we take the results of the survey that was in the game

I think the results from the survey might be a bit biased, for example personally I didn't fill the survey because 2v8 is not a game mode I enjoy much. So I haven't been playing the game much to interact with the survey while that mode is active, and wasn't really interested in giving feedback. So I think people who love that game mode were more likely to fill it out.

  • Good to know it's not just me who felt like there's something wrong with the BP bonus.

For some time there has been an almost constant survivor bonus incentive regardless of actual queue times. I don't know if it's a bug or what, but it's annoying and I feel it's making already long survivor queues even longer.

  • I think @CompetitifDBD meant the official DbD statistics tracker page: https://stats.deadbydaylight.com/match-history/. If you have it linked to your Behaviour account, it will display essentially the end game score board information for all the players in the match, for the last 10 matches. It's pretty useful for re-checking someone's build.

I do agree that it is nice to be able to check whether someone actually had the perk or add-on they seemed to play around. But on the other hand, I have seen people DC much more often for the reason that the match isn't going their way way, rather than suspecting a cheater. So I understand not wanting to reward that behavior.

  • I totally agree, I've been hoping for an option to mute voice lines for ages 😭

It's not really for immersion, but I feel like it ruins the mood and gets annoying real fast, especially during the game. Taurie is the only survivor who's voicelines I don't mind, but characters like Orela and Sable I just can't play because the constant quips bother me too much. I feel like these canned lines really don't add much personally, I would really love to turn then off.

  • After seeing the new crawling speed + autorecovery in action, I feel like this can be pretty strong for even slightly coordinated teams, since it's pretty easy to crawl away to get picked up if the killer is distracted even for 10 seconds to chase off someone with a flashlight.

Survivors not having to choose between crawling or recovering will also make pallet saves/pickups near pallets a Lot more easier.

  • I'm sad to see Barbeque & Chili rework, the current version is nice and encourages you to leave the hooked survivor.

Basekit BBQ & Chili is not really comparable, as the survivors can 100% know when you have it and can outplay it.

  • Yeah, I'm not a fan of this either. I was wondering if it's just me who needs to get used to the new look so it's good to know I'm not alone :')

Some other cosmetics also look more dull, I was playing Dwight yesterday and his red shirt or manager vest look honestly worse and really washed out with the new shaders. All these even look better in the customization preview.

  • I would love there to be a bit of a delay, there are several times where the abandon feature has appeared while a survivor had Unbreakable or Deliverance or a similar perk that would give them a second chance. I used the abandon feature myself just a second too soon before my slugged teammate picked themselves up 😭

But I agree, the way it appears instantly feels a bit aggressive, like you're expected to leave immediately.

  • As someone who played DbD mobile for a bit, the UI is incredibly similar to the challenges Mobile version had. So no wonder it looks like a cheaper mobile game now…

The removal of unique challenges was something that bothered me and what I brought up as well during PTB feedback. Overall the idea seems to be making the game simpler for new players and also removing specific challenges that might make you sandbag your team, though in my opinion this is at the cost of making the game more boring and generic. The Archives had really unique visuals and sound design as well, compared to this.

  • @Mooks said:

one reason I can think of is that keeping them means they have to maintain them. Some challenges can get buggy and need fixing and then there is also challenges that might be tied to perk effects which may be reworked and thus resulting in challenges that cannot be completed anymore.

also, i though the charms can only be obtained when you complete the levels while the rift/tome is active?? But anyway, they will find their way into the in-game Shop eventually I would assume

You can currently actually get the reward charms on every Tome page no matter when you complete it, even if it's after the rift has closed. It felt really nice to slowly earn the older Tome charms.

But on the original topic I completely agree, I hate how much FOMO stuff they're adding. I know this is eventually going to make me not care about the game since I can't keep up with it anyway.

  • This was not fixed in the last bugfix patch.

I thought this "feature" to randomize offerings was already tried and reversed once after negative community feedback? So I'm assuming and hoping it's a bug.

  • @TheArbiter said:

I assume so, and I also assume its being added because killers could hold survivors hostage in that room indefinitely

Wouldn't the other survivors just finish the gens in that scenario though? Although it's possible I feel like this is an unlikely situation to happen.

  • I'm not all that concerned about flashlight saves, but as people have pointed out, the increased amount of pallets + Survivors on the map makes pallet rescues so much easier, and with the breakneck speed of 2v8 there's not really time to check around you before pick-up.

I really loved the stomp-hooking of old 2v8, it was one of the most fun changes for me. Also the amount of time it saved for not having to pick up.

