I love RPD. Don't get the hate for it from everyone else.

To be honest, from a developer stand point, this is a massive void where meaningful perks of this type could be added to the game. There are no survivor anti-loop perk counters in the game. Its a perfect place to add meaningful perks into the game for survivors, to counter something that doesn't have counters yet.
Have you thought any of this through from anything but a Survivor point of view? Do you even play Killer? I don't believe so, because if you had done either of those things you would have never put forth this idea. You want perks to counter a counter, which happens to be the only thing that makes Killers unique and would in fact completely cripple some Killers like Nurse, Hag and Deathslinger?
This is the kind of crap that makes Killer mains think the Survivor playerbase is just entitled. Zero comprehension of how the other side actually works.
-
@Munqaxus said:
Then there needs to be meaningful skill based interactions outside of looping. When you go against the Nurse, Pyramid Head, Nemesis and The Artist, the best strategy is to hold "w" and run to the furthest corner away from your teammates and pre-throw pallets. It's almost the same for The Doctor and Deathslinger, although you can somewhat loop them.
Survivors only have 1 thing they can do, that's loop. Unless another mechanic is added, then for survivor gameplay to be interactive, then killers have to conform to looping.
I would say add perks that temporarily prevent powers from passing through walls. Maybe a perk that prevents powers from passing through walls and pallets in 32 meters for 30 seconds, when you vault a window. Or a perk that has tokens and when you activate a token, powers can't pass through walls and pallets.
Then survivors have meaningful interactions with those type of killers.
None of this is meaningful interaction, it's just yet another way for Survivors to control when and how Killers can use their powers. No; get better.

So, as long as you can't effectively tunnel, camp and slug with the only tools the Developers gave survivors, then your going to camp, tunnel and slug. Doesn't that seem kind of redundant to you.
As long as I can't win by playing nice, I'll play mean. I want to have fun and my fun comes from winning.
-
No. That'd make flashlights unbearable and Lightborn a hard requirement to even play Killer. Killers being able to track you by sound while blinded is a feature, not a bug.
-
As long as DS, BT and Dead Hard exist in their current form I will play nothing but Nurse and tunnel/camp/slug shamelessly. Because they're effective tactics. You want Killers to stop tunneling? Make other strategies viable. Until then, the first time someone DS's me or bodyblocks me with BT, I immediately start making the game unfun for the survivors in that match.

You are right, but I think if you got a lobby w/o a name you would at least know they were a streamer. So Streamers would still get lobby dodged. But currently it is massively unfair to survivors which far outnumber all streamers.
Who dodges streamers? They're even easier to beat than most people because they're always cocky and their SWF's go to extreme lengths to protect them.

Actually the different will be the situation the tunnelling / campers for whole game will suffer because if they only like the easily beat then they won't get many matches because often easily beat people quit or change teams, thus they will not get fast que times if anything make it far worse for themselves, but it also wasn't a thing to not be matched with the person over someone else just a more likely chance you will see them again, obviously this setting resets every 3 months, making it fix itself, as well if they data mine matches by doing this they can find the reason it was more favorable for that specific group, was the killer unable to do anything? If so what occurred and how do you improve the killers QL or the survivors. But this is a lot that I don't think BHVR is actually capable of yet.
This is exactly what I said. People will avoid killers that can beat them. Tunneling and camping are game tactics which exist for a reason; survivors hate these tactics because they're effective. You have reinforced my point against adding blocklists; thanks.
-
@ZephanUnbound said:
Does anyone else understand it? Why quit, get no points for a match, and take a 5 minute matchmaking ban, just because you're unhappy that a killer downed you a little quicker than you had hoped, or because the killer tunneled you or is camping your hook, or because a killer is using a perk that negated your dead hard, or whatever? Even if you're know you're going to be tunneled and hook camped until your death, why quit, it's actually faster to wait for the death on hook, helping your team get some gens done for free in the process, and then get another match, than it is to quit and take a 5 minute matchmaking ban. I just don't get it.
I just leave when the match isn't fun anymore. Garbage map, annoying survivors, a bajillion pallets and 3 strong tiles chained? Leave Game. Survivors do it all the time and nothing has been done to stop them, so I do too. Don't care about the matchmaking lock, I'll just go play something else until it runs out whether that's 3 minutes or 3 hours.

Piece of paper, but yeah giving the killers name would be fair, but I believe only a I want to be matched up more likely will be better eventually the trash will be avoided by liking others more and more.
And this will result in people 'liking' killers who they beat easily. No, bad idea for bad players.

I do understand that it could cause problems, but maybe it could be limited. You can block 10 players, or something. But really if they would just show the killer names in the lobby just like the killer gets to see survivor names, that would be enough. I could avoid the really egregious folks and get on with less toxic matches.
10 players is enough to block out the ten best Killers in your region and guarantee wins against scrubs. No block list.

