the same time does need a change. We came up with 2 solutions.

    • So the first option is to make it a flat % increase to gen time which will be 10%/15%/20%, we will also take away great skill checks. This will get rid of the RNG while also not punishing new players for hitting skill checks. Now we are not sure whether to make this a Hex or just a perk. Obviously this will be an overall nerf to Ruin if it is still a Hex, However it will be a buff if Ruin just becomes a perk and probably a staple in every killers build which leads us to option two.
    • We make Ruin crazy annoying. So we keep the gen time increase while also making skill checks come at an increase rate 17%/38%/50% more skill checks, and lastly make missed skill checks cause regression. This will give good reason to keep ruin as a Hex while creating an incentive to look for it while also rewarding skilled player for hitting good and great skill checks so rapidly.

So obviously this is all up to debate but we do feel this may help ruin not be as bad as it is currently.

Tell me how I needed Ruin please in this 12 minute game where they got 2 gens done. I'm tired of people acting like Ruin is the only option available to anyone. Some people dont rely on it because they no longer need it or realized relying on it and making excuses is a handicap on yourself.

Btw not a Trapper main and yeah I have Ruin for him.

Don't get me wrong, I've been running unbreakable and tenacity and I try to save unbreakable for the absolute best moment but even then sometimes you get slugged again thereafter.

@FriendlyGuy Lucky you!! but with enough pressure Gatekeeper should´t be a problem. Im sure you can do it :)

@Heartbound Thanks. It was nasty, but not as nasty as Plague. im still pucking because of it 🤮

@RakimSockem As far as i know they will nerf rank-resets, so waiting is no longer an option anymore. But In the past, i did the same and switched to Survivor until most of the strong teams are gone. 😅

For Trapper: Backwater Swamp. Use the Iridescent Stone and the Honing Stone. Make sure you Slug and grab with R1 out of traps.

For Billy: Auto Wreakers with Tunning Guide and the Green Cool Down addon. Slug a ton literally a ton. Make sure you back rev if your not good with Billy.

For Leatherface: Haddonfield or Springwood with Beast Mark's and the Tunning Guide. Same as Billy. Except Beast Mark's makes you faster with chainsaw while you rev it up. This helps

Someone could probably help better this was my experience though with the adepts. Reason for 2 maps in Leatherface was I almost adepted on Springwood, but one guy Keyed out leaving me 1 point off. Haddonfield I used the long fences for the saw downs.

Oni was running the super rare addon, and we all saw David spawning orbs. Yeah the game ended in 3 minutes because oni was able to see where we were and he was getting free orbs while no one was injured because david. No mother is a free win for oni.

    Just genrush like normal.

Wonder why oh well thanks for the clarification. Time to treat him as a better clown.

Removing bleeding doesn't stop blood orbs from spawning.

100% sure? My friend took me into a KYF to show the instadown speed and I never saw him drop Blood Orbs with Lucky Break on. Was only about 5 minutes though.

  • Bring Unbreakable. People need to learn to deal with a Oni. Lucky Break and No Mither literally nerf him. If you keep playing the same against newer killers as older ones your going to be underperforming. The newer Killers seem to be forcing Survivors to adapt anymore.

He gets 100 max blood orbs on the map and than they start with a cycle of oldest replaced for the newest ones.

A lot of SWF are also just friends playing casually. Everyone acts like any SWF is a Death Squad ready to destroy you the moment they spawn in.

  • @andyollolloll said:

I'm fine with SWF but SWF on comms?

This needs to be balanced for killers and solo survivors ASAP!!! When SWF came along nerfs and buffs became broken as people will abuse/cheat using comms.

Virtually all of them were streaming so checked their streams afterwards and the amount of information that they were giving each other makes it almost impossible for the killer, e.g. It's ghostface, do gens he is chasing me near killer shack, Ready with flashlight he's coming to pick me up, Ruin is where I am downed, Don't rescue me he is looking around here go heal the other...

I can only see buffing the solo surviors and killers to now balance this, give every suvivor the perk of in game comms and then buff killers... until then I can only see myself waiting in line as a survivor or not play the game :(

    Welcome to the big leagues.

    Jokes aside

Console players deal with this on a regular basis. You learn to adapt to it and work around it if you keep playing against SWF. SWF are a major reason I went from using Ruin to relearning killer from base.

  • Killer: Huntress

    Perks: Ruin, A Nurse's Calling, Discordance, BBQ&C.

    Addons: Depends on mood.

Playstyle: Aggressive. Even tho Huntress is my main on PC I didnt touch her till recently on PS4. Sometimes I want to post a video and get critiqued by console players because it always feels like I'm doing something wrong.

  • @Go_Go_Roboto said:

There are a few thing extremely wrong with this^^

DS is *meant* to counter tunneling. It is NOT a counter to not get countered by losing efficiency. That is redundant.

