  • Doctor and Freddy. Run Pallet addons and a pallet destroying build- theyll never have a safe pallet again >:D

His primary skill is his ranged attack.

All his trenches/Torment debuff are doing is saving him a little time hooking, that's it. There's no debuff on the survivors.

Well the cages prevent the hooking perks- with meta perks like DS or BT, I think thats pretty good. Assuming its not too hard to make Survivors tormented, thats not too bad. Saying his alt attack is his main power is like Pig's Dash or Demo's Shred is the main part (difference is PH's power is much stronger than RNG helmets or portals).

  • @Momentosis said:

The passive effect is that there's ######### on ur screen(also killer instinct when you step on the trenches).

Instinct is ok, but the UI isnt even that bad (as far as blocking the screen- I wish it looked better graphics wise).

Well I see Legions case as different because that's his main ability, where as PH the Torment is more of a secondary supportive ability to me.

I don't know nearly enough about PH to discuss this accurately, but how do you figure that? His trenches and ability to send people to cages seems like his most powerful asset, kind of like how Doc's Madness helps with the illusions. The extra parts (Killer Instinct on trenches, special attack) seem like the secondary parts.

  • When I see an Object, I will lose horribly UNLESS I ignore the Object until they're the last survivor. I know this sounds counter intuitive and insane, but its worked every- single- time.

  • Luck plays a small part about it- I say that cause I got an Oni on Lery's. But I got it by following him and ruining his progress- tapping gens he kicked, saving survivors with a flashlight or pallet, unhooking survivors, and occasionally distracting him (Diversion+Red Herring is ANNOYING lol). Can you play optimally and still get this achievement? Probably, but its easier to do what I did.

  • STBFL, PGTW, Surveillance, and Surge. Addons can be Video Tape and Combat Straps/Last Will- those three give guaranteed immediate value, whereas some of the Purple and Iridescent addons vary depending on how quickly they can get their trap off (RNG yay).

  • Ultimately depends on what you consider a fun playstyle. If you like FPS games, Deathslinger is good. If you like stealth, Pig and Ghostface are good.

If youre just looking for perks, I'd suggest Pig- Surveillance has good synergy with Surge and Ruin, as well as any perks that involve kicking generators. MYC is also really good if you learn how to use it. Hangman's Trick is niche and anti-sabo, so it's not as good as the last two. As far as the others... Plague has Corrupt Intervention (really good to slow gen rush at the start), Infectious Fright (good for snowballs), and Dark Devotion (tricky, but also good with certain perks). The other three Killers have good perks, but the two I mentioned will give you the most 'good' perks.

    Other perks:

Legion: Discordance is great against gen rushing, Iron Maiden and Mad Grit are very niche.

Ghostface: I'm All Ears is pretty good in jungle gyms, Furtive Chase is meh and Thrilling Tremors helps protect gens temporarily.

Deathslinger: Hex: Retribution is great with Totem builds, Gearhead needs synergy perks like PGTW, and Dead Man's Switch isn't very good w/o Nemesis or Furtive Chase (maximize Obsession hooks).

  • Spine Chill and Kindred helped me a lot- I used Dead Hard and BT too, but you can change those to be more immersed. I also got lucky with the matchup- an Oni on Lery's. I just stayed immersed, followed him around, got a lot of stuns and saves, and eventually got it.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    I am confused.

Adrenaline activated when all the generators are finished not when the Exit Gates open.

If the hatch is closed and you have adrenaline, and you happen to be the obsession, I’m pretty sure rancor still activates?

No, the perk doesn't activate when the gates are open, but when they are powered (when a Survivor can start to open them).

  • I always kinda thought Trapper was loosely based on My Bloody Valentine- somewhat similar backstories and look (especially the Macmillian Miner outfit). Nevertheless cool idea!

EDIT: Would the Bloody Gift perk affect multiple chests? I assume the skill check(s) involved would be similar in difficulty to Overcharge or DS skill checks.

