I mentioned this in another post. People who DC don't care about de-pipping. So having a player de-pip upon disconnecting won't matter. Those same players will also just kill themselves on hook to escape a game.

What I suggest the devs should actually do to combat people who DC and even as a bonus combat against the players who purposely depip to go against low rank players they should never be facing just to have an easier game, is this; If you disconnect, or purposely leave a game early via suicide on hook, you should safety pip, that way you cant derank yourself to where you dont belong. But instead of a queue timer, they need to implement a Blood Point Gain penalty timer.

For example, you leave one game, you have to play one game in full without any blood point gains. You continue to leave early, or suicide, the penalty just extends. People don't care about pips, they don't care about fairness, all they want and care about is their blood points. Remove that from them and I bet you a LOT less people will be disconnecting or killing themselves on hook.

And like I said, as a bonus this will also combat players who purposely derank to try and bully newer players. They wont depip, and they wont be gaining any blood points. It will keep everyone exactly where they belong skill wise.

This is brilliant. I love it.

Yes, it is. If multiple people are playing and some win but some lose it is competitive. Stop trying to use 'Its just casual' as an excuse to bully people into doing what you want. You are being entitled.

I'm a survivor main because I dont think camping is an issue but should be punished if it's not after all gens are done? The above comment decides to give up, camping straight away will not help you get better, if you're camping when no one is near you arent doing anything or improving. My suggestion punishes killers that just sit at a hook even if no one is there, that shouldn't be rewarded lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2394543#Comment_2394543

It really is small, unless you're doing nothing but camping or "proxy" camping as people say, once again though it's one category and why should campers be rewarded?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2394486#Comment_2394486

If everyone comes to help sure, but if you're camping that early then it's an issue on your gen and means they're off gens, if it's a 1 or two getting the save then its usually a trade.

K man. I got it; you won't hear any facts that do not support your hypothesis. Know that if BHVR punishes camping, there will be no Killers. That's all; like it or not, punish playing to win > people stop playing > dead game.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2394504#Comment_2394504

Well like I said if no survivor is near then you get punished (except after all gens are done then its fine) honestly you loose such little points for camping, you only lose alot of points if no one trades etc. Camping atm only reduces a small amount of points from 1 category.

You are very wrong. it's not 'small' at all, especially on tiny maps where you can get the penalty while just patrolling on an upper floor.

EDIT: In fact the existence of any penalty is unfair. Camping should be 'punished' by survivors getting saves or smashing gens and escaping. But that's not what they do and I know it because I run multiple detection perks and play Nemesis and Scratched Mirror Myers a lot. Survivors 'hide' nearby, not doing gens, waiting for the save. At times I've watched my crows and zombies just chase and BOOM non-stop near a hook. Survivors do not try to do gens when someone is hooked more often than not.

Sorry I have to say you're completely wrong. Anyone who Camps, Tunnels, Slugs can't play the game and you need to learn to take an L. Stop with the garbage plays again I also play Killer but as I said I don't play this way and I end up double pipping or almost double pipping.

You're playing easy mode. But I already saw that you don't believe that and refuse to hear it, so that's all I'll say about it.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Tunneling is fine whenever the player thinks it is to their advantage. Sure, it sucks as a survivor, I hate it when I get tunneled, but the truth is, it is more of a problem with my lack of ability than it is with the killer. No one wants to admit this, but only bad or entitled players complain about tunneling.

Majority of people say that the chase and interacting with the killer is the most fun part, so naturally, tunneling shouldn't be an issue. The problem arises when people think that the killer should give them a chance to regroup, though they'd never do the same for the killer. Rather than taking responsibility for their or their teammates incapability, they usually resort to attacking the killer player for not playing in a way that they want them to play.

Also, it is mandatory to tunnel every little turd who does their best to tank a hit with Borrowed Time when it is obvious the killer is going for the unhooker.

Listen to this wisdom. This person gets it. This is the truth no one wants to admit.

  • So...you want 'fun'. Which to you means 'Killers don't try to win'?

    No. That's insanely entitled.

  • I have a solution for camping: make it so a Survivor, in the first hook phase, cannot be unhooked. No unhooky til phase 2. That gives their teammates time to do gens and the Killer reason to leave and start a new chase. Alternately, this could be a perk but baseline would be better.

    @unclefood87 said:

Killers that camp aren’t generally skilled enough to get kills in any legitimate fashion.

