They're not all different now though. I had a SM the other day who had the perfect corridor almost of a 3 gen. The way a tile, shack, wood pile, and the hill were situated, she just holed up there from the start. She could defend the one gen that we could reach indefinitely, because the other two were in the corridor that required taking down numerous drones before we could reach it or get away, and the one she stayed next to was next to shack, which had the hill right next to it, so we had one small path to it but no protection. It's hard to explain. Or we could run through and just get immediately exposed of course. No one DCd or let go on hook but when it had dragged on long enough everyone just slowly went afk, myself included. I went and did the dishes. 3 gen mechanic didn't matter because we couldn't even get to the gens.

    That sounds awful 😞

    This, pretty much.

But right or wrong, Skull Merchant's perception is sealed. She has been shunned, and no matter what changes are made, she's going to remain so.

    You're both right.

Despite some time and multiple changes, most of the community has simply rejected SM.

I don't understand the double standards. Why is it an issue that survivors want to communicate in game whether it's by VC or a chat wheel that DBD Mobile has? But nobody has an issue with people using Voice chat? 4 MAN SWF knows everyone loadout, solo players don't. They got more or less basekit kindred too, and bond roughly. This is why solo survivors are upset, we are pushed to the side, yet SWF has everything solo players want. DBD mobile has the best QOL for solo survivors, so I don't understand why don't they just follow the template and add it to the base game. It's just not fair. I am tired that people have advantages because using third party programs and are playing with friends. I don't know anything about DBd Mobile 100% but I know they got chat wheels and we can see loadouts. I am ranting because they got no problem with VC yet are not adding any form of communications in the game which is hypocritical. Like you can't have issues adding communications in the game yet allow third party comms. I can't tell if this is supposed to be a party game or not since it seems like you need to be in a party in order to play.

The mobile version of the game was recoded from the ground up, by an entirely separate team. That's why it has different cool things that the base game does not.

They've given a couple of reasons over the years why they aren't interested in adding in comms. Things like language barriers and the prevalence of comms already available on the various platforms. Imo they just don't want the moderation nightmare as others have said.

However I agree survs should be able to see loadouts of their allies so they can act more intelligently, with or without comms. And yeah an appropriate chat wheel would help as well.

To be fair, my friends, I don't think anyone expected such heavy restrictions right from the get go.

Replacing hooks with cages was a given, and we knew it would happen. But I am sure everyone expected to play the characters they like to play. Now it seems like you are basically screwed if you don't main any of the first 5 original killers (excluding Hag for some reason, even though she was here before Huntress).

The very reason why everyone wanted 2v8 was for killer duos. Yes, BHVR will changed the mode eventually, but its very first version won't have the one thing people wanted. I can understand the frustration.

Maybe because Hag was not freely available across all platforms? So some players may not have access to her based on what they play on?

I agree! For matchmaking its a great ratio. To give an overview over the playerbase, its a horrible and illogical statement. There is no clear cut like that.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3718466#Comment_3718466

If 53% of the players play soloq, then the other 47% have to be killer and 2man, 3man and 4man swf. Putting it in this relation, I do think its a majority.

It's 53% of all survs globally that are Solo, and the remaining are in a SWF, with two-mans the most common of those by far. Not including killer players.

As far as I know they've never released numbers breaking down what percentage of the playerbase is surv or killer most of the time, but I'll look around.

  • It's something like 53% or so Solos. A majority but not overwhelmingly.

  • Make the Broken Keys super duper ultra rare, be found only in chests, and allow them to instantly open one door once the gates have been powered.

  • I'm all for any form of Cross Progression, especially for our long-suffering Switch cousins. Just surprised the reasons why it is been asked for repeatedly and loudly pretty much since the ports happened isn't brought up as much.

this is gotta be the most braindead thing ever. if they truly cared about the games longevity and playerbase they would tell sony and whoever that they are adding cross progression. every other game has added cross progression their should be no reason they cant aswell. its not a problem with deals. if others games can do it without an issue they can too

It absolutely is a difficult problem. The smoothest deals are already in place when the game launches, but back in 2016 this game was out only on Steam. A year and a half or so later it was ported over to the consoles, without any Cross Progression agreement in place. For that you can blame the devs some, sure, but no one knew DBD would expand as quickly & as hugely as it did.

