Also, 5k bloodpoints every level feels like a joke

  • While in those games it could make a huge difference, in dbd it's not the same. Sometimes bots can patch it up for some matches even tho they still need to be improved.

There are windows APIs to detect if a process has crashed or got killed/terminated, so no abusing (if it's correctly made).

Still think that it's not fair, especially when the support can't help solve the issue.

    How is that unhealthy?

If someone dc-ed in a spur of the moment rage, then the dc penalty gives them time to cool off.

If someone dc-ed just because the game crashed, that's why the dc penalty is very short to start.

If someone is consistently dc-ing because of crashes, the dc penalty gives them time to find what's wrong with their internet. After all, bhvr turns the dc penalty off when the server issues are consistent on their end.

And if someone is consistently rage-quitting to the point where the DC penalty builds up to anything over 10 minutes, at that point the penalty is just preventing them from playing a game they clearly aren't enjoying anyway, while keeping them from ruining games with people who actually have enough of a spine to see a match to the end

Cool. But you didn't take into account frequent crashes not related to network but something else.

I've been dealing with these and still don't know what's the issue, since they happen inconsistently and randomly. I am currently on a 30 mins ban, of course I've never dc-ed from any match but still suffering the penalties. The only way to lower the ban for me is to take 2/3 days breaks from dbd every now and then.

BHVR support didn't solve anything sadly.

They should put on a system that can detect when a player is really dc-ing and when not. It should be really easy to detect when the 'leave match' button is pressed, of course people can still shut down the game from steam or process managers.

I don't know if there are windows apis to detect a process shutdown or a crash BUT something has to be done IMO.

  • Well, you only need Distressing to complete this challenge and it is a base perk available to anyone.

  • Yes, please!

What? Actually trying to fix underlying issues instead of a futile way to treat symptoms that will just manifest again? Nah, that sounds too logical. I say we should just permaban people who aren't sweating at maximum capacity every game. Surely, that will make the game better.

Yeah, sadly this is the reflection of the "modern" society, cure the symptom not the disease. Everyone who thinks they should make DCs penalties more severe, please think logical like others have already said:

Maybe we fix the things that cause the surrender?

    • Create more balanced environment,
    • get rid of broken meta builds,
    • don't allow to stack 4 regressions?
    • Rework mmr so i get surviviors on my level of skill?
    • give us some tunneling prevention mechanism?
    • give us the way to fight with slugging?

I would add to the fixes:

    • killer build balance, consisting in having some perks banned for certain killers (Floods of Rage, Nowhere to hide on Nurse), basically every perk that boost some killer too much.

Of course there would still be people who will continue to ruin the game for others, but at least it will become rarer.

  • I don't get why they didn't re-activate the adepts since st returned to dbd

  • "I'm tired to see nurses, ranged and high mobility killers" -> remove MFT. Legit thought process.

How about nerfing mobility killers instead? How does that sound? How about the nurse getting reworked since it completely ignores the game mechanics (instead of adding additional blinks)? How about removing alchemist's ring and addons that increase speed for blight?(how come the blight need speed addons when it runs iirc at 9 m/s?) and in addition limiting the rushes to 3/4. How about giving an exhaustion to m2 killers, who can hold m2 power endlessly nullyfing mindgames at a dropped pallet or windows, without being punished (pyramid, deathslinger etc..)?

I think these changes are healthy for the game since it restrict a bit the gap between let's say a blight and a pig and we'll se a wider variety of killers without the needs of a system that would be nth band-aid fix

  • I'm having this issue too and I'm on Linux. I could play with reshade just fine before the last bugfix patch.

The error say that the pakchunk get corrupted (I'm not sure if was the pakchunk 143, I should keep playing until I get the error again, then I'll confirm what number exactly is). Veryfing the game files help solve the issue momentarily until the game crash again.

    I'm on ReShade 5.9.0

i can confirm that it is currently working correctly for me on Steam.

Thank you for the info! Gonna wait for their next move, I won't download the game and then realize that is getting blocked again.

    🤣🤣🤣

Just move on guys, at this point, this will NEVER happen.

I will continue to play other SUPPORTED games on my Steam Deck. Peace and Love.

Same, I stopped playing dbd for 6 months now, I'll continue this way. I won't give them a single cent anymore nor paying for the Epic Games version to use a workaround they can decide to ban me for.

    Just to be clear:

I'm not mad at Behaviour Inc. because they didn't give a ######### about Steam Deck/Linux. I'm disgusted by the way they did """"communicate"""" (lying) with us. I would have preferred a "NO, WE DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT THE STEAM DECK PLATFORM" instead of the hypocritical statement: “I can confirm that we plan on updating our EAC to support the Steam Deck in the future, but we can’t confirm a release date at this time” just to look iNcLuSiVe and KiNd like the propaganda they are pushing on twitter.

  • Hi @Mandy, could you please ask to the dev team if they are aware about the "SteamOS + HeroicGamesLauncher" workaround to play multiplayer matches on Steam Deck/Linux? And why is it possible to only play the EpicGames version of DBD but not the Steam one?