Entirely untrue. This is an insult Survivor mains sling to make themselves feel better and is not reflective of reality. Sometimes you must camp to have any chance at all regardless of your skill and people who don't actually play Killer don't understand that.

    @Troman said:

Camping is a general problem, it makes games unfun for both sides.

Camping comes from the design of the hooking system: you need to hook a survivor a second time to start the struggle phase and a third time to kill him. Remove the second hook stage and let survivors die on the hook as soon as their time on the hook runs out. Killer can hook a survivor as many times as needed, survivors can be unhooked as many times as needed. The time on the hook before a survivor dies will have to be tweaked.

This will remove camping entirely, but will still allow the killers to camp a survivor when exit gates are open or to secure the last possible kill, which are the only situation when camping can be called a legit strategy.

Your 'fix' would make it so Survivors could just hook trade while slowly working gens; killers would have no way to win at all. Do you play Killer? Seriously, I want to know. Because I think if you did you wouldn't have suggested this silly idea.

    @Power_Guy said:

JFC. Camping should never be punished. That's the suggestion of people who just want to spite Killers, not balance the game.

Just give the camped Survivor BP for being camped, and make more Killer perks that encourage leaving the hook. Nothing else.

'Punishments' are unneeded and every one suggested (from slow/stop the timer, to stop gaining BP, to giving the Survivor the Killer's BP, to making the Killer blind, or move slower, or attack slower) are just spite-filled, bad ideas.

Agreed. Some people just can't stand losing or not having 'fun' for even a single moment.

    @EntitySpawn said:

No camping isn't a problem, it just need to be more heavily punished especially when no survivors are near the hooked player. Yes some killer are better at camping but all killers can camp regardless or power or perks. Punish it and it wont be as common

How much more punishment do you want? I already get points taken off my score even when I'm not camping because of small maps or ######### Survivors lurking around the hook, staying just far enough away that I have to give one of them the save if I try to chase. Points toward a pip that I deserve, but lose because they wanna be immersed and crouch nearby then scream 'camper!' which they would've had no idea about if they weren't crouching nearby watching me.

I encounter this more and more lately. All these hits through a pallet, hits through window and pallet vaults, hits from a great distance, misdirected hits which should have missed but still hit even though they were directed to the opposite side. I guess more and more killers start finding out that having a high ping as the Killer in this game is beneficial due to how the netcode and hit validation works right now, and they deliberately increase their latency. I have to pre-drop pallets now and just shift+w instead of looping, because of how inconsistent this all gets. I don't even remember the last time I stunned the Killer with a pallet and WAS NOT HIT right after that!

Is there any way to counter this, other than DCing on the first BS hit? Are BHVR even going to do something about it? When every killer starts using ways to get their pings to 1000+, playing a survivor will become impossible.

The hits aren't BS, you're just playing badly. Survivors have been blaming mechanics since DBD launched; for a while it was blamed on Killer hosting the game, then that got fixed and they blamed dedicated servers. It's neither of those things - they just aren't as good as they think.

The match was held more than A HOUR.

If that's not holding hostage, I don't know what it is.

All you had to do was do gens or bleed out. It wasn't held hostage; you were just trying to win and failed.

  • Playing the game should not be cause for DC's and the fact that you are giving people who do it a pass tells me you have nothing to say that's worth hearing. Good day.

It at least needs some tweaking. It can feel very unfair.

Win chases. you aren't meant to keep the Killer busy at a loop indefinitely; that'd make winning actually impossible for the majority of Killers. Be reasonable, dude.

  • Don't have one. Never lean on a perk or build to get you victory and you'll never become predictable or find yourself screwed if that perk gets nerfed.

  • @ringwinning said:

How are all y'all who are done with the grind ... done with the grind? Like how did you optimize your bloodwebs or your BP gain or whatever you did to finish it so fast?

Play Killer. Feed BP to your Killers and survivors, especially during events. Done. After that, you just grind out new perks as they release.

  • @EldritchElise87 said:

If anything it should have a slightly longer distance but remove iframes. If you couldn't DH into walls and dropped pallets to just phase through a hit it would feel a lot more fair from the killer side, and mean the survivor has to have space in front of them to actually dodge the hit.

Agree. I don't mind the distance, and it could have more, but just ignoring my well-timed attack when I had you cornered by phasing through it just feels unfair.

  • Oh look. More 'Trying is bad, mmkay?'

The fact that effort is derided and so many people can't enjoy anything challenging is very, very sad.

  • It's almost like only playing one side isn't intended.

