  • I think that wouldn't be to bad if they lowered the amount of stalk to get to t3 and maybe tweek his ms. This way it removes the annoying part but gets buffs in a different area.

I'm sure people also had fun with Iri head, old MoM, old DS, old Balanced, pre-nerf Moris, Keys and Instaheals, but taking something that a side might find fun away is baggage that clearly hasn't stopped good changes from happening.

I agree with all those been great examples I'm just saying we need to be careful balance because of fun or unfun is a slippery slope. I think the biggest issue with TP seems to be that your teammates an idiot and you end up paying for it. I understand stand why that is frustrating but that is also the nature of a team game take fps for example if your doing awesome but you have teammates that just keep dying your going to pay for it even know your doing great.

I'm not advocating for fun being the #1 balancing factor, i'm just advocating for it being a major consideration along with game balance.

You can have both. It's tough, but doable.

It is really tough especially if you nerf or rework TP you got to remember your taking something fun away from the killer. I do think alot of people forget that in the argument when then say it's not fun it needs to change, your making a change because x isn't fun for survivors but now you have taken something fun away from the killer.

    Neither am I.

Taking fun into account is very clearly possible because it very definitely happens, but my problem starts when people scoff and put up quotation marks whenever """"fun"""" factors into changing anything, like it's some fairy tale told by liars to baby game developers.

Except people clearly can figure out what's generally fun and what isn't somehow, because we're still playing video games for some reason. Hope the "fun doesn't mean anything for balancing" crowd enjoy their validation and Dead Hards.

And you might be surprised to hear that i'm in favor of changing DH and a lot of other things that absolutely suck for killer, for balance and for fun.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2756407#Comment_2756407

You're playing a horror game. Everyone else is playing a multiplayer game. Asym or not, you play against other players and expect a fair shot.

You're here for an entirely different reason than almost every other player. But as long as you're having fun, go wild.

The thing is fun been the number1 reason for change opens up a bag of worms because if fun is the reason for change then those crazy outliers you pointed out have a valid argument in why things need to be changed because there veiw of fun is just as valid as anyone else and where do you draw the line at what's ok because it's considered fun.

Alot of times people act like that because this isn't fun is there whole argument and everyone else that finds it fun or doesn't have an issue can also make a completely valid argument. So now you have multiple conflicting arguments but they are all still valid based on fun.

Some people like stepping in bear traps and getting punched in the face.

Others like playing against old Legion.

There's always outliers. Doesn't suddenly mean fun is this invisible mythical force we just can't fathom or comprehend.

Yeah you could look at the extremes only but that doesn't change the fact that fun is completely subjective and balancing around an idea that can and will change for almost every person you ask isn't a good idea. Where's the middle ground in what's fun and what isn't. I can say DH isn't fun because I just don't find it fun to think I have a hit and them DH and have to continue chase for 5 more seconds and that's a legitimate reason in terms of it been fun.

Btw I'm not saying they shouldn't take fun into consideration but it shouldn't be the number 1 thing you base balance on.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

No one gives a damn how balanced your game is if it isn't fun.

Consequently, I think a gap can be bridged between fun and balance-- it doesn't have to be one or the other. Otherwise, Hag would've been deleted outright.

Don't know why some people scoff at the mere idea of """"""fun""""""" being a factor for changing anything in this video game we play for our entertainment".

The problem with using fun as a balance point is fun is completely subjective what I find fun and you find fun could be complete opposite how are you supposed to balance around both opposite ideas of fun? You could ask 20 different people what they consider fun and get 20 different answers how you balance around that? Fair isn't subjective like fun you can ask was there counter play, did I mess up,did they make a really good play and thats why x happend.

Balancing for fun is a guaranteed way to make a bunch of people mad because they don't think that it's fun that way and you can't argue with them because they are right because what they find fun is completely there opinion.

    needs to be changed.

Myers shouldnt be able to just walk up to someone with a 99%ed tier 3 and immediately remove them from the match (especially bad when he stalked another survivor to get to 99%, so you got no chance at all).

i'd like it to be changed so you can only kill Survivors with it that have been fully stalked, while also draining the stalk you can get from them quicker than usual.

that way, if you get tombstone pieced, its because of your own misplays that allowed myers to drain your stalk.

You know if you added this you would have to remove some of the draw backs. If it takes him forever to hit t3 is slowed down and had to fully stake a survivor it would be pointless to run because the game would be over before you fully stalk one person.

