Oh yes quite the rollercoaster!

I though they said it would require a massive amount of lengthy work, and to recode the game from scratch as well?

Do you happen to have a crush on Claudette, the way that I do for Nancy?
Of course, dearest friend. She is perfect, I love her!
Easily the best survivor in the game.
As for Nancy, I played her a bit when the chapter released. I don't really like Stranger Things, to be honest, but she is a good character.

Quite a surprise, is it not?
;)
For you my friend:
-
I still remember my very first match as a brand new Piglet.
Sent to old old Haddonfield by a decent 4-man. They took my baby Ruin. They took my wallet. They even took my left shoe. Gens done in no time. No hooks, and I think three of them had Balanced Landing too. I distinctly recall then all slowly bowing their heads in unison on one of those second floor overhangs facing the street.
They messaged me after because we all were on Xbox back then, wondering how they got a killer with like 30 hours-ish something like that. Which for me was all on Surv, and that blood spent on Hag to get that baby Ruin in the first place.

Thought this would be a fun thing to do to think back to our entire history of playing this game. Everyone’s tastes change overtime so we end up shifting our characters a lot. These lists are based off how much you think you have played each character on both roles in your entire time playing DBD, not how much you like each character currently. Make sure recency bias doesn’t get in the way.
I will start with mine:
Survivor:
- Yui
- Claudette
- Meg
- Zarina
- Jill
- Feng
- Yun-Jin
- Mikaela
- Laurie
- David
Killer:
- Spirit

We don’t know what BHVR did. They might have removed the secondary collision detection mechanic, which would be a big nerf for Blight.
We’re also not sure yet if they really fixed all his collision issues, or if they just removed hug tech, fixed some of the broken collision, but Blight will still slide uncontrollably on some objects.
This is also what I'm thinking. There were so many spots where his collision was awful and/or so inconsistent. If just all of those got ironed out, great, probably. But with the vagueness of the dev update wording, we won't know what's different until this update comes out.

Getting increasingly irritated with this game for 2 main reasons; first and foremost, it feels like the survivors are constantly having their hand help the whole time because they seem to complain about everything. Events have led to the BT basekit change, anti-camping, the recent 3 gen change to limit how much you can regress gens...what have killers gotten AS A WHOLE?!? Not talking 1 or 2 killers being buffed here and there. Second thing I hate is how survivors don't seem to know what the word KILLER means!!! I don't care how I have to kill you, whether that's tunneling, proxy camping, camping at end game, etc. my goal and the point of me playing killer, is to KILL YOU by any means...by the amount of people I get messaging after the game or popping into my stream to tell me how "trash I am at the game..." it seems the community and Behavior as a whole have forgotten that 😒
The last year and a half or so has seen many changes that allow killers to be more lethal consistently.
Many of the complaints from survs revolve around how it feels to be hard focused and yeeted on out very early in a trial. That happens from a combination of mistakes on their part/lack of experience, and tactics & strats killers use. I doubt you enjoy the feeling of being directly tunneled as a surv, when it happens early and often.
DBD does take a couple of hundred hours to no longer suck, and a thousand to be good. But what happens when the average player doesn't even get to a hundred hours? A lot of the "hand holding" changes are various attempts for the masses to be able to enjoy the game.

Hi this is my first post, and I'm only making it because I am beyond confused.
2 weeks ago or something I bought the perk 'Inner Strength' from the Shrine of Secrets. I bought it while playing Claudette and I used it for a while on her. I just bought Steve and he's almost level 3 prestige, and I still haven't seen Inner Strength. I also do not have it on any of my other characters, just Claudette. Are you only able to use the Shrine of Secret perks on the character you were playing when you bought it? Please help, thank youuuuuu.
The Shrine of Secrets is a Store for Unique Perks, that allows Players to unlock Perk Tiers of Characters they do not currently own or they do not intend to level and prestige yet. It was originally implemented into Dead by Daylight with Patch 1.2.0 (October 2016). The Shrine of Secrets allows Players to unlock Perk Tiers of Unique Perks of Characters they do not currently own. It also allows the same for Characters a Player does not wish to level at the moment, which would naturally unlock thosHere's a link to a rundown on how the Shine works.
With patch 7.4.0 the perk Inner Strength was once again made a Unique Perk, so maybe something I'm not seeing got messed up in there with it?
Normally you'd unlock Inner Strength for everyone you own from Nancy once you get her to prestige 3. And then spend Bloodpoints in the bloodwebs to unlock it. But directly from the Shrine shoulda worked.