Are they?
Nope. I actually hate chases a lot and try to end them quickly. Every time I get delayed at a pallet over and over and over again or some BS jungle gym on Coldwind against survivors all using no-skill Dead hard and Decisive Strike my eyes glaze over and I have to fight the urge to leave the game.

Get your cardio on, then play the game for fun.
I hate it when people say this crap. Losing isn't fun, period. Losing when you never had a chance is even less fun. That BS cope 'hurr hurr it's just a game' doesn't change the fact that games should be fun and DbD isn't.
-
Yeah. I've just kinda given up every game today, even as Nurse. She's miserable to play without fatigue reduction addons and every other Killer is lame, slow and neutered. Survivors always get what they want and Killers nerfed into oblivion, which sucks all the fun out of the game. Literally not one Killer doesn't have some insane drawback that makes using their power actually a detriment.
-
I just hit leave game as soon as Survivors start their crap. if they want to win that badly, I'll let them. This game is Survivor-sided as hell and all the Killers are so badly nerfed that they're not even fun. Sweating for one kill is miserable.

Personally on a good day i don't really care what they do as long as 3 gens don't pop in like first chase. Now on a bad day i might roll my eyes and just try to play normally. But if they force ds onto me i won't say if were down to the last 2 gens and im given the opportunity to tunnel the annoyance let them go. What can i say i aint perfect lol. Hbu?
Nope. I just return the favor and make them miserable; every game, I am always prepared for the survivors to be a misery squad and I build accordingly. if I'm wrong, I play normally. if not...i'm prepared.

Nice ASSumption! But not true.
It was a joke with a heavy dose of hyperbole, but not that far from the truth either. I just today had a game where I 4K'ed a group on Badham as Nurse and somehow got accused of camping when all four survivors would not stop hook rushing or lurking near the hook, which I knew they were doing because I run Nurse's calling and Spies from the Shadows on my Nurse at all times. They raged and called me all sorts of nasty things for 'camping' when I knew where all four of them were and knew they weren't doing gens. And that isn't an uncommon occurrence; Survivors just hate to lose, period.

They probably want you to only play perkless, trapless trapper who never presses M1 or hooks anyone and leads the Survivors to all the gens while letting them drop pallets and click their flashlights.

Yeah right, if I 2 hook all 4 good survivors (8 hooks total) and everyone escapes on death hook while I'm playing a low tier killer without camping, tunneling, slugging and without a slowdown build then I'm a bad killer.
And if I facecamp, tunnel, slug and 1-hook 4 bad survivors while playing top tier killers with a full slowdown build then I'm a good killer.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Okay. What did I miss? 2 hooking 4 survivors is a loss. You are bad and you promote badness.

Hooking 2 people is not a win. It's a loss, definitively. Don't care how you try to spin it, it means you played badly and you are the reason Survivors expect easy games and the rest of us can't get a competitive match.

@Yamaoka said:
Neither kills nor escapes is a good measure of skill.
You can be a good killer and get 0 kills because you played fair with no camp, tunnel and slug and no slowdown perks.
You can be a trash killer and get 4 kills because you camped, tunneled and slugged at 5 gens with every slowdown perk in the game.
If you got 0 kills, you're not a good Killer.

"What is a 'sweaty' game?"
I consider a game sweaty if i need to give it my all, strategically and mentally. By mentally i mean just high level play where you are always thinking about your choices, for example "if i do x i could give up y but then z will happen", since i play video game to relax, the only thing i want is a permanent need to strategise to even hope to get satisfactory results.
"Why even play if you aren't going to try?"
In my case, it's because i value having fun above going all out every time and "winning". And i know for a fact that, if i always do my best and try to win regardless of how i feel, i will burn out in no time because that's not how i want to play every time. So to avoid that i always have some killer where i only do dumb stuff to still take time and enjoy the game. I do enjoy a "sweaty" match from time to time, but i don't want it to always be that way.
"I don't get you people."
From my point of view, i could ask you the same thing, why would you try every game even if it means not enjoying your time playing it? Just because you like playing a certain way doesn't mean everybody does too. But we still need to respect each others opinion. We purposefully let you get a win, it's not like we just facecamp you to get 1 kill every time.
So you want fun in a competitive game without effort, which for you means winning but not actually being challenged.
Lol.

Debatable.
And genrushing is still healthier for the game's playability than camping.
Disagree. Neither is better or worse than the other; the fact is, if you lose to a camper you got thoroughly outplayed; he gambled that your team wouldn't do gens and the survivors made his gamble pay off.
-
What is a 'sweaty' game? Why even play if you aren't going to try? I don't get you people.

I'm stating facts. I do fine on these maps, better than open maps. I tend to play Killers who excel in tight maps with narrow corridors - Nemesis, Trapper, Plague, Leatherface.

Boon totems are definitely OP. Too big of a radius, too strong and impossible to remove permanently. They need a hard nerfing.

Yes, it is. Not screwing up is a low bar. It's just 'don't do this'. Victory should require correct action, not just avoiding taking action.

