With gen tapping being a bit unfair on killers and seeing this topic pop up a few times I'm curious as to what you guys would do to fix gen tapping. This is my idea, probably not the best out there though.

Any Gen that is regressing due to the killer kicking it, surge activating or oppression will regress as normal. When a survivor gets back on the gen that has been damaged they must sit on the gen for 2 seconds. During this time the gen will stop regressing but will not gain any progress either (much like when you fail a skill check).

If a survivor leaves the gen before the required 2 seconds is complete then the gen will start regressing again. Additionally if a survivor decides to use a toolbox on a regressing gen they will be able to stop the gen regressing 20% faster (a counter to brutal strength).

Note: Gens affected by hex ruin would not have this 2 second requirement as that would be a bit too strong, it would have to be a gen that you have to manually kick (surge being an exception).

Note 2: Surveillance will still show the gen being marked as white while the survivor is doing the 2 second requirement so it's not too strong. Only when the survivor has finished the 2 seconds will the white aura disappear.

It's not perfect and I'm sure there are better ways of doing this but with how gen tapping is right now I feel like something needs to change. Let me know what you think or how you would fix gen tapping. :)

I like the idea though. Maybe the repair speeds of different toolboxes will either make it quicker or slower depending on the specific toolbox being used.

A forced skill check that activates every time someone starts working on a regressing gen.

The regression doesn't stop until the skillcheck has been done, if they miss it loses some more progress.

    So a buffed overcharge?

Regardless of exhaustion, you take no stagger whatsoever when falling from high places.

*Old balanced landing on Haddonfield flashbacks*

Forgot to mention you'll be stuck in an animation so make sure to position yourself right before landing!

  • Grand Leap: You find it pretty stupid that no one else has made an attempt to jump across gaps when getting chased. Press the active ability button whenever you aren't interacting with an object to jump in the air and stay in the air for 1 second. The perk then afflicts you with the exhaustion status effect for 8/7/6 seconds. Regardless of exhaustion, you take no stagger whatsoever when falling from high places.

"Since when did everyone lose their common sense?" -Slim Jim

Mean Streak: From listening to You're The Best, you kept it in your mind that nothing could ever keep you down. When vaulting a window or pallet and you collide into the killer, stun them for 3 seconds. Once the perk is used, become afflicted with the exhausted status for 60/50/40 seconds.

"I didn't hear no bell..." -Slim Jim

  • For the sake of being lore accurate, I will tunnel any Jill player when i play Nemisis. Also the bot mode is gonna be good for me as a way to cool down.

  • What would you think about this perk concept i found on reddit? i think it'd be a good counter against the exposed status.

"It is only once all four people are down with no means of recovery is it a real problem. And that is where you want a shorter timer and not a longer one"

People have suggested that when all survivors don't have any means to recover themselves while everyone is slugged, they should get to press a button to bleed out faster

I just want that as a default if you're on the ground for more than idk... 15 seconds? Imagine the last person is at the hatch and you know they're on it and the killer is slugging for a 4k. It wouldn't make you bleed out immediately but it make it go quicker. That way, people won't dc to give their team hatch. :D

  • Resident Evil because it introduced the whole bot match idea to core dbd. That was heavily desired.

  • Scott Jund talked about this in one of his videos but the idea is: Legion can turn into one of the four survivors in the trial with no terror radius until you pull out the knife. Imagine a baby dwight chasing you with a knife. Funny stuff. They would also have the survivor perspective when in the survivor form until they swap in. The knife thing is there to pull out so the third to first person switch doesn't get disorienting.

so i was playing with one of my friends and we came across this legion who was originally just tunneling my friend off hook and i didnt really know why so i tried getting their attention and then they started tunneling me and face camped me the whole game but it wasn't until end game chat that they said it was for me wearing the pride charm i heard it's possible for people tunneling and camping because of the pride charm to get banned because it counts as harassment. if this can be dealt with please help and take it into consideration! the persons username was ANDY3NG on steam. (also my friend was wearing the pride charm too.)

An Exhaustion perks that give you 150% speed for 4 seconds, after you unhook a survivor. I know it seems like a bad perk, but it could be useful if the killer comes at you while ur unhooking. :)

Give the unhooked survivor that speed boost as well and we got a deal!

I just wanted to know the opinion of others guys

Pretty fun from what i've seen. Look forward to the bot matches being a thing.

  • This is purely a joke but it'd be funny.

    Chad Blessing:

Be good to others and you will be treated the same. Spread the wealth.

If you repeatedly crouch with other survivors within the first minute of activating the reunited score event, gain a token which gives 50% bloodpoint bonus to the altruism category. The most you can gain is 4 tokens for obvious reasons. If you nod at the killer while slowly crouching at the exit gate, the killer gains a 100% bonus to the deviousness category.
  • That happens after multiple dcs. Plus people have bad internet due to the pandemic still raging on. Not a chance.

yeah i agree but i think even if it was client side it could still be banned but who knows, would also love the option to have different moris

Even when they restrict it from the prohibited countries? That'd be petty as hell.

