I don't judge, but I know the playstyle enough to give them a hard time. At the end of the match if they kept making the same mistake, I offer a few tips on how to improve.
-
I think the devs gave an answer on this sometime, but I don't remember from where. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Basically, there's two reasons:
Dismemberment (at least as extreme as Hag, if not more like decapitation) can raise the game rating in certain countries, making it banned and/or unplayable there.
There's also the technical side- detachable items/body parts will require more complex rigging and skeletons for the animation, making it a pain to create. Minor things (Hag with the liver, Oni with a tongue, Clown with his fingers) are easy enough though.
-
Survivor: Spine Chill. On the few builds I have w/o it, I'm always paranoid about where an what the Killer is doing.
Killer: I need some kind of slowdown perk- first it was old Ruin, then PGTW, now I'm liking Corrupt Intervention- my Plague and Legion always have Thanataphobia.
-
@RedCloud said:
Does anyone main Hag after ruin nerf? I feel like I havent played against her a single time since.
Just cause Ruin is her teachable don't mean Hag mains are gone. Just swap it for another slowdown perk and she's still tricky.
-
Doctor: I can't get you out of my head.
Pig: You're the only choice I wanna make.
Plague: You give me butterflies in my stomach.
Oni: Chan
-
Claudette exculsively
Killers: Pig, Plague, and Doctor.
-
On Survivor- No Mither, Autodidact, Self-Care, and Solidarity.
Killer- Clown, run Shadowborn, Monstrous Shrine, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, and Mindbreaker.

I want outfits to be interchangeable between characters. Kate has some things that would look nice on Dwight.
I totally get what you mean- Clown needs Spirit's schoolgirl outfit.

I played 3 matches last night. One was vs a piggy. I was super excited about Booping the Snoot - but they ran Eboni Mori and it was over really fast. I was sad. I did boop the snoot after a Head On stun though. After the match I inquired as to why the EM and he said he never ran one on Pig before. I expressed my sadness at the short match and we both had a good laugh.
This has nothing to do with Doc, but it sort of fits in because I have not seen many Pigs lately. So, I ran Pig all night last night. Only had a few boop the snoot though. I let them all live. :)
Anyone who boops my snoot lives- only exception is people I know and hate or if I'm tryharding (rarely, usually for achievements or challenges).
I only bring Moris if I need to- Daily, Challenge, a survivor wants to be mori'd, etc.
-
He just got a great rework, AND he's a big focus in the current Rift. What'd you expect?
-
Pig Main here. Let me explain all of that (IMO anyway)
- Good, observant Pigs can predict how trapped survivors will approach boxes- you can't rely on RNG for trap kills, but you shouldn't tunnel either. The goal is to waste as much of the survivors' time as you can (not that you should be focusing on trap kills, but the longer they're trapped the less time they're doing something else).
- Again, RNG works both ways. Could be the survivor(s) get their traps off on the first box- those three addons (her best an most reliable) are to lessen the load you're facing that I described above.
- This... you're technically right, but whereas the Exit Gates have a small area between the rest of the map and the exit boundary, the Hatch is a way to instantly get out. It's weird (but Pig's power and addons arent the best compared to the rest of the Killers- mid-tier really).
- A LOT of her addons need to be looked at- the Iridescent addons should either be base (Rule Set No. 2) or reworked so its not extremely niche (Amanda's Letter), the trap status effect addons are really underwhelming (Rusty Blades, Slow Release Toxin, etc.), Amanda's Secret is a joke, and the addons that affect boxes and their skillchecks (Interlocking Razors, Razor Wires, etc.) aren't really good, since most people can hit skillchecks (unless you bring perks like Huntress' Lullaby or Unnerving Presence- but I don't think they work with Jigsaw boxes).
- The Entity chose Amanda for a reason- John did his games as a way to save people, give them redemption. Dr. Gordon was a true disciple of John as well, who carried out Jigsaw's wishes even beyond death. Amanda is different- she believes John wasn't strict enough, that no one is worthy of redemption. In her DBD bio, "The time for games was over. There was no chance of redemption for any of them. They were meat, and meat was destined to die." It's only because of the Entity holding her back that the Survivors can get away- otherwise all the boxes would be empty.