  • So many awsers in this post to questions that weren't ask. I think it's funny how everyone is like it's just one second but if it would of been 1 second added it would be a whole different story.

There's really no reason for the buff to be honest and it's not like it's random great skill checks either they are always in the same spot moving at the same speed after a little while they will be like second nature timing wise and the base wiggle time will be 15 seconds.

I don't know why everyone is getting all up in arms about it been more accessible its not like thet ask why are they making it more accessible.

  • Hatch doesn't lower your mmr and it doesn't raise the survivor mmr

Requiring skill does not justify its strength, especially when it has literally no downside

two seems a bit less than "every single killer perk"...

and a lot of people view the ruin changes as a buff (not a nerf)

    What?

Yes and no old Ruin was super effective against new player and really didn't effect experienced ones but could be combined with other perks. New ruin is only effective if your putting on pressure and can still be worked through.

I am not a very good nurse but I would really like to see the following build in action. I really do think it has potential (I think)

Lethal Pursuer- know exactly where the survivors are immediately at the start of the match and waste no time

Scorage Hook: Pain Resonance- Know where to go after hooking a survivor and gain gen regression

Starstruck- Try and go for them to get more Pain Resonance value and faster downs

Agitation- Really nice combo with Starstruck to increase terror radius and affect more survivors and quicker walking speed to hooks.

I don’t really have the add-ons in mind. Feel free to use what you want. I have been using Wooden Horse and Dark Cincture. You can feel free to use a map offering.

I am going to give another try, I did not do very well on the swamp map. Please share your gameplay if you give it a try, I would really like to see it in action from a very good player :)

It should work it seems like a version of starstruck, agitation, disstressing, infectious nurse .

  • Cool thanks. We really need away to cut down the grind I can't tell you how many times I've level a killer up and gotten 0 gen regression perks or haven't gotten kindred on survivor.

  • What if you could chose what rank of the perk you wanted to buy? I just thought of this. Say at level 1 you get kindred you could choose to buy the level 1 perk for 4k or the 2 for 9k or 3 for 15k. It would speed up the ability to eliminate perks or if you want the level 3 you can get buy it but if you just want the level 1 perk because that's all you need.

Like I said I just came up with it like right now so it's not to thought out.

We hear over and over again how imbalanced DBD is. Most people would agree that the game is indeed imbalanced and in need of adjustments. As we have seen with some of the recent "experiments", it is possible for killer to do well at high MMR. The problem is, and what killers are not saying, is that the tactics required to do well at high MMR are not fun. Against good survivors, the killer essentially has no choice but to tunnel and camp to make the game winnable. Camping the hook requires no gameplay from killer, and limits the options survivors have to save; the hooked survivor is obviously miserable as well.

Data: The devs and community continually cite statistics to prove how balanced the game is. The obvious major flaw with this approach is that data cannot tell you everything. A tactic/sweat squad can be beatable, while at the same time not being fun to fight. This isn't surprising, since many aspects of society are increasingly relying on statistics (the NFL, fighting game balance, analytics, etc...). In my opinion, everyone on here, needs to be arguing about high level play is unfun, not that it is imbalanced. Hopefully this will inspire the devs to change things up.

######### killer have been saying this forever. Survivors are getting mad they are camped and tunneled and killers have been saying that at the level you have to camp and tunnel even know it's not fun. The problem is survivors saying that oh if your good you don't need to camp and tunnel which is clearly not true.

So when artist came out everyone played her because brand new killer and survivors means achievement time but after a week I got zero I had one yesterday then nothing else I remember this happening with Twins but they weren't what people expected or whatever but Artist isn't OP or impossible to control so what happened.

It's because she's just like every other anti loop killer but with a couple of neat tricks. The problem is her gameplay boils down to the exact same as any other anti loop killer. Sure you can go for the cool little things she can do but that only lasts so long and alot of it isn't really viable at mid to high.

Bhvr keeps releasing the same killer but with a different skin sure it might seem different but the gameplay just ends up the same.

  • @Marc_123 said:

Because you want all that cool stuff but it is too expensive. So you have to play the game a lot to get BP.

Companies want you to play their game all the time, especially online games. Become invested and buy cosmetics and so on. Business.

And as this game is Steam Platinum it seem to work pretty well.

