Hi! Made an account for the forums to try and get a feel for what people think about mouse & keyboard being added to consoles?
Whilst BHVR have said it's not currently planned, I know that I personally prefer using mouse & keyboard inputs on a lot of the games on my Xbox - and DBD would be a very very welcome addition to this. The only potential issue I'd see would be having an advantage against other console players who aren't using M&K, but considering the game is crossplay and console players are already facing people using M&K, what's the difference?
I just feel like adding an alternative input method is a small but significant improvement to the QOL on consoles. (Of course, BHVR have things to prioritise development on before even looking at these kinds of changes, but the point of this post is just to see if people would agree or disagree with M&K on console)
TLDR;
Do you support the addition of mouse and keyboard support for consoles?
The devs said in their latest Q&A they have no plans to add this support to the consoles. The reasons given like two years ago were something like "it would take too long, require too much work, and require a UI overhaul as well."
Smells like never too me, so I wouldn't bet on seeing it happen.

My issue with her is the micro-freeze when teleporting, which robs me of the insta hits she lives on. Most likely due to to the game performance on my aging Xbox. Quite fustrating with her.
-
But...... boons.
You need a few more weeks for thier use to further drop. Then pull Penny out and have at it.
-
Aside from the bp bonus, I find the greatest impact of Prove Thyself is late game to break up a 3-gen. Against fast killers and Doc it is often the only way once a teammate or two is dead.
-
It's the result of the various UEA's with the consoles. They contractually cannot put out platform-specific numbers about anything, hence why the data that is released is vague af.
When the RE Chapter came out the PlayStations themselves had just about caught PC/Steam in playerbase size, and are still the largest chunk of the consoles. That chapter greatly hurt all console numbers and I wonder how many that left then have returned, but combined the consoles still vastly outnumber PC, as is true for most ported big games.
Steam's numbers and fluxuations are only so useful for info, because it's only a snapshot of the bigger picture, but is also all we have.

Facing in the main hall, up left, turn left, turn right. Years of playing both RE2's allow me to greatly enjoy this map. The tiniest of minorities.

I play solely as killer and I think there is a place for SWF. Hear me out…
A) it should have its own playlist with its unique rules, add ons and perks.
b) it should award higher blood points if you choose to play it.
c) this SWF playlist would also introduce items like a walkie talkie. Could also be countered with killer add ons or perks, hexes etc. The coms could lose reception if you’re too far away or the killer somehow disrupts communication or you drop it after getting slugged.
d) if survs don’t equip or find a radio, then they should only be able to hear each other if they’re within earshot of one another. This goes for killers too. A killer should be able to hear you based on proximity.
I think this would make it more fun for both sides if done right. Thoughts?
Why wouldn't the survs just use the comms that are outside of DBD, which the devs have zero control over?
-
Sounds like i can't do any of that from my Xbox. Da fuk is a VAC bann?

@snowflake102 said:
How about just disabling voice chat for swf so it's fair for killers since all that voice chat does is give away the killers location which puts you as killer as a disadvantage when players are using voice chat. Plz remove voice chat.
There's no way the devs could enforce this. If they lost their minds and tried they'd be breaking laws and contracts.
I play on on console on Xbox, and the party chat is separate from whatever game we might be playing. Could even be different games. So the devs couldn't know if comms are in use anyway. And I believe Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the chats in any way.
Unenforceable.
-
They stated during their latest Q&A they have no plans to add the chat box or add keyboard support for the consoles.

