This honestly needs an emergency patch.
I believe they said the fix has been submitted for approvals to all the various platforms, so prolly waiting for that.

Or give killers the option to opt out of SWF. You can't have one person go against 4 mans on comms.
Players freely toss around the notion this and that will kill off this game, but actually removing SWF is one of those things that would. Being able to opt out of SWF would kill queue times for everyone, and those groups would likely never get a match.
The last stats put out about such things showed around half of all survs in at least a two-man SWF, with trio and quads much less common. And altogether all groups don't escape that more often outside of the mythical with MMR area. It's in that tiny portion of the playerbase that it truly matters, as most things are broken with the best of the best using them.

It's probably been over a year since I've succesfully pallet-stunned a Wesker, Bubba, or Billy while they were using their power, and not for a lack of trying. Worse yet, this feels like a Survivor-exclusive problem. When I play Killer, I hit Survivors through pallets all the time.
Have Killers been given priority on the backend?
Below is a clip demonstrating what I'm frequently encountering. I've been on both sides of this scenario way too many times to count.Note: I play on a wired connection with pretty standard internet speeds, and the other players I encounter typically have stable ping. The killer in this clip appeared to have a stable connection, based on everything else I witnessed in this trial.
As for smacking Bubba while in tantrum, that takes pretty precise timing with a pallet, which of course is at the mercy of ping, latency, and the whims of the games coding.
It's been years since I smacked a Billy, and I don't believe I've ever hit a Wesker in power tbh.

The amount of lag right now is crazy. For awhile I thought it was my internet but then I noticed everyone else was also having this rubberbanding issue. On top of the lag it feels like there’s so many collision spots you get stuck on that just didn’t exist before on a couple maps.
BHVR does not work on weekends, with minimal staff to do things like emergency Killswitchings only. Most of their patches come out on Tuesdays so most likely then, but with the seriousness of the strobing effect problem maybe on Monday I'd say.

So I could just block every single person that beat me?
This would be an absolute disaster if this was ever implemented.
This.
Any player blocking feature would be soooooo open to abuse, even a limited fashion, and queue times would also suffer. Nope.

I mean for a short time a certain MMO was doing a game-branded promotion with Razr who makes computer mice with all kinds of macro features, but then they started banning players who used those very game-branded mice's macro features, as the game does not allow the use of macros. Of course, this caused a huge uproar in the community, and so they ended the partnership with Razr. So technically BHVR COULD technically crack down on those using equalizers just as they could crack down on those using Discord, but that's a can of worms they don't want to open as other companies have done so in the past, and it didn't go well for them.
I agree such banning won't go over too well. Dunno about Discord stuff, but how could they do a thing about comms on the consoles? They're built-in and independent of whatever game is being played. I've been in a chat party where we were playing three different games! 😜
-
Direct cheating to me would be messing around with game files for advantage, but ultimately it's up to the devs to determine what goes or not. Now things like equalizers and filters etc. cannot be really detected let alone controlled by them, nor comms for that matter. How could they enforce anything along these lines?
Visuals and especially sounds are so important to DBD gameplay, and the devs have spent countless hours & resources to get the game where they want it to look and sound. Players going around all that purposely just feels wrong, and to those who cannot mess around with these things very very unfair. To someone on Switch reading for example about "this at 60 frames and that at 120 frames" it can feel downright criminal.
Sadly issues like this widen the disparity between the game experience across the platforms, which is already disproportionately large for DBD. But again, unenforceable.

New thing that i noticed, when you drop a survivor when you play killer, it drops him at your feet and no next to you, you can no longer even drop survivors in holes in the ground, no more fun in this game …
I think that's leftovers from the new DS animation they messed around with but didn't let go live.

Why is Xbox the only system that didn't get the new achievement for finding the easter egg on yamoka estate?
As an achievement hunter who has 100 percent in dbd I gotta say, I absolutely loved it today when my achievement hunting friends on crossplay all got together and got their achievement and I got left out because for whatever reason bhvr has decided Xbox can get shafted
And furthermore, why do playstation and steam have anon mode but Xbox don't?
The implementation of their Anonymous Mode violated some of Microsoft''s policies, and it was removed after like two weeks or so. I don't believe it will return sadly.

The PlayStations all can use it, and so can those on Switch. It's just Xbox that cannot.

