  • She wants a hookup, she should just ask the Killer :p how lewd

  • @FloofyHaru said:

So uh, all you 'Cheryl mains' out there that are only playing her to unlock soul guard, is it just me or does every killer hate her? I thought we were only ruining the games of people who bought Lisa? Is it just me getting tunneled by every single killer, even though I'm not playing like your typical TTV clicky clicky guy? Does the community have a grudge against silent hill fans? Ignore me though. I haven't had a normal game all day and wanted to rant lmao.

Besides people using Lisa, I haven't seen any special treatment of Cheryls in my games the past few days. Maybe its you they're going after?

  • I'm a Claudette main- im the last person who wants someone to get tunneled for playing a certain character. I hate the fact that Lisa is overpriced, but am I gonna take it out on people who bought her? No, thats too much on top of the hole in their wallets.

  • Have you tried Infinite T3 focused on the Obsession? Infectious Fright, Dark Devotion, Nemesis, and PWYF with J Myers Memorial and Judith's Journal. With those two addons, you stalk roughly 60% faster than normal, but only on the Obsession. Since you got Nemesis, that's a really fast Tier 3! Potential to snowball multiple times.

  • Depends on three things- your perks, your rank, and what Killer it is. If youre a Rank 1 Bubba with perks like Insidious, you're bad and screwed. If youre in yellow ranks playing Doctor with perks like BBQ, you've already won.

  • Not sure if its ok to talk about since Anniversary starts on Tuesday and this is on the live servers, but 'leaks' tend to get taken down. Just an FYI

Yes, you are right - PH players (calling them good is laughable) have found the best way to work hooks and cages. They hook. Then they tunnel. Then the cage. Then they tunnel. Then they mori. Its very quick. Its very dirty. Its very broken. Its no fun. There's nothing you can do about it because the only perks in the game designed to provide SOME alleviation from this abusive play style are voided by this particular killer. I like to think the BHVR team is relatively smart. So my statement stands. They purposely designed a Killer adept at tunneling because they desired to. Clearly. Otherwise it wouldn't exist. If they wanted to change the meta, they would make adjustments so that the necessity of running DS/BT wasn't an every match occurrence. Instead, they built a Killer that negates the perks they designed specifically to address this hated play style. On purpose. As I said.

You're probably right, but he's one in twenty Killers and fairly new. I doubt people are going to change their loadout of DS and BT unless he becomes oppressive (like when people ran Iron Will all the time against Spirit pre-addon nerfs). He's popular now cause he just got released, but when people get used to his playstyle they won't necessarily take off their crutch 2nd chance perks if he doesn't shoot to the top of the meta killers.

I don't think this is the problem, the navigation being too inconvenient is the biggest problem. You can be in spots where you can't cut off a survivor and to get into chase takes literally like 45secs. You can be in spots where you need to get to the courtyard, to a spot 5 metres of total distance from where you're standing, and it takes like 20-30 seconds. Changing floors should be doable in max 10 seconds at virtually any part of the map, instead it's like half a minute.

I do think there needs to be more ways to access the courtyard from the 2nd floor, but in terms of gen/totem/chest placements I think they're alright. Maybe have better indicators for the access point between floors, but thats about it. What I really like about it that differs from the other indoor maps is the fact that its tough to orient from a room- making a map confusing makes it more fun and dangerous IMO. Maybe its just from experiencing the other maps so often, but I like not knowing exactly where I am w/o seeing a landmark area to tell me where I am.

  • People just need to learn their way around the map. Its not hard to learn the layout, just rough to orient yourself from one room. If you're still learning the map, I recommend perks like Windows Of Opportunity and Detective's Hunch/Deja Vu- normally these perks arent that helpful, but they work wonders on new maps. Killers, you've got Zanshin Tactics in place of Windows, and use totem perks to learn totem placements.

I love the concept of killing x amount of y survivor in order to obtain their masks as Bubba. It’d be cool if we could get this for every survivor eventually. What do you guys think?

Good idea, but due to franchising I doubt the licensed Survivors will have their faces ripped off. I'm sure Bubba's franchise would love it, but the others? No way.

  • It's not the 'character' per se- its the people who just have the Lisa skin. It costs more than the DLC itself- almost enough Auric Cells to buy 3 characters. Personally if people want to pay that much for a cosmetic (since its just that- a new look and pose, nothing else) that's up to them, idc when I see them ingame. But you're gonna have your trolls that want to lash out at BHVR for letting this happen, so they go for the 'poor' Lisas.