But the grind has to feel good and once you hit a certain point you play a game and by like 4 things play another buy 4 things. The grind to reward is all off. Plus it's so random you can go from 1-50 and never get any good perks which feels like #########. The system definitely need another revisit.

  • @Marc_123 said:

Go watch his overall stat video and you will see that he tried 3 separate methods - not to mention that several streamers are now also participating in a kill-rate challenge.

I know that doesn't change that he and them camped tunneled and slugged for the moment they could move(not counting tru)

  • @Raptorrotas said:

They should probably make these actions do both at the same time.

Not only that but recently it got to a point where I'm dying with kindred on First hook and the killer's away. And Idk if it's the new amount of players from DBD free but people are super scared to make gens as it seems

I got about 700 hrs I would say about 300 of those are in survivor the other day I had a match where my teammates where absolutely horrible. I'm on ps5 and so was two of them and I checked there game time one had 10hrs and the other had 60. Excuse me I know I'm not a great survivor but there is no way that my skill is equal to someone who's literally just picked up the game.

This is the worst especially when it's the first match. I recently took a semi brake played a few games of survivor here and there. Started playing more decided to jump back onto killer and I got some really good teams with almost full meta and they got a 4 man out and it just killed my vibe to play. It happend 2 more times and I haven't been back to killer.

As a solo stuck on low mmr I don't agree...

As someone who plays 99% solo I would have to agree and then you also get that low mmr spiral where you might be doing great long chases, doing gens, making saves but your teammate suck so you end up dieing and losing mmr and its really not your fault.

That's literally not true - he pointed out stats for games where he used the 'scummy' builds, builds which were considered 'nice' and even perkless and AFK at the start and still maintained positive stats

Go rewatch the video he says that after 30 seconds he did whatever he had to to to win, slug camp, tunnel anything to pull the w.

Honestly I really hope they don't nerf Legion and I hope they take away that stupid mechanic which reduces the power gauge if you use a basic attack yeah I have no clue to this day why that is still a thing

But for real I don't know why it's like that and don't think I've ever heard a reason. It almost like they wanted you ti choose to use your power or m1 which would of been ok imo if you could down with your power.

  • @StarLost said:

So I've been thinking about this recently. I've been trying to play more survivor, primarily to improve my killer game (I'm at that awkward intermediate position where it feels like I'm plateauing a bit) and...man, it really does get tedious (and at times quite...gross) rather fast.

    The major issues are:

    • Far too many survivor perks are really, really dull. It's not that they are weak - far from it. It's that most of them amount to 'you do x faster', 'you have wallhacks', 'you have a second life' etc. Very passive and don't really involve all that much decision making, risk/reward or interactivity. There are a few exceptions, but that feels like the trend.
    • Certain perks that are just so powerful that it feels like not using them is playing the game wrong. CoH, Dead Hard and Iron Will are the first ones that come to mind. I've been complained at in postgame for not running these, and it feels like it artificially restricts build variety.
    • Other survivors are just...nasty. Not so much to each other (although there is a fair amount of sandbagging and general mean-spiritedness in postgame) but the behavior towards the killer...it makes me feel icky by proxy, to the extent where I often give a pity kill. Honestly, this is going to be something that is going to come back and bite the developers eventually - their stance of 'being a jerk in any way short of slurs or actual threats is not only acceptable, but an important part of online gaming' is a decade out of date.
    • Killer variety, even at my likely intermediate MMR (I escape more than I don't, but not by that much) is appalling. If it's not Blight, it's Huntress. Sometimes Nurse, Bubba or Nemesis. I don't mind playing against most of these, but it gets old after a while. I miss seeing Wraiths, Ghostfaces, Slingers, Cenobites, Myers etc. Even the run of Artists seems to have completely dried up.
    • There are a handful of maps that feel fair and balanced (Yamaoka and Midwich are my favorites on both sides) but a lot feel like they either play themselves or are just nightmarishly RNG.
    • DCs...it really shouldn't be the case where at least 2 in every 5 games have someone DCing. It's even more annoying as survivor, as it means that were probably going to lose by dint of someone having a sulk.
    • A handful of addons are just unfun to play against. Tombstone, Video and Ring are the ones that immediately come to mind. I'd love to see these nerfed, and Myers/Pig at least buffed elsewhere to compensate.
    • Sometimes I can go an entire game and barely see the killer, then win. I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done there, but it's pretty meh.

Overall, killer is frustrating, but the survivor role also has it's problems.