I think it just throws me because the pallet stuns registering on the same side like that means she clipped through the killer which isn’t supposed to happen. Kind of like when a killer gets stunned, and you still get hit and downed on the opposite side of the pallet even though they were stunned. I think it’s latency issues, which isn’t anyone’s fault but it doesn’t feel very fair because it’s beyond your control. Clipping through like that I don’t believe is meant to happen. Which is I guess why it threw me off lol. But thanks for your input, means a lot :)

interesting, I didn't think it was latency at all when watching this clip.

What you described can definitely happen and is frustrating, but in this clip it would be stranger to push the Killer on the other side in my opinion. If you throw the pallet very late (like in this clip, where the Killer has almost fully walked through it) + the Killer swings through the pallet, it's not uncommon to end up on the same side.

  • @hermitkermit said:

I only say unfair as of now because I’m not sure what the counter would be? If there is a counter then my answer changes but based on the clip I’m not sure what that Cheryl could have done. Can someone tell me what the correct play here would be?

I think it's similar to for example Spirit Fury. It will likely catch Survivors off guard the first time, since they don't know the perk is in play, but after that they have to either drop the pallet a little early, or just take a hit without dropping the pallet on the Killer (at least not at the last second, where the Killer is on the same side as you).

In this clip the Cheryl went for a pretty risky stun, and ended on the same side of the pallet as Killer. It's the one situation you can get a quick down with Enduring, so you should probably not play for stuns much if the Killer has Enduring.

I think it's on the same level of fairness as other perks that you need to see in use once to know to outplay them, like idk Dead Hard or Starstruck.

  • I have never thought of this as unfair, it's a pretty common tech to do with Enduring. And as soon as survivors notice you have the perk they can play around it.

  • I miss it. Lack of it does make visibility better which makes gameplay easier, but I miss the atmosphere of foggy maps. I kinda even wish for the type we had before graphics update. It made the terrain feel really unique and more horror-like.

With the way "the fog" seems to be super integral for the game world and how official posts end with "see you in the fog" you'd think there was more of it in the game honestly.

  • Apparently updated Lucky Star gets to keep the aura part, which at least is nice.

  • @Azaarious said:

The Megeladon outfit was better than any of the submissions. I’m so sad that it isn’t an option.

    Which one was that?

  • @Zakon05 said:

I was coming here to post something similar.

Please reconsider the change to the mori offerings. Slugging for the 4k is really annoying to be on the receiving end of, and it happens a lot even without a real incentive for the killer to do it.

Now they're giving them an incentive.

I don't understand how they came to the conclusion to do this, since this was part of the reason the original finisher mori system also came with basekit unbreakable.

You know I didn't even remember basekit Unbreakable was part of the first Finisher Mori PTB. It had its own issues for sure, but at least it avoided the slugging for 4k. Not that I want basekit Unbreakable to happen, but it's strange they didn't consider it this PTB.

I'm not wrong am I? You could try not assuming the worst and you might enjoy interactions with others more, Cosmetics aren't going to hurt you, bm is a form of experession if you like it or not, it's just a game lol you do need to lighten up and realise that the cosmetics are fine, entire characters are locked behind them do you really think they'll just turn off the ability to see them?

They are what make this game so special, seeing how people dress up their characters etc. it's fun.

You seem to be taking this topic very personally, considering you don't have to use this hypothetical option. And @Rigbeta is right, you're coming off rather unpleasant lol.

I like to dress up my characters, but I would support a mode like this. Either to keep the visuals more familiar or closer to the game's og horror aesthetic.

  • I was honestly surprised to read that Hellfire has an audio cue while charging up, I have never heard/noticed it in-game, and I don't really have this issue with any other Killer.

I really wish it was clearer then, because a lot of the time it's not easy or even possible to keep track of Dracula's hand for the visual cue. The lack of audio makes Dracula pretty frustrating to play against, often.

  • Great post, and thanks for compiling all the aura reading effects!

I definitely agree that at this point there are overwhelmingly many ways to read the other side's aura. I also think the problem is that some of the newer perks and add-ons have very little requirements.

Part of the reason for Distortion's popularity is definitely the fact it got buffed, but I also think there was much less want or need for a perk like that when the most common Killer aura-reading perk was Barbecue, which was easy to expect and possible to outplay, and also not constantly available. Compare that to for example Nowhere to Hide or Rat Poison, which give you easy aura reading for Survivors near you with little cooldown. I feel like as a Survivor it feels bad to get outplayed by something like that.

