Just a quick disclaimer on all of this. You can draw any conclusions you want using my data, as long as you respect the data itself, the experiment that was done and the way the data was collected. Please, comment down bellow your thoughts on all this and the conclusions you draw from it. Thanks!

Also, english is not my first language, so take it easy on my grammar and stuff xd

    Introduction

This experiment was done just by simple boredom of playing rank 1 games, my aim was to rank down having fun (sort of) and collecting data along the way.

For those unfamiliar with the "Basement Guardian" concept, a quick way to describe it is: Protect the basement and the basement chest. It's pretty boring and most of the time you will be staring at a empty basement.

    The experiment

My Basement Guardian (BG) was done using The Wraith. In all 50 games no addons or offerings were used. The perks Shadowborn Lv.3, Franklin's Demise Lv.2, Blood Warden Lv.1 and Hex: No One Escapes Death Lv.1 were used on all games, no exceptions.

Here is the rules I followed on my games:

    1. First thing to do as soon as the game starts it to locate and go down the basement.
    2. All survivors will be ignored before I reach the basement for the first time.
    3. As soon as I leave the basement I can't leave the building the basement is situated on [For example, If the basement is situated on the Killer Shack, I can stay down the basemente, go up on the shack or stay as far as 3 steps away from any exterior wall from it. Same for the Thompson house building if the basement is located there] but I can't keep roaming the building, must only move away from the basement itslef with purpose (aka new hiding spot to protect the basement or going after a survivor)
    4. If a exit door is directly on the side of the building I'm currently on, I can smack down the survivors but only when Blood Warden blocking is on.
    5. Any item dropped by the survivors via Franklin's must be protected from them.
    6. I'm not allowed to slug if there is a survivor as near as 5 meters from me in direct line of sight. Must pick-up even when they have DS.
    7. Always go for the ones stealing my chest first, then people with items, then rescuers of people on hook and then any other survivor. This priority must always be respected.
    8. I'm allowed to protect NOED if it's on the same building as I'm located.

I followed all these 8 rules on all 50 games and didn't had any problem.

    The data

All the data collected is available on this spreadsheet here

Some cool highlights from the data collected are:

Fastest match was only 5 minutes and 13 seconds from the moment my camera showed me on the map to the moment it faded away.

The average time of the match was 7 minutes and 43 seconds.

The longest match took 13 minutes and 21 seconds.

Léry's was the map that I had most matchs on, appearing 8 times (one time even ignoring a Badham offering from survivors).

Despite the odds, there was one 4k and on 27 matches there was at least one survivor killed (54%)

On 9 matches, the survivors didn't even checked the basement.

The chest was sucessfully protected on 47 matches, looted on 2 matches and in one match the chest was searched but the item never left the chest.

The highest BP Score I got was 23559 bloodpoints on the match 09. The lowest was 0 in many matches.

    Conclusions

As I stated before, there are many conclusions that can be made using this data taking my gameplay style and rules in consideration, but I'll leave mines here as I experienced all that happened.

To be honest the only conclusion I draw from this is the confirmation of some behaviours that survivors had/have. Almost in all cases when a survivor got hit and lost his item, if not on the EGC already, he would try alone or even with full squad to come and recover it even if this cost the loss of more items and even death of some teammates.

Some survivors already excepted the killer to be on the basement after all the game MIA and tried, in vain, to check corner before entering not realizing I was invisible.

Some survivors took on themselves to steal the chest when they realized I was trying to protect it.

And most interesting was that parties of SWF either no one died or at least 2 died when trying to get items or teammates back from the basement.

Based on all those observations it's easy and accurate, in my opinion, to say that survivors tend to know they are more powerful than killers, not fearing to coming down the basement even knowing that a killer is there and for reasons as unimportant as taking a toolbox back. Not only that but they never left before EGC made them do it, usually staying near the basement but just out of the building. Taunting, teabaging and most annoying making loud noises from far away to get my attention. For me, this just show up how entitled the survivor role is, not excluiding me or any killer main, cause we all do this stuff, no mather what just because we can. Even the fastest match took 2 minutes more than it should because survivors refused to just leave before EGC made them. They didn't bother to check basement but they couldn't resist to stay at the doors waiting for the timer to go down. And the longest match was only that long because they refused to open the doors before trying to get items back.

In the end, what I saw, what I lived and experienced on the matches about the Psyque of the survivors are not backed by my data in any way, shape or form, so I'll not turn this into that discussion, but I had to share about.

I hope this data can draw you or devs some cool conclusions about the game and how players behave when facing an odd situation and thanks for reading.

That was an interesting read. Pretty cool experiment.

  •  I met him, 15 years ago; I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no conscience, no understanding in even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this... six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and... the blackest eyes - the Devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up, because I realized that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil

  • This pretty much describes Dbd in a nutshell sometimes

That was a good quote. Shows how damaged she is from that encounter 40 years ago.