I remember when I started playing DBD back in 2019 when a friend of mine asked me to play with him ( I will never forgive you for that Arthur ). At that time I didn't even know this game existed or what it was about. So we set up a day to play a bunch of different games and DBD was in the middle of them but on the scheduled day he couldn't show up due to an unforeseen event, so I decided to take a look at the game to at least understand it a little when we were going to play.
In the past, it took too long to find matches, which almost made me abandon the entire game. My first game was quite interesting for a player who knew nothing about the game. so I decided to play survivor first and the first survivor I choose (0 surprise for some) was Feng Min but why? because she was cute. I didn't even know what the perks were for, so I just chose them based on their appearance.
So the game started and what was the first map that appeared to me? the Swamp, the scariest map for a beginner player and who was the first killer I faced? a baby nurse lol.
Do you realize how scared I was in my first game? playing on the darkest and scariest map against a Baby nurse who was screaming the entire game and who also had no idea what she was doing. I stayed in the lockers 90% of the time lol good times.
For a beginner at that time, the game was pure horror, which made me fall in love and stay with it to this day. The game has its flaws but if you're still here today that means it matters to you.
Turns out my friend stopped playing years ago and I'm stuck here to this day.
If you want to know a little about my first killer game, know that the first killer I choose was the doctor. At that time he was quite complicated since he had that two modes between therapy and punishment. so I didn't know anything about what I was doing so I ended up not killing anyone in my first game, I was furious and I never played killer again for 3 months.
I was basically that annoying main survivor who complained about everything about the other side without really knowing them. how embarrassing.
I recall being on comms and asking what Exposed meant as I stood still with my brand new Dwight behind a huge rock on an old blue McMillan's. Until informed I thought the Myers could see me no matter where he was or I was, plus was one tap too, as a teammate went down across the map. Took a while to shake off that tendency of hesitation.
Still not the most skillful surv out there, but I have come a long way since then. I do feel sorry for new players starting out these days though, so much to learn and absorb.

to be fair, people not following the forums wouldn’t know about that. The field for id of the reported player in the form is still there and not optional..

Many around here but not heavily playing the game still have a passion for the game, interest in proposed changes, ideas they'd still like to see made, and especially for me useful knowledge about the game to share.
There's also a couple of kindred souls around we look forward to interacting with as well, hear what they have to say.

definitely if the survivor has deliverance, they should get a few seconds to unhook themself. rewards intentionally going down to buy teammates time to escape, gives you a chance to run to a gate. other than that i think it's unnecessary, wouldn't object to it but also wouldn't care if they never changed it.
This is my feeling as well. Keep everything as it is now, just allow Deliverance to work then if it's activated.

Whenever I get this message I restart my modem and my console, sometimes a couple of times, to clear it.

He’s easily the killer with the worst addons in the game
His only good addons are wax doll (yellow addon) and burning man painting (green addon) and they both do the same thing which is slightly increase your POTD range
The rest of his addons are garbage and useless and I’d do anything for them to change his addons
I even couldn’t believe it when they reworked one his addons back when they were nerfing mangled (probably the only thing I liked about the mangled nerf patch)
The range add-ons for Pyramid Head are pretty much his best, and he's much less satisfying to play as without them. You're right the rest of his add-ons are kinda uninspiring.

I am asking as I bought this game by myself and I was interested in it because when I bought it, it was advertised as a game where there is no communication between players, so it was very shocking to find out you can make premade parties.
People state this game isn't playable unless you are playing in a premade party.
I didn't see that it was a feature until playing over 100 hours, I assumed it was only for custom games.
I am at the point of the game where now it's pretty much impossible to escape, and it seems like it's impossible to counter most killers and perks without communicating. But winning as killer is way way too easy which for me isn't normal if this is really a solo game.
I want to know if it's balanced around SWF so I can permanently quit the game if that is the case. I now see everyone say don't play the game unless you are playing with other people. If the developers are basing their balances only on SWF, then this game should be advertised as a party game and playing solo is optional but not recommended. I liked the game at the beginning, but the matches are unbearable now. I feel like I wasted all my money because I've reached the point where now matches are not playable unless you use comms. Hope devs see this and decide what type of game they want it to be and to make it clear, so people dont fall into the trap.As far as I can tell the game is balanced around both sides not playing too optimally, with chaos all over the place.

And I suppose you speak of your experience using it?
Let's see …
- Hex (bones, anyone?)
- Only used during a short time in the end game
- Easily guessable because the killer has played with only 3 perks for the whole match
- That makes its own totem visible soon after it activates so even the most inept survivor can find it easily.
Oh yeah, that spells certain death. 🤣
Seriously, who has got an issue with NOED after a couple hundred hours?
The vast majority of the playerbase does not have even a couple of hundred hours
-
With my controller I long ago had to separate some of the button bindings to mitigate not throwing pallets when near vaults and lockers, but many players do not do this, or don't know they even can.

I know of one definite way to end lobby shopping & dodging completely, and that's get rid of lobbies altogether. I realize this limits the info the killer gets and consider changes to their builds, but the other problems it would solve may be worth it.
Gone would be prestige bias, gone would be sifting through profiles, gone would be last-second survs swapping nonsense, and gone would be backfilling.