As a Pig main, I feel as though i must share my opinion on this matter.
I don't really think that Ruleset 2 needs to be base. It'd be nice though, but it'll force people onto generators, the exact opposite of what I want.
Make her crouch basically the same as Ghostface's. Currently I'm literally slower in every way. Move the roar until the attack for maximum jumpscare. Make Jigsaw boxes affected by Blindness, except for Face Mask.
Skill check affects applying to Jigsaw boxes would also be fantastic, as well as a reduction in terror radius.
Blindness would be ok, Oblivious would be better IMO.
Everything else I agree- in their stealth mode(s), all the other stealth killers are faster. There's no real advantage she has on them in/out of stealth that would compensate.
-
Not classic but Mr.Pickles from AdultSwim would be the most terrifying killer that ever existed in any horror game.
-
Some other ideas I've heard:
-The addons that apply status effects to trapped survivors should be changed so they last for a certain duration after removing the trap.
-Major reworks for useless or niche addons (Amanda's Letter, Amanda's Secret, Interlocking Razors, etc.)
-Reload traps,and/or add additional ways to trigger traps (A fake box activates an inactive trap, or a certain duration w/o removing the trap activates it).
-
That would be nice- her power is really lacking. That and a few other QoL changes (like her Ambush sound effects when crouching, uncrouching, and attacking being removed or timed differently) would go really far in helping her.
The biggest problem is the trap's RNG though- nothing is more disheartening than seeing a survivor get the trap off on the first box. Boxes should be more threatening (EX: fake box slightly decreases time remaining by 10-15 seconds, you should need more than one box to unlock a trap, or a fake box applies a status effect that hinders the survivor in someway).
-
Not counting the ones that are always brought up (Friday the 13th and IT), I want to see something from The Conjuring universe. Valak (from The Nun) or Annabelle would be super creepy :D
Side note, how cool would it be if they did a chapter based on something or someone IRL? It might be a touchy subject, but facing off against someone who actually existed (EX: Jack the Ripper) would be terrifying.
-
I hate playing Nurse- I can never figure out her blinks, she's the only killer that I would consistently derank with (my killers are usually red-purple rank depending, my Nurse would be below brown ranks.)
Playing against, the worst is a good Huntress. I've had Huntresses that can hit me from across the map at any moment (usually from the typical Huntress perks- BBQ, Bitter Murmur, etc.). Generally, probably Billy.
-
The cutest girl in DBD by far is Pig. Kate, Plague and Huntress are also cute by not nearly as much as Piggy.

I agree but I honestly enjoy playing Survivor more. Its less stressful and I feel like I'm better at it than Killer. I can't track at all as a Killer xD I lose track of scratch marks so quickly and cannot maintain chases.
I get that- I've had that happen to me all the time. It's a little weird, but even though I'm a Killer main and play Killer all the time, my Survivor rank is always higher (Red rank survivor, purple killer) XD

I'm not sure if you saw above because there is alot to read but I prefer not to player Killer because I'm not good at it. The harassment is just a plus of why I don't.
I get that- theres a lot of reasons why, but if you want to play nobody and nothing should stop you. Even if you're not good, just enjoy yourself- thats whats important :)

Lmao, honestly! Your comments just SCREAM killer bias! 💀
You're a very rational guy aren't you?
Stealth is still viable- yes there are killers and perks that make it easier to find you, but Survivors can make build to easily hide and escape. I can't tell you how many times Spine Chill saved me letting me know when to run, when to work and when to hide. Not to mention other good perks like Iron Will, or non-stealth perks that can still help like Dead Hard.
Immersed players like you're describing are usually low ranked because they depip from not doing anything. If you look at immersed Red or Purple rank survivors, they can be some of the hardest working on their team.
-
Watch videos of good experienced Survivors (to know what they do and how they do it) as well as Killers. You should also play Killers depending on your playstyle- don't immediately go for hits as Ghostface, for example. There's also skill involved in using their powers (start with killers that are easy to pick up, like Legion or Wraith, then when you start developing your game sense go for more difficult killers).
Some people to watch:
Monto, Noob3, Otzdarva, Puppers, Sattelizer, and/or TrueTalent
EDIT: I almost forgot but since you mentioned Huntress, if you want to improve watch Umbra- she's arguably the best Huntress in DBD
-
So you're not playing Killer because of one bad game? Its normal to get salty survivors- toxicity is in every game. What separates ######### like that guy from people like us is that we know its a game, and the purpose is to have fun. If you're being harassed to that extent, then you should ban them from your YouTube/blacklist them or something. Same goes for PSN.
You shouldn't let one bad game affect how you enjoy yourself, nor should you let people like him dictate how you play.
-
A serious buff: Make survivors search through Jigsaw boxes longer. Survivors now need 2 keys to unlock their RBT- this ensures they don't get as lucky almost immediately taking off their trap, and if they are that lucky then it at least doubles the time they have an RBT.
For fun though: Give Pig an Iridescent addon so when Survivors search an empty box, they lose additional time on their RBT (10-20% of base time, so for default they lose 15-30 seconds per empty box).
-
This is why Oni is so angry all the time- he’s fed up with these bad puns
-
@Peanits confirmed licensed, or Auric Cell, characters aren't getting Tomes in the Archives.

