I would say potentially... You will still have friends that play like clowns, but at least you know from the beginning what to expect ^^
That's true. But also your mates are less likely to sandbag or yeet on first hook either, and both are a menace in solo. You also know they will come for you in endgame if they can.
-
The main advantage of SWF is midigating the randomness of your teammates, the quality of which is the reason solo queue can be so frustrating at times. I feel this is more impactful consistently than any info shared.

Only thing worse than this is the silent survivor power hard countering Spirit's power in this event. What is the reasoning for this?
I imagine they didn't take Wraith's power into consideration for the event's functions.

In the case of Myers, doesn't all this really indicate the problems are more with the add-ons rather than the only viable counterplay?

I still don’t think you get the issue, why not make sure they get the approval in advance, instead of announcing an event and then telling people they can’t play. They should have gotten the go ahead before hand. It’s crazy to me how people meat ride companies like this.
The last time I remember one of these Certifications messing up the timings of a major update was back when Trickster was due out. One of the consoles didn't verify it in time (usually takes 3-5 days) and the chapter was pushed back for everyone by a week.
Usually they update everyone all at the same time, and have done so for years. Most likely for this they said ship it as most players will be able to get it, because Xbox I believe is the smallest playerbase of the consoles. And I'm on Xbox too sadly.

Nice to see some wholesome positive threads for a change! 😁

Yeah, it's perfect description of his gameplay. He is not super weak now, but mid. But bland is his second name, definately.
I hope they will give him back 180 flicks (or at least 135) and make possible to turn after scamper, so it will be at least slightly useful in some situations.@zarr said:
Meanwhile Nurse still starts recharging tokens as soon as fatigue begins… No idea why they wisened up to it having being ridiculous that Blight started recharging rush tokens during fatigue, and find the time to do this for Chucky, but not Nurse.
That said, Chucky's cooldown really is ridiculously short right now, and believe it or not, for good Chucky players the recent changes were actually more so a buff. With good timings and mechanics, it is rare not to convert a Slice & Dice into a hit. That on top of the stealth that can regularly net you surprise hits results in people getting "two-tapped" left and right. The adjustment to not have the cooldown timer start during the attack is more than reasonable.
The changes I would want for Chucky are reworking Rat Poison which makes things much too easy, and bringing back 180° flicks, if with the use of a "turn rate" add-on or two.
I though the reasoning for getting rid of that flick was because it wasn't possible with a controller?

Chaos Shuffle got me thinking about a new game mode
How about a mode where the survivor/killer you play as is random, and once your character is chosen, your locked to only using their three teachable perks?
I'm thinking it might have people gain new appreciation for teachables that they would otherwise never use, and it would be thematic since the perks were designed for the character in question.Thoughts?
Interesting idea. I wonder if everyone who gets David would yeet on out though? 😂😋

Chaos Shuffle is the best thing to happen to this game in recent times. Bring back our beloved mode! Plus kidnamedfinger's family is suffering. Don't let this continue.
This is the evilest most guilt-ridden reasoning I've seen in a long time! 😂🤣

You're talking about Cross Progression which isn't available yet for the PlayStations or for Xbox yet. I believe they're going to talk more about this in July.
It's looking like a partial transfer deal, where character levels and probably items & add-ons will move but maybe not DLC's and some cosmetics & unlocks depending on how they were acquired. Stuff bought with cells probably are good, but through the platform's store most likely not. I imagine achievements & trophies would all need to be gotten again, as they're considered platform-specific.

-
DBD is a strange mix of party and comp, depending entirely on the mindset of the players themselves going into the match.
The game has a hidden MMR system, and impactful RNG elements all over the place. Hard to call that super competitive, and when all players play uber optimally & bring the best sweat the cracks in the game break wide open. The average player doesn't have to suffer through that very often, and shouldn't want to.