Getting hit by DS is not a 1:1 of You Tunnel:You Get DS'd- It is very easy for a survivor to do something that seems stupid just for the reason of using DS. It is very easy to hook survivor 2 after survivor 1 gets unhooked and down survivor 1 again before DS's timer runs out. It is 60-120 seconds of immunity.

You can believe DS is in a good spot or should be changed. Just don't be ignorant of it's uses in game.

    Edit:

Peanits, I love you man and you've said countless great things to steer public opinion on issues in the right direction, but slugging isn't a counter. It's delaying the inevitable in many situations. You'll have to be playing a very strong game or proxy camping the area the slugged survivor is on to make sure they do not get up. If you aren't playing the strongest game and getting great hook rotations on all the survivors, they're likely be a free escape or two at the end if many are running DS. Eating the DS is a better 'counter' in this situation.

Also, remembering who was hooked so you don't 'accidentally tunnel them' while their DS is active isn't a great solution either. If you happen to find or the recently hooked person happens to get a rescue on another survivor, you shouldn't be forced to not attack them/slug.

Some people replied with these things and I wanted to bring them to the front. Sorry for the edit!

I mean I dont tunnel against red rank survivors get a 4k pretty often. I have been hit by DS maybe in the single digits since it's rework.

    @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/898854#Comment_898854

You're not wrong, but I do think the key there is "forget in the heat of the moment". That is something you can work on to avoid that situation from happening. I've done it a few times, but these days, I play around that and don't fall for it as often.

Honestly only one person at a time should have DS active though.

Infinite time 1 time use on each hook, but if the person is last survivor or another person is hooked or unhooked it should be turned off.

  • The way Pig squeaks when you hit her with a stun and Huntress having a temper tantrum are the best the game has to offer.

Strange how the bloodweb ends up like that. I have like 50 ebony moris on my Wraith, but probably less than 5 ivories total.

    Agreed.

My Pig who after the bloodweb changes P3 50 All Perks has 15 Ebony Mori, 5 Ivory Mori, and 11 Cypress Mori.

My Spirit who was P3 50 All Perks Was Worked on before and after has 25 Ebony Mori, 4 Ivory Mori, and 16 Cypress Mori.

By reversing the rarity of Ebony and Ivory. The game becomes more balanced with a odd fix that won't create additional problems other than being a little weird. I stopped leveling after I got all perks because I learned to not use addons.

  • No thanks. Pink Rarity addons or offerings are something I try and avoid adding more is a worse idea considering they cost so much.

A Simple Fix is change rarity of the Ivory Mori (Rare) with the Ebony Mori (Ultra Rare). This will make it so Ebony is rare and hard to obtain while Ivory is more common.

I'm hoping someone more creative than myself will address Mindbreaker in this thread :)

    Mind breaker

While Repairing a Generator for less then 25% of its total repair progress you'll be afflicted by Exhaustion for 40/50/60 Seconds.

If a Survivor does not continue to work on a Generator they touch for 4/5/6 seconds. The Entity will block the Generator for 40/50/60 Seconds losing 15%/20%/25% of the full 80 seconds worth of progress while continue to regress afterwards.

If a Survivor touches a generator for less then 1/2/3 seconds they are affected by the hindered status of 3%/4%/5% until that generator full regression or completion. This can stack with additional Hindered Status.

To be honest, I for one feel that all Hex perks shouldn't reveal themselves via icons or notifications on the left hand side that tells survivors what hex they are cursed with. Consider Ruin for example: Do survivors really need anything more telling them that Ruin is affecting their gen progression other than the Red Skill checks, the "cursed" icon, or the zappy generator pause when hitting a good skill check? Do they really need a detailed notification on the left hand side telling them that Ruin is active and what level its at? Seriously, a lot of the information that the devs present us unnecessary hand holding, and offensively condescending to our earned gamer instincts. Huntress Lullaby is a sly perk that becomes more and more apparent as the game progresses, but having it revealed when survivors hit their first skillcheck just ruins the surprise, defeats its sly nature/purpose, and belittles our intelligence.

I have campaigned against this over-saturated transparency before, and will continue to do so until the devs finally accept us as the smart and capable gamers we are. We're not idiots devs! If something doesn't feel right we adapt quickly and figure it out on our own... You don't need to keep the "Training Wheels" Permenently on when you could do just fine with it for our first 50 hours of gameplay.

    Honestly I 100% agree.

Devs wouldn't listen anyways. How long have people wanted a legion buff, so they nerf him even more?

Devs care about one thing, the bottom line, and as such they rarely ever listen too the community.

They will if an entire community suddenly starts banding together in outrage. I mean legitimately band together in unison.

Honestly at this point I just want Legion to lose X% duration on a missed FF attack not his power.

  • One side is always upset or irritated by one thing or another. Nurse nerf and Balanced Landing nerf are definitely recent examples. While I do understand why both needed nerfs.

Nurse was really a down played rework and was a bit scummy in nature. Fundamentally she is the same, but realistically she is a lot worse than she used to be. In a game of time management with a killer who is naturally slower the recharge and fatigue is back breaking.