Yes I agree, camping an annoying survivor out is fun, but I did not talk about that, I spoke about the ones who only camp because they cannot play the game.
Looking at the post on here, I fear the game is on it's way to dying anyway, with killers crying about boon totems, perks, it being survivor sided. Then when people say anything about camping, then you see the responses that are one here.
RIP Dead by Daylight. It was nice knowing you.
You're making excuses. the simple fact is tactics that work will be used. Survivors loop because it works, for example. Stop being biased.

The big difference is that Killers still get to do something when survivors are doing their objective. When a survivor is face-camped, they can't do anything. So it doesn't work both ways.
Then play Killer. Easy fix.

So I've been playing DBD since the Of Flesh and Mud Chapter. I've loved the game from then till now. With some of the decisions the devs have made and the overall state of the game just feel like a sweat feast. It no longer fun to play and I've been gravitating to other games for the past few months. I wet through collage playing this game finding it a way to wind down and have fun, I've since graduated and have moved on to a full time job 40 hours a week, working in the labor force. But I've found that DBD doesn't do it for me anymore. Its more frustrating then it is fun and relaxing. Most games I don't want to go all try hard playing killer, (my favorite side) and just go all no mercy. By making sure to bring the strongest addons, the same old strong perks, and using some tactics that most survivors hate. I enjoy mixing things up with odd builds. But with the new SBMM (Skilled Based Match Making) its just made the game boring and toxic, seeing the same few survivor perks gets old fast. I'm thinking about walking away from it. Am I the only one feeling this way?
Hadn't played in a month til today. Still the same old same old: 4x DS, 4x BT, Adrenaline loop and repeat. Boring. Guess i'll try again in a few more months.

So you played 40 rounds of killer, starting at what... R20? This reminds me of surv-mains who will tell you they play "both sides", but only play killer against potatoes at low ranks, claiming all killers are viable, no gen defense is needed (with NOED, lol) and killer is too easy. And ofc they never tunnel and camp. Thing is, most of them aren't even lying... they just don't know how bad the foundation of the game is against good survs.
This. You played against scrubs and played nice. Of course it was sunshine and rainbows; you were no challenge against people who expected to lose. Play for real and then see what happens. And exclude games that are all Console players; they literally cannot communicate with you.

How many people actually defend the basement? Most survivors bring their own gear in a lot of matches so you'd mostly be wasting time trying to defend it.
My build disagrees. I run Hoarder and Territorial Imperative on Nemesis a LOT and both give me basement notifs several times a game. I've even found people hiding down there, using it as a 'headquarters' more than once to hide all their items in a corner and avoid Franklins.

Freddy is the strongest and most oppressive licensed killer atm. Followed by PH from his counter loop ability, followed by Pig for stall and counter loops, followed by Leatherface>Demogorgon>Ghostface>Myers>Nemesis. Nemesis being the bottom of the barrel since in order to get a 4k on him you need 12 hooks, and 32 hits to 4k assuming everyone heals back to full, instead of 12 hooks and 24 hits like every other killer on the roster. Literally the worst killer in the game for that alone, can't be stated enough.
That's now how Nemesis works in practice like at all. If you think it is, you aren't using him correctly. He is the best 'trap' Killer in the game and his map pressure is second to none. TRY doing a gen against a gen slowdown Nemesis who isn't braindead.

Are you joking? Listen, I'm a bubba main and a Pyramid main, and I know for a fact that Pyramid is better in all ways, even if as Bubba you try to use all the camping potential possible.
Disagree. Pyramid Head is great if you are a god at hitting his ranged attack and putting down torment trails that can't be easily avoided, but pound for pound i'd put Bubba and Nemesis ahead of him. Bubba forces bully squads to play defensively and wastes less time getting downs, while Nemesis turns every loop into an eventual loss for the survivor if they don't leave and go somewhere else due to zombies eventually showing up, especially if you use zombie speed and detection addons. Plus he can punish greedy pallet usage like nobody else. Bubba can likewise chew through pallets and shorten loops and chases massively.

You do that you can bet your last dollar I will make sure you don't exit. I'll let everyone else go just to teach you a lesson.
Also, this. All of this. Don't get found, don't get caught, don't get cocky. Put some effort into actually giving the Killer the respect they deserve as a dangerous opponent or you can't complain.

That was feedback. All of what you proposed is a bad idea; some of it is actually broken and abusable (spawning additional zombies at-will). He does not need more zombies. His tentacle is fine, people just focus too much on using it to the exclusion of all else. And: Those of us who actually play Nemesis are doing just fine and having fun. The rest aren't because they refuse to learn.

But trust me zombies are actually doing a lot and I can say that on indoor maps they tend to be busted and frustating to go against.
I agree. I don't get the complaints, either. The zombies are phenomenal; it's probably because people just don't understand what they do and how they work and lean too heavily on the whip and focusing on infection level.
