I unironically liked how difficulty it was for survivors. I dislike indoor maps but I like how this map presents a challenge to me.
I wanted to hop on and record my last time playing this map but I have no passion for DBD as of late...
-
Roughly 35-40 minutes.
Had a game on Midwich during the 4th Anniversary event vs. a Wraith. The game started off normally, but our gen progress was slow because the map was new at the time and Wraith can easily patrol the gens on that map due to how tiny it is. Despite this, we held our own in loops and managed to get down to 2 gens remaining after 15 minutes. Though we lost 2 survivors so it was just me and Dwight remaining.
I walked slowly everywhere, especially when my Spine Chill activated. Eventually, I ended up on the middle gen outside and worked on it until my spine chill activated. Each time it did, I hid in the bush nearby and watched Wraith run around the walls and check the lockers for a good minute before leaving. Once I knew the coast was clear, I worked on the gen again. But 30 seconds later, he came back so I hid in the same bush before he could see me. He patrolled the exact route and almost ran into me before getting frustrated and leaving again. I waited for a while in case he came back before leaving the area entirely.
I walked around the map, looking for a key and Dwight and generally learning the layout of Midwich before hearing continuous Wraith Bells. Following the sounds, I went up the stairs and saw the Wraith bodyblocking the Dwight in a corner. Dwight had 3 crows on his head and was actively moving. Wraith turns around to look at me, before moving away to allow the Dwight to be free.
Wraith then turns invisible and stands still. Dwight and I looked at each other before we offered our items to Wraith and ran to a nearby gen. Once we completed that gen, Wraith uncloaked and stared at us as we ran towards the final gen and completed it. Once that was done, Wraith opened the door and we left.
No endgame chat because this was on Switch and it was before crossplay

As killer, I slug them. As survivor, I run around them in circles until one crow appears above them

Getting 0-2 cakes per survivor web isn´t exactly great. You spend 50k points per web.
But in my experience, most of the games I had during the 5th anniversary event had 4 or 5 cakes in them and I walked away with 225k bloodpoints on average. Yeah it's annoying that the cakes were a lot more rare this year compared to last year but I was still able to make a profit from other people sharing their cakes.

All of the people saying they want dc penalties back should really be asking for the devs to put more effort in to updates and console optimization. Everytime they mess something up like this, which lets be real will happen again if it is even fixed tomorrow, then the penalties will just be shut off again.
Hold the devs accountable all the time not just when it begins to impact you.
honestly, if we really want to hold the devs accountable, then the community has to stop buying the chapters until the game is more stable. our money speaks more than our voices

roughly $25
I bought Laurie for DS in my first week of playing this game in September 2019. In mid 2020, I bought the Stranger Things Chapter just for Second Wind and Inner Strength.
For the most part, I don't care about paid cosmetics or cosmetics in general. I typically wear default or prestige clothes. Sometimes I do wear gear from archives if I unlocked them...
-
It already annoys me so much that people dc in the games. But I pull my hair out when someone dc's early game with 4 or 5 cakes in the lobby
-
Only 6 on Bill and some other single digit amount of cakes on my other characters that I haven't leveled up yet. I got pretty unlucky with my bloodwebs a lot of the time.
-
I play on Switch and while I can't speak for other Switch users, I am able to play the game perfectly fine.

You know I guess I am starting to wonder why this community points out the term sweats as often as it does. Idk if I know the proper sweats term. But I imagine it isn't much different from try hards? I mean even that terms to me is off putting. Why do we categorize sweats and try hards in a negative connotation? I mean what's wrong with trying your outmost best to win a match?
But to answer your question I would imagine this is an easy answer. It'd be your killers that are meta that are filled with "sweats"
Can you imagine if someone went up to any other top athlete and told them they were a sweat. Like #########? Okay so I did amazing? Thanks?
The term “sweat” has been used at large by Fortnite streamers to talk about players who use complex and difficult strategies to take down opposing players even when they wouldn't need to. ... “Sweat” literally means that after a fight, the player was surely trying so hard to make a flashy play that they're sweating
I'm probably the only person in the whole world who uses "sweaty" or "tryhard" as a connotation for an extremely good player. I don't mean it as a negative to that person.

I want to play huntress but it's a nightmare to use her on console against pc players. Before crossplay, it was tolerable because everyone had dead angles on the joystick. I could turn off crossplay but the queues would be insanely long, 3x longer than before crossplay, in my experience.
-
I won't lie, when I saw this post first come up a few months ago, I thought it'd be left in the dust. Thankfully though, there are 80 pages worth of people who agree with the OP on all these issues.

I guess so. I planned on playing the match like it was a normal match because lately when I indicate that I want to farm, survivors haven't been wanting to, so my cake goes to waste. But if you're throwing up a cake, then clearly you want the blood points, so why disconnect?
I think those people put their own personal experience of a match over the value you can get from the said match. It doesn't matter if there's an opportunity to get up to 200k bp with those cakes. If those survivors get a bad spawn, get downed first, see a certain killer, etc they pull the plug and waste everyone's time and bloodpoints.
I've been seen a few killers here and there farm and that's perfectly fine by me. It gets me the bloodpoints AND the archive challenges out of the way so it's a win win for me.

No dc penalty = results like this, it seems.

I got this error after an hour of searching
The matchmaking process failed. Reason: churnExceeded
then I restarted the matching making and I got an instant lobby with crossplay on

Which platforms and regions are you on that are currently experiencing issues?
USA West Coast. Nintendo Switch
-
Thought it was just me. after finishing a game against a ghostface, I queue up immediately... then I sit in the lobby simulator for 20 minutes. I eventually tried to cancel the matchmaking but the game disabled the cancel button AFTER I pressed it, forcing me to reset.
Before all this happened, I've had instant survivor games for the past few hours so I know something's up with the servers.