This is exactly what would happen if they disabled/removed Aim Dressing,. Especially with smaller statute killers like Freddy and Legion etc. Combined with latency and the game's coding, there would be so many animations that just look reteched and wildly missing their mark.

At the same time decent killers get put against bad players and it's just not even remotely fun/challenging. I would rather have consistently challenging matches where I know what I'm getting into.
If it's consistent and stable matchmaking you wish for, then something effective needs to be done about lobby dodging & shopping. That is the biggest problem the MMR system has right now, the awful backfilling issues that lead to the wildly mismatched players.
But each time this community is asked whether they want quicker queue times or quality matchmaking, the resounding answer has always been queue times. The masses always want fast queues, while the best players don't want to always go up against each other either. So here we are.
-
@sinkra said:
Please I'm so sick of this broad MMR system matching me with players who don't do gens and seem like they just installed the game an hour earlier. I would rather play a ranked mode with tight matchmaking, even if it takes longer to find good games. For people who just want to play chill with fast games they can do the casual mode.
Last time they made the MMR stricter several months back the better players did indeed get matched with each other way more often. And guess what they discovered? That the sweats going up against the sweats repeatedly became less and less fun. The more stressful it became the worse it got, and wait times did increase as well.
The backlash from this made them lessen the MMR back to about where the soft cap was prior.

BHVR acknowledges these problems but just refusing to get them resolved, stop wasting your time on those reworks, look at those posts in ptb section, 90% are not happy with your genius ideas. There's tons of bugs/issues waiting to be resolved : )
How could they even know if a player is using a VPN in the first place?

Players use third-party sites for years to view their own statistics and leaderboard. Why can't we just see this information in the game itself? You don't have to spend years thinking about adding simplest things that are in any similar game. I don't understand how Netease makes a bunch of useful changes to mobile game at the click of a finger, but main game has to wait years to see something as simple as teammate's perks in game.
The mobile version recoded the game from the ground up, and Netease is an entirely separate team. That's why they were able to add in many cool things that the PC/Console version does not, and may never have.

If a killer doesn't plan out which hooks will be used up they risk a dead zone for hooking.
I mean, outcome for this is often worse for survivors. If they notice and start running there, I am going to bleed them out.
They are not going to win by this (most likely). It happened once, where they won, because it was The Game and they had Exponential boon, I am pretty sure it was their goal tho.
Only case where this is true are Scourge hooks, but those could just be replaced by normal hook when survivor dies there.I don't see removing hooks has any benefit for the game.
And that's on those survs if they do constantly go to such a zone, and the play is to indeed bleed em.
-
@krazy_ivan said:
Whether by chance or used as an exploit by bully squads, survivors can perma-deny hooks after a hook is consumed in a map corner and by using 4 petrified oaks and by using other hook-denying perks. This sometimes leads to standoffs and survivors holding the game hostage and refusing to participate in normal gameplay only to deny the killer further hook states.
I suggest if a consumed hook is farther than a certain radius from other hooks it will have a 1-time respawn after the usual sabotage-cooldown period, this way there's still a possibility to use a hook in a dead zone while at the same time not giving the killer unlimited hooks.
I look at hooks for killers just like the gens for survs, a resource to be managed.
If the survs don't plan some for which gens get done, they risk a nasty 3-gen setup making their lives much harder. If a killer doesn't plan out which hooks will be used up they risk a dead zone for hooking. Rng effects both in terms of possible spawns, and true they should be monitored in map generation, and yes there are some spots that need tinkering on certain maps. But overall killers need to keep in mind which hooks get consumed.

Direct tunneling to me is hard focusing one surv until they are sacrificed or otherwise dead, to the exclusion of all else. Number of gens done is irrelevant in this case.
An example is being in chase, and immediately dropping it to return to the unhook, then follow the unhooked through any endurance/bodyblock/etc. and down & re-hook. Repeat until dead. This would include not really patrolling gens or commiting to a chase, once that unhook occurs.
Now I feel many believe the killer immediately going back to the unhook is tunneling, whether the rescuer defends that surv or not. And that action of the killer stopping what they're doing and returning to the unhook (often strategically and/or tactically correct) happens most of the time during regular gameplay. In my experience of course.
Obviously region and MMR and time of day all are interconnected as to who sees this type of tunneling frequently, as does all other forms of tunneling. But it's that feeling of being focused that sticks with survs the most, just like really bad matches will too.
So what we're talking about here is an emotional response, plus definitions that are all over the place. Good luck sorting that out.

I'll throw up a map offerings as a surv when I get back to back to back indoors in a row and just wanna break that up. Never used them as a killer, but I also haven't run a map-dependent build either.
The offerings themselves aren't the issue, it's the imbalances of the maps that need attention imo. As @GeneralV said they've cleaned up most of the worst offenders over time, so there's really only a couple of problematic ones left.