  • Claudette. And before you all start yelling and calling me useless or a blendette, I picked her up for two reasons:

    1) When I first got into the game I wanted healing perks, and Claudette was the free Survivor that had healing perks.

    2) I dont often run blendette builds- maybe once in three or four hundred games? I use her 'advantage' to hide more efficently, but am I circling the outside of the map being dead weight to my team? Ofc not- I'm stealthy, not immersed.

  • It should- thats what the perk's for.

  • @Demonl3y said:

My problem is that i keymapped my skillchecks to the X bottom. Now everytime a skill check comes, i also block the gen. .-.

There was a similar bug for people doing healing skillchecks with For The People, I wouldn't be surprised if a similar fix is put in for this.

Mkay so surge still works, is that it? Im legit asking i dont have surge so i cant try it 🤣

It was only a few games, I tested the Nemesis+Dead Man's Switch synergy with Surge+Surveillance for a super slow gen progression build. Everytime Surge hit a gen blocked by DMS, the 8% instant regression happened while blocked, then the normal regression happened when the gen unblocked. Again, Surge isn't as strong as PGTW or Ruin, but it takes the idea of both and makes it easier to activate and have throughout the game.

  • @SquirrelKnight said:

Im conflicted. Glad its not a second chance perk, but really really annoyed that it blocks meta killer perks directly, blocking gens which

    A. Is cool cause survivors cant work on it for 30 seconds either, however.

    B. Also blocks generator interraction perks from working for nearly the full duration for the killer

Something I noticed while playing with Dead Man's Switch- instead of PGTW, run perks to automatically regress generators. I know they dont regress when blocked, but they'll start regressing as soon as they get unblocked. Ruin is nice, but it doesn't help against a good SWF that can find it. I used Surge instead, a middle ground between PGTW and Ruin, and voila! Gen's regressing and lost a small chunk of progress, even when blocked.

  • Pyramid Head and Cheryl are licensed characters- not DBD originals. They cant be bought with shards. Same goes for Pig/Tapp, Freddy/Quentin, Myers/Laurie, Demogorgon/Nancy/Steve, Bubba, Ash, and Ghostface.

  • @LordRegal said:

The fact it's half the time this time around makes it better automatically. Send in a map offering to The Game and you should get it just inherently if you're working a gen while someone's running the killer above/below you.

It's only 30s now? I thought it was still 60s like in Level 3- that makes it much easier! :D

  • Its too early to tell, but I can see RA becoming a very popular perk- if only the meta wasn't hardlocked with second chance perks, RA could easily become meta. There's a chance it might still be, since PGTW is so popular after Ruin was reworked.

  • Talk to anyone who plays online games, 5-10 seconds can be a crucial amount of time.

Besides, its not just time you're saving. It's the picking up, losing a hook, risking flashlights and pallet stuns, etc.

  • If im gonna constantly get ######### by PH players for the next week the least you could do was let him stay a double wide surprise. Goddamn...

I’d edit your post if I were you.

I know from personal experience that any posts insinuating that you encourage a DC are a breach of forum rules.

Thanks for the heads up :p

  • Easy, I don't play.

They don't happen very often, so I'm fine with a depip if it mean not getting humiliated by a game mechanic the devs refuse to balance around.

  • Its my gamertag since 2017. Before then I was super casual and mostly played singleplayer games. But November of 2017 I got into Overwatch and got hooked on PvP- at least for Overwatch. Took a month or two to settle on a game tag, I came up with it cause A) I liked Support the best, and B) I memed and played jokingly a lot at the beginning. Overtime its who I am now, and it fits even in DBD (I play a lot of Doctor and Plague, among others).

Could be a new Paragraph- and maybe we could get another Survivor as a Paragraph.

The writing itself no it was bad didn't really over write on ana's story.

As I said in a previous comment that section where it got revealed was more to highlight just how obsessive and single-minded soldier can be when he's set on something in this case it was his work in overwatch to the point where he realised he couldn't give his significant other a meaningful relationship.

It's being another man was completely inconsequential to the actual section it could have been Vanessa or Vincent and it wouldn't have actually changed the point of it .

However what ended up happening was a bunch of news sites made articles and then the community flipped their lid.

Complaining about how they made such a big deal of in and it shouldn't have been that relevant when the only people making a big deal out of it was the news articles ( who were doing it for clicks and views not because they actually cared) and the community itself

OW lore has always been written badly- their old lead writer retconned lore more often than a Bethesda game getting new bugs.

