  • This happens all the time to me. In any game I play, Killer or Survivor, the Killer is almost always lower level than the survivors. It is terrible playing against 14-16 ranked killers then 1-4 ranked survivors. I wish BHVR listened and finally fixed the matchmaker, among other things.

  • I waited until I got to level 70, then bought it and got all the cosmetics at once. I'm saving the 1k Auric Cells too- I got all the characters and perks I want, so if I get to max level on the next Rift pass i'll buy it, get my Auric Cells back and a ton of cosmetics. I'm playing this game for a while, so theoretically I'll only have spent the inital $10 for the first Rift pass.

  • Pig- I loved the SAW movies, and the stalling factor that the traps give is soooo good for me.

Builds depend, but usually its one of these two:

Perks- Ruin, PGTW, M&A, and Whispers. The first two ensure the game doesn't go by too fast, and the latter pair let me know where survivors are and sneak up on them easily. I usually do some combo of Tampered Timer, Crate of Gears, Jigsaw's Sketch, and/or Rule Set No. 2.

Perks- M&A+Whispers again, but this time Surge and Survelliance. Less slowdown, but now I can easily monitor gen progress. I combo this with Video Tape/Combat Straps and Amanda's Letter for quickly finding and downing/grabbing survivors. Also, I almost always use an indoors map offering for this build (Lery's, Hawkins, the Game), but I've had it work on some more cluttered maps too.

  • Ive been grinding for it on Hag- almost got it a few times, bunch of three mans but some DC'ed. I'm running the traditional Agitation+Iron Grasp combo, MYC and Thanataphobia. Here's the kicker though- my addons are the Mint Rag and Rusty Shackles. So when someone runs down and sets some traps off, I wait until MYC procs, teleport and down the rescuer, the chase after the first guy. Easy two people- Im considering swapping Iron Grasp with STBFL though, so if I can down ppl near the basement then when they go for the save I can down more people more quickly.

  • If a killer lets me make progress (finishing a gen, unhook, etc.) and shows me he needs a challenge like that, sure. I do the same if its an equally frustrating challenge. If I'm feeling especially nice ill even let him hook me so he doesnt depip.

  • I first found it from some KYF videos that Jacksepticeye, Markiplier, Bob and Wade did (They're pretty dated now, about the time Doctor or Bubba came out?), I got the game but never really got into it. Fast forward 2 years, I'm sick and tilted after 600+ hours of being a support main in Overwatch at Gold/Plat ranks. I wanted to play PvP, but the kind where I don't rely on idiot teammates AND I can vent doing some pretty mean stuff to people. So a game where I'm a supernatural killer terrorizing people, and the most they can do is slow me down or annoy me with pallets or DS? Its Mori time 😈

EDIT: By mean stuff I mean Moris and doing Killer things to survivors, instead of healing needy Genjis and Pharahs. I want to see one of THEM spam "I need healing" to a Doctor or Nurse.

Huh. I normally just used Video Tape/John's Medical File/Combat Straps with Nurse's, BBq, Ruin and Surveillance. Worked pretty well on just about every map. First hit with dash, then relentlessly chase them until down.

No wallhacks though, so you'd need a headset with volume to what some people could describe as uncomfortable.

That works well too- I just use Amanda's Letter on those maps, bc the range on it is tiny and only on those maps does it work well. Otherwise its very situational, even a detriment bc it damages the trap potential so much.

I would have actually said no it isn't camping because they ran directly at you. Most of what people classify as "camping" is just waiting for a survivor to attempt the unhook without provocation. These survivors actively put themselves in the line of fire very early in the unhook stage.

Also, @HealsBadMan, nice to see some Pig love going around. I'll have to try that add-on build!

Thanks! I think its really good, emphasizes the ambush dash and really works with stealth- its best on LOS blocking maps like Lerys, The Game and Hawkins.