The same feeling goes for Killer as well, I don't like having my position revealed constantly. I run Fearmonger/Mindbreaker on Trapper for example largely to avoid survivors potentially seeing me setting up.

A lot of aura reading was fine on the fast paced 2v8 mode, but I don't really want that in a regular game.

Current Distortion can definitely be annoying for a Killer running maybe a singular aura reveal perk, and I've felt that. But it does feel like a necessary evil almost against some of the stronger aura perks on good Killers. If the devs do want Distortion nerfed or changed due to how strong it can be in some situations, I really wish they would take a look at some aura reading perks as well.

Side note, I'm not sure if Distortion works against Rancor? Technically only the static location of the survivor is revealed, not the aura, but it might block that as well.

  • I finally managed to complete this archive on like the 4th try. For me what worked was not synchronizing the shards in the last portal, and just escaping the trial after collecting them.

Haha, this has to be a joke.

No offense, but BHVR has been catering to the LGBTQ community much more than you give them credit for. One could argue it's overwhelming how much support there is.

I'm all for people being safe from threats, violence or hate. But you have to be ignorant to believe BHVR hasn't been specifically catering towards LGBTQ members, women and black people.

Watch any chapter reveal that happened recently. There are no big streamers like Hens, Otz, Scott, Ayrun, or anything.

All of the people, especially in the 2v8 reveal were either non-whites, women, trans people or drag queens.

At this point, shouldn't one argue that there's massive discrimination towards straight white males? Why are we awarding 10% of society for being different, when the few people among the 90% have put in ridiculous amounts of time and effort into building a community are getting nothing in return?

Trust me, BHVR has been and always will cater to LGBTQ, don't worry. And there's nothing wrong with that.

What the issue is, is that they're prioritizing being diverse over contributions.

I don't really watch dev streams, I mostly only care about the content that's actually in the game. And there is currently only one gay character, so I honestly don't know what you mean by "catering". Are you talking about the pride flags being equippable as charms?

Also, I checked out the 2v8 announcement stream out of curiosity from what you said, and there are several white guys presenting and participating in gameplay, so what you just lied about that.

And what are you even talking about in regard to the 10%/90% thing? I'm genuinely confused.

  • I have the EXACT same issue, and the bug report I sent last year didn't get any feedback.

What do mean by your router, is it connection related? Because my internet is otherwise very stable.

  • I wanna say, the random speed boost you get from your teammate Trapper setting or resetting a trap is actually really nice. It's probably not very noticeable for survivors, and rarely impactful (you have to get lucky with the timing), but it is fun :)

wouldn't it lead to Killers slugging survivors on the ground to avoid losing a generator when they die?

So you will have survivors to ask for basekit unbreakable next...

edit: sorry i misread your message! don't make me think about basekit unbreakable lol

  • If they implemented something like this, wouldn't it lead to Killers slugging survivors on the ground to avoid losing a generator when they die? Like slugging for the hatch but throughout the entire game.

To be clear, I don't think everyone would do that. But since you're bringing up tunneling and people who tunnel, who want to play in the most optimal way, I feel like that would be inevitable.

  • Genuine question, why are you running the perk if you don't want your aura revealed? That's half of it's functionality. If you feel like your teammates are bringing the chase to you too often you don't have to use it.

  • If they're still in the wrong order even if you sort by Date then it's clearly a minor bug.

  • I'm really disappointed they went through with it, it makes changing outfits or charms so much more uncomfortable and it has many of the same issues that came with the new store, such as no Next/Previous Character buttons and customizations not showing the full outfit tab by default. I have no idea why they removed the very convenient sidebar button and outfit preview to do a repeat their store UI. It added so much unnecessary scrolling too.

I also really don't like how the character order is no longer chronological, it's like they're trying too hard to make me buy the new characters.

  • Agreed. DbD Mobile was the first thing I thought when I saw the new rift, I'm not a fan of it. I don't like how colorful and unrealistic they are, I like DbD for it's horror aesthetic. I would love some more casual and realistic outfits. I think that's why the Iron Maiden shirts were so popular, it was just normal t-shirts that fit well with so many other cosmetics.

On a side note, I used to love combining and trying out outfits while waiting in queue, but with the new UI being so uncomfortable and the Customization tab straight up removed I don't even care for outfits much anymore, besides switching the presets I've already made.

  • I would love that tbh

  • It does show fake pallets as well.

  • I only know it in the context of a Killer trying to avoid getting stunned by the pallet in chase. So keeping their distance and pausing further away at a pallet, even if it means losing distance in chase, because they assume the Survivor is going to drop it.