Since then they (in my belief) have honestly tried to hammer out a deal, and it hasn't happened, and the deal with Nintendo ran into technical problems. Sony and Microsoft both likely view players leaving their systems as potential monies lost, pure and simple, and aren't focusing on the customer aspect of it. And the devs can't make them either.

So what is most likely to happen if there ever is Cross Progression is a very limited one, where things like most perks and levels and items and add-ons are able to be transferred, but not a lot of cosmetics and DLC stuff. It would depend on how players got their stuff, through the store or through the console. A huge mess.

I like to use completely different badges and banners when playing the two roles.

It would be great if when I click to play Survivor my preferred Badge and Banner is all set and when I swap to Killer, theirs is too.

As the number of Badges and Banners grows, I really hope to see this 🙏

I agree this would be an awesome option, and would show off more of the various banners & badges with players who do play both roles!

Good changes but they should bring back his flick. Overall it's a nerf but not a critical one and will make this killer more fun to play as and against.

They said lowering the graphics wouldn't do anything or something. The game is throttled by the CPU on consoles but more than enough opimised for the GPU.

Yeah, our machines are strong enough to run this game well, but the way it was coded they have trouble digesting it. Just as many laptops & lower-end PC's can struggle with it as well.

That bottlenecking was the reasoning they gave when they fessed up that they just couldn't get the prior gen machines to run their game at a steady 60 fps, despite them being able to on paper.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

Honestly, the difference between Low and Ultra Graphics is probably more of an advantage than this, and it doesn't make your game look like complete ass.

I believe us on console are locked in at High graphics settings, and cannot change it. For a while I was wondering if we would regain anything performance-wise if we could change that setting like our PC cousins can, but like a year back or so they said no it wouldn't'.

  • Love you precious Switch cousins!

the community has been asking for years. They know it's badly wanted by the community, but most of it is out of their control. They need to strike a deal with Sony and Microsoft that all parties can live with, and that hasn't happened yet.

A couple of surveys ago they asked us if we'd be interested in a partial limited kind of Cross Progression, where some things would transfer over but nothing bought without shards I think. So most levels, items, add-ons, and prestiges would go, but maybe not DLC's and many cosmetics etc.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/413421/wicked-restriction-please

How can they have Wicked and DS/OTR active at the SAME TIME? Wicked only works on their first hook. They don't have flip-flops so hook them somewhere else if it's such a problem. Agitation helps.

Agitation and to a lesser extent Iron Grasp mitigate so many annoyances in this game. Much like Lightborn, having it when you need it feels soooooo good. The surv equivalent is running things like Unbreakable and making good use out of it.

  • Yeah those rituals are intended to coax players into playing the opposite role more often, which is a good thing actually.

Playing both sides does make you better in both roles, and slightly more sympathetic about the annoyances & stresses players experience. Also getting out of the comfort zone some allows for growth opportunities.

  • Now now, I ran with some PlayStation folks a while back that I couldn't talk to through the Xbox, and two on Xbox who chose not to join.

But, yeah nearly all are on comms.

….a quick replay at the end.

So instead of showing everyone running in a field, you coudl just replay some highlights like Mario Kart 8 does. A few attacks and dodges and chases.

See, when you buy comestics, you don't really see much of them when you're playing. It's the other players who see them. A little replay at the end of each match would make them feel a bit more worth it.

They've said many times any match replay system cannot be added at this point, would have needed to been coded in the original game in 2016. Apparently it's near-impossible now, the reason sadly the players themselves have to record their matches when reporting.

For dead by daylights future, I want to give you some good feedback to shape up the game future and eventually get more players.