I just got dead by daylight around two months ago now, and I feel I've gotten pretty damn good at it. I watch a ton of videos to learn new, and master preexisting techniques and strategies. I am just curious to hear what different peoples' opinions are for liking different killers. Personally, I like Wraith, Legion and Clown. Wraith, because he is a very straightforward and easy to master killer, Legion because playing him forces me to go for perfect games (sort of a go big or go home type killer to me), and Clown because he is really easy for me. I am rank 10 or so in both killer and survivor and I want to keep trying to get better at this game, because I have grown passionate about it. Bill is the best survivor btw :))))

Welcome! My favorites are Pig and Claudette for Killer and Survivor. Sometimes I run David cause I got almost all the perks on him like I do Claudette. As for Killers, I really enjoy Plague, Legion, and Doctor.

  • How about twins with a tragedy that involves one becoming a Killer and the other as a survivor?

It's current Exhaustion effect is near worthless.

I like your idea and it's similar to the one I had. Mine was just gens but with the percentage restrictions that it has now. Basically just replace the the Exhaustion for Oblivious. The option you presented works as well though and people would actually consider running it.

Oblivious is vastly more useful than Exhaustion.

Btw you mentioned Blood Echoes because of the exhaustion effect and that perk is pretty trash as well. Hemorrhage is near worthless and not even worth mentioning, so it's basically a 45 second Exhaustion for being injured during a hook...that's awful and not even close to being worth running. If they also changed that Exhaustion for Oblivious now that would be decent.

Blood Echo has potential- imagine using this on a Plague or Legion. Now combo it with some other perks (Nurses or BBQ for auras, Bloodhound for tracking, etc.) and it can be lethal.

It may not be good on its own, but its great when combo'd correctly, and far from trash.

Am quite interested to see what the new challenges are.

Repair 25 generators? Catch 6 people in bear traps in one match?

It going to have a big bearing on how much further I will be able to go in the rift...

Someone found all the challenges and put them online. Don't know if these are the actual ones or if BHVR will update them due to player feedback though.

Personally I'm fine with all of them- the "Save 2 survivors from hook during EGC in 1 trial" is a hassle, but the others I can see myself doing w/o too much trouble.

Hmm. Well, I think that the spirit still has her genitalia intact, which can't be said for The Nurse or The Plague. I also am attracted to fierce women, so she would match pretty well. We may have to work past the daddy issues. Oh and the ice cold corpse grasp she has may prove to be an issue too

Why can't it be said? Nothing in Nurse's lore says anything 'happened', and Plague is no different than a leper.

That being said, Adiris or Amanda.

Just like Fibijean stated. All is picked at random. (RNG) Until someone plays an offering.

If only a survivor plays a map offering then the survivor's map would be 100% picked.

if a survivor and the killer pick a map offering 75% of the time it will go to the Killer's picked map and 25% of the time to the survivor's

if all survivors pick a random map offering and the killer does as well the game will randomly choose one of the offerings and then go to that specific map.

Isn't it unfair for the Killer to have more favorable odds when putting their offering against a survivor? Or does the 4v1 aspect counteract this?

  • She's a devout acolyte and does her hookings to appease the Entity which she thinks is her god. Among the Killers she like that overly religious person who turns the conversation to faith all the time, complete with a WWED (What Would the Entity Do) bracelet.

The problem with in game voice chat is next to no one in the community wants it. Sure there are a small group that do but a lot of people don't including the devs. It would increase the levels of toxicity and such. I personally wouldn't want to hear a 12 yr old screaming at me while i'm hooking him calling me racial slurs and telling me how he did my mom last night and how bad i am at the game.

Then mute him- same goes for other toxic players and/or language barriers.

    @AlexisFox said:

Comms are irrelevant. The game gives you all the information you need. When I play solo if I get decent team mates we don't need comms because everyone knows what to do already. When I play SWF sure I'm on comms but none of us are talking about the match. We're just chatting about whatever and having a good time. Comms aren't the problem with SWF, what causes people problems with those teams is simply that everyone on the team actually knows what they are doing.

Some people use comms to coordinate their teams, not everyone just uses it to socialize. There's a difference between four really good solo survivors and 4 really good SWFs with comms.

It's a simple fix with simple solutions. If you don't want to use it, then disable the feature in options. If someone's giving you a hard time and you don't want to mute, report them (I know BHVR is bad with reports, but its better than nothing). Comms would fix way more problems than they would create, and problems they do make can be fixed or worked around via a few handy options.

