  • Never used it, but I feel like Hangman’s Trick may be a little underrated for some reason…

I think this is one of the main problems. MMR was always a pile of shite for Solo queue survivors. Devs refuse to do a damn thing about face camping/tunneling at 5 gens which is almost always a guaranteed loss for solos. Then the system dictates you aren't that skilled, and you go down, with less skilled survivors. Rinse, repeat, soon you're in MMR hell, able to loop a newer Killer for days but it doesn't matter because your team mate aren't doing generators anyways. They're creeping around the map and hiding behind rocks.

Another bad side effect of the MMR system (and how it only take into account kills/escapes) is that eventually decent Solo queue players get sucked into the low MMR vortex then matched with new Killers who then d/c (don't blame them really, it's frustrating).

As of late, I notice being matched with Killers who are obviously very skilled, while the Solo team is a mish mash of experience. One team member is competent, the next team mate is default Meg with all yellow Meg perks (a month in), etc.

I think it's that the Devs either can't or won't recognize that they keep buffing/nerfing both sides according to Killer vs SWF dynamic. Solo queue is the cannon fodder they ignore, but there's actually quite a lot of solo queue players.

This. Exactly this. Someone who gets it.

  • Personally I put it third- behind Dead Hard and Sprint Burst, respectively. Comes in handy when you zoom off towards a strong loop, or an area where there are no gens and only 1 gen left to do. If the killer insists on pursuing you there, then you punish hard (unless it’s Nurse). If it’s Nurse, then you just die like usual. 😂

  • It’s not the killer. It’s matchmaking. It’s horrendous every new update. Waaay too many good killer players vs. the endless sacks of potatoes you get as a teammates. I’d rather have longer que times if it means I get some fellow mid-mmr teammates for a change, instead of scaredy cat newb casuals in low mmr, who are too afraid to do Pinhead’s lament box. 😑

Someone made this exact same topic yesterday. People are going to play how they want, the killer is irrelevant.

This. I’m disappointed in this misleading, thread. I really do think he’s cool. Op getting tunneled has nothing to do with the introduction of the Dredge.

  • It really is a nice charm. I have it on Makela’s new outfit.

  • What killer did you play last on there?

  • A lot of new & returning players. I attribute it to that.

  • I know nothing about programming, but I imagine sets are created to avoid clipping- especially with older cosmetics. It’s probably the way the wire frames are created with sets. From us looking on the outside it may look doable, but if they allowed it we may end up with more monstrosities like that dude’s head on Cheryl body (shivers). Or worse, that nightmare fueled clown with only a mask for a head and glowing eyes (shrieks).

They’d probably have to invest a lot of time to make sure each piece plays nice with everything currently in game, and everything to come moving forward. F13, GTAO, and quite a few other games have sets as well.

  • I don’t agree with this. Like someone said on the previous page, it usually does take some tact to get one of the gates fully opened on a killer who closed hatch. That, and a little bit of luck. It goes both ways- sometimes there’s a hill where the killer can stand and get a clear view of both exit gates, and sometimes both gates end up on the same wall a few feet down from each other. Then you have killers like Trapper, Hag, & Twins, who can force survivors to reveal their location early. There’s alway “No Way Out” to make sure they don’t get out. If someone had 3 potatoe teammates, lost the hatch to RnG, and managed to finesse the exit gate open, then they deserve to get a W for their troubles. Well, that’s just my opinion anyway. This is coming from a solo que survivor main, so yea there is some bias. 😆

  • Sorry to hear.

Wow, not looking good for Dredge- there is a thread on Nightfall bothering some people visually.

  • Oof. Sorry to hear. I’m sure y’all are not the only ones. That’s too bad if BHVR has no choice but to change it, cause it’s a pretty cool effect and I like it a lot.

  • Our community keeps forgetting a lot of children and teens play this game. I too, make the mistake of assuming there is an adult behind EVERY DBD character. Not so.

  • @VaJaybles said:

Probably around 400 USD. Give or take.

I don’t know how much for cosmetics alone, but between cosmetics AND DLC’s, I estimate the same amount.

  • Yes. Like an absolute dumbass I will be buying it because I have nothing better to play, unfortunately. I’m part of the problem for what’s wrong with this game, recognize it, and I still give them my money. I should be ashamed but instead I’m numb.