  • I think this might be due to the heavy discount on all the original characters currently, so people are getting new characters as they're easy to level up right now too, with how many bloodpoints you can get during event. For example I bought 5 new killers and 5 survivors with iri shards and worked through most of their adepts on the event mode.

  • I like the Cage spawn logic change for when the gens are done, and the increased anti-camping distance.

I don't mind the overall buffs, and the new iridescent add-ons sound fun, and playstyle-changing as iri rarity could be imo.

  • Well put. I like to run maps and keys sometimes, but them being a green rarity at minimum does mean they're not easy to aquire.

An add-on I'm surprised you didn't bring out for keys though is Gold Token. I started running this with Prayer Rope during Chaos Shuffle, since it's basically Bond but with a wider radius (48m), and figuring out where your teammates are can be very helpful :). Even the yellow rarity Eroded Token is not too bad. And I'd say it's the best on Green Key, since 20 seconds is fine for tapping into when you need. So Green Key in my opinion is better than Purple, since I don't usually play for hatch and would rather use the aura reading for a reasonable time.

But agreed, a lower rarity functional item would be hugely helpful.

I will say though, that the current version of Red Twine is incredibly unfair towards a few Killers - it highlighting "killer belongings" includes Hag traps, Freddy snares and most annoyingly Trapper's traps, which means someone with this add-on can follow set-up killers around and pretty much render their power useless. Since maps are rarely used this isn't an issue often, but if you do play against someone using it as Trapper it's pretty miserable. If they do a rework on these items, I really hope this is considered.

  • It's an interesting concept. I really like the lore idea behind the survivor. Though I'm not sure how well bhvr would be able to implement a customizable character like that. But I would love to have more cosmetic options that come by default on a character and don't have to be purchased.

I like the 3rd perk, the idea of making a temporary item from a totem is neat. 1 and 5 are also really interesting, since you're buffing the killer or potentially hindering your teammates for your own benefit, it could add fun interactions.

What do you mean by "effecting the killer's aura reading abilities" on the hex perk? 75 seconds is a pretty long time.

  • This would be really nice actually!

I wouldn't want a more significant change on animations like new moris, but a simple detail like this would be great.

I usually don't notice the missing animations, because I'm used to it by now, and some Killers like Trapper and Huntress have head tilting idle animation which make them look less static when loading into a trial. But on some Killers it would be a very welcome update, and a nice way to give them some attention.

  • I would love that. I don't really enjoy voice lines in DbD, not in lobby and really not in-game. For the RE characters they were a bit unique and interesting, but I definitely don't want them on every character.

The current event voicelines are also getting grating, which highlights the issue for me tbh, but at least those are temporary..

  • Hey, it looks like they finally fixed this!

    image.png

I know it wasn't super impactful but it honestly looks a lot better now :)

    Screenshot (1097).png
  • No, Victor's shrieks are classified as a Lullaby, so terror radius perks aren't affected by it.

His lullaby radius does does match the area in which Survivors are revealed to Charlotte by Killer instinct near Victor. But to answer your other question, the "shriek radius" can be 12m (Victor idle), 14m (Victor attached to Survivor) or 16m (Victor controlled) according to the DbD wikia.

  • Definitely! This inconsistency with toolboxes feels pretty unfair, with how easy to get the event items currently are.

  • It is annoying for sure, but doesn't the pop-up go away after you hover your cursor over it once?

  • Seconded, I would love an option for that. I find the text boxes really cluttered and unnecessary.

At least let us disable it for regular items that I can read about in my inventory whenever I want. I can maybe see the preview boxes be helpful for special items, but personally I think they should have stayed against Vecna only.

  • Perks having different colors in the same tier got patched out a few years ago for consistency. If you're seeing someone with unique colors like that, it's either an older video from before 2021, or they're using a custom texture pack for perks.

  • As was said in this thread, it's a pretty important event happening in game. And I don't think giving players less information is beneficial game design. For people who don't want to tunnel, it's still very useful to know where survivors are and when things are happening. And when you're in chase, it's easy for a lot of people to miss what's happening on the HUD.

You mentioned instinctively going back to hook due to the notification when you're not in chase already, but by your own argument wouldn't you be aware where the survivor was hooked and pay attention to the HUD, to deduce what happened?

  • The bar actually fills up pretty fast if the Killer is right in front of you and staring you in the face. If it's filling up slower then they're not quite "face-camping", or there is another Survivor nearby in which case the Killer doesn't really have a reason to leave.

After the gens are powered, there isn't much for the Killer to do but defend the last kill if they wish, so it would be strange to punish that.
