  • I played Meg and I had to face Spirit, she had released one month ago, it was a disaster.

I also remember I didnt escape for the first time until my 7º game and I didnt get a hatch escape until my 23º game, it was on Lery's and at first I didnt knew what the sound was, tought it was something the Killer was doing.

  • Yeah is toxic, bleeding someone when there is no reason to do it is just wasting somebodies time with no benefit at all, especially since bleedouts dont give points. Even in the case of no hooks nearby, if the doors are closed there is no way someone who jumps out of your shoulder can manage to open them unless you have a potato for a brain.

For me toxic is when people go out of their way in their attempts to annoy others when there isnt a real benefit from doing so.

  • Depends on the bracket, at extremely high levels of skill and with SWF the game does favor Survivors but almost nobody plays at that level, at entry level, bad and average level is Killer sided, at good level is quite balanced (assuming a neutral map, at good level, maps are the unbalancing factor most of the time).

Main problem is not the balance but the perception of it with how ranks work, you can be a bad player and reach rank1 playing against even worse players because pipping is not tied to level or rank you face or anything at all, you can literally get rank1 by smashing rank20 (obviusly the pool is too big for that to happen but still it could happen, smashing ranks20 do give double pips to ranks2).

The thing is you play a game against way better players, you lose 1 pip or even blackpip, then against awful players, you double pip, in the end you will reach rank1 no matter what. Here is where the problem lies, you have 3 sets of ranks1/2, the extremely good, the good and the average/bad. Now lets say you are one of the bad rank1 and get paired against good rank1, you are all the same rank but the other side is much much better than you and diferences of skill in this game are extremely noticeable (someone twice as better than you will outperform four times, not two times) so you get bodied, go onto the score scream and voila "but they are ranks1 and 2 like me yet I got smashed" so if you were same level and you got smashed that means the balance is at fault, equal levels should mean equal performance but no, the game sold you an illusion and made you believe you were as good as your oponent while in truth they were out of your league.

In the end people either realize that or come to the forums and demand absurd nerfs. I do hope MMR will at least mitigate matchmaking messes so people end facing people like them.

P.D. this applies to both sides.

P.D.2 Ive seen streamers rank 3 and 2 being absolute trash, awful players making beginners mistakes yet they are reds and whenever they get massacred by decent or good players is always the same mantra "damn swfs sweatlords" or "pffffff myers with brown addons on Badham is SO op...".

    i suppose

but they have done fire effect before with one of the wraith's skins

    and it looked pretty good

You cant compare Wraith Phanton of Vengenace skin to something like Plague's vomit but on fire/ice, the problem is not the fire itself when its an animation on a loop, or a stationary thing on a tile, the problem comes when it has to move and react to player input, especially fire since its supposed to shed light into its sorroundings. A jet of fire or ice like Plague's when she sprays someone is extremely hard to get done right.

There is a reason why flamethrowers are usually ignored as weapons in a lot of games, is very hard to do right and they usually plummet FPSs, also in games that do use flamethrowers or fire grenades they tend to jack up the smoke a lot so its harder to see if the flame is properly done or not.

Lets be honest, DBD doesnt have the best graphics nor the best performance, I dont discard a fire/ice Killer in the future but I believe its better if they focus on something else, at least for the time being.

  • The weird thing about those groups is they are either supergood or superbad, there is no inbetween.

  • Both dynamic fire and ice are very hard to animate and either you do them perfectly or they look horrible and they tend to low FPS a lot when used, I think is better if they dont try it.

Static arenot that hard but powers cant be static like the burning barrels or lit Totems.

Really? Ive had games where im entering chase like a minute into the match and someone dcs and the game cancels.

Thats the server crashing, once the game starts if someone DCs nobody is sent to the lobby except the DCer, the rest remain in the trial.

Im betting your case the server crashed and everyone was kicked out, that guy showed as DC maybe because he got kicked out 1 second faster than you.

  • Readed the title and tought "this is going to be a good one" and I wasnt displeased.

Im sorry but your post seems a bit fishy, actually extremely fishy, lets see how DC during game works ONCE the trial has started.