  • Probably SWF’s sacrificing you to secure their escape. #removeSWF

  • @ad19970 said:

To be fair, arguably the biggest problem of solo queue is matchmaking. Obviously as solo survivor you don't have as much information compared to playing with an swf, but the inconsistent matchmaking is the biggest source of frustration I feel.

And that's something that can't be solved with balance changes, and the matchmaking sadly isn't that great.

This. Exactly this. Don’t give me 3 potatoe teammates to go up against a competitive plus competent killer, then expect me to carry. That’s NOT balance. If I get 3 potatoes, we should be vs. a potatoe killer.

  • Boon: Reincarnated- when snuffed out, boon will relight itself within 30 secs without any sound notification, once per trial, and can not be snuffed out (blocked by entity) for 2 mins. Any other boon status’ associated with snuffed boon, will return when boon is relit. Also 50/75/100% BP for any objective completed within boon’s aura

  • It’s definitely clutter like someone above mentioned, however I say still leave it so those who know the map well will notice when it’s gone, and won’t bother trying to loop the adjacent window. They’ll also be ready if the killer tries to cut them off on certain maps, when breaking the wall.

  • Good thread, @Mazoobi . I salute you guys as well. Y’all the real MVP’s. Especially the ones who do not try to Kobe last second, thus giving us a few extra precious seconds to get to the exit gates, once the last gen pops. You guys are not alone- I too, do the same for y’all.

  • @RisingTron said:

Whenever someone does this, sometimes I just stand there and let them get to 2nd phase because I'm feeling petty.

More of us need to do this. You pulled me off a gen while the killer is running PGTW & PR just to be an idiot. Bunch of Immature content creator sheep imitating one in particular, and his friends. Let the person who is taking a risk, get the points for unhooking you. Plus they may have Deliverance and need it.

  • Never trust a killer that stands near the hatch. If they are genuine about it, they don’t need to be right next to it. Same goes for if they carry you over and drop you a few feet away from it. They’ll just have you crawl over and close it in your face. Same goes for exit doors. Just stand still and look at them or shake your body “no.” If you really want to test their intentions, point for them to move away until your comfortable with how far they are. If they don’t move far enough not to make it to the hatch or down you before you can get close to it, then don’t bother. Don’t give them the satisfaction.

  • I made a silly joke about a content creator dropping their mmr and that got deleted?? It was a joke! Jeez no fun zone, huh.

  • No, that’s very odd. Are you on console with crossplay turned off?

  • If the remaining three are behaving themselves (no flashlight clicking/teabagging), then I’ll ease off the gas, get everyone down to death hook, then let them escape. Now if all 3 are really good at looping, taking hits/saving each other while gens are still getting done, then I’ll play as normal and let only the last one go, if possible. Now if it’s obvious as hell the survivor was being butthurt they got downed first within the first minute, I’ll just farm. It’s not fair to the other 3. The game is already ruined for everyone (myself included) before it even started. 😐

  • Agreed, however make it a toggled menu setting. You can select between default, delayed (sound every X seconds if survivor is spamming), or as you suggested- visual from there on out after second time.

  • A little too strong, but I can get behind this. Only two changes I would make would be to give the killer 4 tokens but take away gaining tokens after someone dies, and limit the aura reading of totems to within 32 meters. I think that would be strong but fair.

  • The second skill check hasn’t worked for months. It’s bugged.

Well, it says to aim for consecutive matches. In the "you will not receive a reward if"-section they don't list matches being not consecutive, only having submitted less than seven matches.

    ahhh ok. Thanks.

Honestly - as Survivor I am happy to see less Circle of Healings. And from my point of view, they are less. Because often enough I see teammates setting up their Boons instead of doing the last Gen.

No disrespect to our community, but a lot of us are sheep. I truly believe Freddy & Spirit are still very good killers, but because they were nerfed- no one wants to use them any more. They are still viable in low-mid MMR (where the majority of our base is), yet seldom used.

    No its bullshit

I have to say it over and over again so here we go

It takes 14 seconds to set up a boon. If the killer wants to snuff it :

    3 seconds detour

    2 seconds to snuff it

3 seconds to go back on track

8 seconds in total, meaning survivors won 32 seconds of gen time. And thatd if the boon is only 3 seconds away

"You dont see it often" no, just once per game. Every single game has at least one perosn with a boon.