  • Any updates on reworks and/or improvements for Killers who may need to be looked at? EX: Leatherface, Legion, Pig, Clown...

So red rank killer here tired of stressful games really, time to derank. So only played Nurse like three times before today because she is so hard to play. So today I started playing Nurse! I really want to learn to play her because I'm good with all other killers.

So played 5-6 games today on Xbox and have still not gotten a single kill 😁 Really wish I could just play against low rank survivors to get the games fun for everyone. The survivors I go up against now soon discover how bad I am and literally make fun of me teabagging and running around me. Yes not fun it's embarrasing really. And can't be fun for good survivors playing against a killer that play like a rank 20 killer either 🙄

Is there some other way than just playing games to get better? Any youtuber or something that is helpful? Any tips from you guys?

Your first problem was learning to play one of the toughest Killers in one of the most skilled ranks. You can keep learning her, but if you really want to grow start small and build up from there. Play Nurse after rank reset, so you dont go up against the most skilled players.

I am a Huntress main and I want to buy a new killer I was thinking about Oni,Spirit and Deathslinger what is your recommendation?

Ps: Dont limit yourself with this three

Of the three you mentioned? Probably Deathslinger. His playstyle is the most similar to Huntress', and his perks could be more useful on her than Spirit's or Oni's. In terms of whose the most fun, its subjective but I prefer Spirit.

Of all the Killers besides Huntress? If you don't have the perks, get Bubba for BBQ- a staple for Huntresses, and great for farming BP. Funwise, I love Pig and Doc.

I don't think so. Disciple is the best add-on he can use. A .7 second shock is insane. I don't know how it made it through QA testing. Everything else doc can use is a nuisance. It stops almost every loop in it's tracks assuming good map knowledge.

We can go back and forth like this, but fact is there's more than one good build on Doc, and different addons work with different builds.

And back to your game- toxic SWF, it happens unfortunately, but you have to make the best of it.

  • @Huff said:

I saw somebody post a similar thing but they said they were addicted to Bond and Kindred. I'll tell you essentially what I told them: if it meshes well with your playstyle and it feels good for you to play with, I don't know why you would want to be switching it out anyway.

The thing is I want to get better at the game without relying on perks like a crutch. Trying out different builds, variability, and variety- like if for whatever reason I can't use SC, I dont want to go from red ranks survivor to green ranked. Especially not with other red ranked killers (again, rank dont matter, but its a general skill difference).

That is funny, if you watch Otz's "killer add-on tier list" he states that "a good doctor will never let you do anything with the purple disciple add-on". And I agree. It is super oppressive to use and many people just suicide on hook when I am using it.

Otz would also say the other addons are good if not better. The King is just as strong as Purple Discipline, and the Queen is better than Green and Yellow Discipline. He also says that his tier lists are general standings, and that depending on the build some addons are better than others.

  • @Shocktober said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1209179#Comment_1209179

Disciple is clearly the most overpowered add-on the doc can muster. You never want to lower your terror radius. Keeping it at 32m so it is in sync with whispers is the best option doc has. You walk around the map, whispers lights up, you static blast and auto-find survivors in the first 20 seconds of the game. It is actually broken. Then you rock disciple so they can't even throw a pallet as well. Busted killer in the hands of skilled player.

Not the most OP addon- just the one that suits your playstyle the best. Doc has a ton of versatility when it comes to builds- Slow Heals, Impossible Skillchecks, the Chaser and Ambusher builds mentioned above, Gen Protection- he's got it all. Thats just your favorite build.

  • @Shocktober said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1209172#Comment_1209172

Calm is terrible on doc. It only messes with unaware survivors. Disciple is the best doc add-on by a mile. Turing the shock from a 1 second detonation to a .7 second detonation is actually broken.