    • Lobby gets ready by all, loading bars appear on every player computer/console (in this stage you can DC and send everyone to the lobby without a penalty).
    • Offerings are flipped.
    • All loading bars complete (after this point you cant DC and send everyone to the lobby).
    • Map loads and camera starts moving around your character (penalties are enabled by now).
    • ~3 seconds later match starts.
    • Someone DCs and gets a penalty.
    • The other 3 either DC and get penalties too or they have to play the map they hate as 3 instead of 4.

Care to explain how they avoid the map they dont like? 3 people are ingame without posibility of dcing without penalty and have to play the map massively impaired, the only one that avoids the map is one person, this actually benefits the Killer against those pesky SWF™.

P.D. unless they have somehow, managed to find a way to send you to the lobby after DCing once the match has already started Im not buying this story.

  • The worst salt inducing challenges are better done by bribing (at least as Killer) burn BPS and signal them to farm, thats the way Ive done some of the worst like "grab people" or "smash someone after running X meters as Oni" (never played Oni, unlocked him for this tome).

  • @Ethelwulf said:

You see people mocking the killer when they win and make him lose and derank, and you didn't realize it was rude?

    Are you dense?

Someone really new to the game who thinks of it as a party game (what DBD actually is) may think people wont get tilted for something as absurd as t-baging at Exit Gates and instead believe is some kind of "goodbye".

  • It depends, you can try to get more hooks which in turn will give you more points and probably not get a kill at all or you can facecamp and get 1 kill but less BPs.

In any case by that moment you already lost the game so its all about what do you prefer, BPs or 1 kill?, I usually set for BPs.

  • Probably, better models will entice people to buy them also they can use the "visual rework for [insert license here]" as a marketing stunt for a month or two.

I dont think any license holder would complain about free marketing and 0 work from their side.

    SWF is toxic.

The game isn't built for it and has never been balanced around it. It is only here because of the cash it generates and because to a degree it has kept the game alive.

Thanks for debunking Madlordjack post about the root of the problem.

  • Holding the game hostage is a situation where one of the sides cant end it by their own means, if 3 are bodyblocked and 1 can fix gens both sides are in their capacity to end the game, so its not banable unless you bodyblock 3 people and the other is already dead.

    @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2153167#Comment_2153167

True but I would still consider it holding the game hostage if 3 people cannot play the game.

Anyway how would this even happen?

You can bodyblock 3 people on Dead Dawg Saloon upper rooms, the ones with 1 entrance and 2 breakable walls, obviusly Survivors fault and a jerk move but it can happen, I saw it happen with 2 Survivors a couple of times.

  • I want to believe they are thinking about it but they dont exactly know how to do it without making Spirit useless, IMO Spirit is one of those hard to nerf Killers because tweaking her numbers wont really hurt her until you pass a point then she is useless.

Imo if they dont nerf the phasing they have to nerf her tracking A LOT.

This person actually has Buckle Up, Leader and Premonition in the same tier as Sole Survivor, which might be THE worst Survivor perk in the game.

OoO is also above Unbreakable and Borrowed Time, Spine Chill is above freaking Borrowed Time, I don't even...

Spine Chill is actually extremely good, I think is better than BT because you are guaranteed to get value out of it always, knowing when the Killer approaches and having a longer head start on a chase can prolong it a lot. BT is very very good but if the Killer doesnt camp you dont get anything out of it and even if he decides to camp or you bomb the hook a decent Killer will just trade the hook with the saviour. I think they are both S tier but Spine Chill is more consistent so I grade it higher than BT.

I do agree with you on everything else.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2151989#Comment_2151989

No, because my example still stands: he was incredibly common before he was nerfed. The data you showed actually goes against your argument. Billy’s pick rate is lower than many killers, which is especially bad because he is base and killers that you actually have to pay money for have higher pick rates.

He was common because running behind someone and using instasaw required almost no skill at all and it was quite effective except against very good players (which are very rare), Hillbilly now requires a lot more skill and the bad players who depended on that gravitated towards the next stomping-ez-modos (Stridor Spirit and Forever Freddy).

He is not as good as he used to be but people who were very good at Hillbilly can perform extremely well with him still.

  • The hair on Meg and Dwight looks awful.

Claudette the mouth looks weird but at least is closed now.

  • Plague A? yeah no thanks, Im not going to waste 2 seconds pressing the Play button. But since a streamer says so it must be true.