To get to the gist, if at BHVR are worried about "Linux cheaters" they are doing nothing to prevent this issue because it is playable from a linux platform with said workaround.

Hope to have better communication on this topic for the future either if it's a positive or negative report.

    Thanks for your attention

someone can try launch dbd on steam? now I have EAC instantiated error at start after few retries

It's "working" as always, I can get into the menu. Try deleting the EasyAntiCheat directory and verify game files, changing Proton version may give this outcome depending on which version you were using.

I believe BHVR added a server side block. Otherwise what else could it be

    @Pyc said:

guys, we have no eac error! we disconnect from dbd server in lobby, error 500

when we have eac error, we cant open game

You guys are all right, but why does the epic version works and the Steam one doesn't? Cannot be just a server side block otherwise it wouldn't work for Epic too. I may be wrong since I'm far from being an expert tho

The answer could be some differences between these two, maybe it's just a library mismatch or a difference in how the executable from Steam works compared to that of Epic.

I don't know if this have any relevance or is it just an expected result since I don't have the knowledge to analyze a dll/so compiled library but I found this, maybe someone could investigate even more:

(I used the same command for every file you see here)

    user@pc:~$ strings '.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Dead by Daylight/DeadByDaylight.exe' | grep Easy

    This give the following results:

    - DeadByDaylight.exe

    Unloading the EasyAntiCheat library.
Outdated EasyAntiCheat library, does not match with launcher's version.
    EasyAntiCheat Oy1
    EasyAntiCheat Oy0

    - DeadByDaylight-Win64-Shipping.exe :

    ../../../EasyAntiCheat/eac_server64.dll
    ../../../EasyAntiCheat/easyanticheat_x64.dll

    - EasyAntiCheat_x64.dll :

    Easy Anti-Cheat successfully loaded in-game
    User-Agent: EasyAntiCheat-Client/1.0
    EasyAntiCheat\Cache\
    EasyAntiCheat successfully initialized
Error validating EasyAntiCheat code signing certificate.
    EasyAntiCheatPreRelease
    EasyAntiCheat_x64.pdb
    EasyAntiCheat_x64.dll
    EasyAntiCheat Oy1
    EasyAntiCheat Oy0

    - easyanticheat_x64.so :

    EasyAntiCheat\Cache\
    User-Agent: EasyAntiCheat-Client/1.0
    EasyAntiCheat successfully initialized
    Easy Anti-Cheat/1.0.0
    EasyAntiCheat Client

If someone with the Epic version could try the same to see if there are any differences would be cool.

It also tries to download the wine64 eac thing:

[2023.01.07-00.26.35] [Connection] Connecting to URL: https://download.eac-cdn.com/api/v1/games/83/client/wine64/download/?uuid=

it then fails and tries to download it again:

[2023.01.07-00.26.35] [Connection] Connect result: No error (0) Response Code: 200 Destination IP:
[2023.01.07-00.26.35] HTTP Response Code: 200 Curl Code: 0
[2023.01.07-00.26.35] Falling back to a secondary CDN path.
[2023.01.07-00.26.35] [Connection] Connecting to URL: https://download-alt.easyanticheat.net/api/v1/games/83/client/wine64/download/?uuid=

that then once again fails and the log ends there:

[2023.01.07-00.26.35] [Connection] Connect result: No error (0) Response Code: 200 Destination IP:
[2023.01.07-00.26.35] HTTP Response Code: 200 Curl Code: 0
[2023.01.07-00.26.35] [EAC Callback] Code 915. Message: 'HTTP Response Code: 200 Curl Code: 0'.

    download progress stays at 0%

    HOWEVER

there is a file at the same location as the "83" folder called:

    gamelauncher.log

which ends with the following lines:

[Info] [LauncherFinished] EACAsyncResult: 0 Message: 'Easy Anti-Cheat successfully loaded in-game'.
    [Info] Unloading the EasyAntiCheat library.
    [Info] Destroying windows.
    [Info] Exit.

both files appear to have been written to by eac at the same time:

    loader.log 00:26:35
    gamelauncher.log 00:26:38

Yet I have no idea why it says it failed to download the wine64 eac thing but then still successfully loads eac?

    This looks exactly the same as with the Steam version: 2 log files, download at 0 then fallback to https://download-alt.easyanticheat.net/api/v1/games/83/client/wine64/download/?uuid={different id}

  • @Rokolell said:

I wasted some time dumping the DbD logs from RAM. Doesn't look really promising though: EAC sends an auth ticket, then the game goes in the disconnected state and afterward receives some EAC commands.

So, maybe a race condition in EAC authorization?

As far as I can tell the Steam version call the 'wine64' build of EAC which doesn't exist on the EAC servers, this could be the difference between the Steam and the Epic version, maybe the Epic one rely on a different build I don't know because I own the game on Steam only. If someone who have it can confirm this.

    Schermata del 2023-01-07 05-20-27.png eac-log.png

This surely isn't nothing new but maybe there is a way to make the Steam version use the Epic build of the eac?