I've used that build (Purple and Green Discipline with Brutal Strength, BBQ, Whispers, and Pop), and its pretty good for ending loops quickly, but theres other builds on Doc, some that are better. Pulsar's is better for using Static Blast than Shock Therapy, more about location and ambushing (which is better for some people's playstyle) than outright chasing.

  • @Shocktober said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1209166#Comment_1209166

Sad you are recommending such a bad build. Obviously whispers is S tier on doc. 32m terror radius, 32m insta-find survivors radius? Why would you ever run monitor on him?

Out of chase, you have a 24m TR, allows you to sneak up on people. In chase, you have a 40m TR. With Calm addons, the TR is even bigger/smaller when Static Blast is ready/on cooldown. Ergo, you can hit a ton of people with Static Blast then have a tiny one to sneak up on people.

Those add-ons are never used anyway. It would just mean we would be able to play what we want and when we want it. I absolutely hate the blood web because it forces me to buy stuff I don't want like mori's and keys.

Thats the point. As a game dev, you never design a character, perk, or addon with the intention of it never being used. Some items are better than others (by their ranking system), but balancing screws these items. Rules Set No. 2 is an Iridescent addon, but no one will say its as good on Pig as Black Incense, Coxcombed Clapper, or Iridescent King is on their respective Killers. Picking and choosing will essentially vastly increase the amount of 'good' addons used while neglecting the 'bad' ones. The RNG aspect of the Bloodweb, while tedious at times, forces players to get creative with the addons they have, adding more diversity into the game.

Should these bad addons be adjusted or reworked? Absolutely. But theres no way to know how unless the devs get data on how they're already being used, as well as making builds slightly more random.

  • If we could pick and choose that would mean less Bloodweb usage, as well as a sharp increase in some addons and decrease in others. EX: Pigs buying tons of Last Wills, Combat Straps, Crate of Gears, Tampered Timers, etc; Never using Interlocking Razors, Rule Set No. 2, Amanda's Secret, etc.

  • Survivors just avoid the scarecrows then if the killer cant go where theres no scarecrows. GGEZ RIP Killer

  • I highly doubt they had that in mind- not to sound mean but you see what you want to see, like a Rorschach painting.

Side note: Anyone have a link to see all the challenges? Can't access the PTB.

  • Devotion shows how 'devoted' you are to the game :D

Srsly though, its like a prestige number. Nothing other than showing how much time you've put into the game.

I had a great time as killer.

This was in Hawkins, that God-Awful map.

    You did that on Hawkins?

You must be an insanely good nurse way below your rank or all the Survivors are boosted af. Or both. Nice going!

  • I like games where at least both sides get some progress (Killer gets a kill or two, Survivors get 2-3 gens minimum). This is generally why I would say GG, but personally I'm not satisfied unless I pip.

I would like to see Clown have more than one Tonic. In the lore it always talks about Clown experimenting, and making more than one tonic. The Afterpiece Tonic was just his favorite, so he could have a secondary Tonic that he also likes but not as much as The Afterpiece Tonic.

This sounds like what Freddy can do with Snares and Pallets. Some of Clown's less useful or bad addons can be replaced to offer alternate Tonics with different effects, and the cloud's color can change depending on what Tonic it is (similar to Plague's Vile vs Corrupt Purges).

  • To answer your questions:

All game communities are toxic to an extent, but compared to OW or CS:GO this community is pretty tame.

Balance is more or less ok, only one or two major things are arguably needing to be fixed, otherwise its character/perk specific.

Rank really doesn't matter, since theres no reward (like in OW you'd get more comp points). Higher ranks means better players (obviously), but you'll see that the higher ranking you are, the more survivor-controlled the games tend to go. If you want to play Survivor, you'll have the most fun/success there. If you want to play Killer, youll need to get really good to keep up with coordinated solos, or worse, SWFs.

There is a bit of grinding involved, as you spend Bloodpoints and the perks/addons you get in Bloodwebs are RNG (not to mention Teachable Perks), but overall if you're looking for fun you shouldn't have to grind too much. Theres extra BP too till April 15th, so take advantage of that, and the Tome Challenges will nab you more BP if you can do them. For beginners, completing the tutorials also gives a small amount of BP.

