I sometimes experience motion sickness and the forced camera angle particularly on hitting 2nd stage does a number on my head, can we please have an option in the menu to turn off force camera angle on hook states? This way the people that like the hook stage animation and don't suffer from motion sickness can still enjoy them. Those of us that get motion sickness will really appreciate it! 😁

I wonder if the Hag traps snapping the camera around kinda like the hook animation & lock has the same effect you describe?

  • I think everyone pretty much agrees the current reporting system needs overhauling badly. I know they cannot realistically add in a replay system, however many (if not most) players don't record their games. And our Switch cousins haven't been able to record their matches in several years. Dunno what they are even expected to do to report anything.

As a controller player (on PC, don't taunt me, I don't have a desk, I play with my TV screen), this is one of the things that prevent to play constantly good

Had to change my binds (the famous problem : dropping the pallet instead of healing the mate)

Can't 360, I watched some tutorials with controllers but it's far less effective than with keyboard

I can't properly play with huntress, Deathslinger, Blight, twins, Oni. I read that some people actually lower their sensitivity to be more precise, never done that, maybe it's the right thing to do

I've found I need different sensitivity settings for each killer. 100 for Oni, 70 for Huntress, that sort of thing. So you'll have to experiment some to see what works for you.

For me the major problem is I simply cannot turn or react fast enough in many situations, even at 100% sensitivity. Makes all of the killers more frustrating for me, and ones like Singularity feel unplayable.

If forget the name but the one for Myers to Mori 4x with the Tombstone addon.

It is painfully frustrating and back before bots I had survivors literally DC to deny me the achievement and besides that I think the Tombstone addons are incredibly unfun and should not be in the game anyway.

can i choose 2? evil incarnate and nurse's grab after 3rd blink one. that is almost impossible to do without farming.

Yeah I agree Evil Incarnate. The counter is for survs to locker up. This creates so much frustration on both sides though. Survs are gutted without ever being injured let alone downed, and those Myers attempting it pray the survs don't know to get into a locker. Bad design all around.

I'm the opposite... I think everyone should have to read it. Call out the tunneling and camping. Or better yet... separate the console with PC. Consoles have an advantage anyhow

What advantage do us consolers have? Not having that chat box?

  • Can't find gens, can't find totems, can't find survs, can't find doors, can't find my own left shoe here.

Stealth killers, particularly Myers, thrive here. But for me personally I dislike it in either role. Graphically the last update vastly improved it and it looks awesome. Gameplay wise is another story.

  • Most of the game's remaining fat shame spots are found here in the Forests. Those are not fun to run into, in either role. The clutter is somewhat rough too, and as others have said the downstairs of the Temple seems more vast than it looks. Despite all of that it feels like a pretty well balanced map overall.

Didn't think of consoles, you are right. So such a hypothetical solo mode would also have to be limited to pc versions only.

I do not want to force anyone to play solo. I was just referring to OPs proposal of a solo mode with (likely) no voice chat, and your reply that it wouldn't be enforcable. I still think it could be enforced, although only with the heavy restriction that it's only possible for pc versions (as you pointed out) and the adjustments I wrote initially.

Would it be a good thing? Most likely not.

Would it be worth the effort? Hell no.

I agree with your assessment. No way it'd be worth the resources. I also doubt there would be enough support from the players to pursue the idea either. I tend to think of the SWF discussions as largely moot: it's far past time to even consider major changes or clamping down-type rules for them. That time was in when it was introduced like 7 years ago.

Adding Ranked would be an awesome way to keep DBD fresh and separate the competitive players from the casual ones. Potentially improving player experience on both sides.

It would also be a cool way to keep track of the top ranked players in the world!

The problem becomes how do you keep the sweats away from the casuals? What incentives could be given to get players to go into a ranked area over the casual side?

It could be enforced when its guaranteed 4 randoms, with no pre game chat and player profiles hidden, so there's no way to know with whom you are playing, and you are not able to share some discord or ts url beforehand.

Most of the DBD playerbase is on one of the consoles, not on Steam or Epic or Windows. So there already is no pre-game chat box being used there at all, nor are they on Discord. Xbox and the PlayStations all come with built-in party voice chat that is very easy to use and connect with, and is entirely independent of that game is being played. That is what I mean by saying it's unenforceable.

As far as making all lobbies only random solo players, we need to keep in mind around half of all survivors are in at least a two-man group already. Forcing all randoms would likely kill DBD, as others here have said. I agree about hiding profiles that should happen.

block killer's path -> run after you make sure the other person made enough distance -> get in a locker.

what does the killer do here?