    1. The games graphics should be very realistic, making it part of the most realistic games.
    2. Rain and rain droplets should be more realistic.
    3. In some maps of the game their should be 3 weathers in the game with a 70% chance of the map having the same weather, a 20% chance of the map having a windy weather, a 5% chance of the map having a rainy weather, and a 5% chance of the map having both rainy and windy weather.
    4. Survivor/killer animations should be more smoother to make it look real
    5. Night skies should be darker to make the game a bit more scary.
    6. When the killer hits a survivor with its weapon, the blood stains will stay on both the survivor and the killer and his weapon and will stay their the whole match
    7. When survivor s get hit, if a survivor is near any object, their blood will spill on whatever they are right next to.
    8. Mori's should be 20x as bloody and gory to make the kill more terrifying. And their blood will leak out after the kill is finished.
    9. When a survivor gets hooked, their blood will immediately start to leak from their body, and when they get unhooked, their blood will stay their the entire match

That's all, I hope you add all of this in the game 😁

There's absolutely no way the prior Gen consoles could run DBD with any of that, prolly melt a Switch.

my pc isn't the best in the world but i play overwatch, fortnite and more without a problem— and before the update my pc ran dbd with minimal problems, only the occasional sputter or frame drop. but right when the update dropped it was essentially unplayable. sputtering/dropping to 14 frames every few seconds, chugging along (this on top of the rubberbanding).

i had to go through my settings and drop them, as well as go through multiple tweaks in my ini files, pc devices, launch options (-DX11 -xgeshadercompile -nothreadtimeout -NoVerifyGC) and other band-aid fixes to be able to get it even remotely consistent in terms of frames and even then it feels terrible compared to before.

changing my launch options so that it launched with dx11 rather than forcing it to dx12 helped maybe the most.

is anyone else having issues to this degree? they say it shouldn't effect performance in the most recent patch notes and it feels like i'm being gaslit lol. i can play any other games just fine, but dbd runs like i've got it hooked up to a potato.

As a consoler much of what you wrote seems like a different language. But nearly everyone has had performance issues since the update to UE5, with rubber banding the biggest complaint. Today's patch is supposed to address most of it.

Are we only allowed to have one bug fix every 2 weeks? Why are you guys so limited about it? I don't understand this argument.

Why is not having a concussion when playing a game suppose to be our standard? Should we get no more bug fixes now that this is fixed?

Why can't I express my disappointment about the slow progress of bug fixing just because one thing got fixed? I added my acknowledgment of the strobing fix only because I knew some people could say "but they fixed this thing!" and that's it.

The discussion isn't about if strobing should've been fixed or not at all. I don't know why y'all are twisting it this hard.

They plan out their in-between updates with various bug fixes like weeks ahead of time, and as others have mentioned the strobing problem no doubt forced back many things they already had in the works. Now throw in an Engine upgrade. Lots to deal with.

And I think we all need to keep in mind each patch has to be reviewed & certified by Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft separately, plus have a cost to them as well. If it was just Steam for instance, they prolly could put out three updates a week if they cared to. But it's not.

Plus the devs notoriously do not believe in Crunch either. That's one of the reasons BHVR consistently scores high as an employer.!

Reply here if you think custom maps would be cool - They wouldn't need to earn you BP or anything. It would be just like when you play with a group of 5 except they'd be open for public matches.

As far as I know they've always said they have no plans on a DBD 2, which would be a nightmare for dealing with all of the licensesd content.

The general consensus here, even from the mods, is that it's 'discriminatory' to suggest people who have 150+ ms should be restricted from playing on certain servers. I suspect its because the truth is that BHVR just doesn't want to invest in more servers.

The amount of Latin American players that play on NA is frustrating because the game falls apart really badly when the killer has bad ping.

Its not their fault and I don't blame them ofc.

It is true players in Asia and South America aren't near any of the game's servers, so many have to VPN around or eat 200+ ping just to play. Globally we need more servers, which costs if they're decent ones.