Sparked up a dbd addiction been playing non stop for a month at least
Been pretty much doing 50/50 killer and suv and i think a few things need to be looked at
First off where are hag players? Havent vsed a single one?
I found out you can wipe her traps away now? If so maybe they should increase her movement speed cause thats really all shes got
And also anti tunnel needs a rework
I dont tunnel as a killer its boring for both sides
However why is someone able to flashlight save, blind me after pallet stuns after around 30 seconds of chase and then decisive strike me when i finally down them
I didnt tunnel them yet they go after me while i chase someone else yet im being stunned by an anti tunnel perk
Same goes for unhooking...il go after the unhooker just to have the unhooked body block me to take the hit and then say i was tunnelling????
I might as well tunnel as this point? I dont mind the fact there are anti tunnel mechanics in the game but they need a looked at
Welcome back! I'm also surprised the surv being unhooked doesn't loose collision for a short while, just to mitigate what you're describing. Tunneling in general is still one of the most talked about aspects of the game, same as always. I too would like to see a few more things tested out and maybe added to that Conspicuous Action list.
They made a serious effort to remove Flashlight interactions with certain killer powers, such as what you noticed with Hag's traps, but also not burning Wraith anymore.
As far as playing Hag herself, here is my controller and Xbox give her a spin. And remember you cannot insta-swing through a teleport with her on console. Have fun!

The community has for the most part completely rejected her, and even the passage of time hasn't really helped much. I appreciate you trying to be rational here, but you're going up against an entirely irrational feeling. Good luck with that.

If you bind the left and right keys to Q&E it's significantly easier to do infinite circles around certain maps. It's also really good for curves on various terrain and walls, especially rocks. S curves are super easy also. I use Q&E for most of his movements apart from close tracking when a survivor is in my face in the open.
Have you tried Billy with a controller?

SWFs do perform better than SoloQ, but it's not because of comms. The reason is that SoloQ players are only held accountable by themselves. SWFs are held accountable by their friends.
The reason I asked about the killers you play is because you doubt the official stats released by BHVR. Over 1976 games, Wraith's kill rate according to Nightlight.gg is 59.77%.
That's over a 28 day period from May 10 2024 - June 7 2024.
I'm always dubious about pulling stuff from Nightlight.
It's player provided, which opens the door for cherry picking what they upload. Is only in English so it'll lack a global view completely, which explains perk usage differences like Self Care. Chances are players interested in posting their trials like that are likely much more competitive than the average casual players that are the bulk of the playerbase. And I highly doubt the consoles mess around with it at all, who again make up most of the playerbase. It's just a guide sorta, despite being all we got out there to look at.

While in those games it could make a huge difference, in dbd it's not the same. Sometimes bots can patch it up for some matches even tho they still need to be improved.
There are windows APIs to detect if a process has crashed or got killed/terminated, so no abusing (if it's correctly made).
Still think that it's not fair, especially when the support can't help solve the issue.
Players then could just pull the cord out of their routers, way too open to abuse. And I doubt that windows thingy would work for the consoles.

It is rather impressive how players discover and develop (pun intended) all these tricks & so-called techs. In particular with Blight.

Something like half of all survs are in at least a two-man SWF, with trios much less common and quads even less so. Showing this info in the lobby would absolutely lead to mass lobby dodging and destroy MMR completely. Wait times for everyone, everywhere, would soar drastically as MMR is wreaked beyond repair.
If they added in this wouldn't a killer shop around until they get just four solos, throw on Knock-Out and the like, and proceed to steamroll everyone? So SWF survs get no matches and they all quit the game. And solos survs are constantly crushed even more than now and they too quit the game.
That leaves just you and bots. Have fun!

Show who got invited AFTER the match instead. Should be easy to do with a symbol in the endscreen lobby as BHVR already claimed to have SWFs stats. I think many killers would be suprised when it's a 2 man SWFs or just 4 good solos. Also i would love to see icons for each plattform post game, like in other online crossplay games.
Those icons like the PlayStation or Xbox logos I think they'd have to pay for.

Now starting on the pc I lost all my progress 💔💔 This game has been out for YEARS and i find it strange that cross progression isn’t a thing. BHVR yk what to do 🤞
A partial Cross Progression is in the works, with more info due out in July I believe. It'll be most of your stuff and levels, just stuff bought in-store like DLC's may not be included.

Maybe they mean more delay. Pc can use powers faster with lower imput time, 120fps and faster controls to use. As mentioned console is clunkier to play so that can make it seem pc players are faster.
This is what I'm thinking as well.
It's one of the reasons you don't really see killers like Hag played with a controller. Something like a third- to a half-second delay on everything means you cannot do things like inst-swing as you teleport. With a mouse you simply bind it to the scroll wheel for that snap reaction. Who with a mouse would even bother with Hag if you couldn't set her up like that?

do you think Oni flicking for 180 is possible on controller? You need extremely high sensitivity to pull it off. Something that controller doesn't have but you can somewhat cheat the exploit by looking up. For a long time, Blight on controller was also unable flick and i want to argue that controller players probably weren't able to hug tech either. they eventually changed sensitivities for blight specifically for controllers to be able to flick. I remember reading this in one of the patch notes.
If you look up at the frame-perfect time you'll might get to about 140-150° I'd say. Maybe. If the ping gods are in your favor…

Shouldn't this logic be applied for Chucky's flick and Blight hug tech? /shrug
I thought part of the reason Chucky's flick got removed was due to it not being possible with a controller? Should we apply that logic to everything?