  • @FluorescentLemon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106775/if-swfs-are-such-a-big-problem

They'd just use Discord or console party chats to get around it

See thats the thing- if every survivor could use comms, then Discord or party chats would only exclude solos, and thats more of a detriment to survivors than if everyone used DBD comms. If survivors could use comms with their teams regardless of solos or swfs, then BHVR can account for that and balance the game accordingly, most likely by buffing Killers in some way.

  • Tier 41 or 42, can't remember which :p and I have the Trapper challenge and the 200k BP challenge left in Chapter 2

  • Toxicity, no matter the reason, is never ok. There should be more ingame consequences to it, like how t-bagging drops more blood orbs for Oni.

Pretty much. Although I would replace Vile Emetic with an Apple, myself...

I can't wait to get those Oni addons when he comes out. It'll be so fun! : D

Using an apple is good, but I don't depend on Corrupt too much. Good survivors will instinctively not cleanse so as to deny it to Plague, which in turn makes Black Incense OP. If they do start to cleanse, I want them infected ASAP, so Vile Emetic. After they're all infected, or if we pass by a fountain in a chase, then I get the Corrupt.

  • I LOVE using Black Incense with Vile Emetic on Plague- survivors get infected super quickly, and I can see them no matter if they're hooked, walking, or on the ground (so sad that last bits getting nerfed RIP). Oni's Bloody Glove and purple blood orbs addon is nearly identical :D

  • So t-bagging makes the Killer more powerful, and his power is Yamaoka's Wrath?

I see what you did there devs.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

Dying Light tokens aren't gained from hooking the obsession.

It could work on a killer that doesn't have to pallet dive regularly - but I do see this working on stealth killers who are free to juggle and are good at getting in surprise hits. I suspect this might be good in the hands of an expert Wraith.

Ah, you're right :p I was thinking of Furtive Chase.

  • He's an ancestor of Rin's- not the original ancestor mentioned in the Family Residence lore (he's got a dad), but he's from around the time of feudal Japan.

  • How about mini tutorials where it explains the in depth description and tips for each Killer's power? Add a small reward like 10k BP and make it only available if you have the Killer unlocked.

  • They all have potential as long as the setup is done right, but overall Spirit- I want to see the first 10-15% of the movie being a normal human girl living a great life, then she gets killed and builds up to killing her father (like a Conjuring movie, but from the Killer's perspective).

  • 1.Demogorgon. Powerful and brutal.

    2.Hag. Gory and glorious.

3.Spirit. Mostly because of her unique facial animations but it looks awesome.

    4.Ghostface. Selfie game is strong.

5.Plague. Pray to the dark gods, drown the filthy survivor in vomit, then toss them away like meh.

I hope the new Killer has an awesome Mori- the backstory alone gives me high expectations, not to mention they're supposed to be related to Spirit and her wrath.

  • Don't answer that- they'll delete this post XD

  • Pig or Plague- Surveillance, PGTW, Ruin, and last is one of the following: BBQ&C, Discordance, Corrupt Intervention, or Thrilling Tremors.

  • Lorewise, we only know that the Entity is unaffected by time, so it takes Killers (and possibly survivors, even though they all seem to come from a not too distant past or future) from any point in time.

There's no info or proof that the Entity can take Killers or Survivors from alternate realities (I don't have the link, but in an interview Devs have said that Ghostface and Myers are from the same reality/timeline, clarifying Ghostface's love of horror movies and him recognizing the iconic Myers). So unless we assume the Entity can do this, the only way to allow this would be if the Entity took a younger Rin as a survivor, then escaped only to be butchered by her father and become a Killer.

Devil's advocate though, it makes sense as to why the Entity focused on the Yamaoka family after Rin's escape- it could even have been interested in not just her father for revenge on Rin, but her ancestor (The Oni) as another potential Killer.

Oh so you're new? What have you got so far? I would say save up for Pop Goes The Weasel instead or buy Clown but you might have him. Freddy is an amazing choice for slowdown, unlock Thana on him and with his rope add-ons you're good to go.

I'm semi-new, started about 3 months ago and got Ruin, PGTW, and all the Teachables for Trapper, Wraith, Huntress, Bubba, Spirit, Plague, Legion, Pig, Ghost Face, and soon Nurse.