So I was playing Trapper yesterday, and as the match started I saw an offering for Badham... initially I thought "Oh crud Badham... here we go, this'll be rough", only to find 2 Sables running No Mither...
Initially I was confused, wondering if this was some Weaving Spiders shenanigans or something... I checked main for basement, wasn't there, but I found both Sables down there... After downing them both I picked them up and saw Boil Over... and it didn't take long to realise this was a classic Badham use the main building underground and be too far from hooks strat.
So I left them down there, and set about hunting the other 2 players. I felt bad that I had to punish these other 2 for their teammates actions, but I couldn't deal with them while these 2 other players were out there doing gens. I hooked them 3 times each and started thinking how to handle them.
After somes attempts to deal with them I was able to work out they also had Flip Flop and Breakout, so handling the pair was going to be a real chore. I walked around trapping up all the entrances, relying on their reluctance to come investigate in case I caught them upstairs. I set the farthest traps first and then set the nearby ones ensuring they had very small windows if they wanted to disable my traps.
I then downed them both, picking up the one I downed second to deny flip flop, and took them out the entrance I left. I actually thought I might be close enough to hook, I got very close to the hook, but they broke free, but in the confusion she took the wrong door for a very satisfying "Snap!". I picked her back up and finally put her on hook. The other Sable tried for a little to come save her, but it was apparent I wasn't gonna let her go easy and she decided to head back to basement. I was now down my closest hook though from the sacrifice.
I once again downed this Sable, and immediately picked up walking out of main... to which I dropped her and threw my last trap at the door. Now all entrances are blocked... I pick her up again for her to wiggle off, and to much amusement, she doesn't even pay attention to the trap I set and runs straight into it, giving me one last grab and the victory.
I will admit I did slap them both on hook... something I never do normally, but in this one instance, I felt it was very much justified. No one playing Trapper will deny it can be rough sometimes... but its funny when he happens to be one of the only characters in the game who can deal with something like this. 😆
BHVR... as part of your mapping realm update... please put a hook downstairs... this would have been miserable as pretty much anyone else. I would have to slap them repeatedly down to slowly bleed them out otherwise.
Badhams without the basement in the school is an issue with the hooks. There's just no good spot inside on either level that wouldn't present " killer can bodyblock the hook" problems anywhere I can see. It's just too tight in there for hooks, and I imagine that's why none spawn in there these days.

I've been playing since Monday night when I bought the DLC, no sleep, just breaks for food and shower.
I haven't played a single match on the new map. Could there be an issue with my account or something?
I find this incredibly bizarre. Offerings for Ichorous Loam just send me to Garden of Joy as well
I was considering filling out a support ticket but wanted your thoughts if possible.
I seem to be going to an incredibly narrow handful of maps unless an offering is made
You're on Switch right? If by some miracle you are in a lobby with fellow Switch players maybe message them (assuming a Switch even has that ability) to also put up an offering? Maybe increase your odds of getting the map that way?
-
My personal preference would be for the Twins to disappear into the abyss, and somehow take Skull Merchant with them.
This is more due to how the community in general has reacted to these two over the years, and I intend no offense to those who like running either of them.

This would be fun just wonder how it would hinder the game quality. Resources would be shifted to the weather and they have to make it work on the Switch.
This is likely the hold up for anything like this. They had to greatly reduce the fog many years ago, plus cut way down on swaying grass etc. because of the hit to game performance. Particularly on the consoles.