And this is why bandaiding issues with perks and iffy workarounds to those perks is not the correct approach. It's a fundamental problem within the game itself.

Yeeting out a surv as quickly as possible has always been the best way to win. However it feels so horrible to be the focused hard tunneled surv. Older versions of DS very much deterred killers from doing so, but when made into offense instead of defense it felt so bad as killer to get hit with.

We were perking around issues and at the same time actively trying to maneuver around those perks, all in ways that made the opposite role feel terrible while it happens. I agree with @Pulsar direct tunneling needs to be made not worth it, but still give killers some agency to, um.... kill survs. But I confess I don't know the solution taking in to account the entire playerbase.

This is probably me missing something obvious, but what is VCPT?

Without Voice Chat maybe? I'm not sure either.

  • There aren't enough DBD servers globally to put on a super strict ping limit. As another has pointed out Chinese players would be likely all excluded. And peeps anywhere far from available servers would also be out, such as Australia and in South America.

I find it hard to believe the recoil was that bad on console when they even got reduced recoil compared to PC. Just sounds like a skill issue. Pretty sure even a content creator made a video on it and the difference between pc and console was night and day.

Last time I messed around with Trickster seriously was back on an Xbox1x. The recoil was unpredictable, and because of the dead zones in the sticks there was really no way to stay on target, let alone lead anyone.

It's precisely the same reason Boil Over is terrible to deal with, you just can't react fast enough, even at max sensitivity.

For comparison, imagine a third to half a second delay on everything. Turning, aiming, teleporting, swinging, shooting, burping, everything. Now add that to iffy optimization, iffy game performance, gross input delay, and that recoil just made Trickster too rough too clunky too slow. Singularity has these problems as well.

There's a reason us consolers beg for more controller settings options, or for M&K support, or for many a decent Cross Progression to escape.

  • @Brimp said:

BECAUSE he got turned from cool pot shots to minigun is why I don't play him. I'd rather have the 6 knives to injure 110 trickster rather than 115 and no recoil.

No matter what base speed Trickster has that awful recoil had to go. Made him actually unplayable on console with the controller.

  • I agree, however most people will direct new killers to YouTube and Twitch and say there ya go.

Even Solos can seem coordinated if they all so happen to be decent at the game, and imo those are some of the most fun games you can have. 4 people who arent on comms understanding what to do in most scenarios is really something, and its even better with an experienced killer. Its truly what the game is meant to be.

As for bully squads, just dont let them get to you. Theyre not that hard to deal with, since most of their strategies are countered by patience, and slugging.

That's good advice for those (thankfully) few and far between bullys.

In general SWF tend to be overly altruistic and very risky when trying to get everyone out, and there are strong ways to take advantage of that.

  • @MarylinMonhoe said:

Yes I'd like variants for nighttime for all of the Coldwinds.

  • Because Deliverance is super situational, and useless if you get hooked twice, its strength is warranted.

  • Imo the offerings themselves aren't to blame, but issues with several maps are. Ditching those offerings would just be a bandaid fix. A couple of killer builds are map dependant, and that should really be a separate discussion for them.

Ideally those offerings should just be for simple preference, and not for a huge advantage. So the work needs to be directed at the maps.

  • @oxygen said:

Matchmaking barely stands a chance to stay on its feet the moment a single person dodges or waits 0.2 seconds "too long" in queue, the last it needs is even more to worry about and completely break down over.

    This.

Both sides dodge for whatever reasons, but it is so destructive to the matchmaking. It leads to the gross mismatches players rightly complain about, and worsens an already rough new player experience too.

  • Most of the time when I run into Pinky Clown they ride up my surv's backside just like they're holding a chainsaw, so they cannot miss. So the number of bottles doesn't matter much right then.

  • The "tunneled out at five gens is the fault of the surv team" mentality is entirely an veteran and/or upper MMR point of view.

Simple fact is most of the survs out there are not too knowledgeable about the game. And with around half of all survs solos the notion of betting on timely cooperation & coordination is kinda absurd.

We're talking about casual gameplay vs.efficient gameplay, where most players are casuals. DBD has an usually high learning curve, and it takes hundreds of hours to no longer suck. Thousands of hours to pick up most of the game.

Most players will not be around long enough to learn as much as they really need. Not with lobby shopping and MMR problems from backfilling.

  • Isn't it funny how adding in M&K support would go a long way in dealing with these requests?