For my Gen Protector builds I like Survelliance, Ruin, PGTW, and the last is variable (BBQ, Discordance, Thrilling Tremors, etc.) Was gonna be Surge but :p Killers are usually Plague or Pig, my favs.

  • I have a breakdown of the leaks, trailers, and wiki info on another thread, but its a bit hefty so I don't want to quote the whole thing. It's in the Lore subsection.

TLDR, I think it's the ancestor, big brutish guy with a bloodlust phase (either like Legion's FF or a switch stance like Doctor).

  • OOF

I've been saving up my shards so I could get Surge in the Shrine (don't really want to play Demo, grind and level him, etc.), but if its THIS lackluster I'll just save up for an OC killer or a really good 'licensed' perk instead.

  • @Cornpopers_Evan said:

Honestly, I only get jump scared by like 3 killers anymore. Those being Ghostface, Hag and Michael, that's about it.

Same- I don't face too many Myers but a good GF scares the S** out of me, and I'm practically blind so I don't see Hag traps- even worse if theres the addon to disable the phantasms.

  • Nah, Nurse is also WW2- her outfit is from the 20s. Says so in her default cosmetic description.

  • Boomer Clown? Wasn't he born in the 1930's? Technically he's WW2 generation. Trapper, Myers, Doc, even Bubba are Boomers :p

Thing is, its never obvious with these teasers. They usualy lead us to something that its clearly not. In this example, it was the katana. However, what i really think is missing is the Demon Mask (red one), which is shown in full teaser released on youtube.

Second thing is, while Rin's father makes most sense, its too obvious. Personaly i belive its Rin's mother, taking the shape of The Yokai (japanese demons, which is probably killers name), or even The Ogress, which is a demon that mourns for loss of her child (in this case, its Rin). I know this is a longshot, but it would be awesome if i guessed correctly.

TL;DR -> It's the red demon mask missing, not katana. Killer is The Yokai/The Ogress, being Rin's mother, mourning the death of her child, Rin.

Is the mask missing ingame? I played the map yesterday and saw it there, but with the trailer being released this morning (11/13) it couldve changed idk

  • That was mostly because their powers are very similar (chainsaw cooldowns, charge times, etc.), unless Yamaoka #2 (her dad or the 1st Yamaoka referenced in the map lore) has a power that similar to Rin they won't be sharing addons.

Also like @kermit_snacc_choke said above, its not likely a frustrated office worker or bloodthirsty warrior will use hair ribbons and sports caps :p

  • @TatsuiChiyo said:

New Killer, gonna call him Oni for now, may have an ability related to blood since that was focused on. Maybe his ability is related to tracking? Not to many Tracking Killers so I think it would be a nice addition.

I think so. A lot of the themes from the First Cut GIF and this new trailer appear in the lore entry for the Yamaoka map.

The estate was bought by the first of the Yamaoka, a shipwreck survivor, who came from a distant ashy island. He washed ashore just as political tensions sparked the flames of war.

Yamaoka joined the battlefield and unleashed hell on his foes. No one could match the raw fury of his Katana, which elevated him to a legend. They say his devilish mask haunted the dreams of all men.

His fame grew as he spilled blood on both sides of the conflict. With power came wealth, which he used to buy the estate and begin his legacy.

The katana is missing on the Yamaoka map following the GIF teaser, the mask and blood are in this new one- and don't forget, the leaked audio and coding for the Ch.14 killer, AKA Sweden, states that he has a 'normal' and 'crazy' phase. Crazy could easily mean a bloodlusted warrior.

The Entity has been confirmed to pull people from multiple time periods adn timelines. Getting a pre-murder and post-murder Rin isn't beyond its ability, especially if it thought the trauma survivor Rin would go through having to escape her father (or her own twisted self) would help nourish and entertain it more.

    @Superyoshiegg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/830384#Comment_830384

There's obviously multiple dimensions in the Dead by Daylight universe (as evidenced by Bill being from a world that was ravaged by an Infection in 2008, while several other characters are from the modern day - Feng is explicitly stated to have played in a 2016 video game tournament).

This means its theoretically possible for the Entity to grab a pre-murdered Rin from an alternate dimension to the one we have as the Spirit.