Are the event offerings actually going to come back because they are still obtainable in the blood web and despite trying to avoid them sometimes its not possible. I've been trying to dodge all the event offerings yet I still have 48 of them. that's 96k bloodpoints just wasted and it will only get higher.
So are you going to be fixing the offering?
If you are not please remove them from the blood webs and give us our blood points back because its really annoying to have it not usable yet still force us to take them on the web.
I'm hoping there's a hotfix patch tomorrow, and that it includes a fix to those offerings.

"most players"? Is that still true with Epic and Windows store? Where is the data?
I don't care if chat is for PC only. McCote said that "they should not see each others perks", but as you can do it in game, I don't see why it should not be implemented for all. Usually console players are all up for the "equality".
We cannot ever know actual numbers for the consoles, but it's like 70% or so, and the remaining 30% is Steam and Epic and Windows combined. Last I heard the PlayStations outnumber Steam for instance.
I'd like to see surv perks added in game, probably on the screen that shows pings & offerings maybe. That way teams would at least know Deliverance or Unbreakable or Head On are in play, and they can act more intelligently. In the lobby would lead to nasty dodging issues, and forget about doing adepts and such.

That's totally fine for me. I don't expect anyone to like SM. And yes, many still hate her because she was previously abused as a Chess Merchant. That's why I would like people to give her a chance. The fact that your randoms don't know how to play against her or just give up is definitely annoying. But that can happen to us with many killers in Solo Q :(
I don't condone just giving up immediately against her, or any killer really. But I get why survs do it. It'll take some time for the ire to subside some.

BTT:
I'm glad to hear that there are still some people who don't share the hatred of SM, regardless of whether they like the killer or not. Unfortunately, some of the arguments here in the forums are very unobjective and emotional. It feels like it's always the same people who express their dissatisfaction with SM. Saying SM is the worst designed killer in the game because you don't like them is just childish and doesn't bring about a serious discussion.
A lot of the angst against SM is leftover from previous versions of her. I'm not saying it's fun to verse her now, it's not really, especially when your solo teammates don't/won't do what's needed against her. But it is ever so slightly better now, a lil. Maybe. 🤪

That's dumb. In a full PC lobby everyone could quickly tell all others through chat. But the language barrier and having no time are probably reasons why people don't do it.
Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, who cannot use the lobby chat.

@Bartlaus said:
I totally agree with him. There are many killers whose powers/ mechanics can be deactivated by survivors:
Alien - set up turrets
Pinhead - open his box
Legion - spread to gens and don't heal every single time
Larry - take an EMP
Trapper - disarm his traps
Pig - boop the snoot
But I often experience in Solo Q that exactly these things are not done. SM would only be half as strong if the survivors deactivated their drones instead of running blindly into them.
Ok booping my snoot doesn't deactivate me, but it certainly will buy you some time! 🐷🐽

As mentioned above a couple of months back the devs asked if we were interested in a partial deal, but didn't specify which platforms.

Such simple QoL changes that should have been added years ago. The hook bubble being there has never been properly explained for why it was added (who asked or likes this?), and changing aura colors / scratch marks should have been added with colorblind mode. This event has made it even more clear that this game is just so overly saturated with red.
Have the Hook bubbles always been in the game? I'm not sure. For things like that (as when a gen pops) I think the intent is to draw attention to the objective being completed. Vividly & drastically drawing that attention.

I'm wondering which exhaustion perk you use. Write down which exhaustion perk you used and the reason. But I will write first. I use Dramaturgy. In my opinion, while other exhaustion perks help to increase the distance between you and the killer, this perk is a perk that prevents you from getting injured. For example, I think it is a great perk that allows you to go from one pallet to another, to reach places where you normally cannot go without taking damage, connecting pallets and windows, to take 1-2 extra turns on a pallet, to dodge on a flat road, and to do window tech without requiring timing. So which one do you think is the best?
I've been maintaining my status as an ok surv running Lithe.
-
How the matchmaking feels varies so greatly. I have always believed the lobby shopping and resultant backfilling has never given their MMR system a decent shot on operating correctly over time. It gets one chance at a fair-ish trial for all, that's it, and one dodge borks it. This is because when asked this community always overwhelming says queue times over matchmaking, and no meaningful way of dealing with dodging is in place.
Because if this the sweatiness of the trials vary too. It depends somewhat on the time of day, but much more on region and mindset. Most players are indeed casuals, in particular the survs. But no one wants to be crushed each match, and most don't want stomps each match either (some do, admittedly).
How do we fix this? One is we tolerate a bit longer queues. Next is as @Pulsar said, a middle ground is needed. Imo what is required is a combo of the old emblem method and something beyond just kills & gate escapes. Separate queues won't work, as there's likely no real way of keeping the sweats out of a casual area and keep the tradition of "run what you like.". Somehow individual (and in the case of survs, teamwork) skill expression needs to be accounted for more.
-