If the maps are disabled, then did you just waste offerings? Or do you get them refunded (you should, in any case)?

I play DBD on Playstation. Today I had the challenge "Kill 10 Survivors by any means necessary" and I've been working on it for about 20 minutes using Bubba. Anyway, my last match I had to secure 2 kills so I camped a David and then Mori'd a Nea I hooked earlier. The David felt a way and decided to send me messages clearly upset that I camped. It was all fair until he told me to [CENSORED] myself. I have censored screenshots here:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/683/IIOB1BP7T9HL.jpeg
I know there are people that take this game seriously and others like me who play just to play and have fun but telling someone to [CENSORED] themselves is over the top. Now after this big dissertation, I'd like to know if this is able to be reported someway somehow to BHVR? I already reported this to PSN and got word that its been dealt with already but will that effect his access to DBD?
Thanks in advance.
It sucks that you had to deal with that- personally I try not to camp or mori, but for the Rift thats as good a reason as any (especially if you're playing Bubba at high ranks). Hopefully you don't get anymore toxic people.
Side note: Your PSN uername is my Minecraft username. Mei is bae <3

Putting a trap on a survivors head as Pig, then they kill themselves on the hook/DC, or if they're on death hook and I didn't realize it until after.

So is he XD
No contest- Pig. She's smart, resourceful, and looks so pretty 🤩 (SAW movies)
-
Based on those five sounds like you enjoy a challenge, or at least surprising survivors. Maybe Wraith so you can have all the stealth killers under your belt? Hag is pretty sneaky too with M&A and certain addons.
-
Baby survivors should get a chance. Especially the cute ones who make adorable mistakes. But if they take advantage of my goodwill, they'll be treated like the experienced ones- death.
-
Huntress doing that Russian squat dance.
Oni doing the fisherman's dance (see Hanzo from Overwatch).
Doc doing the Electric Slide ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I need this hilarious BM XD

Dark Devotion does that and is that a plague perk?
Any perk that works with TR is affected by Dark Devotion's TR. Check Otzdarva's video for details.

You do not need to buy any DLCs to complete the Rift. Any characters needs to complete the challenges are available in the store via shards (Auric Cell only characters are not required), and any perks needed for challenges can be bought in the shrine for shards as well. In the event that a DLC perk is required, it will be guaranteed to appear in the shrine at some point during the Rift, typically during the week the challenge is added or the week immediately following.
The short version, in response to your concern about an Auric Cell only character being required, everything you need will be available for shards.
So what will be the situation if you decide to make a Rift with the 'Auric Cell' characters? I get that due to most (if not all) of them being licensed that their lore may be more difficult to tell, but does this mean they will never be in a Rift? If they will, how will the OP's issue be prevented?
-
Body blocking is a legit strat. For survivors, tanking a hit is super altruistic, helps the team overall, and some perks like WGLF and MoM will reward you for it. Killers do it too- a good Wraith or Legion will block pallets and windows when they're in a chase and revert to their 'normal' forms (opposed to invis or FF). There's even an infamous Hag build all about body blocking.

Oh my, you have let the power role go to your head. You need mice to chase. Who is giving you someone to chase and hook? Who is competing against you? Go play a Killer match without any Survivors and tell me how fun that is. Laughable.

Us killers leaving means you have no game ok other than a lobby simulator is all you will have. With no killers you will have no game and you will have no fun at all :P survivors leaving is no biggy but killers leaving is far,far more damaging to DBD.
You're both right ladies, no need to keep arguing. Sorrowen is right about Killer absences being worse than Survivors, but only because DBD is 4v1. Other than that, you're the same. Deal with it.

No killers make DBD work without them you have no game period besides a lobby simulator.

