I ran it for a bit before I went back to Head On.
Like yeah it's good but Head On brings me sheer unbridled joy that nothing else in this game can compare to. In solo pulling off a time where someone ds'd a wraith and I then head on stunned him from the same locker? Time of my life, a wonderful play considering solo queue and it was a blast.

It's a ######### video game and they're meant to be played for fun. this means that things a majority of people find unfun, regardless of whatever side this issue is on, should be addressed, or at least listened to. 3 minutes for 5 gens isn't fun, and neither is being facecamped at 5 gens a minute into the match. a quad stack using full meta isn't fun, but neither is playing solo vs ruin/undying/tinkerer/pain resonance nurse with 2x range and a midwich offering.
stop making it a battle between sides because nothing will get solved.

I’ve seen it a couple of times fighting Slinger. When he was friendly and hostile based on my survivor. It’s not very common. Said slinger will always pick Noose. Then targets any Taps, Clauddys, Adams, Jakes, etc. Sparing King, Kate, Steve, etc. It’s a wild sight to see. To say the least.
If people think DBD is racist they never played CoD where N-Bomb is every lobby.😂

Right, so in this scenario just report them for a chat offence (whatever that option is in German; I'd ask my bf but he also plays in English lol). That saves the chatlog, which is all that's needed. If you do fill out a report with screenshots, use the Username. If Support then ask you for a Steam64 ID, send them back a slightly passive aggressive email until they realise where they went wrong and all is good in the world.
(also the only bit of the chat I understood was the first message, but it does help set the tone)

honestly i see why you'd want this, but also it's only ever used when things completely break the game. i feel like they don't want to set a precedent that anything being changed/removed in an upcoming update should be killswitched, and also give some time for those that use those cosmetics for... non-nefarious purposes a chance to say goodbye.

You're right, removing the problem item is one solution. That's a pretty easy choice to make and an easy mistake to make too. What else can be considered racist now? Sexist? Homophobic? Transphobic?
Do we continue this cycle of removing content from the game? Do we remove people of color from the game so that they aren't targeted for playing people of color?
Where do the easy choices stop?
considering the time it took- this was first raised in 2018, btw- between bhvr saying they were looking into removing it (Sistas of the Fog Podcast with not_Queen is where this was mentioned) and now, then I can hardly say it was an easy decision to make, and since a lot of the content in the game can't be used in the same way i doubt we'll see much more removals (since the only other content we've lost from DBD- being the Stranger Things chapter- was almost certainly due to licensing issues).

auric cells are a net loss to their revenue + a cost through royalties. you did not buy these masks so they have no reason to do so

I think this is it here. Toxicity comes in all forms, not just hate speech against certain groups of people. Yet we are openly allowing everyone to trash talk each other like it's going to help resolve such a tremendous problem with this game.
But do take notice that even they said they already ban players for racist comments. Meaning if those players were being reported for racism they should already be banned. Not sure why this should include removing in-game content or why it's even merited, when there are other more pressing concerns with the game.
in order to ban someone for a racist comment one must first receive the racist comment. in order to ban someone for racially-targeted abuse of any kind, including harassment using the cosmetic, one must receive lots of the same racially-targeted abuse towards themselves from that person. therefore, by removing one of the tools used for the ratially-targeted harassment it causes less people to receive as much racially-targeted harassment, which is a plus.

These cosmetics were common rarity and earned just through playing the game. The value of these masks, were they purchasable from the Store, would be 3,600 shards (900*4). Therefore, you're getting an extra 2,400 shards just for having played the game.

I would be grateful* if BHVR realized they shouldn't punish an entire community for a small percentage of players actions.
taking it away absolutely does something, it forced them to be much clearer when there's racist intentions. if youre just being facecamped + hit on hook, you can put it down to a lot of different factors without some extra push towards showing it's meant to be racist. and now they've removed the most subtle ones, the more obvious ones can be reported and dealt with accordingly, featuring a better moderation system at some point within the next decade.

take away a tool of the harassment to help stop it happening and then beef moderation to ban the rest

If the survivor are stupid enough to think they can finish they gen before pain resonance (that removes 15% of gen progression) they should be punished for their greed.
But don't worry, dead man switch will be nerfed even before going live. There is no way they are going to let a perk that requires survivors to have half of a brain to counter it stay.
Remember when everyone said they'd never let Deadlock out of PTB as-is and they'd never let Pain Resonance out of PTB as is and then they were both released to live as-is?