I'm still able to get to the menu etc. Still kicked when trying to join a multiplayer game. Tutorials work perfectly fine everything seems stable. Experimental Proton Arch linux (not steamdeck) Error 500

Tried to reinstall and fix EAC client with no success.

Removing the EAC folder in the game directory and verifying the game files did solve the problem.

  • Sadly it stopped working for me like 3 hours ago, is anyone having the same problem?

  • They said they will announce this when everything is ready. Hope to see a response from BHVR soon since SteamDeck is the only platform left out.

  • I did the same a month ago, removed Windows from my nvme (which was being seriously damaged by the top quality microsoft drivers). Now I'm reinstalling DBD on my Linux-only machine waiting for BHVR to do something good for us linux users (I feel it's gonna be pretty soon and not Soon™).

Wish the best for you all!

You guys must be very low MMR survivor mains and I've never cringed so hard in my entire life reading this nonsense. People like you praising these balance decisions will be the reason this game dies. You think nerfing Deathslinger like that is a GREAT decision? The guy wasn't even that good in the first place and that's how he gets treated? A joke. Absolute joke. The only people to defend these changers are low MMR survivor mains who apparently can't achieve skill in anything they do so they have to be hand fed everything in their life. It took a year for the developers to add a few seconds on opening a hatch, a YEAR. The only good thing I see is the fact that multiple survivors can't escape now through hatch which was just stupid a broken in the first place. Plague buffs? Barely anything, you still won't see her because she's awful. At least at higher MMR you won't see her, seeing as she will be destroyed by anyone who is decent and knows how she works, and what to do against her. Lets not even talk about survivor perk buffs and boon totems, as if killers are the one that need another objective and not survivors. I can't wait for VHS to release, that's all I can say. The VHS developers must be rolling on the floor laughing, watching the DBD developers destroy their own game. Survivor mains keep praising this type of balance changes, when there is no killers left to play this imbalanced mess, you can enjoy sitting in a lobby having all that fun.

    *Spirit main intensifies*

  • Boon: Few Clicks

    VERY RARE LINUX USERS' PERK

A dev update from Easy Anti Cheat changing a lot in the Linux Gaming scene.

    • It will activate permanently from now on.
    • While active Dead by Daylight dev team click their mouse few times to make their game playable on Linux Distributions.
  • Hope you are trolling about Hillbilly not getting stun by bumping into object lol

That would remove 90% of the skill required to use his chainsaw properly. The only buff it needs is the 3.7.0 patch nerf being reverted aka remove the overheat mechanic. That's all.

You know as Wraith you can easily avoid flashlight burn even in the open by going around the survivor?

  • So we should also remove guaranteed-hits killers (Pyramid, Slinger, Nemesys) when you are at a pallet or window and no matter what you do you get hit anyway. Faking an m2 when a survivor is about to jump a window, then if they go for a fake you can m1 them if they jump they get m2, same for pallets. That's why dead hard should not be removed imho. Can't say the same for Ruin that is nothing than a crutch perk for high mobility killers but necessary for low mobility killers sometimes.

  • Go for it BHVR! Let us finally wipe that windows partition

  • Yeah I know of the terrible change (nerf) of reverse stun, btw I'm talking about regular stuns where the killer is on the opposite site, I have been getting hit every single time during a correct stun where the killer couldn't hit me. This is happening since the new update only

  • @PerfectlyPink

Generators are uninspired mini games that take 0 skill or mental capacity to do. It'd be nice if they had some actual mechanics to them, or at least different mini games in place of the "sKiLl ChEcKs"

You know, when ruin had red skill checks it was a sort of challenge doing gens, you actually were focused on doing great skillchecks in order to progress and I can tell you the new ruin is more a crutch perk(as some people says) then the old one was. They reworked it beacuse for new players was too much of an hassle, despite I remember being rank 13 survivor for the first time and could hit great skillchecks 90% of the time. Now it is a brainless "minigame". Change my mind

  • Entitled survivor/killer mains do not understand how much the rng in this game is a thing. So if they lose a match they're gonna say it is survivor/killer sided. Simple as this.

To all s/k mains, This is not a competitive game even if you do tournaments. Just play the game the best you can (if you really enjoy the game) and don't get mad if you get killed/genrushed, just go to the next match.

This is what I personally do:

As a survivor I like to get chased for as long as possible and I usually end up getting facecamped while the other teammates remaining escape. This is fine.

As a killer I just try hard with my Billyboy trying to get some good flicks and don't mind losing some games.

  • Don't know why I can't quote blue4zion, anyway:

The overheat mechanic is a problem when you want to flick your chainsaw at loops instead of playing mediocre billy. Not to mention when you play with double engravings, rev your chainsaw do a couple of flick and overheating. That is the problem.

Also for camping billy they could add the overheating mechanic only if the killer is on, lets says, 20 meter range of a hooked survivor or actually make the chainsaw not 1 hit. These are some ideas and I know there are a lot more better to make camping with billy not worth it.