  • Perhaps the dark screen for deep wound could be used instead for the bleed out meter? imagine just as you get picked up before you bleed out, your vision is kind of screwed while you're frantically running to find the hatch or something. Pretty scary, right?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/253054/dismemberment-in-dbd

kinda hard to do, might get the game banned in some places, physical dismemberment is not seen the same in some places

Client sided only. If you live in a country where it's not prohibited. Let us pay for the client side gore. We want bloodshed!

  • As killer: 3k because of the thematic last survivor barely making it out through the gate. i treat it like a 4k if they get hatch.

As survivor: Me escaping or at least the rest escape. Minimum being 2 other survivors.

  • Claudette and my boy Danny. One i'd protect and one that'd protect me. Plain and simple.

Yes, so much yes. At best, it consistently stays at 30fps but once in a blue moon, I get a laggy skill check because of game's performance

I ask because i just bought dbd on switch. I also happened to get my new switch days ago so i pray that i'm getting alright frames.

yeah the game is very dark on Switch, it's really annoying. I only play docked though so I can at least tinker with my monitor settings just for DBD but that can only do so much...

I've been told that still the switch gets under 30 fps. Is that still true?

Thing is i went over the map in a grid. Walk over pretty much every single area. The survivor was also running around looking for it. I went north to south then i moved a little to the west and went back north and repeated that for the entire map. The chances of both of us not finding it must have been almost non existent. Wish i could boot up the map in a sand box mode and look for it again. Next time i play on Pale Rose i'll intentionally give the hatch and see if i can find it.

You can actually load up maps by yourself with the dev console.

  • @ttvbardberd said:

From an outside perspective, it seems almost uncanny that this is the case, but I think a lot of people who play this game (And take it to seriously) forget one thing.

A lot of players especially the ones who have a lot of hours forget that at the end of the day, a lot of people play this game just for fun.

Sure it's boring at brown ranks especially when you've earned your way all the way up to red ranks, but if you go back and play against brown ranks you'll notice one thing that every player is having - fun.

Most of the time the new players will camp, sure. But I remember when I started, playing dbd with my friends, the killers would camp and it would suck, but we'd still find a way to have fun.

What brown ranks have that gets lost in the later ranks is the respectful nature for everyone in the game, especially if you turn off end game chat / play on console.

The players are so new to the game that they just play in the way they think they're supposed to, which makes the game fun. For an experienced player, yeah sure watching your teammates cower in fear everytime they hear the terror radius go off, or being camped by the killer, or watching a trapper just open traps on the spawn locations, there is a certain charm to it.

Point being, the only way to have fun in this game is to be respectful and hope that the other players are being respectful back. The best games are the ones where the killer comes to my stream, says "I'm the killer, good luck! :)" and plays fairly the entire game.

If you want to have the most fun on this game, just be respectful of whoever you play with. There are always gonna be cynical types who play the game just to be dicks, but the more players that play fairly, the better the experience will be at the end of the day.

It may be a joke, but the whole "Survivors Guide for Killers" was a joke made by the community, and honestly a lot of people and players respect it, because it's literally designed so that players can have the most fun. The actual "community rules" actually make this game more fun, like no tunnelling, camping, don't teabag, or use an instant heal and teabag, etc.

Just remember, the next time you play, try to enjoy yourself, and if someone isn't playing fairly, then don't get riled up about it. They're either a bad player or made a mistake and will get better with time.

    I-

    ...

    I love you. :>

@mcote I've been playing dbd since Jenuary 2017, and right now I have 2000+ hours in game and thousands more seeing yt videos and twitchers.

I've taken many pauses during the dbd lifetime because I was not bearing anymore all the frustration of some patches, bad changes and glitches, the overall feeling within the community.

I am gonna do a really really HUGE thread with my opinion on dbd, overall, judging all the aspects of the game ( it will take some time, 1 day maybe)

But this patch really really made me loathing, more than the Twins realise. Other than the bad rework of the game (imo) where now it has 6/7 god pallets EVERY TIME, the new HUD is insanely confusing and really messes up my muscle memory.

The matchmaking isn't working, at rank 5 the last time I played it was 150 minutes in game, with cross play deactivated, of only really really bad players, and this is

the most frustrating thing between all of them.

The new animations confuse me as killer, I don't know when to do lunges or not, the hitbox desync means that

Even the survivors now are not playing properly against me

Huntress' desync is something disgusting, wi-fi hatchets literally (thank god huntress is not super popular)

And the new HUD is no minimalistic, too big and all around the screen.

I'm not gonna play dbd more than 1 hour/day or even week until this mess is fixed, I promise. Unless somehow I find something funny enough to do and not find always really bad players.

Graphic changes awesome as always, how skillchecks work with the new HUD is great, the creative/art team as always carries the rest while not enough small changes get processed for bad killers and balance decisions (why no 2 more default traps to trapper? Is it so difficult to change a number?)