A killer is faster than a survivor. However, the killer has a bigger hitbox as the survivor, which means that a survivor can hug a wall and loop said wall in a much smaller circle than the killer. This completely negates the killers speed advantage to a point where killers are required the additional speed boost of bloodlust in order to catch up.
Ironically, that 9 foot tall killer can be body blocked by a 90 pound claudette. When he would really shove her away. But thats a whole different thread.
As to your last point, I can totally see a Jeff blocking my Amanda Panda easily, while half of the survs dwarf any Legion. Prolly take at least two of em to hook Jane up! ;)
But yeah the physics of some lil Fengs or Felixes doing a damn thing to a moving Oni is absurd.
-
Most good Wraths ran a hit & run style that boons basically pooped on, and with his uncloak lunge recently reduced he's a lot weakened these days.
Once you get used to him bodyblocking ahead of you, plan ouy your chases, and get better listening for his crackling sounds you will have happier results.

The last patch was about 26gigs for my Xbox1x, and took just over 40 minutes.

Definitely, I'll laugh maniacally when it happens, I could even think "oh cool, you are smart enough to tunnel the people who just lost DS".
naw I meant being tunneled through a successful ds stun
-
@fulltonon said:
As a killer, I'd love to see DS removal and happily tunnel out you.
Oh wait, I will tunnel you out anyway even with DS.
And I bet that feels wonderful to you when you play as a surv

Sadly I haven't streamed DBD in over a year, where i used to move the Twitch vods to my YouTube. My Xbox1x can no longer run DBD and stream internally from its Twitch App at the same time.
I have no idea how to move a clip I ask the Xbox to make anywhere else, and I own no PC.

Ah right. Im gonna count days not work days. Keep them entertained and aware if issue
Just avoid bumping the thread, if you really want this to stay up.

Since the last patch I've noticed even worse performance in the menus themselves, worse than normal frame drops and not just in the bloodwebs either.
When navigating around the store it is especially noticeable, and the archives & rift are slower as well.
As far as in-game, Lithe and vaults in general seem to freeze up the game worse now and of course all of the old known triggers still exist.
-
The devs don't work weekends. And I believe the mods don't as well, just do emergencies here and there.
More controller options has been asked for many times in the past, so they know. Sad there's been no update to them since double sensitivity was added like two years ago or therabouts.
-
The killer lock is due to MMR, as they track killer and lobby together apparently.
-
Remember folks the mobile version is done by an entirely different team, and was completely recoded from the ground up. Lots of these admittedly very cool things cannot be done on our version, or are at least are a ways off due to the coding.
@jesterkind said:
Seeing your teammate's perk loadouts pre-game is a really good addition that I desperately hope the PC version gets soon.
I would hope it gets added to us consolers as well. If they're serious about getting solos closer to swf than this is a must imo.

thats a core part of how to play those killers in any meaningful way against high mmr survivors.
I agree, just waiting for someone to ask for such nurfs as well. I can feel it coming...
-
Imagine peeps wanting to not allow Myers or poor poor Ghostface to 99 their stalks and force them to degrade over time...
-
Since killers are locked into a lobby due to mmr, they'd have to unlock that first.

Is there any way for behavior to transfer my dlc from xbox one to pc? I literally havent touched this game since i got a new pc for the simple fact nothing transfers over from xbox one....Ive spent 100+ dollars on this game in DLC, skins, and all of the season passes not to mention all of the time ive spent on characters leveling and bloodpoints earned. Over 100+ days played on console yet nothing to show for it on pc...Biggest disappointment is i get no answers about cross play and if its even a posibility in the future. I just dont understand how every other game on xbox game pass has cross progression and transfers your stats to pc but DBD doesnt...even thought im still using xbox game pass to play it on pc??
They know it's badly wanted, but cannot say when or even if Cross Progression will ever happen.
It was asked yet again during their last Q&A and there is no further update sadly.

Just a mere 26G for my Xbox! :)

not sure if I'd use the same wording, but yes I do appreciate how much effort there is that has to be put into reporting and how recording is not that easy for everyone.
Wait a minute, help me understand something here please;
Our dear Switch cousins had their ability to record matches turned off some months ago. How on earth are they to report properly and fully a hacker/cheater with any hope of it succeeding?

