Bad actions shouldn't award BP
Title, examples:
Pallet stunning a killer after being hit shouldn't reward 1k BP
Selfcare shouldn't award BP on skillchecks
Trading hooks should award safe unhook BP
Things like these which dont promote efficient or better gameplay shouldn't be awarding BP. Wasting pallets and being rewarded shouldn't happen.
I feel the games to generous and actually rewards bad plays more than good ones
Comments
Survivors already have a hard time getting bps compared to killers, and it’s not like this affects killer gameplay anyway, so this is just a bad take overall
Ah, yes, the "other survivors shouldn't get points if they don't play the way I want them to" take.
No.
People are allowed to use self-care. Sometimes hook trading is the only option and it's honestly a genuinely altruistic thing as opposed to letting you go straight back up or onto second stage. Getting hit through pallets is latency half the time.
Hell no. Also hook trading isnt a safe unhook.
Killer could easily leave you on the ground.
I didnt really see this as a survivor vs killer thing. While some of the examples might be abit dumb, I know I would hate to findout that every pallet on the map has been used up by someone who ran to one after another just to camp them and throw them down. The idea that someone who camps a pallet gets the same amount of BPs as someone who makes that pallet last is kind of annoying.
Would be nice to see alternative ways to earn BPs that doesnt promote farming your teammates or wasting as many resources on the map as humanly possible before your teammates have a chance to use them. Maybe a palletstun would be worth more points depending on how long you've been in a chase, this way the guy who makes 1 pallet last 5 minutes would get more BPs than the guy who chucked 5 pallets in 1 minute.
ı kinda agre and kinda not some survivors literally farming people and doing sumb stuff to killers adventage yeah they shoudn't get awarded but other than that ı don't see a problem
All actions that progress the match in any way should award BP. If anyting there should be more of them, not less.
Your punishment for doing dumb stuff is losing early = not having enough time to fully max out BP cathegories.
The examples they listed were all how survivors get points, and survivors have a harder time getting points in general, so I was moreso addressing that, not trying to make surv vs killer thing.
There are ways to encourage better gameplay without punishment (bbq encouraging not hook camping with auras, BT encouraging more altruism, etc)
However I do agree with your idea of alternative ways to get bps.
Maybe if people played better people could get more bp. If someone wastes all you resources how is someone else gonna put up a chase. And no this doesnt affect killers, this isn't about that. It's about how bad survivors get rewarded more than good players. Wasting pallets was the prime example where the survivor gets 1k BP, for wasting a pallet, wasting their sprint burst and making it harder on other survivors. It's the worst possible thing they can do yet still get BP and small points in chaser due to the stun.
Once again this isn't about stopping people getting bps for playing well, just stops people playing bad and being rewarded. So what 2k BP for not wasting a pallet? You see it's an issue when people are happy to play bad as it gives them more points.. it's why solo is rough
Players can't exactly waste all the pallets on the map trading a hit for a stun. Typically you can only do this 3 times before you die.
Besides, that's hardly the worst thing your teammates can do. Blame Rift challenges.
Can we please stop with this BP reduction spite suggestions.
Its pointless to implement while also being both petty and spiteful.
Other people's BP gains shouldn't matter to you as they have no effect on you.
Ah yes, how we could make people earn less BP post, thats a new low
What's being accomplished here? BP doesn't effect anything and none of the example actions are even bad.
Self-care isn't always ideal but it does have it's use and skillchecks for every action award BP.
Getting hit and then getting a pallet stun, well sometimes you get screwed over by server latency. A lot of the time the survivor already commits to the pallet throw and then get hit before they throw it.
Hook trading does have a use. It can be better to unhook someone before they go to the next hook state and go on the hook yourself then to just let them move on to the next hook state.
Unfortunately atm, some of the ways survivors are awarded BPs encourages bad plays. You'll have survivors bumrush an unhook so they can get those juicy points before teammates. As long as you have BT, the unhooked survivor is bound to survived long enough for that "safe unhook" bonus to pop up, even if you unhook right infront of the killer and they get tunneled down.
Would be nice to see actual smart plays getting more BPs. Maybe for unhooks, you'd score more points if the target avoids being hit (even with BT) or avoids entering chase for X seconds after unhook. This could promote ppl waiting for the killer to walk away before attempting an unhook so the rescued survivor has a chance to actually recover. If getting BPs is your objective, instant-unhooking wouldnt be the most rewarding way to gain them.
Im just spitballing here... You're welcome to throw in afew thoughts.
First they have to fix damn servers.
So many times i have stupid hits. Because killer had high ping.
The game is too generous to the side where it's nearly impossible to score the max 32,000? Lol.
Just say what you mean and ######### about survivors not playing the way you want and how when you play survivor it's all about you like a normal person instead of this bizarre faux concern over how survivor bp works.
For five years survivors have been blaming hits on anything but their skill or lack thereof. First it was because the Killer was hosting so they gave us dedicated servers and then it was because the dedicated servers were bad. It's neither of those things; it's because people think windows are walls and overestimate their skill.
I am playing both roles, most times killer. What are you talking about lol?
Which means absolutely nothing and makes the facts I stated no less true. People are bad and want something to blame. That's why no fix will ever satisfy them.
No, I'm on about not rewarding bad players. I'll just waste every pallet in the map each time I get hit near one, that's roughly 6 less pallets for you, have fun.
Yeah sure. That's why devs are still trying fix lag hits. Next update is about this.
But you know better than devs right? :d Cyaaaa
Well, considering that they've managed to do nearly nothing right in five years? I'd say that all of us probably know better. But hey, believe what you want. This patch won't fix anything; people will still be complaining about 'lag' and 'unfair hits'. You'll see for yourself and when you do i expect an apology.
I am not saying all hits because of lag but there is so much stupid hits. And i know, they can not fix anything.
There are also Rift challenges that tell Survivors to unhook in the Killers Terror Radius albeit with BT but still that right there is what is promoting hook diving most of the time.
Or challenges like unhook x amount of people and naturally people try to get these done in as few trials as possible. I genuinely blame BHVR for encouraging a lot of these unhealthy behaviors most of the time with the Rift. It's just no bueno
For sure, im not denying that. Thats why I had brought up earlier that stuff like blowing through pallets is currently encouraged by the BP system. A player tossing 5 pallets in 1 minute scores WAY more points than a person who makes 1 pallet last 5 minutes, where it SHOULD be the other way around.
Okay but here is the thing, assuming its not a latency problem, getting hit through a pallet means you dropped it slightly too late to be effective. As far as ways for a survivor to throw a game, I would say thats enormously minor.
Objectively selfcare is the easiest/most reliable way to farm survival points.
Now the fact that the game rewards 'bad' players more than 'good' ones is a design problem, but you aren't addressing it in the right way. There should be more actions that reward 'good' play. e.g.
Thats just two examples, already better than what you proposed.
Did we came to point you all are salty about bp? Grind is already horrible enough