Hatches spawn in pre-set locations on the maps at the start of the match (same with generators), but you can only see and interact with them once all the gens are done OR a certain number of gens are done when one or more Survivors are dead. Its meant as an alternate means of escape, so don't really rely on it at the start.

For general tips, I'll give you this:

    1. Both Survivors and Killers should learn to mindgame- predict how the other guy will move and trick him. This could include line of sight, faking certain perks like Decisive Strike, etc. This comes with time and experience, but I highly recommend watching videos to see how experienced players do mindgames.
    2. Survivors work best as a team- learn the different roles of what to do (Gen Jockey, Medic, Chasing, etc.) so you can fill for what your teammates need.
    3. Killers all have wildly different powers, which affect how their playstyles are. You wouldn't play Spirit with a Hag mindset, nor a Pig with an Oni mentality. Try all the Killers out a few times, or at least the ones you're interested in, and once you find one you like learn the techinques and tricks you can pull off with their power.
  • That's incredibly OP. Firstly, blocking totems for over 5 minutes? I'm a Killer main and even I think thats unbelievably unfair. Imagine using Devour Hope or Huntress Lullaby with this. Secondly, if you think it should block itself for the duration thats even worse. Hex Perks are all about gambles, and giving the Killer a ton of power at the risk of permanent removal from the Trial. If it uses its power with no way for the survivors to break it theres no way it'll be balanced.

I would remove the timed portion and the ability to block itself, maybe with some increased drawback like (Hex: Intervention can be broken twice as fast as a regular totem, or all Survivors can see the aura of Hex: Intervention), that way they have a chance of playing around it while the totem does its job.

  • Firstly, mods dont like ppl taliking about leaked info, so OP might get a slap on the wrist, and this thread taken down.

Secondly, I WAS going to grind Tapp and get his perks, but I guess now I'll be doing Dwight now. And buying all Kate's perks in the Shrine. Good thing I got all the Killers leveled up.

  • Huntress isn't bad, as far as Killers go I think she has the largest skill floor-to-ceiling ratio. If you want a good killer for new players, you could try Doctor (he's listed as hard, but its easy to find people w/Shock Blast, and two of his perks, Overcharge and Monitor, are pretty good), or Plague (also has good perks like Infectious Fright and Corrupt Intervention, her vomit will play to your Huntress experience, and of course the sideboob).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/137895/killers-not-hooking-at-low-ranks

Please do not report players that slug - which is what you are saying you are doing, it's irrelevant how long a killer chooses to slug a survivor, it's not reportable as they are not holding the game hostage and the eventually the survivor will bleed out and/or the EGC will kill the survivor (depending on the point in the match). Please do not waste the time of the people who have to deal with these reports.

Respectfully, I call bull. You have an ingame option to report players who are trolling- which is what this killer(s) were doing. IDC if a killer slugs, that a viable tactic- I'm not reporting for that, and neither should anyone.

What I will report is when the killer downs everyone and never hooks a survivor. Even if we all bleed out and give the killer their victory, if they proceed to taunt and show that they're doing it on purpose- that they're not some noob that doesn't know the game- then I'm reporting that. If you're saying I'm 'wasting the time of people who have to deal with these reports', maybe reevaluate what your rules say is and isn't allowed.

I love hearing crying survivors. The killer isn't letting me win with my SWF team,

Bro screw that. I'm not bitching bc the killer won- i wasnt even SWFing. I'm pissed because the killer downed everyone, did not hook anyone, and let us all bleed out.

If we all died then thats on us. If he outplayed us good for him. But when the killer proceeds to BM and make us slowly bleed out for 3-4 minutes while he trolls us- im reporting him.

Lol, I seen one killer tunnel the Obsession to death. They were running Dying Light.