So full stop. I am a killer main. I just like the gameplay more, it feel more rewarding than survivor imo. But because I personally ######### hate the 'Us vs Them' mentality this game generates I decided to give myself a challenge. While I'll still play killer, I want to play more survivor matches to try and get a feel of what survivor mains go through. Know thy enemy know thyself. Michael Jordan said that. Probably.
However I only had a few survivors prestige 1 so during the bloodmoon event I got a bunch more atleast prestige 1. So once I felt I had a good number of survivor perks unlocked for everyone it's time to hunker down. But through my several matches (Around 50+ if I had to guesstimate) here's what i've observed and learned and hopefully this can help build a bridge for survivor and killer mains.
- I honestly recommend giving the other side a try. I know we tend to get stuck in our ways but I honestly recommend killer mains giving survivor a shot from to time and ESPECIALLY recommend survivors to atleast try some killer matches here and there. What I did to help me was I gave myself a 'Play 4 Survivor games and you can have a killer game or two after'.
- Flashlight blinds are annoying af as killer and still are but i've learned it's actually quite hard to get a flashlight save. So now I can put some respect whenever a survivor gets a successful flash save on me.
- Most survivor perks are trash. This was a sentiment i've heard for awhile and… yeah no I gotta agree with this. Similar to how many killers feel like only a small handful of perks are actually usable, it seems to be the same case for survivors. I think it also comes down to how when it comes to killer perks you can atleast synergize with the killer's power but that seems way more limited when playing survivors.
- Solo Q is ######### ROUGH. I thought y'all were exaggerating on this but GOOD LORD you guys were right.
- Yes tunneling does suck, however as a killer main, there are times where it's the best option… just not at 5 gens gang.
- Seeing alot of Nea mains try to be Noob3's second coming has solidified how much I hate that ######### character even more xD.
- I get excited when I see lesser played killers, especially when it's killers I main myself. For example, I ######### love Unknown. He's my sweet baby boy. But I was surprised by how few Unknowns I went against. I think during this little month long experiment I think I faced maybe 2 Unknowns.
- I got reported because by a teammate because I didn't use gen rush perks. So… that was fun.
- I still wish survivors had some kind of other goal than just generators.
- I've gotten some good ideas on killer builds. Seriously, play some survivor matches and you'll be surprised when you see a killer you play use a build you never even thought of.
- I also got reported because I didn't bring a flash light when everyone else brought a flashlight (Seriously BHVR needs to do something about these false reports)
- Successfully looping a killer for two or three gens is surprisingly pretty fun (and a bit harder than it looks)
- I never understood the attachment some people have for survivors because imo they are basically all just cosmetic but… Gabriel is my sweet boy and he needs more cosmetics.
Probably some more thoughts but these are my thoughts so far as a killer main giving survivor a try.
Appreciate you doing this little experiment and giving your observations to us. I too wish many players didn't just play one role only. Besides it making you better at both roles, it also increases empathy for the other side during trials, something we need more of imo.

the game is worse with dc penalties, they don’t work or function right and have several loopholes that make them redundant. The game has major amounts of issue and unfair content that need ironing out to incentivise players to not want to dc. The notion that you should instead just tell players to piss off is not by any means a better substitute than simply letting players leave miserable matches. Everyone’s guilty at some point of doing this and you’d be lying to say you haven’t dc’d over something minor. I’ve had matches in chaos where survivors will dc instantly at the sound of victor or cause they got downed first, people still dc often and I don’t cry or complain because nothing is lost and the match will continue or I’ll simply queue up again. Dcing would only impact you if something was lost but with DBD having no such thing unless you really love he bloodpoints then ur simply wrong
Most players do care about their Bloodpoints, as most haven't unlocked anywhere near everything, and that can be why some don't instantly give up when others ditch their team.

they still dc left and right for no reason with them so…
Oh no no no, across the entire playerbase it gets so much worse without those penalties.
With them off players proceed to DC for the tiniest inconvenience. Don't like the map? Get downed first? Hex gone in 23 seconds? Hooked first? Mindgame lost? Smell your own fart? Whatever little irritation, and they're gone.
In a matter of hours the trials get quickly out of control, and very much unplayable. Each and every time. Those penalties are the only thing holding it all together. Kinda thinking they should actually be more severe after the second straight one really.