  • @TheArbiter said:

Yeah this seems like more the exception than the rule. I feel like most players don't even actually know it is currently bugged and as such have no reason to equip it.

Because the Breakdown bug is only really useful with squads of 3 or 4, Solos trying to abuse it doesnt make much sense because you only get rid of 2 hooks and SWFs of 2 risk being facecamped as punishment and for them is harder to save than it is for squads of 3 or 4.

Its a bug that its only very concerning when encountered en mase or paired with less hooks offerings.

So it was a bad idea to buff WGLF? Since it encourages farming and taking unnecessary hits?

Thats a bit different because you still have the whole "safe unhook" thing but overall I believe WGLF is a poorly designed perk because if everyone runs it nobody gets the 4 stacks only with unhooks you still need the prot hits which are not easy to get in Solo, I would change how you get the stacks and make the perk give them with less abusable/detrimental actions.

Onto the question, yes, it was a bad idea to buff WGLF without addressing farming first but at least is less damaging than a potato with No Mither, also the Killer may deny the token if they tunnel the unhooked which I imagine acts as a soft deterant for noobs and bad plays (if you are not guaranteed the stack you may think it twice before hook bombing, I did see a decrease on hook bombing/farming after the Safe Unhook requirement got added).

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2151122#Comment_2151122

Except there is no reason to use it.

Solo's might use it to troll, but if they wanted to use it to throw the match, they can still do that now.

You should be rewarded for playing the game on hard mode.

You are being rewarded, bragging rights. On the other hand putting BPs on the table will damage Solo even more for the worst aspect of Solo is bad teammates, imagine bad teammates with No Mither because extra BPs, it would be used way more than its used now, especially the first months. There is a reason to use No Mither, you want hard mode because you are tough enough, thats the only reason anyone should have to play on hard modes.

The way the perk is now on the rare ocasions I get a teammate with it I know it will be a 3K minimum unless we are playing against an AFK or someone who just started playing one of the hard Killers (Nurse, Blight etc), I dont want an increase on No Mither ussage just because they get more BPs.

  • @Pulsar said:

I've always thought it should have 150% quieter grunts of pain and then give a 100% BP bonus post-game.

Nah, No Mither shouldnt give extra BPs or it could entice people who are not up to the task to run it because the grind is insane and extra BPs sound very tasty. Imagine playing Solo with No Mither giving extra BPs and potatoes going for full farm builds with it, the only thing thats worse than a noob with OoO is a noob with No Mither.

No Mither should be a hard mode so only people who are good enough dare use it.

  • I dont respect BBQ on Killers that dont benefit from it, they put BBQ because "OMG B3ST PERK, [STREAMER] SAID SO!!" without giving the perk much tought. I can accept "I really need the extra BPs" as an excuse but still Trapper/Myers/Hag/Jigsaw/etc with BBQ are laughable...

I dont have any problems with PGTW unless I see perks that conflict with it too.

  • When the Spirit is bad is enjoyable because Killer mindgames himself and does absurd things, its like watching one of those Benny Hill chases skits.

When is good there isnt much to enjoy, they see you, they hit you, they phase, you go down without much input.

  • @xEa said:

You actually name the reasons why people dislike Slinger:

"Doging his gun the best you can" - You cant. He is missing, you are not dodging. Leaving ALL in the hand of the killer.

"Throwing pallets early" - Extremly boring. The same reason why many people dislike Clown.

On top of that, he has a very small terror radius. This on a killer who can quick scope with a long range rifle in a game where the opposite site is not able to shoot back is annoying and not to mention totally out of place.

Add to that he is a beast at facecamping, one of the only 2 Killers that can stop a save from afar (PH is the other), even outside of his Terror Radius, Huntress and Trickster can hit you but cant stop you from saving if you are healthy.

Better chest drops? All my chests have been only giving me brown or yellow items even with an full item hunting build. Don't know what you are talking about.

You must be either extremely unlucky or the only person not affected by the bug, right now it looks like Survivors have inbuilt Plunderers, Ive been getting much better stuff than usual, same as other Survivors.

  • @Zixology said:

Or, better yet, have totem perks not active at the start of the game. Have killers go around and place them on dull totems. This would prevent them being gone immediately as well as add a more in-depth mechanic.