I have all my Killers nearly maxed out and one survivor, but even most survivors are at least P1 and I barely play survivor. I have 3,900 hours logged - mostly Killer.

Play Killer, people. You'll be nicer to your Killers if you do and make better BP. You might even understand why Killers get more after you have to work for your points instead of leaning on 3 other people and four perks to carry you to victory.

  • @IronKnight55 said:

I agree. So many killers only down me because of bloodlust. It can certainly feel unfair at times. A lot of killers won't break pallets and will just wait for bloodlust to kick in to get the down.

So they're wasting time in exchange for forcing you to stay in one place? Seems a fair trade to me.

  • @Tostapane said:

Title. You know, it's funny to see how people have double standards in this game... If a survivor finish a generator under the killer's nose at all costs it's considered a good play but if a killer will efficiently tunnel a survivor until his death it's considered toxic and bad play... So I'll ask you: why playing "fair" if people won't do the same for you? Usually You gave them a "fair" match and in exchange they will harass you for no reasons... Tell me what you think about it, I'm genuinely curious...

There is no point. Pound them into the dirt, win at all costs and ignore the whining. It's more fun that way.

  • Oppression + Dying Light + Eruption + either Surge or Pop. The perfect gen slowdown build that is not subject to being destroyed by a survivor getting lucky and finding your totem.

  • Sucks for the people crashing but the game was basically unplayable anyway with every survivor who felt like they were even slightly challenged just DC'ing.

  • You can say that all you like. Won't change the facts presented. Survivors outnumber Killers and I have more games with two to four disconnects than games without. Whereas when I play Survivor they are so rare i can count the total across my entire time playing on one hand.

From everything you just said it comes down to you're playing him wrong. Everybody thinks "he takes 3 hits with tentacle so I no use tentacle." Its a stupid ideology and its what's making so many of you call him weak, you infect them and half the time they will never use a syringe because everybody thinks "it doesn't have any bad effects so why get rid of it." If they're a team that does use syringes a lot then they burn through them too fast if you're effective at infecting survivors every chance you get. Just like you said "its no wonder everyone uses m1" they're using him wrong and that's why you guys think he's weak. As for map mobility, who cares if they leave before you get there? Either they leave and then gen regresses so they wasted their time or they're hiding nearby and you don't have the skill to know where to look so you're simply missing them. Info is strong on any killer, fast map mobility isn't a necessity if you can apply your pressure correctly. As for doing gens in front of zombies? No you're not, either you're straight lying and you move off gens when they come or you're eating free hits from the zombie because "you do gens right in front of them"

This I agree with. Nemesis' zombies getting stuck is a problem I rarely have and people worry too much about tentacle hits, which is why they suck with him. he's not top-tier, but he's mid-tier and decent. Y'all are doing it wrong.

But the grind! The grind is SO TERRIBLE!!

ABOUT DISCONNECTS BANS - DO NOT REPORT

Disconnects are handled by the disconnection penalty system. No further action will be taken on reports.

We know, and that is a problem.

    @unluckycombo said:

It's technically not a legit strategy, but it's already one that's normally punished by the system with temp DC Bans. It's just that DC penalties are currently off. (Plus, DCs lose all of your BP gained that match.)

Tbh tho, I think the system is fine as-is. I personally don't slug for 4k's, and I think that if DC penalties are on there's already enough incentive not to do it.

Just because it doesn't hurt your gameplay doesn't make it fine. Your whole argument here is 'I don't care so its okay'. No, it's not okay. it's cheating and whoever does it is a piece of crap.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

You can't really say tunneling is a counter to shift w. It's something that you do anyway assuming you're in a bad spot. The only way to counter shift w in my experience is to have a high mobility killer, or leave that survivor and hope that the others don't shift w as well.

Fair. Better to say it's the only really reasonable response.

Have you ever played in a trial full of deadzones as... Well, as any killer that has no mobility? Survivors take off early and you just can't catch them in time. And that's most killers, even Hag suffers from it being her main counterplay.

There's no reason for survivors to use loops, that's why the meta is throwing pallets instantly. Because even in a deadzone survivors win. And it's not a problem with survivors speed, it's a problem with the speed of the trial. But it is a problem that absolutely exists and needs to be dealt with before people realise that you can start running before the killer is within lunging distance and waste more than enough time.

This is exactly the situation that made me realize how bad this problem is. getting one of the open maps against a skilled SWF is basically a no-win situation; hell, it was even a map that isn't super favored for either side (Suffocation Pit) that made me realize this. I don't know how the problem can be fixed.