Hello, I have been using head on for years now and lately when I use it, it won't stun the killer. It does the normal exiting locker fast animation of exiting a locker and not the head on animation. This is of course with no exhaustion. Why is this happening? It should be doing the head on animation and stunning the killer.
The only thing I can think of is maybe you were in the locker long enough to gain a crow. If so, then yeah no stun even though you do the rush animation on out of the locker.
A nice QOL for Head On may be to show the perk deactivated should you be in a locker longe enough that get a crow. Assuming it doesn't already do that.

And on top of that, she got buffed.
Often the issues with any ranged killer, but especially Huntress, is how rough ping & latency make hits feel.
What the surv sees on their screen is a third of a second to half a second layer than that the killer is looking at, even with wonderful Internet and good ping. Same thing when getting hit through a pallet despite getting the stun. Or vaulting a window maybe taking a step or two, and still getting hit. Latency.
With Huntress it can feel like she is throwing homing beachball-sized hatchets.

The veteran players are much more likely to have all of the perks and cool stuff by now, but not so for all of the newer peeps, who are the bulk of the masses.

Their DC penalty system does not differentiate between reasons for a disconnect, it just applies the matchmaking lock each time.
It could be a player manually leaving, an issue with a server, the game crashing, issues with someone's internet, etc. Doesn't matter, all are treated the same.

In other realms, the horizontal part of a broken hook sort of falls lower, making it easy to see from a distance if it's unusable. On Garden on Joy and now Greenville square however, only the actual sharp hook part falls down.
I've had this problem several times, where I walk up to a hook thinking it's intact when in fact it has been broken from sacrifice or sabotaged. I know their design on this realm is more "sturdy", but I would really appreciate if there was more of a change to their silhouette upon breaking, since only the small hook part missing is often hard to notice.
I think this is a most reasonable request.

I agree with your points.
I tend to think they should balance for the top like 20%. Since we have a SBMM system the lower tier players will have their mmr adjusted to where they are winning/losing exactly the same as before, except now the top is actually more balanced. So essentially I don't think balancing for the top say 20% hurts the lower people as much as people think it would/does. People have a tendency to be hyperbolic when we say balance top down and jump straight to the "1% comp players" which is a bit disingenuous.
This is also without even getting into the whole solo vs swf thing. Which I feel the amount of swf is significantly downplayed, especially at higher mmr's (there's a reason we aren't shown who's a swf in post game lobby). Like pure full solo queue groups (which the game is balanced around) is like sub 15% of my matches at least. So most my matches are playing "unbalanced" games if you will. Playing full solo queue will only get you so far in mmr heights, so the majority of people at those higher levels are swf since that's the only way you get there.
With about half of all survs solos, around half the rest duos, I'm not sure balancing for the best play would actually work. Worth testing out though.