Bad idea, any Survivor sees you exiting a weird spot or a known Totem spawn point and you are going to lose the Hex faster than ever.

Had a game on midwhich as bubba, 2 people left and 4 gens left, they decided to hide for 30 mins, I used insidious to hear them run by me, I heard crows and found a Meg in the bathroom, proceeded to find the ace bbq don’t really work on small maps so I had to find ace, proceeded to use insidious again to bait him to the hook and killed both of them. Let just say I earned over 100k bp because of them dragging the game forever. I was basically was held hostage by stealthy players to scared to do gens

You were not held hostage by stealth players, you were held hostage by trolls, dont mistake stealth with trolling or inmersion.

Stealth players do objectives, unhook and heal, they are just harder to detect than loopers.

  • @xEzekanarioX said:

Playing stealthy only shows how bad and scared you are from the killer. Do you feel is fair escaping without having any contact with the killer?

If you want to play hide and seek go out with your imaginary friends.

I also camp that type of person if i find him.

If I fixed 2/3 gens, got several unhooks, heals and distracted the Killer by making him search tiles I do think is fair I escape.

  • @PigMainBigBrain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/245485/why-do-killer-only-user-hate-stealthy-playstyles

Not even gonna BS you....most killers dislike it or make a buncha bullshit excuses about it because its legit the best tactic in the game...period.

Lets not even sugar coat it....a full team of people who are stealthy are far more dangerous to your ability to kill survivors than some hot shot with neon on running around begging for attention. The guy in neon saves me so much time in finding survivors to kill them. The guy stealthing eats away at my time. And in the killer world, time is money. If you can't find people when you need to find them....its GG.....

Yeah pretty much, you get a team of 4 very good stealth players and the first 2 gens are going to pop without you even noticing it because you checked them second and third and after checking the 7º and going back to 1º they finished them both, the trick is they were there hidden waiting for you to come check them and after you left they started working as pairs on them. Now you have 4 healthy Survivors, no hooks, 3 gens left and every single pallet standing still... if they also happen to be decent at looping you are in for a very hard game.

Good stealth is very hard to counter and very effective if the whole team is good at it, especially on certain maps like Corn, McMillan, Crotus Penn and Yamaoka, thats why I think Discordance and Surveillance are the superior detection perks, they give information on gens, the only thing that needs pressure in this game.

  • @Zixology said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2140733#Comment_2140733

He's trapping people into a room with no escape that cannot be countered. Tell me how exactly that's allowed.

If Killer downs the Survivors inside the room the game will end eventually after all bleed out, its not banable. For something to be banable as holding the game hostage it requires to reach a point where one party cant end the game by itself, it would be banable if the Killer bodyblocked the window with everyone inside and then went afk for Survivors can only end the game by disconecting.

  • Its not against the rules for the game will eventually end when everyone bleeds out or stop falling for the trap and fixes gens or the Killer hooks everyone but I believe BHVR should get rid of those 2 rooms all together, they serve no purpose, no sane Killer breaks the walls unless they are farming and Survivors dont usually enter them because they can be a death sentece.

  • Steve, he has one of the cringiest most obnoxious screams in the game.

  • Insidious, it promotes one of the worst gamestyles in the game and is extremely useful against Solos which I play, while I never fall for it the people who get paired with me do and doom me with them (unless I get lucky hatch).

  • @bjorksnas said:

The problem that arises from stealthy playstyles is that you don't take any pressure off your team

if the killer is trying to split pressure and play nice but can't find the 4th survivor because they are hiding that means someone will be out of the game 2 hooks sooner than if they just found and chased the 4th survivor instead of just going after the 3 they can find evenly, this is also known as teammate induced tunneling since those 3 survivors are being pressured 33% more as if the game was already a 3 man

2nd part about stealth is if you unhook a survivor and instantly hide, ds isn't the cure all it used to be so that survivor you just haphazardly saved and ran away from is both injured which makes them easier to track and more likely doesn't have anything to defend themselves from the killer with meaning another easy hook for the killer and if they were on second stage the game has already become a 3v1 because someone is a negligent teammate

generally stealthy playstyles just promote the killers applying more pressure to the only survivors they can find and easily gets your teammates killed

Depends on the player, one Killer searching an area for 1 minute because the gen he kicked twice has been taped twice the very moment he went away can gain a lot of time.