And guess what, survivors dont need to bring multiples coh, one is enough since it gaves 1.5 perks to everyone

I think a lot of people are overreacting and COH is overrated IMO. I’ve seen players throw games lighting the same damn boon over and over after the killer snuffed it out for the 4th time already, instead of helping do a gen, in a 3 genned situation. I gave a long list of perks that would help alleviate the effects of COH, but no one wants to either Sacrafice one or two perk slots for it (if it bothers you that much, it’s worth it IMO- like Lightborn to flashlights), or ppl are being stubborn and just don’t want to experiment. Take Shattered Hope for example, BHVR is dropping a new killer with THREE OF HIS OWN perks PLUS giving SH as a GENERAL killer perk that can be taught to anyone straight off the bat. You don’t need to buy Dredge or the DLC for it. There’s a reason for that. That says a lot. I think it was made specifically with COH in mind. But yet everyone here is already writing it off, and it’s not even out yet. Y’all didn’t even give it a chance. But if your favorite content creator uses it, makes it optimal, then I bet everyone will sing its praises and use it. Then you have killers like Plague and Legion, who render healing practically USELESS (especially Plague). Killers have tools. Again, they shouldn’t nerf COH any more. Who is going to use it after that? Just another useless perk to clog up our inventory? They’ll just replace it with one of the Meta perks they used to have in that slot, then you’ll really have something to complain about.

LMFAO "Just accept it and learn to adapt." shame that theory doesn't work when its its the other way around did survivors Just accept it and learn to adapt to undying even with items and perks to help find totems, nope they complained till it got nerfed because it was unfun for them but now killers have to Just accept it and learn to adapt to it.

I literally gave an example of me hating Pain of Resonance and learning to adapt. I’m not even a fan of Scourge Hooks as a whole. Other players dislike other killer perks (NOED) but just accept it and cope. I believe Nurse is too strong and oppressive, but I don’t give up against her. I just deal with it and try my best to get better vs. her. She’s not fun to play against at all. At least COH can get snuffed out. With Nurse, YOU get snuffed out. 😆 Same was for pre-nerfed Spirit (they should have left her alone). But It is what it is. 🤷

The problem with this is that you have to submit for seven consecutive matches, regardless of how the matches went. If you have seven horrifically one-sided matches (and not in your favor), there's not going to be a lot that will explain what you're looking for in "fair" or "fun". Only what you believe to be terrible.

    @Carrow said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2979412#Comment_2979412

I submitted seven consecutive survivor games. 6 of them I didn't even get 10k bloodpoints and I had one measly fun match in there. They can fix their game any time they want.

I didn’t realize it needed to be consecutive! 🤦 Oof! Nvm mb.

  • @legacycolt said:

You can use the new perk that’s coming next week if circle of healing is bothering you that much

This. It’s called Shattered Hope. There’s also Thrill of the Hunt, Hex Retribution, Thanophobia, Nurse’s Calling, Sloppy Butcher, Coulrophobia, Undying, Pentimento, & Overwhelming Presence. These are counters to COH and some of these combo together really well. I truly believe SH will be the best counter, especially paired with Pentimento, Plaything, & Retribution.

COH is not as popular as it once was when first introduced, and it’s been nerfed twice already. One more nerf and it’ll be useless. We have too many useless perks for both killer & survivor as it is.

Just accept it and learn to adapt. I used to HATE Pain Resonance & Ruin, but I just learned to deal with both. To this day PR carries a lot of killers, but it is what it is. This is exactly why perks make DBD interesting & gives it replay ability. Some perk builds will counter other builds, have no effect, or even handicap you and put you at a disadvantage. Just try some of the combos next week & see what works best.

Met a lot great people and made a lot of friends from DBD. You included!

Lol that’s cool. Thought you were a streamer who makes DBD content. That’s usually a Twitch/Ytuber line.

  • Don’t just submit for the matches you don’t like, guys. Also submit for the ones you enjoyed. It’ll give them a better understanding of what we deem as fair.

  • Thanks guys!

Well there you go, @Molerat1223 - there’s your answer! Last time there was an influx of players was September of 2021! So yea, bunch of newbies and returning players since the announcement and blood hunt.

  • Don’t stress it too much. It’s kind of a high risk, high reward with a little bit of luck type of thing. Just treat it like any other time consuming challenge, and keep playing. Eventually you’ll get it within 24 hours or so.

  • @bm33 said:

Negative pips should no longer be a thing. Have it be 0 pip if someone doesn't do enough in a match, not negative pip. Grades are no longer used for matchmaking so there is no reason to keep negative pips in the game.