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

Pushing updates to consoles requires certification to make sure everything adheres to Microsoft/Sony/etc. standards. It's expensive and time consuming.

Steam does not require this, so developers are free to push updates without any additional hassle. Which is why the PTB is Steam only.

This is most of the reason why.

However games like DayZ and Minecraft both have "experimental" versions of their games on Xbox for instance, and I'd like to see something similar used to test things out for DBD.

It is frustrating that the PTB is only just Steam users, who make up a small portion of the overall playerbase, even knowing the reasons why.

  • @LeGranEmi said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3669458#Comment_3669458

I don't know if it's because I've been a trickster since the moment it came out, but the recoil in the controller was never a problem. I think it's just that people didn't want to learn how to use it.

That recoil was absolutely a problem on console with a controller. It was unpredictable and you couldn't react in time to somewhat stay on target with the dead zones in the sticks & gross input delay, even at max sensitivity. Putting aside game performance issues because console + DBD. I could only imagine what our Switch cousins get out of Trickster...

Now with the recoil gone it's a significant improvement yes, but he's still a ranged killer and it's still with a controller. With tons of hours of practice you will become an acceptable killer using him, but you'll still hit that mechanical limit, particularly on the older machines.

  • Are any of our PC cousins really going to wait around for 14 minutes while I painfully type out a single sentence with my controller? Cause that's all I gotz! 🎮🎮

  • @HINGIRIK said:

Here I want to ask why only Steam players can access PTB. Doesn't Dead By Daylight have any players playing through Epic Games and they don't bring PTB to Epic Games? Also in this chat, why can't PC players (Epic Games, Steam and Microsoft Store) match each other when they turn off the crossplay option? Don't they all use keyboard and mouse? In short, what I mean is that they should bring PTB to other platforms besides Steam (I don't know if it is only on Steam or if it is also available on the console) and when we turn off the crossplay option, they can bring all PC players together without choosing a platform.

As others have said, only Steam players can access any PTB, and they've said there's no plans to add it to any other platform.

And yeah for CrossPlay should you turn it off you'd be only matched with those just on your platform who also have turned it off. So for you you'd only get other Epic players who also have turned off CrossPlay, and I imagine that would be a tiny pool indeed. That would be no one on Steam, or Windows, or any console, or anyone on Epic with CrossPlay still on.

There are settings available to hide player names or disable chat display. I think it would be a good idea to utilize those. Additionally, the likelihood of encountering individuals making inappropriate remarks while we're waiting is low.

If you're referring to Anonymous Mode, those of us on Xbox cannot even use it, so that's out.

It is true us consolers don't have that chat box, which might be a good thing overall.

  • There are some legit reasons to leave a lobby, emergencies, known cheaters, brutal ping, etc. Outside of those decent reasons it drops into the selfish area mostly, shopping around for an easier trial imo. Whether it's a suspected SWF or a protest over this thing or that, to me it's quite selfish really.

However each and every dodge messes up their matchmaking system badly, leading to terrible backfilling. Queues are often fast because it priorities wait times over quantity matches, and this is because every time this community is asked we say "yup, queue times please".

So each dodge borks up the matchmaking as we pass a perceived problem along to other players. This is likely the source of the complaints of gross overmatches occuring, be it a new surv being wreaked by a skilled veteran killer or a brand new killer being destroyed by very good survs, solos or not.

How far are we willing to harm other players' experiences just to maybe improve our own? 🤔

  • I'd like to test out that roar maybe moved to the moment she uncrouches completely, and see what that does for her.

  • I am loathe to compare this game with TCM, but they do have one feature worth exploring imo: multiple ways to accomplish the objective.

Killers do have moris, but they're so rarely used for years now. And yes Hatch exists for survs. But in normal gameplay it's kill the survs and do the gens to get out. That's it.

I agree with the others though, we shouldn't be changing perks solely because of one killer. It should be that one killer to be looked at. Again.

  • So maybe a basic lobby then. No names, no profiles, no prestiges, just the survs. Must be a middle ground here somewhere that helps more than it hurts.

Another benefit of no lobbies would be getting rid of that last second swapping bs too.

Absolutely agree! However, if the lobby where to be removed, where would survivors be able to see the build?

Prolly where players can see the offerings, or in-game on a pause menu.

  • Assuming you did nothing to directly deserve it, most likely they were sore over a previous trial or the actions of another surv. Maybe they're just jerks.

Try to not take it personally, even though they likely are. Supposed to be just a game. 🤪

I like to tell people what i run. Soloq is bad. Why nerf it even more?

Names during match? Those can go.
