What's the point of playing fair?
Title. You know, it's funny to see how people have double standards in this game... If a survivor finish a generator under the killer's nose at all costs it's considered a good play but if a killer will efficiently tunnel a survivor until his death it's considered toxic and bad play... So I'll ask you: why playing "fair" if people won't do the same for you? Usually You gave them a "fair" match and in exchange they will harass you for no reasons... Tell me what you think about it, I'm genuinely curious...

Being fair is subjective to the individual, some people can be toxic and say it's "fair" which isn't fair.
Just play how you want. If you have a moral view than follow that, I don't like to tunnel or camp because it's boring
I don't care what you do as long as you aren't purposefully going out of your way to make another person's experience miserable, no matter which role you play.
The only reason is to have fun, and make sure your fellow players have fun. If that isn't what you wanna do, then don't.
Play how you want, but you can't really get angry at people for not enjoying how you play, nor complain about how others play.
But... it isn't considered a good play. Killers would consider that toxic, survivors would consider it smart. Just as survivors consider tunneling toxic and killers consider it smart.
The point is, it goes both ways and always will in a game designed to pit people against each other. Too many people on both sides wanna call normal gameplay "toxic" because they don't like losing.
The only true toxicity in this game is cheating or end game messaging.
There isn't one
There is no point. Pound them into the dirt, win at all costs and ignore the whining. It's more fun that way.
youll never find a dbd waifu/husbando if you play mean.
If you didn't cheat, you played fair. Some people just can't handle losing and will try to blame it on you because otherwise it might mean that it's their own fault they lost and obviously that can't be the case.
Finishing a gen isn't fair? What can a Survivor actually do that isn't fair, DC is about all.
Tunneling and camping suck for the one person you are doing it to and, has been discussed at length throughout this forum.
Play how you like though.
Fairness is totally subjective. Fun is too, they're different feelings that can work together. They don't always go together tho, and some people sour their fun because they felt something was unfair.
Never said that it's unfair, I stated only the fact that doing this and tunneling are the same concept: you did your objective optimally. Being tunneled isn't fun, but it's part of the game, if a thing like that happens I won't throw insults or harass the killer (or wrote a - rep on his/her profile), same if survivors try to genrush, no one will get points most of the times and probably you won't have much fun, but it's part of the game, deal with it or leave
If you play in a way that is fun for you but unfun for people on the receiving end, don't be surprised when they aren't exactly appreciative.
Too many people listen to streamers on what is and isn't a good play. More often than not, a good play is simply making the smart choice. Tunneling and Genrushing are not smart plays. Sure, they have the potential to be efficient, but they also have the potential to backfire.
Just like a good killer will protect select gens to force a 3 gen, a good survivor will loop a tunneling killer long enough for several gens to pop which almost guarantees their team escaping.
Nobody who tells you exactly how you should be playing is worth listening to. Just don't be toxic or cheat & I consider that a fair match.
I think that the only fairness that matters is what the devs made fair in the game's official rules.
Camping and tunneling have very clearly been made not-bannable years ago, so you'd just listen to a player you are probably not seeing again for a good amount of matches.
So long as it's within the rules, and there are no exploits happening, then it is fair regardless. If you're doing that, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks because you've done it all within the rules.
I'd query the idea of doing a gen under the killer's nose a "good play" though. It's more a sacrificial risk, and I've grabbed many a player who didn't judge the gen's progress accordingly. That's always fun!
finishing a gen in front of the killer is as annoying as getting tunneled. Dont act like its not like that.
Doesnt mean its unfair.
Unfortunately like many have stated fair is subjective so you'll always have that person that it isn't fair unless he's stomping the other team. Do what you find fun. As much as I play survivor and would love to face fun killers that's not always going to be the case.
I do have to say though play like you want but don't take a bad game with a toxic player out on the next team... of course unless it's the same people then school them with your phD in toxicology ๐.
Is this topic the new copy-pasta of the month? I swear I see a new thread exactly like this one every day.
Play within the rules. If playing fairly according to your view of fairness mskes you feel better, then go for it.