Balanced Landing was nerfed due to the abuse it held by a group of toxic players, but it is a symptom of a much worse problem. Poor map design. While it makes sense why they nerfed BL because no other Exhaustion perk can do stuff post during the exhausted state. This does not actually fix the root issue of bad map design where it could be abused.

At the end of the day both needed reworks, but both got a messed up solution because it's easier to throw a bandaid on instead of solve the core issue. While both sides continue to fight one another over issues instead of come together to force the Dev's to fix real issues.

Last time the community on both sides felt Spirit was overpowered on certain things. They attempted to fix some issues and still didnt directly deal with the real issues which was a lack of responsive feed back on the survivors side.

Never needed basekit nerf? When literally ignores all rules if this game. All they did was make it take 2 or 3 seconds more to double blink again. If they're that close you domt even need 2. You have a blink back before the fatigue is even over. Why do people ######### about this. I'm a killer main and I dont get it.

In a game of time management 2 or 3 seconds every few seconds is disastrous.

I agree not every killer deserves it and sometimes it sucks, I'm just saying it's not the god perk people act like it is.

No it's not a god tier perk I agree. It's a great perk regardless, but a lot of people lean on it instead of taking the time to learn how to play killer. I see a lot of mediocre killers lose or be at high ranks because Ruin carried them through.

People blindly follow Streamers/Other Killers who say Ruin is required to play killer. While I do agree to a extent I dont think that more then 1 to 4 Killers need it. Sure it's useful while learning a Killer though is that all there is too killer Ruin and 3 perks?

So how do you teach someone how to properly apply pressure if they have replied on perks like Ruin and the Spirit Fury Enduring Combo?

Obviously not talking about dailies lol. Since the Archive is a new thing.

Though honestly, I totally forgot about them. 🤫

I said nothing, nothing at all was all you *walks away whistling*

  • Hex: Huntress Lullaby

Great Skill checks no longer provide progress. Hex: Huntress Lullaby does not show up for survivors until 5 tokens have be gained Hex: Huntress Lullaby wont have a visual prompt that it's active. Can still be found normally lit up.

Each Skill check failure results in 4%/5%/6% Generator regression.

1-4: Time between the Skill Check warning sound and the Skill Check becomes shorter with each token. Adds 1 second to restarting gens with each missed skill check. When Hex: Huntress Lullaby is destroyed it reveals the Aura of all Survivors who were not touching the Hex Totem when destroyed for X seconds where X is your token count.

5: No Skill Check warning and each failure delays process restart by an additional second. When Hex: Huntress Lullaby with 5 tokens is destroyed exposed is applied all survivors for 40/50/60 seconds.

Hex: Huntress Lullaby wont be active with other Hexs.

It really do be like that sometimes. I had a night where EVERY SINGLE GAME had a mori, and the one that didn't ended up being a tombstone Myers 🤣

That plot twist at the end D:

The fact that some survivors have exploited bugs in the past—while equally scummy—is not an excuse for killers to be freely exploiting the basement bug... and acting like it's their God-given right to do it at that, just because they got hit with a DS their last game. (Pro tip: you can literally counter DS by not tunneling. Wild, I know.)

Stop making excuses for cheap exploits. It's garbage *no matter who does it* the end.

**Edit: Since some people struggle with reading comprehension, let me clarify some things:

    1. I'm aware it's patched. It wasn't when I wrote this—but that wasn't the point.

    2. I'm in no way implying that all or even most killers abused the bug. Also not the point.

    3. This isn't about the bug itself, or even the fact that it was exploited. This is about the attitudes I've seen from people who admitted to exploiting the bug on purpose to "punish" survivors as a whole... because some of them abused bugs in the past. Because for one, you're probably not "punishing" the same survivors who exploited said bugs, and for two, that's insanely childish and you should probably grow up if you think that way. I'm not sorry for saying that.

    4. I'm not a survivor main. I play both. I also don't run DS as survivor. I only brought it up because someone else used it as a justification for exploiting the basement bug and I was pointing out how silly it sounded.

So... If you're not of the opinion that one side doing it is okay because the other has done it before... then congratulations, this wasn't about you and you aren't required to take it personally and make butthurt comments as if I insulted your mother or something. 😊

While I do agree with you

DS has a 60 second timer meaning it is possible to be doing well and get hit by DS because you over performed or are in a situation where you are forced to get them because they force a locker spam for the entirety of DS.

Sometimes a killer didnt deserve the DS strike, but as I say to a killer whenever I'm downed and grabbed with DS active "say no to tunneling" even if they honestly were not.

the game isn’t ruined if one body blocks. you can just down the body blocker instead. camping at 5 gens isn’t justifiable, especially if i did nothing to upset the killer, and especially if a challenge is encouraging them to do so. i think it’s more of a problem with the devs making challenges that encourage camping.

Not exactly true. During EGC one can BT a teammate off body block for one another and DS. Its entirely unfair as well.

Both sides do some extremely unfair and unfun tactics.