You are a loss cause if you don't realize you need both Survivors and Killers to have a match.
You need both- but a lack of Killers is much more damaging than a lack of Survivors. 50% of all Killers leaving would destroy the game, 50% of all Survivors leaving would be really bad but not as game breaking. The asymmetricality works against survivors.
-
If I feel confident enough to find the totem (like if I know where 3 totems were broken) then I'd find the totem then go for a save. If not then I'll run distraction as best I can while the others go for the save and/or totem, escaping as soon as I feel that I'm gonna get caught.
-
Plague- everytime I load into a lobby I get side boob. Can't beat that :D Pig is just as hot but for different reasons
-
Ehhh, depends on how good the Killer is and their build. Generally though, its Clown. He's not the strongest killer, and I rarely face him, but all the Clowns I face wreck me at pallets and loops. I have better chances of beating Spirit or Nurse than a Clown 😅
-
How are you handling chase music for the licensed killers? Myers and Demo already have their themes, but will Bubba, Pig, and Freddy get themes from their movies or completely new themes? I'm assuming GF will get a new theme :P
-
With the rank reset, this rank-based debuff can easily throw people off, not to mention that with matchmaking and SWFs you get people of all ranks in a game (one of my last games was 2,4,3,20,4), and this will mess with people, especially since you can't see ranks in the lobby and soon postgame. This also doesn't take into account smurfs, or other players who are more skilled than their ranks.
Theres also the fact that you only brought up Survivor examples- to be fair, Killers would have to get similar debuffs/buffs. This would make them stronger at low ranks and weaker at high ranks, since their success per rank is roughly the inverse of the Survivors.
-
It depends on the build, but generally I like it for tiny TRs (Spirit, Hag, kinda iffy on Huntress), stealth killer (especially if combo'ed with whispers, GF and Pig get lots of value out of this combo), and fast mobility killers.
-

The developers said they would rework: Herman, Billy, Bubba, Michael and Amanda. Herman changed, the question is, who is next? Probably our brothers with a chainsaw.
I hope not- Pig's RNG is ridiculous, I hope it gets some kind of buff so taking off a trap isn't base on luck.
-
Pig- Its tough cause she's a licensed killer, but I hope they make something cool for her. Hello Zepp is alright, but I'd really want something cool, new, and terrifying.
Also *maybe some Pig buffs* but chase music!

That all depend on what each offers.
Take the ptb hardly anyone plays it for a prolonged period of time as it doesn't give anything.
A casual mode which gave everyone everything would mean there is no incentive to play ranked at all as it removes the grind and they can be competative with more there so its not really an option.
If you had to grind then it has to have the same rewards so again what changes? It's still competative on how someone wishes to play.
So what is the incentive to play in it over ranked and or the incentive to play ranked over casual if someone plays competitively in both?
What does a casual mode entail that is different from what the normal game?
What aspects of it will mean that the players will play differently than in ranked itself?
There are so many variables apart from everyone just being matched together. The mindset of what one considers a win would carry over be it kills, escapes, bloodpoints etc. Since we know the game is a grind whichever one yields the most results is what one will play so matchmaking becomes on that than the other and then it just turns into the new competative mode.
I'm going to use Overwatch as a basis, because its one of the competitive games I know best. I know the two are very different, but lets look at it this way:
Their PTR/PTB is used exactly the same way as DBD's- people barely play on it, and only for a new character or balance changes. The way they separate Quick Play (Casual) vs Competitive is based on a couple things- competitive has a stricter matchmaker (please god, one day) and you get extra rewards for playing competitive, based on wins and final ranking of the season.
If DBD introduced a Casual gamemode then of course some changes would be made to separate it from the ranked experience- maybe Competitive will award people some extra Shards if they place high enough or a small amount of Shards if they get 1 or 2 pips. Something along that line, maybe even something exclusive that can only be achieved via playing/winning in Comp.
The 'grind' is a Comp players mindset- grind to rank one, grind BP, something like that. While there will be some grinding in every players game due to the BP and Bloodweb systems, there are people who play for fun, people who arent looking for the best build or the best game- they just want to enjoy themselves.
-
@CrispyChestnuts said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/116977/why-doesnt-dbd-have-a-casual-playmode
Ah so all the competitive players could queue for casual to try to stomp some n00bs, whole all the casuals play ranked to try to play near their skill?
@twistedmonkey said:
The game is about a grind. That's by design so players always have something to work towards.
If another mode came and it offered more for the grind the players would all move over so nothing would change.
If there is less of an incentive then who would move over to play it?
Also what's to stop competative players playing the casual mode thus making it competative?
The point is theres two kinds of players- people who are competitive by nature, and people who play for the sake of playing and having fun. When you get these people in the same game, chances are one or both are going to get upset, even rage against each other. Having separate gamemodes for each would lessen this problem and people would enjoy the game more.
Thats not to say the gamemodes are exclusive- maybe the comp guy wants to blow off some steam, or the fun guy wants to see how good he really is. But in general they play for different reasons, so they should have gamemodes which suit their playstyle.
-
Its very situational- but know that regardless of your reasoning, even if its 100% valid, youll probably get flamed for it. Even if they rush the hook and keep dying to it.