I find almost the exact same problems when I went from killer to survivor. I feel like the overall survivor skill ceiling is lower then killer. I feel like you get to that point where the game feels stale faster because you get good at survivor quicker.

I've noticed survivors actually have a lot of really good perks they just don't hold a candle to the meta.

I think playing a whe match and barely seen the killer when your coming from playing the killer and been in every interaction and chase is one of the biggest reasons going from killer to survivor kind of feels boring.

I love how the term survivor rule book is a universally known term in the dbd community yet survivors swear they don't try to tell killers how to play.

That's why I bring Corrupt every time I play Myers. The fact that he hasn't received any buffs at this point is just a total joke but that's another conversation. Because of how putrid his tier 1 is if you don't bring Corrupt the game doesn't actually start for you until 2-3 gens are done. Next I'm going to mess around with Corrupt for the start of the game, Brutal and Enduring for the middle of the game to eat through pallets and shorten chases, and No Way Out for the end to catch them off guard a little and maybe get an extra kill or 2 if I have a bad game.

Tier 1 needs to be buffed significantly or it NEEDS TO GO! That slow movement speed is ridiculous. Without Corrupt you walk across the map and a gens either 99 or close to done, it's stupid.

Unfortunately my p1 level 50 Myers doesn't have corrupt.

In saying that I shouldn't be punished for staying in the game with a camper, who's sucking the life from a game. If someone wants to camp, let them camp. If a survivor wants to tbag, let them do it. If you don't want to be part of a game like that, then leave. Without consequence. If you leave a toxic game, you're not the problem, the behavior that led you to leave is the problem. Everyone's ideas of toxicity is different, and I respect them all. I'm not a bootlicker, and like many others, I shouldn't be forced into being one by getting penalized for leaving. That's my point. Just because not quitting is a rule doesn't make it a good one in every circumstance. I hope that makes my stance clearer.

Thats not how online pvp games work almost every online game has a dc or deserter penalty because it's against the rules and is universally excepted as a d*** move in all online games. So if I think survivors doing gens is toxic I should be able to DC or if a survivor make a flashlight save and I think that's toxic I should be able to DC or I don't like David in my match that's toxic so I should be able to DC? That idea would just ruin ever game every time.

First, it's just an opinion, don't take it personally. And yes, I've spent money on it, so yes, I should have a say in what I do. This is a discussion, not an authoritarian order to tell people how to play.

Yes you said you shouldn't get any consequences for braking set rules by the devs. You do have a say so with in what the devs said you can do in game. The devs have specially said that camping and tunneling are not against the rules so guess what you have to deal with it but guess what is against the rule doing. So if I'm reading this right the killer was doing something that I'd allow by the creators of the game but is toxic and you are doing something completely and clearly against the rules and shouldn't get in trouble.

  • @DyingWish92 said:

I main Myers. I've been playing around with Brutal Strength and Enduring in the same build. I'll take Corrupt and a slow down for the 4th slot something like Pop, Pain Resonance, Ruin, Jolt, Eruption, Oppression ect..

Starting to feel like it's just worth it to put the brute force pallet perks on rather then stack meta perks or slow downs. It's been working decent so far and allows me to catch up quicker when breaking pallets as Myers has no real counter for pallets other then his tier 3 lunge which doesn't always reach. As my mmr goes higher I realize this could be a disaster but it feels good to eat the stun fast and break the pallet quicker.

Can this actual be a simple more viable thing we are overlooking? Clown, Trapper, Pig, Myers ect. I forgot to mention I will sometimes sacrifice the slow down spot for STBFL for quicker recovery. I'm aware of Spirit Fury but survivors can just predrop once they know you have it.

The problem is survivors can still loop you and then drop the pallet and next thing you know 5 gens are done.

I been a Mikey main since I started and if you can get a snow ball going he's pretty good. The problem is getting the snow ball moving if they are good at looping they have enough resources on most maps to safely loop you and finish gens. I was messing around with BS,SF,and endurance and gens just go faster then you can dow .

Just because you bought a game and spent money doesn't give you the authority to decide how to tell people they have to play because guess what other people spent money to so should they get to tell you how to play of does that only work for you?

I personally disagree because I think there are a lot of (older) strong survivor perks worth running. We'll Make It, Inner Strength, Saboteur, For the People, Head On.