The system isn't being subverted though.
The current system isn't particularly good and prioritizes matchmaking speed over balanced matches when it is working properly. It isn't like MMR changes function just because a killer leaves the lobby since it not that narrowly gated to begin with and since by default we can't see the MMR scores you have no way of knowing how much of an actual difference there is.
All I know is the first or maybe the second lobby formed has the best chance to have something like a fair match. And we're dancing around that.

Didn't BHVR promise to optimize console in like year 2 or 3 of this game? I don't blame anyone for being upset about that
Back in the spring of 2019 they set a goal to get all platforms running their game at a steady 60 fps, among other things promised. Years later they fessed up that they just couldn't do it, saying there's coding resource bottleneck problems that apparently is unsurmountable. Our PC cousins will notice this as well, as DBD is an unusually super voracious gobbler of resources.

I would rather they make the maps good instead.
That, or at the very least, put an equal amount of biased maps in a realm or something. So you can't completely guarantee you'll get a good map. Greenville being added to the Withered Isle made the Ichorous Loam offering less good for Survivors just by existing.
There's too many achievements etc that require you to go to a specific map for them to axe map offerings as a whole, imo, and it would only treat a symptom of the underlying problem, which is bad map design.
I agree. The work that needs to be done is tweaking problematic maps. Those offerings themselves aren't the issue, it's concerns with various maps and problems on them.

It's very possible it's a hand eye coordination issue but this literally ruins the game for me when I have a bad run with this. Have a survivor dead to rights, they spin into me or just out of my view to the left or right and I whiff and completely lose sight of them often losing 10+ meters of distance after the whiff because I literally have no earthly clue where they went.
I've tried turning my sensitivity up to 100 and it feels absolutely ridiculous. Like the slightest move of the joystick makes you turn around in a circle. Sometimes I spin with them and get lucky and hit them even though I'm basically swinging blind. The worst feeling is having a survivor down at shack when they are going for the window and have them move to the side slightly I whiff and they vault threw the window while I'm in my attack cooldown, resetting the whole shack chase. My last game I lost almost entirely from 3 or 4 whiffs that could have been downs resulting in pain res hooks.
Call it a skill issue and it very well may be but I need advice or help I'm at my whits end with this costing me games, it feels so bad outplaying someone at a loop just to be last second cheesed out of a hit because my eyes can't follow the quick movement. I'm also running into that short m1 lunge bug a lot as well which is costing me hits and downs.
I've gotten decent at either stopping or even taking a step back to deal with being spun, but yeah it still can happen. For Piggy I use the sensitivity at 80, for Huntress a bit less than 70, and the other killers that I play I go for max.
The sticks just cannot respond quick enough, and that half- to a third-second input delay on everything compound the issues. Even if the ping gods are being very generous,. The killers simply cannot be run to their full potential, and several no where near it. And bless you our precious Switch cousins dunno how you do it.
This isn't the only recent post about controllers and console performance in general, and there's been plenty over the years as well. Quite a bit of all this can be midigated by finally supporting M&K.

And yet people hate mismatched games, and survivors especially seem adamant about being able to go next as fast as possible when they happen, meaning that they actually do care about matchmaking quality quite a bit. Personally I think its a combination of running the numbers game (more matches = better chance of at least one of them being good) paired with impatience (both for queue times and unfavorable matches.) In other words, I wouldn't be surprised if many people prioritize matchmaking speed because they're expecting poor quality matches and assume they'll need a higher frequency to have actual good matches. Or maybe they just assume that longer matchmaking will be some egregious amount of time instead of maybe a few minutes more.
I still think backfill respecting MMR should at least be experimented and tinkered with instead of just shrugging and ignoring it altogether.
I agree better quality matchmaking should be the priority. But right now the only ways I see to make that happen is we tolerate longer times, or we lock the lobbies once all five players are found, or we get rid of lobbies all together.
And I do not believe any of those three options currently have enough support from anyone, players or devs. So here we are.