About this specifically? I understood the intent behind it, but it was still badly written. It shouldn't be a big deal, but (as you said) people made it a big deal, and Ana's story was put on the back burner. Chu (the writer) should have seen that coming, but like the rest of the lore it was done badly.

Not that this is an Overwatch forum, but what would have been materially different about Soldier 76's design or character portrayal if this had been specified from the start?

Nothing really- I don't think people here are discussing whether or not its important, just the controversy surrounding it. Again, the problem was dropping that information in the middle of another character's story- it completely overshadowed Ana, who had an entire mini-event centered around her at the time.

  • I wouldn't mind an LGBT+ character, but not to the point where its their defining feature. They're a whole new character and person, not a stand for LGBT+ rights.

Also Soldier's 'coming out' was very controversial. It was just thrown into the community's face like that- I'm not saying there should be hints or anything like that to say whether or not a character is/isn't LGBT, but the manner in which it was done was sloppy and overrode Ana's story, the point/focus at the time. The lead writer was godawful...

  • Spine Chill lets you know if the Killer's looking at you while 36m or closer, while also giving you a slight buff to most actions and 10% more skillchecks. Premonition lets you know what direction a Killer is in within 36m, and is on a cooldown.

I prefer Spine Chill cause it's more useful and is used more often, but Premonition can help on occasion. Its like if Small Game and Spine Chill had a baby, but the baby got almost none of the good attributes from either parent.

  • "You don’t know what I am. And you don’t know what I can do! I’m Doctor Who in this motherf*! I could be a clone. I could be a hologram! We could be clones controlled by robots controlled with special headsets that the real Rick and Morty are wearing while they’re f* your mom!"

Lol just kidding, dont get salty dude. relax and move on.

  • Yui and Zarina for Survivors, Plague and Hag for Killers. Those four have such interesting stories, I'd love to hear more about them.

  • Starting out I've used it to help a lot :D I got all of Laurie's and Feng's perks through it, so I dont have to buy them (I might buy Feng later if only cause she'll eventually be in a Rift, but licensed survivors will never get that). I'm going for the same with Quentin. I also got Ruin and PGTW back when I was starting out, and they helped A LOT when I was first learning Killer. I got all the Killers now, but unlike survivors Killers are unique w/o their teachables.

Would I use the Shrine in the future though? Only for Quentin's perks, then probably not- unless they make another licensed Survivor with three terrible/niche perks.

  • @Carlosylu said:

Now, this thread is not about how many times you get to use the perk, but about how useful it is when you actually use it, regardless of if you use it only once every ten games, or maybe every game. Which perk do you consider to be the best perk to save you and your team, or get you the 3k - 4k?

As survivor: Unbreakable? BT? Self Care? Mettle of Man?

As killer: Devour Hope? Hounted Grounds? Rancor? Blood Warden?

Edit: Pick any perk from the game and explain, not only the ones I mentioned

Whispers and Spine Chill. They're great for beginners, and even experienced pros can use them effectively. SC is a great counter against stealth killers and can hinder ranged killers. Whispers is the one killer perk survivors cannot hide from no matter what, and with experience it can be used to accurately locate where survivors are.

  • Its a matter of hitbox size. Deathslinger's harpoon is extremely small, and as such it can go through the holes for a sudden shot. Huntress can do the same with her hatchets, but the holes need to be larger. And regardless of size, any LOS opening allows for Ghostface and Myers to stalk survivors.

  • Easy- the best ship is The Pale Rose.

  • Exactly- a bunch of games have this idea. It's obnoxious to go up to Level 682 or Level 3791- they just keep it Levels 1-100 and add Devotion to make it easy. Overwatch does the same thing, with the stars and bronze/silver/gold/platinum borders. It's just a more convenient way to measure levels, there shouldn't be a reward to go along with it.

  • Ash- Demon Fighter, the main brawler of the group.

Cheryl- Survived Silent Hill, she can survive the Entity.

Steve- Comic relief, has fought the supernatural before.

  • Good job bro! Yeah my strategy was the same, except instead of Head On and Inner Strength I had Spine Chill and Diversion. Just play immersed as f* and you'll get it. I had an Oni on Lery's though, so a bit easier on my part.

  • I asked this question a while ago on a separate thread- two people told me the Cages are like Plague's Pools or Jigsaw Boxes- special auras that cannot be hidden by the Blindness status effect.