The survivor "meta" perks are literally reactionary perks to tunneling and camping. That's it. It's literally, "If I don't put on DS, I'm going to get hard tunneled. If I don't put on Unbreakable, I'm going to get slugged after I get tunneled because the killer thinks I have DS and is committed to tunneling me, but not brave enough to follow through with their scummy tactics. If I don't bring BT and someone gets camped, I won't be able to save them.

If the campy/tunneling meta didn't exist, no one would run any of those perks because they would be useless outside of those situations. I personally don't run any of them except BT to save people (My main survivor has Saboteur, We'll Make It, For the People, and BT). I'm good for saving other people but I get tunneled and slugged alot because I don't run DS or Unbreakable and I live with it, but after so long, many survivors just say "screw it", tunnel me and see what happens.

Ds is more at the bottom of the meta and BT is ran because you can get a free unhook with it. UB was meta only in combo with DS. DH has nothing to do with slugging or camping or tunneling and is meta as well as CoH. The reason thes perks are meta is because they counter effective killer strategies and if those strategies don't happen you can still get value out of the perk.

  • @NOEDENJOYER said:

This perk isn't 100% an anti-tunnel perk yet.

The amount of times I've been stunned by this perk because I've hooked two people within a minute is staggering. If I'm chasing, downing and hooking another survivor, you DO NOT deserve to keep your Decisive Strike active even if you decided to AFK for a minute. It needs to be deactivated the second another survivor is hooked. Because, in any scenario where someone else is hooked, you are not being tunnelled and as such, do not deserve to keep your minute of invincibility.

DS as a whole I'd fine as it is. Sure it can be problematic during end game or if used as a weapon but I really don't see it under those situations to often.

It does need to deactivate when blessing and opening gates imo.

Close the Chat - and don´t read it. It is also only on PC.

This is simple - works immediately - and the hate is gone.

That doesn't fix the problem that these people are going unpunished which promotes them to keep doing it. I mean why not if your not going to have ant consequences why stop telling people to 9ff themselves or that they are a whatever racial slur. What if that person is having a bad time and just trying to enjoy a game they like and they are told some stuff that sets them over the edge. But it's OK because you could of just ignored it.

No, because there are more new players and people who have barely played the game. It skews way more towards the lower end than the higher end.

What where is this information coming from? When the old rank system was up in the white and yellow ranks it took forever to find a match because there wasn't anyone down in those ranks and unless all of a sudden something changes there's really not that many new player coming in. You have no proof that there are more new player than people that have played for a while. Your just saying stuff to try and prove your point you have no proof and any you are trying to bring up is out of context.

    "Meaningful nerfs"

The Artist changes barely if at all affected her viability, her changes only affected her at lower level of play where people would continue to loop her even if she placed a crow

The Plague being slowed down even more when charging up her power and then not even reaching 115% anymore is an actual meaningful change, the visual of being fully infected as well used to be a lot more blinding for Survivors and reduced their vision quite heavily. And the only compensation buff she received was a 15 second increase to Corrupt Purge. Don't get me wrong, thats a pretty nice change but that movement speed nerf definitely removed some of her viability at loops.

Just because it only effects low levels doesn't mean it was meaningless it brought up her skill floor that sounds pretty meaningful. Don't get me wrong I personally don't like the artist but that's because her gameplay is boring imo. She's a basic anti loop killer with some map knowledge.

Those nerf completely removed her from any kind of viability and no one played her because she felt really bad to play.

That's for all players, including brand new babies. Not the average - high skill level.

It's all player your right new, high level and mid thats how average works they balance out to make an average. How do you assume the average player is high skill level?

Well there's a lot of evidence that shows the average kill rate is pretty high. As high as 75% for Freddy even.

    No

So the game is killer sided if you're a skilled player trying to win.

Yeah if you way above the AVERAGE killer skill and have a game knowledge and instinct beyond the AVERAGE killer and use all the tactics that the AVERAGE killer doesn't use then yeah its a tad bit killer sided. It's a good thing that behavior has said that they want to balance for the AVERAGE player.

I wonder if the narrative on the forums will ever change from killer's being oppressed. People like Otz and Scott Jund are finally admitting it because there is just so little evidence on the contrary.

Are we not going to talk about how he did it. He had to do all the most scummy and unfun tactics each game. So yeah if you have 7k hours and camp to second stage slug tunnel and make the game as fun on both sides as possible its killer sided.