So I'm sorry, but this time I'm leaving the game for a bit until new changes are done (and hope ds and OoO get nerfed geez)

You were aware that 90% of people hated the HUD in this state but didn't move a single thing to at least make it better ( and the HUD is not something that requires months and months to redistribute around the screen, that's a lie)

See you the next chapter, in the fog, with cross play deactivated still unless MMR changes are officially released hoping it actually rewards the winning condition, which is surviving for survivors, and killing for the killer. End of the story, it is not pipping, as described in the in game guides, but killing (which is what the entire game is right? Survivors vs Killer, not pip vs pip, because it's described as a "COMPETITIVE" game on steam,:so one side against the other)

See you guys, McLean (for always listening and being aware of the things in the game) and Jeff( my favourites, I like the nerdy ones), , mods, c.m. Not Queen and Peanits, and all those fog whisperers that actually pass on the forums once in a blue moon, dbd streamers, and all those people that actually care about dbd.

    I'll miss you, bye bye.

I couldn't even play since my Console froze right at the start of the month. Pretty bummed out about it tbh.

  • If you mean emotes then idk. Make them only cost bloodpoints or shards. We don't need them to become Fortnite where emotes are everything. Basic stuff would be nice like something that could be useful for stealth or trying to get the killer to chase you. Imagine that you would run out in the open with your arms flailing around.

  • I'll be more than happy to answer this question...

Unfortunately, the saying, “out with the old and in with the new” rings true here. They can’t regress the game to serve an old generation. Like Bob Dylan said... “The Time’s They Are A Changin’.” The old movement isn’t the issue, the currency of your console is... sorry to say... time to save up.

Not everyone is able to afford a console. Plus with the store bots buying all the Ps5s, It's nearly impossible to get it. Learn to be in other people's shoes before telling them to get a better console in such a blunt manner.

I've had this issue in the past, but never to the extent of late. Is anyone else having this issue? Is it the game servers and not me? I'm confused. Any advice/recommendations?

Isn't he a survivor main? I've only ever seen content from him playing as survivor. Not being funny but the mindset required for Killer and Survivor are quite different. Sure survivor can be stressful at times, especially against a good Killer, but playing Killer is low key stressful at all times, even against a team that's not decent

He plays both sides. You just don’t watch the videos he does on new killers.

I wasn't referring to you being correct, but what you stated. I just don't really get the whole "don't care/don't take it seriously" advice. If you didn't care, you wouldn't be playing. If you don't take it seriously, then you wouldn't be playing well. And at that point you'd have to ask the question why play if you take it neither seriously nor care about it.

For example, I do not like Game of Thrones. Watched one episode of it and found it to be a drag and have not given a ######### about it since. I do not care about it and subsequently I do not engage with it.

The advice that should be given is don't take the game personally, such as when you get tunnelled/facecamped whatever. Otherwise playing the game by default makes you care, and trying to play well--even to a degree of mastery where you can do it by muscle memory with a lot less effort--is still taking it seriously

That’s what i was trying to say. I just used the wrong words. Don’t take it personal or anything.

I don't know about greatest, but I do have one I enjoyed more than others. This was before EGC was implemented. I was in a match where I was the last survivor. The killer was a huntress. All 5 gens were completed. Both exit gates and the hatch were all relatively close to each other. Killer could literally stand next to hatch and throw axes to hit me at either gate. I kept trying to run and tap the gates a little at a time. I was hoping eventually I would hit one of them enough times to open a gate. I figured forcing the killer to have to guard both the hatch and one gate gave me a chance.

The whole time this killer is sending me messages telling me I may as well give up because they will get me eventually. This went on for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. The more time that went by the more angry the messages became. Finally the killer was able to hit me with a couple of axes and take me down. They hung me right next to the hatch. After hooking me the killer took a few steps away and turned their back to me. My first hook escape attempt worked. I landed right next to the hatch. The killer wasn't able to react in time to stop my exit. While it definitely wasn't a skilled escape it was very likely my most satisfying one.

I wish you could choose to have endgame collapse switched on or off in customs just to have fun hatch standoffs.

Okay, don't get me wrong, I love Deliverance, but I hate it some times too.

As someone who (has to) play solo 95% of the time (Rank 1 surv), Deliverance is by far one of my favorite perks those times because of how it allows you to not care about how dumb or selfish your teammates are, you just get hooked, and get off right away, plus, it gives you point, and with DS, it's very juicy

But. There are frustrating things in DBD for sure, but playing as a P3 Claudette, hiding and not doing a gen until someone is found (to get Deliverance on), and still being found first and having absolutely no value out of the perk sometimes is kinda disgusting. Self care does not require to heal someone else to heal yourself after that, neither does Prove thyself require you to get a gen done to activate.

Today Deliverance having that condition is beyond stupity, if I could resume it it would be : Unlucky = F*ck your perk

Remove that condition. I dont even care if to be balanced we need to change the broken state to like 120 seconds, as long as I can use the perk I brought because I would like to use it

I agree. even though i do like how it promotes altruism. Maybe the perk could replace struggle for only attempting to escape.