  • I just play the game. Best way to learn is failure. Failure is the greatest teacher.

He is a lot stronger now with the recent changes. Many are having a lot more fun with them.

It's not an easy one to say if it will be worth it for yourself as it depends on what killers you like to play.

I enjoy most Killers outside of Spirit, Nurse, and Huntress. Never really got the hang of those 3. That being said I like all the Liscene killers with the exception of the Pig the best.

  • I first encountered it earlier where they kept doing it. But they 4gen themselves and i was doc so i played the long game and eventually got them all.

Any perk that works with TR is affected by Dark Devotion's TR. Check Otzdarva's video for details.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVeAaJ4XPQo

But yeah, in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, this is fun and evil >:D

Hmm i'll give that one a shot thanks

Whispers is amazing on him. That way you'll always know when someone is within range of your Static Blast.

Distressing will make your terror radius bigger, so you can hit more people.

Otherwise, anything that messes with skill checks can be nice on him.

Dark Devotion is a fun way to mess around as well, since hitting the obsession gives them your terror radius, and your Static Blast comes from them.

Other than those, basically anything that you'd run on other killers.

Dark Devotion does that and is that a plague perk?

  • @Freki said:

@Pythonheir lol repeating what was said does not make it any clearer. if a killer dc's they don't keep the sac achievement in the tome as they don't get anything added in. I don't know if i should shake my head or to laugh.

@GhostofYharnam I'm not here to argue but you wanted to.

I never wanted to argue at all. Why are people with pig avis such dicks.

  • @Freki said:

@GhostofYharnam think what you will, I can ONLY read into your meaning so much or i can just take your text at face value and that is what I DID... I didn't try to put words into your mouth, if you had even mentioned survivor side as well some where in there i'd believe you but your first post was from a killer player's perspective ranting about survivors DC'ing. when called out on it you switched up and included survivors. yet you did so in a later post so my response is correct. sheesh.

Tbh it was from a survivors perspective the first part then when i said what other dumb reason is where i include any other reason killers or survivors dc for. Im not hear to argue with you.

  • @Freki said:

sigh.... @GhostofYharnam I was being sarcastic but your original comment is this: "Can't even play a match without some entitled brat dcing because they hate the map, the killer found them first, or some other dumb crap. Please just do something this is getting way out of hand." guess what that doesn't say anything about annoying on both sides TILL a later response. I end up agreeing with your later statements.

@Yung_Slug yes it's GREAT to go on to another match when you were almost to get the challege that says complete 1 gen with poised AND make it out, then the killer DC's... I'd love to hear you be the one that happens on. moving to the next match doesn't matter in these cases

@Pythonheir just what? I was talking about the KILLER dc'ing! lol

Lol the other dumb crap was to imply any other reason anyone decides to dc killer or survivor. Im not going to list an endless list for both lol

  • @Freki said:

It's great to know that you're upset by dc's because others are too.. but it's just perfect that when survivors have the upper hand and are escaping the killer can dc and deny survivors blood points, completed challenges etc... so sorry it only affects you.

Really the dc issue is a pain yes. but it's not just one sided.

I said dcs in general were annoying i play both sides. Its annoying when anyone dcs in general. If you can't handle losing then they shouldnt be playing a game that relies on outplaying your opponent.

  • @NullEXE said:

They are working on a DC penalty. It's just buggy right now

Isn't everything in any game these days lol

  • @megdonalds said:

It's been always like that almost a year now.

I know but its so frustrating to have a teammate dc. Like why waste time even playing the game when you dc more than you play.

  • I play on console and shes not my playstyle. I prefer stealthy killers such as The Shape or Ghostface.

  • Is the new archive tome today as well?

  • Tome 4 comes out today?

  • I'm on break from Dbd for a couple weeks. I wanna play the new Gta, Red Dead, and Battlefront 2 updates.

  • @TunnelVision said:

No thanks. I'd rather have the messages on PSN, that way i can report them and know something will be done.

I constantly report messages on psn.

  • @MisterHoots said:

When a killer quits, the survivors should at least get all of the blood points they’ve earned up to that point, if not survival or bonus points as well. I’m tired of this playing for 20 minutes crap and getting zip to show for it. Sucks.

You usually keep your points unless the killer is pulling there internet cord.

  • Imo they should revert the hatch back to not spawning if you havent finished at least 2 generators.

  • @Smichaels82 said:

    2 minutes? That's laughable.

My apologies that this has already been brought up but I will keep bringing it up until the devs change it. I'm not opposed to the end game collapse existing, just how short it is.