Problem with stealth is a lot of people mistake stealth with inmersion, stealth is not letting the Killer see you while doing objectives, inmersion is the same but in a corner doing nothing.

  • Thats a foolish reasoning, increased key chance on chests has counterplay, just bring Franklins and camp the key until it goes away or burn cut coins, by your logic they shouldnt be fixing the chest bug.

A bug is a bug, no matter how much counterplay it has.

  • Moris are a gimmick you burn when you want some gory action and thats fine, not all offerings have to be game changing, they should be tools to spice up a match a bit and not something that skewers the odds for one side (yes, some offerings skewer the odds I know and those should be changed or eliminated).

  • Feng, Jeff, Jane, Hag, Doctor, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Plague and Oni. I dont own but I have all Ace, Adam, Quentin, Steve, Nancy, Ash and Yui perks unlocked on the Shrine.

I dont plan on unlocking more Survivors with shards since they are skins and I dont plan on unlocking Twins, Ill get Deathslinger or Trickster once their Archive gets out OR I save 18k shards (I unlock wathever Killer gets the archive, Plague being next I unlocked her few days ago).

  • If the gen is not very advanced and I dont have PGTW I may chase the Totem guy away, especially if I think I can get an easy hit, after that I will probably go after the one on the gen, with this I get a free hit and I also give the cleanser the idea I want to protect Totems so he may think I have NOED (I dont) and want to preserve them for it, enticing him to cleanse and wasting time on the process for nothing.

Yea this forum has a big problem with "X just wants to bully me therefore we can't make meaningful changes to this thing that i like because it means i might be 'bullied'" lmao.

SWF bully squads are the effective boogeyman in DBD, you name them and people go into critical mass, like they were the norm.

  • You dont, getting stressed over a game is like getting stressed while watching sports, it goes with each person character.

  • @NekoTorvic said:

My guess is the discussion about Trickster's appearance and design was way more prevalent than it seemed? So maybe they wanna make sure they do the right things design/appearance-wise with the game to appeal to their actual audience?

It seems strange that all those questions appeared right after the Trickster stuff.... Like...I love the fact that DBD has different designs, some more gruesome, some more gory, some more grotesque, some more monster-like...and some more edgy like Legion and Trickster... I dunno. design wise I just love the game.

I think the problem with Trickster is not how is designed because a lot of people (myself included) liked the way they designed him, no body horror, no mutations, no weeks old dirt etc BUT dislike (myself included) the theme, Kpop is very hit or miss either you love it or you think they are clowns. If Trickster was designed with the same concept and gameplay but instead of a Kpop star were he to be a deranged bussinesman (somewhat clean suit, good shoes, nice hairdo and treacherous smile) there wouldnt be such a fuss.

The body horror questions I think its because they are starting to notice they have been a bit overboard with it, outside of licensed characters we have way WAY too many deformed/wounded Killers and maybe they want to know if there is a market place for cleaner more humanlike Killers.

  • Yes and no, going full chest build can be powerful since if you get, lets say 3 purple medkits 1 key and 2 purple toolboxes they can help you inmensely.

But here is the catch, searching a chest is 10 seconds, if you burn coins and have 7 chests (for example) it amounts to 70 seconds doing nothing, you could have finished a gen with that amount of time and you may get 7 Keys (Keys are useless after the first one) or 4 flaslights which arent that good in Solo queue. The ineficiency is very noticeable if another Survivor goes for 5 Totem cleansing since its 3 people not doing gens for a lot of time (the item fisher, the totem cleanser and whoever got caught and is running the Killer).

  • Because as Survivor you can have chill games from time to time, one of those games where you have a god looper who manages to distract the Killer for 5 straight gens so you can sit there pressing M1 and relaxing, not all games are like this but maybe you can get 1 or 2 of these per day and if you encounter someone particulary toxic you can always suicide on hook and get out early.

Killer on the other hand unless you get 4 potatos you dont get to have chill games, if you get 1 or 2 Survivors good at the game you still have to deal with them and if you get trolls you dont have a fast way out like suiciding on hook, you have to endure them for the entire match.

  • No Burrowed Time, especially no BT when facecamping.

1 … 31 32 33 34 35 … 59