    Great point.

  • Hmmm no clue. Has anyone posted a Steam chart since the anniversary announcement & blood hunt began? I think that would be interesting to look at.

  • I say we delete SWF from public matches instead. That’ll solve a lot of problems. And no, the game will NOT die. They’ll have KWF mode.

  • I was under the impression that locking lockers only applied when The Dredge is the killer? Is that not the case?

  • @DrDeepwound said:

so if I 4k, I should not say GG.

I think what OP is saying is when you stomp a team, it’s not really a “good game.” Well, at least not for the opposing team. It’s borderline insulting to some. Like rubbing salt in the wound. Some people would just prefer the opponent say nothing at all when they dominate.

‘Unfortunately a lot of jerks have taken “GG” and turn it into a negative, which causes doubt in sincerity whenever someone says it.

I usually don't go to the gate after survivors if it's already open and I know they're waiting there, I'll usually go to the basement and wait for them to leave. Not giving them the satisfaction of looking at them works better for me too. And they won't come BM me there, cuz it's a dangerous ground for them and they have to leave.

Being a killer main can be tough, but when you survive through those countless bm matches and get that one wholesome survivor group, it's enough to make your day better and keep trying to play :D

    Smart. I do the same.

  • It’s SWF fault. They are the reason you guys are full of anxiety & the game is imbalanced for solo Que players. Are y’all ready to get rid of them yet??

The game will NOT die if they’re gone. Buffing solo Que is NOT the answer. They need to go from public matches. They can play with each other and suck each other off in Kill With Friends mode.

  • I miss the old ranking/matchmaking system. It was far from perfect, but I prefer it over MMR.

It’s funny how some of us (myself included) would complain about being a red rank 2 getting matched up with potato greens to vs. a red rank 1 killer, but at least it wasn’t as bad as it is now. MMR is much worse making what I suspect is this but more consistent, along with other headaches to boot.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2973614#Comment_2973614

Hatch not raising/lowering your MMR makes sense, it's a pity escape for losing

Before the nerf, it helped us solo Que survivors that the OP speaks of- team players who actually played well, but got stuck with 3 sacks of potatoes. That’s not a pity escape. I’d like to think that was implemented for us who did our best to carry the team, but our mates were too bad to give us all a fighting chance. It really feels bad when you go for proper safe hooks, do totems, run the killer, do the secondary objectives of certain killers (Pinhead), do gens etc. just for your teammates to muck it all up by being too scared to save each other/gens, not even look for devour/ruin, & pulling each other off in the killers face before he can take 3 steps.

Even after all that the hatch wasn’t a guarantee. You still had to find it first. I can’t tell you the amount of times I told myself out loud “damn, I deserved this escape,” after the b.s I just went through with the other 3. Now, it just feels like we get nothing for our troubles. Just “lucky to survive” and nothing more. MMR stays the same so potato salad again for the next match. Prob doesn’t matter any way since matchmaking is terrible and the range is increased vastly during off peak hours. But I’d rather it be a win. Could have been worse I guess, could’ve been completely removed.

  • I think it may have a decent chance of surviving. It fell out of the meta years ago. You still see it every so often (a little underrated IMO), but killers these days prefer just to anti-loop & slow down gens for more consistent success.

  • @KateMain86 said:

The hatch change was catastrophic for survivors. When I read about the change, I couldn't believe it. So many things changed when this happened. Incredible key plays (that were entirely conditional) and keys which had great value in many situations all of a sudden no longer could be used the same. Some of my most exciting matches were hatch plays before the change. I still don't understand why they felt it needed to be changed this much, to only potentially benefit the last survivor. My keys have basically turned into dust collectors. I think I've used less than 5 keys since this change and they were only used for addon testing to see if I could find a reason to use them again. Now I avoid them in the blood web if I can. I really miss the old hatch.

I found an “ok” use for them. It’s not the best, but I prefer it over bringing nothing: I use the purple key with yellow beads and blood amber(?) to see the killer’s aura. For the iri Key I just swap out the yellow beads for the brown version of it (rope?) You can also pair them up with the purple ring so you can see the obsession’s aura (helpful to know exactly where killer is when obsession is in chase, etc.) but i personally prefer to slap that purple ring on a broken key for better value.

This way your keys just don’t sit in your inventory being useless.