I see a lot of threads about nerfing camping and giving solo queue more information so they are closer to swfs, but I rarely see what people are willing to give killers in return. I'd love to hear your ideas (with the exception of just buffing ghostface/legion - not trying to hear that at all lol).
If any changes are made, it would likely be fine tuning each killer's power individually. As for blanket changes to benefit all killers, a few could be:
1. Adjusting surv spawns so they all start near each other, and also not begin with their teabags already dragging on top of a totem or gen.
2. Trim the few remaining oversized maps. Crotus, Red Forest, and maybe Ormond come to mind, while the RPD is likely to need its own thread.
3. Reach Bloodlust teir 3 quicker. I have no problem with the times for getting BL tier 1, just to 3 to finish off rhe chase quicker at that point.
4. Just tossing out a nugget for those select few missing him, resurrect the splinter offering for old Freddy.

so basically its actively being worked on with no guarantees results?
Look at it from all points of view. The devs know we want it and broach the topic to Sony and Microsoft (Nintendo situation belongs in its own thread), basically sayng "yeah some of our gamers fervently want to leave your platforms and take their money elsewhere please."
I'm assuming the devs word it better than that, but it's the root of the problem: a deal handling compensation for possible lost future revenue that is acceptable for all sides.
Yuck.

The game literally came out 3 years after the Console's did.
And Xbox1x's came out in 2018 as well, plenty beefy enough for this game with tweeked coding.
Also, thank you @Pulsar for continuing to beat this drum! :)

The difficulty and fustration inherent in the killer role is a real factor, especially over the last year or so. Throw in the dread of making just one mistake against good players dooming you, and it's a lot to handle.
As far as visibility in these forums goes, we also need to remember the timeframe of this game and the platforms.
DBD was out for like two years before being ported over to the consoles, so a lot of vetran players come from PC, and as far as I can tell most regulars here are PC as well. Now remember most killers are also from PC (reasons for that are another thread entirely) despite the consoles collectively making up the larger playerbase by far.
So the oldest players from the harder role (imo) are also the most vocal too. Makes sense to me.

His recoil, also his knife throwing isn't centered. So you have to adjust aim left to right and back again almost every time you throw. It feels really clunky and bad to play.
This. There seems to be no pattern to his recoil for me. It's not left shoulder then right shoulder, and the rise and fall aren't consistent either. It feels all over the place, and quite impossible to group shots while staying on target. Kinda fights ya.
-
They've repeatedly stated they have no plans to add game modes to DBD. The custom settings you mention will prolly have to wait for DBD2, if that ever happens.
-
There's the issue of typing stuff out with a controller, takes years. Also there are multiple languages to consider, and those who choose not to use voice would be at a disadvantage and even get ridiculed from their teammates for not joining.
I bet it never comes to DBD.

No way it's sooooo open to abuse

I started playing over a year ago when the Twins theme was the main dbd theme, and ever since Day 1, my buddies and I constantly have to ask each other if we see each other readied up because more often than not, 1 person glitches out and we cant find a lobby but if we all dont restart DBD none of us will ever find a game. At 2am this is what is commonly referred to as a "buzzkill".
I'm not making a bug report, I'm just curious if windows store/epic/steam gamers have to deal with this too?
Q times are bad enough without this to begin with
The lobby being broken like you describe has been painfully common for me and my buds for over a year now, and yes we're on Xbox or PS.
Maybe it is a a console thingy not sure.

5.0.0 literally killed the game on Consoles (the majority of the playerbase) for over a month and a half.
It was #########.
This. The RE chapter came the closest yet to killing off the consoles completely and utterly. Whatever residual good came along with that patch could not possibly balance that scale out.
The subsequent scramble to "fix" this patch no doubt pushed back or shoved aside most of whatever else was being worked on like no chapter before or since had done. I bet they're still behind their own schedules due to it.
-
Sadly they stated during both of their last Q&A streams they have no plans to add M&K support to the consoles.