2 minutes is not enough time at the end of the game when it comes to saving people from hooks, healing them, and/or getting them to the exit gates safely. And if the killer brings NOED, forget about it! We're supposed to hunt for the NOED totem, unhook survivors, and still make it to the exit gates.... in 2 minutes?! HAH!

Now I know this is purely a situational complaint, and really it's only been an inconvenience a handful of times, but lately, it seems I've been eaten up by the floor more times than getting sacrificed by a hook. How did we go from an infinite amount of time at the end of the game to.... 2 (BLEEPing) minutes?!?!?!!!!!!

I'm convinced the developers didn't even test this out at all and just threw it in the game. Or if they did, they didn't run into the problems I have and thought, "Yeah! This works!"

I believe a nice fix would be either: a) lengthen the time to 3-4 minutes, or b) keep it at 2 minutes but make it so the timer STOPS when survivors are in the dying state or hooked AND have the timer slow down dependent on how many survivors are injured. (i.e. if one survivor is injured, timer slows down 15%. If two are injured, timer slows down 30%, so on and so forth).

I love this game but gosh darn there are so many little things about it that I absolutely hate. Hit boxes too!

    Thanks!

The point of the egc is to get the hell out of there. If someone is down or on hook don't open gates all the way. Egc slows down if people are in dying state or on hook.

  • The main problem with this bug is yes killers can be respectful and choose not to hook in basement. Then you also have those survivors who will run close to basement if they're close to going down thinking you wont hook them in basement. In the end you're getting hatemail about it.

  • I just don't understand how this bug even made it in.

  • They never did anything with the Noed one. Good luck ever getting Noed to even activate these days.

When comparing Clown's and Freddy's powers, they both do the same thing for the same amount of time really. The difference comes in placement. Its alot easier to place Freddys snares at EXACTLY where you want it for survivors to get slowed at the exact TIME you want them to get slowed. Clown's gas feels more...sloppy. Survivors feel the slow sooner often times, or see theyre gonna go into it and know theyre gonna get slowed, resulting in a dropped pallet for you to break. With Freddy, those snares seem more welcoming to get 1 more loop in before dropping the pallet... By the time they hit it and get slowed, its too late.

Yeah i loved what they did with Freddy.

I thought id like the pallets more when he was first released, but snares makes me feel like I have more control of the situation and I feel is just versatile. Fake pallets has you eating REAL pallets mindlessly while snares lets you get hits in before the pallet is ever thrown.

Yeah i love the snares more than I thought I would. Hes a better clown in that regard.

  • @LordGlint said:

Theres really no reason NOT to use a slowdown addon on Freddy. If your wanting to use his snares, your left with addons to help his teleport recharge...which Im not really waiting on whenever I wanna use it anyway, afew niche purple addons, the completely pointless block addons and 5 slowdown addons. If they made the blocks do something useful, I might use em but... atm I feel like Im kinda shoehorned into using at least 1 of his 5 slowdown addons, just due to a lack of decent choices.

Yeah i feel the same way. Ocassionally i use fake pallets for the lolz.

I main Freddy, but I like to experiment with other killers and try to get good at them. Last month played alot of Bubba, and thinking of trying to practice Billy this month. Threads like this one that wants a cap on action speed slowdowns look past everything else I feel like. The guy who cant slow you down with Freddy's ropes will just slow you down with his dresses instead. Even loadouts like mine are considered "Forever Freddy" to some, even though it would go uncompletely unchanged by such change suggestions.

I like to switch up killers myself. I dont play spirit or nurse. I suck as them. But i like to try new things out. I tend to use at least one slowdown addons on Freddy.

I like having BBQ for the bloodpoints, but I definitely take advantage of the aura reading aspect whenever possible. As far as chase perks, I use to be right there with ya for STBFL, but I found brutal strength works really well for Clown.

I used to love clown but i suck so bad lately with Clown. I stopped playing Ghostface recently with the surge of antiheal Ghostface. I'm enjoying trapper of late.

This is about right. There's only 3 types of perks in the game really; slowdown, tracking, and chase. If you don't need chase or tracking perks what else are you going to use?

I don't usually need or use tracking perks. Only chase based perk i use is stbfl.

  • @Mikey4Hire said:

Its honestly boring and very rarely ever fun to go up against, at this point I'm just gonna dc for every slow game legion and slow game Freddy I go up against. I don't mind having some things to slow down game but when the game becomes unplayable for survivors because repairing a gen or healing takes 5 minutes or more, that's when it's a problems

Until they actually fix other things. Slowdown builds are pretty much one of the only viable builds killers can use.

  • If only that worked in red ranks lol

  • Yeah I don't know how im even going to do that Noed Challenge in egc.

  • They rip the power cord from system or internet.

  • Probably trying to do the basement challenge.

  • Inner Strength and Bt. Then mix and match the last 2