"that suggests they feel they have to win at any cost and can't accept losing a fair number of games."
Or they can accept losing from playing badly, but just not from losing through poor balancing. Very different.
"The problem arises when killers camp or tunnel as the default from the start of that game. That's not someone who is reacting against the odds, that's simply someone who wants to be as powerful at possible with no consideration for the other side or the balance of that game."
Most games? Yes. However high mmr matches against 4 man swf's bar being on a few specific killers, that's how you're forced to play if you want to win unless they're just playing bad.
During the middle of the match as well? Many games this is necessary, and not from playing badly (it can be), from poor balancing.
"People who want to 'win more' when they're already winning, kicking survivors when they're already down. That's the power fantasy rearing it's head."
Is that the majority or a minority? It's very much the minority. If tomorrow the game was better balanced and tunneling/camping was never necessary to win if you played well then you would see very little of it happening bar the few people desperate for wins when playing badly or just salty at someone. Still, the minority.
"Most of the time it's entirely unnecessary, and you could win without resorting to cheap tactics."
Disagree. This is only accurate if the survivors are bad. If both sides play perfectly and the killer doesn't tunnel he will lose nearly every single time bar a couple exceptions. The vast majority of the killer roster (bar a couple exceptions) requires survivor mistakes to win, regardless of how well they play.
Don't get me wrong, I want tunneling and camping nerfed/removed from the game. It shows zero skill and gives kills that were unearned. However I also play against good enough players and with enough hours to understand how this game is balanced and know they're doing what's necessary much of the time. In a hypothetical world we'd remove those things entirely and then buff most killers accordingly to make them never necessary. I personally don't do those things at all because I don't want kills I didn't earn (same reason I don't like NOED) but I also understand it makes me lose games that I would replay in the exact same way and tunneling would've been the only way I could have won those. Meaning playing a hypothetical perfect game as killer doesn't mean you win.
When I'm in a swf group I don't blame them for tunneling, they have to. Unless we're just playing super bad they aren't winning without doing this. Without them tunneling whether we win or lose is up to us, not the killer.
I think the disconnect when it comes to balance for all of us is their tendency to focus on the average player experience first and foremost. Then the rookies. And then those highly skilled vets absolutely last. Whether this is the best and/or correct path is another thread entirely.
Methods and perks that are underutilized but otherwise fine at the normal level (say 85% of the playerbase) are crushing to newbies. And often op in the high MMR area. But it's that 85% they seem to balance around, those that are really not too good at the game yet, and likely won't put in the time to be.
To better understand their pov, I kinda think you just chuck out the numbers for that bottom 10% and that top 5% as well. Then what they do and don't change makes a bit more sense. Think of it an a sorta penalty for being too good.
-
I firmly believe many players are dodging lobbies just to make their matches easier, in either role. Be it to avoid suspected SWF or certain cosmetics or prestiges or whatever.
Unfortunately this borks up their MMR system badly, leading to backfilling problems that causes the horrible mismatches that players complain about all the time. And in the name of queue times too, people have said they won't wait around for ten+ minutes for it to find near same level trials repeatedly.
Whenever they do stricter MMR, the players now complain about back to back sweaty matches too. Sounds like we don't want it too casual or too competitive either. But then we dodge 2-7 lobbies every time for ehhhh reasons. I don't envy the devs this problem at all.

Haha I should have clarified but I was afraid of being ridiculed... I am switch cousin :(
As for the chat box issues. I wish I could participate in the chats after games; just for the funny interactions, even if it gets toxic sometimes
Love you Switch cousins! 💕

Technically even that doesn't actually kick anyone. It's fully possible to be playing the morning before a patch goes live and then just not quit. Now, your queue will get longer and longer as the day goes on and more players log out to patch, but in theory you dont actually have to log out, not even for a patch.
Yikes

It's even worse if you're on console because you can't see their steam account which you need to make a meaningful report online
I don't know about meaningful, however the Steam ID isn't required for the report, they changed that a few years back.
Yeah their reporting system does really need overhauling. Us consolers are spared from Chat Box issues sure. But for everything else it's a pain to report and video is needed for most offenses. So our Switch cousins are super boned here, as their ability to record their matches was removed several years back. Dunno what they're supposed to do.

It's well known players get around Killswitched things by keeping the game up and going. I'm pretty sure forcing everyone's game to close would require a patch update to be put out. If so that would be next Tuesday at the earliest.

i may or may not want your gamertag-killer main but still plays some surv
My gamertag is the same here and elsewhere. I adore my beloved Piggy, but am a lousy killer and an ok-ish surv. 🤪😂