  • @SHOTGUNNKING88 said:

I physically cannot enjoy the game as it is all because of disconnection penalties. I don't leave the matches, I get flat out booted from them due to either my internet dropping or the servers being bad, and then I watch as I passively gain more suspension time. Most cases the game plays fine, then outta nowhere i get booted and watch as now I have a 30 minute suspension for my first match of the day. Its frustrating to put it bare bone simply.

Their servers have been wonky worse than usual since the last big update that's for sure. Unfortunately their DC penalty system doesn't differentiate between connection issues or manual disconnects, and treats them all the same. Otherwise it would be open to too much abuse by yanking cords etc.

Whenever they do have to turn off the penalties for whatever reasons players leave for minor inconveniences, and the games quickly get out of control.

Why does this game even allow you to make a premade 4 person group when it's a 1 vs 4? Nothing to punish voice chat yet are not balancing the game around them? It is not fair for one team to play solo, then have 4 people on comms. Why is there no regulation on the external use of voice chat? It is game breaking. Can't play any stealth killer with a SWF on communications, and cannot play any killer that uses traps against SWF with communication. You have to deal with SWF using broken combos with no counter.
I am more shocked how people are complaining more about tunnelling and camping than a 4 man group on communications.

The difference between a solo survivor, and a 4 man on communications is a complete joke and then people complain why killers are OP when it is possible to have every single player in this game be in a premade 4 man on communications literally giving them advantages equivalent to like 10 perks if they wanted to.

Survivors complain why people play the same 'broken' killers. You constantly have 4 man group in higher mmr where using any killer with any big disadvantage is a guaranteed loss. Try playing a killer such as trapper against a SWF where they are telling their friends your exact trap location, making the killer's ability completely useless or a stealth killer.

Cool, people can play with their friends, then how is BHVR going to balance this around players playing solo? Everyone including their mother can see they are struggling to balance this game. Solo players are as punished as killers because of the SWF system. Because of this system, BHVR has to assume everyone is playing in a premade, otherwise, it would be completely impossible to win against SWF. If you noticed, the only people who are not complaining about balance are the people in SWFs. The only people who I've seen counter them are those with thousands of hours. Reaching high MMR as killer isn't hard because lower MMR is full of solo Q survivors. Now I am stuck playing with constant 4 man swf bullying squad that I just cannot be bothered. Many killers I enjoy playing, where I cannot even use my ability because of VC is completely idiotic.

If you see I made previous posts complaining about solo Q, started playing killer and now I understand why the balance in this game is messed up. Tunnelling, camping and slugging are nothing but a reaction to SWF. That entire system needs to go otherwise there will be no improvements to balance. Even I started tunnelling and slugging because now I have to assume everyone is playing in a 4 man, and that is what a lot of killers assume as well. Unfortunately, I see no improvements to balancing until SWF is limited to custom games or reduced to 2 players maximum. Until that system is gone, I don't think I will return to this game. Solo Q is so bad that I had to switch to playing Killer, spent so much money on Survivor then later heard from the community that you are not supposed to win without a premade. I've been attacking killers the whole time when they weren't even the problem in the first place, it's the way this game is designed is the problem. Anyways good luck to you guys hanging to the thread of hope, it's only going to get worse.

How in the world could they do anything about comms being used, if they actually wanted to? Discord is it's own separate thing, and the consoles have built-in comms that are entirely separate from whatever game is being played. There's no way to regulate that.

As far as removing SWF, that is one of the true things that could kill off this game. It is one of the biggest reasons for DBD's success, and drives cosmetic sales tremendously.

The only reason I can come up with is to cut down on potential lobby dodging maybe?

There's lots of players not near enough the too-few servers to get a decent connection, like in Asia and South America, so many have to VPN around to play at all. The solution to that is more servers globally.

Could they even know if players are even using a VPN? Outside of rejecting rough pings?