Well, dimensions, time periods and time lines are three different things. W/o getting into all the wibbly wobbly physics of it all, its like having different strands of string. A different dimension is a length of string entirely separate from our own, but similar in its creation (like two red strings). A different time period is a different length of the one string (the first inch, as opposed to to the second or third). A different timeline is like a frayed string, where at one point it branches off into two or more strings (in this case, that point would be the decision of 'when' the Entity took Rin).

We know from the licensed killers and survivors that the Entity can cross dimensions, and from the killers that it can cross time periods (I think the devs said the Nurse was with the Entity longer than the other killers), but we don't have confirmation of it crossing different timelines. Its a technicality I know, but important to consider when looking at the lore and how the Entity works.

    *Edited for grammar and typos*

  • Monto- funny, big brain and good at both Killer and Survivor? He's the one who originally got me into DBD.

Noob3 is pretty funny too, I like him but his stuff is more comedic than learning about the game.

  • @Tarvesh said:

I would LOVE IT if we got Rin's dad as a killer and got a survivor version of Rin as well.

Since the Entity pulls killers and survivors from different time periods, pulling Rin from before the murders would be possible. It'd be amazing to be Rin and going against Spirit. An awesome mirror match!

That implies that the Entity snatched up Rin as a survivor, then she managed to escape its realm. Thats really hard to believe, especially considering that she'd act like nothing happened once she returned.

Conversely, it makes more sense as to why the Entitiy would choose her over her father- she'd know exactly how to call out to the Entity and become a killer.

  • I don't know how other Plagues play, but generally I don't rely on Corrupt because so many people in purple and red ranks don't cleanse. I only ever use it for BP after a 4k or grab it if I'm in a chase and we pass by it.

  • I don't remember where I heard it (a DBD streamer I think?) but someone suggested that the perks needed for the challenges are temporally unlocked for all survivors and/or killers for the challenges (EX: Empathy being available to all survivors immediately for a short duration while people do its challenge, then it goes away when you do the challenge).

  • I was a baby survivor, and one of my first games was against Demogorgon (I'm fairly new, about 120 hrs). One exit gate was open, the other survivors out of it, but Demo was guarding the door and he already closed the hatch. I went for the other door and almost had it open when he found me. Thing was, instead of grabbing me he panicked and did his shred on me- hurt but I was still up. I opened the door and used dead hard to close the distance before he recuperated, but his cooldown ended and he shredded again- knocked me right out and let me escape crawling. Closest game I've had!

  • @StarWae said:

I know this might seem crazy, but just hear me out here. This community is divided by 3 types, the killer mains, the survivor mains and the people who play both sides, and that's a problem because everybody just keeps talking crap about the other side (forget the third type for this) and nobody here can actually make peace because they are constantly talking about nerfs and buffs and how this needs to be removed and blah blah blah...

This needs to STOP, as the community just keeps getting more toxic and bad, other games are just looking at us in disgust because we absolutely don't care about the general gameplay, but just our perspective of the game and nobody cares about the other side, BHVR is losing potential players because they see all the crap and think "hell nah I'm out".

I could continue on, but I think you got the point.

Ehhh, try as much as you'd like you'll never get rid of toxicity. Funny though- reason I picked up this game is because its toxicity is nowhere near that of my main game (Overwatch),

  • Killer- Surveillance.

I got into DbD about 2 months ago, and after trying out the 'free' killers decided to pick up Pig because SAW was my favorite horror movie series. I get that it was a meme perk back in the day but it has saved my butt monitoring gens and making sure I know when and where survivors are while playing.

    Survivor- Plunderer's Instinct

I don't play survivor often, but when I do I like getting items in the map rather than bringing stuff in. Plunderer's helps, and with some other perks it always give me something good.

  • I don't really have a killer for 'bad days', I just throw on a mori. Maybe it's toxic, but I don't have anyone Im really good with yet.

  • With all due respect, especially to the LGBTQIA+ community, this is a game about serial killers and supernatural monsters torturing and killing innocents who are struggling to survive. I don't think the survivors have much time for love and romance of anykind, nor do I think their status as LGBT would nor should change their experience in the Fog compared to anyone else's :p