  • 25% extra Bp per SWF would be nice, but i'd rather they address how unfair and unfun SWF is to face by removing all the extra information. IMO survivors should get no hud or free aura reading. ; that'd make it so they had no choice but to actually go visually look to see what's happening and pay attention. Never gonna happen, though; BHVR doesn't care about Killers.

  • Zombies follow noise and will keep moving toward your last known location, stopping only if they no longer detect you upon arrival.

Are we really talking for nerf zombies? Nemesis is already weak killer, zombies are useless so many times.

We're really talking about nerfing zombies, because the game still isn't braindead easy enough for Survivors. This community is hopeless; at this point, BHVR may as well just open the exit gates at the start of the game and skip the whole chasing business so survivors can just do what they want and walk out any time.

I would not recommend noes at all, unless you prefer high stakes end game combat.

I'd recommend oppression, overcharge, eruption and a fourth perk of choice. I preferred using monitor and abuse as my fourth, as my weakness was TR/sneaking up on gens

Other 4th perk options may include dragon's grip, surge, or trail of torment. you may need something passive like lightborn/stridor/bamboozle to cover a weakness

This is close to my build, though I switch out Overcharge and Eruption for Dying Light and Ruin. Layers of gen defense - if/when ruin goes down, you still have oppression and a charged-up dying light to fall back on.

  • The key is to not just stand in place watching a hook; you wanna hook intelligently. Hook in places that you have either clear sightlines into or a way to block off and make hazardous. Hag, Nemesis and Trapper are all good at that. Pyramid Head can do it too with a little Perk assistance. You wanna also try to hook in the center of as many gens as possible, that way you can patrol a large area and still be chasing others while guarding the hook. Again, Nemesis excels at this.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2371208#Comment_2371208

If you have 2 people hooked close together then yes camping is a good idea. If I got 2 people in the basement with 3-4 gens left, I ain't leaving. I'm not against the idea of camping. I wipe my ass with the survivor's rule book for killers. If it is in the killer's best interest then go for it. However it's not always such a good idea. If you face camp the very first person you hook that will get you a lot of kills against potato survivors. Once you start facing survivor's with brains in their heads, they know to leave that person on the hook and do gens.

Hasn't happened yet. Every now and again they'll leave a random to die, but nine times out of ten the rush in to the rescue.

Are you always going to play this style or do you plan to evolve your game play?

I did it. It wasn't boring. Still plenty of action with hook skirmishes happening.

  • I still love this map. Sorry, but I love it. Indoor maps are my jam and this is the BEST one.

Camping only works if survivors rush the hook or stop doing gens. It was never a sure win tactic. If that were true then virtually every killer would play that way.

It is when you do it right. Did you know it's possible to camp TWO hooked survivors, 4 gens AND a totem all at once? It's true; I do it semi-frequently. If you camp skillfully, you can ensure someone stays on the hook while defending.

Well, considering that they've managed to do nearly nothing right in five years? I'd say that all of us probably know better. But hey, believe what you want. It's neither of those things; it's because people think windows are walls and overestimate their skill.

Killers like those too, Slowdown makes it possible to do that. I guess you spun it as "if i want this challenge" then you missed the point, the point is theres no other games like this to play whether you like it challenging or you like it casual. Which still supports that this game needs a casual mode because it wouldnt take away from the ranked, just would create a casual option.

Splitting the playerbase would just have everyone move to whichever mode had the better queues. But you believe what you want.

You keep saying go play another game but the thing is that dbd is such a one of a kind game you don't have the option to just find another. There's knockoffs and similar but nothing quite with the same style of play like this. Those other games while still not being "chill" do have a higher rate of being able to relax and not facing tryhards. Its not meant to be perfect its meant to give a higher likelihood of less sweats. Your only good argument has been about not splitting the player base too much.

Okay, let me turn this argument around on you: DbD is a one of a kind game; nowhere else will I find the asymmetrical horror movie killer experience like this. I don't have the option to just find another. If I want to play iconic horror monsters chasing down survivors in a challenging gameplay environment, I have to play DbD.

For the most part I do still enjoy the game. I just think most of the new content like killers/maps added in the last year just aren't really fun to play on or against. It feels like they're out of ideas and just phoning it in.

I don't DC as killer ever but if I get Hawkins or something against some insecure spirit with stacked slowdown I'm just going to boot up another game for the day.

So you don't like half the content in the game. that means you don't like the game and are ignoring the parts you don't like, regardless of how it affects others.