But uhhh slugging is a legit tactic guys. Which killer was it? If it was Billy they're an #########.

5 or 6 different players, but I remember a Clown, Spirit, Plague, and a Doc. And I'm not saying slugging isnt a viable tactic, but slugging the entire team and leaving them to die is a douchebag move.

  • @Desh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/137895/killers-not-hooking-at-low-ranks

You reported them because they slugged the entire team? Did they cheat or something?

No, they downed every survivor fairly but never hooked anyone- the killers left all the survivors slugged until they bled out. IDK if this is holding the game hostage (since the survivors eventually all bled out and died) but no one likes to be slugged, especially over and over until everyone's died from it and the killer never hooked anyone in the first place.

Why is the pig so weak? The killers that are paid like Mayers can throw you in one hit, gosthface too, leatherface can also throw you in one hit and Freddy (in addition to having the arm of the elastic man of the fantastic 4) is a very strong killer. Again I ask: why is the pig so bad if it is also a killer that cannot be obtained for free? are plans to improve it? Is there any enmity between the developers and the owners of the rights of the film? I feel a bit cheated when paying for such a useless killer, the traps are not difficult to remove, they are only activated when an engine is completed... she has so much against it that I am really thinking of asking for a refund for her 🤨

Firstly, go back to ENG 101, fix your grammar vomit. Secondly, Pig is kinda average between all the killers. License has nothing to do with how good or bad Killers are (Leatherface is kind of a joke at red ranks, while Hillbilly and Spirit are some of the top tier Killers). The thing with Pig is her RBTs are too RNG- either they're weak because a Survivor got a trap off near immediately, or 'OP' because they couldn't get find the right box before it popped.

  • That's not as good of an Iri addon then. It should be unique from the rest of the addons, but if there's a drawback there should be a way to lessen the effects (EX: Iri Hatchets with Infantry Belt, a Myers Iri with increased stalking addons, Red Moss with decreased cooldown addons, etc.). There should either be addons that increase the range (at the expense of something like increased TR or increased reload), or there should be more leniency than a 1/6th of his total chain length.

Wow so the new survivor perks are complete useless trash while the killer perks are completely OP. ######### is going on with this game?

The Stranger Things Chapter want to know your location...

  • @Peanits or another mod will have to confirm, but probably. OoO is Laurie's perk, and she also has Sole Survivor- the latter hides her aura at certain distances when other survivors are dead. If those two are supposed to work together, then OTR should too.

  • Gearhead: It's alright, depending on how quickly you can get hits can be really good.

Dead Man's Switch: Basically if Ghostface combined Thrilling Tremors and Furtive Chase. Throw Nemesis on with it and it'll be a good location+slow down.

Hex: Retribution: Hell. Yes. Totems just got a lot more lethal 😈 not good on its own but in a totem build it'll be amazing. Haunted Ground and TOTH will be an insane build- throw on Devour Hope for motivation.

Red Herring: Could be nice, especially on coordinated teams. It's like a long distance Diversion.

    Off The Record: Better Babysitter.

For The People: SWFs are a lot more annoying now.

  • One of my favorites now- Oni and Hag are better IMO but this is definitely Top 5 😍

  • Simple- in the notes you can't use the gun to down them. Best case scenario, you hook an injured survivor, reel them in, then down them. Or if you have the Iri addon, healthy survivors can be one shot. Escaping the chain only results in being injured and Deep Wound.

Plague is a small killer? That girl is an amazon. She’s taller than Huntress.

...I have no idea why I wrote Plague. I was thinking Pig 🤣

  • Aside from being the Kool-Aid man?

They'll probably be very similar. At best, the small killers (Legion, Plague, Hag, etc.) will have different animations from the big ones (Trapper, Huntress, Oni), like the vault animation.

Small killers could ram into it full force and breakthrough, Big killers could smash it with a leg or a few punches. Some might have unique animations based on who they are (Nurse and Huntress getting their animations OP mentioned would make sense).