  • I see people complain about this so much- its not that hard! You just need the right build and playstyle, albeit a little luck. I acknowledge its hard to do with a stealth killer, or an incredibly high mobility one, but you need to set yourself up for success.

I got it on Lery's with an Oni- right there it played into my favor, cause that map heavily hindered his playstyle. Secondly, while you have to be close to the killer this doesn't mean you're useless. If he kicked a gen, i tapped it to stop regression. I used Diversion and Red Herring to distract him and make him lose chase with other survivors. I unhooked and healed people he managed to get, and even though it didnt help the challenge I took aggro when needed. End of the day, just play stealthily and carefully- with a little luck, you can get it!

The challenge in the next tome, which is basically this but needed to escape as well- that can be tough, but its doable like this. Just immerse and stay focused- you'll get it!

  • You're looking for a viable build, but I read the title as most selfish-centric. So...

Left Behind, Sole Survivor, Decisive Strike, and Spine Chill with a Red/Purple Key.

  • Nurse. In the words of Samination, "There's two kinds of Nurses- a good one, and a bad one." I'm a cardboard ranks Nurse but a rank 1 Survivor...

  • I'm on PC and consistently stay at Rank 1-2 (sometimes 3 if I go on a big losing streak). I've seen every Killer played, though the ones I find most often are usually Billy, Spirit, Oni, Ghostface, Freddy, and Myers. The others come in every few games, except for a handful of killers (Hag, Clown, and Demo) which are more like 1/50 games.

  • Easy. The Pig's true identity is Amanda Young. And clearly she's not A Man, Duh.

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

Both are unbalanced imo, a item shouldnt completly counter a killers power, and a killer shouldnt make some perks complelty usless

Plague can counter healing perks. Doctor can soft counter stealth perks. Instadown killers can counter perks like DH and MoM. The workaround is being able to adapt, either by finding a way to avoid the Killer's power or learn how to play w/o those perks.

  • @Peanits said:

The perk you've suggested is very similar to one of his other perks, Deathbound.

Food for thought, though: It doesn't only work with basic attacks. Any attack can trigger it. Huntress hatchets, feral frenzy, etc. will all trigger Forced Penance.

Legion's got the Legion Pin (Green button) that'll put Broken for 60s onto any Survivor with Killer Instinct- that's a better and longer lasting choice over FP. What you're saying is interesting, but there's better options I think for most Killers.

  • I think OP was referring to a situation like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KBx_8Ie9Bo

Basically, Otz bodyblocked the door handle that was 99'd and waited till he could down the Survivor with Ghostface. This kind of situation is super niche though, so really not only is it a problem, but its super big brain. The way your Wraith did it though, not just stupid- he got no BP or pips from that playstyle- but he blocked one, not both doors. If you couldnt open the second door, then at that point youre both stalling.

EDIT: Skip to 10:45 to see what im talking about.

  • As a Claudette main, lets be frank- a lot of the maps are dark, so she has an advantage that most of the other Survivors don't. Technically Adam and Tapp have it too, but they're bigger, louder, and their default outfits are more easily seen (as well as the fact that they're DLC and she's not). Claudette has been used by players who like to use her for the stealth capabilities her character model inherently provides, and as a result a lot more toxic players have gravitated towards her. People see a Claudette, they're reminded of all the toxic Claudettes they faced before and slap on a Mori or tunnel. Same happens with Meg (for different reasons). Personally, I think its stupid- you should remember the names or Steam profiles, cause hating a character in a game doesn't mean anything, especially in DBD where the only real difference between Survivors is character model and audio.

Honestly what new metas could there be that are worse than what exists? Literally most survivors are about second chance perks, while most killers are about anti-gen or time wasting perks. Take those away & you'll open up the potential to find some dynamic gameplay. And if something else heavily meta comes along just change that up eventually too. Most games always have a meta, but it tends to usually get shaken up way more often compared to DBD.

Things can always be worse. To use another game, Overwatch had a 'dive' meta where the teams would choose highly mobile characters in a blitz attack style. Wasn't fun, and stuck around so long people wanted a meta change. After that came GOATS- the most oppressive and long lasting meta in the game's history, with no counterplay and almost no variation- the only way to have a chance of winning was to counter GOATS with GOATS. It was a nightmare.

The meta can always be worse- its bad now, but balance changes need to be thought out and careful lest the game becomes more meta-locked than it is now.