I've been told that still the switch gets under 30 fps. Is that still true?
Yes, so much yes. At best, it consistently stays at 30fps but once in a blue moon, I get a laggy skill check because of game's performance
-
yeah the game is very dark on Switch, it's really annoying. I only play docked though so I can at least tinker with my monitor settings just for DBD but that can only do so much...
-
Balanced Landing
Lightweight
Hope
-
I do it all the time. It's perfect for a game like DBD where literally anything can happen in a match.
-
Bill for 2 reasons: I leveled him up as my first character when I started playing for Borrowed Time, and 2, I don't buy cosmetics and he doesn't have any for sale. Needless to say, I won't hesitate to earn a time exclusive cosmetic with him without putting a single penny into the store (aka current rift.)
Wraith because it's fun to zoom around the map while invisible.
-
Still using DS in all my games. 8 games out of 10, I was the only DS user and I expect that to not change. But this was a MUCH needed change imo.

Its a boring playstyle most of the time.
Immersion is the real boring playstyle.
-
Ignoring totems, healing, searching chests and unhooking.
Just do the gens and get up outta the trial. Rinse and Repeat for the next one. That's what I consider to be Gen Rushing.
-
For those who don't get the point of this thread
-
- "I’ve had two games against two different Pigs where they would down someone, put RBT on them, and then with ONE GEN DONE and no pressure at all they would chase the Active RBT survivor no matter what. Me trying to bodyblock included. I mean isn’t the point of Pig to waste survivor’s time with RBT while they chase the others? That guy isn’t going to do anything anyway until he removes it. I’m no Pig player so I’m a bit uncertain about this, but doesn’t seem cool to me."
This. Literally every game I have with Pig, someone with an active RBT gets tunneled out of the game. I legit do not understand why this happens

@Zarr0ch said:
It depends, if they have watched me run across the entire map to unhook them, and they try it as I get there, I've started leaving them there, Moved on to the gen nearby.
Is it petty? Yes, yes it is, but, you are trying to deny me the unhook points, I could have stayed on my gen, but no, you want the lols. Well, I get the lols when you die and get salty. I'll throw a match out of pettyness if I have to.
couldn't have said it better myself lol

@TheWarNung said:
Yeah. Old BNPs would do that. Old insta-heals would do that as well. You could instantly gain back a health state in the middle of a chase.
This was 4 years back when the game looked very VERY different. And even then the devs nerfed them pretty quickly. As I recall back in those days the killer shack had 2 windows and when people called it an infinite loop they were not speaking metaphorically. If a survivor ran there and played it well you literally could not catch them unless you were playing Trapper.
Not to mention, no bloodlust, killers had a slower vault speed and entity couldn't block windows
-
Kates farm me on hook without BT.
Pigs tunnel people in my games with a RBT active. Leatherface lives in basement.
-
get ready for every survivor and their casual SWF to have DS in every game lol

Lol I do the same thing. I try to stay on as long as possible when coward teammates pull that stuff. The minute these cowards find the hatch they stop doing gens or just helping in general. Though they mostly hide throughout the whole match anyway till everyone else does their job for them. I want them to die with me.
Luckily, I've never been in that situation. Either myself or my other teammate tries to save each other and push objectives. Once one of us gets caught on death hook, the other goes to the hatch and leaves.
-
first time experiencing it haha
-
- Survivor-sided. Solo queue player
- Before crossplay, I hovered around rank 1. Now I hover around rank 3-4. (console player meeting sweaty pc players)
- 300hrs. I take month long breaks for the sake of my mental health. Played since September 2019. Watched the game since late 2017.
- Bill, p3, almost all perks
- Survivor main
-
it'll be in the game for a year, calling it now

Havent seen thos OoO and DS change in my patch, have you?
Also, just because something good is made (or rather planned, very, very slowly planned) doesnt mean SUDDENLY everything bad must be disregarded.
What kind of weird and twisted logic is that?
Where did I imply or indicate in my post that people should disregard the dumb stuff the devs do to the game?
-
zubatlel: I love watching his looping skills as survivor and how flashy he can be. I also like how he gets the most out of his unconventional builds as both killer and survivor.
tru3ta1ent: great advice on the game, enjoy watching his killer and survivor gameplay. He practices what he preaches when he talks about the optimal ways to play a side (IN HIS OPINION)

Believe it or not, OOO is amazing in a stealth build. You just have to know how to use it. It takes the place of Spine Chill as your detector perk. And it's a lot better at it.
I prefer kindred/bond/alert over spine chill whenever I decide to use one or the other, but yeah, I see your point. It won't hurt to try it out in my builds the future lol
-
I've played the game since 2019. Laurie was my second survivor where I unlocked her teachables. Never used OoO because I'm a stealth player...
I might as well use it once...

Selfcare itself isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
However, the problem is that it's usually used by players that lack game sense - who will often run to the corner of the map whenever they get injured to self care. This creates pressure and slows objectives for the other 3 players on the team.
And this applies to Urban Evasion and Spine Chill. Both perks get so much hate than they should because of all the bad players using them in a non-productive way. (spine chill: running around a gen when the light flickers constantly, urban evading in the corner while the killer is on the other side of the map)
-
Doctor, Ghostface and Pig
Ghostface especially. I hate fighting stealth killers in general even though I can hear GF's footsteps sometimes for the most part. Pig for her stealth and just how I see so many pigs tunnel people with active traps on. Lastly, Doctor purely because of static blast. I always have to hover near a locker whenever he hooks someone or some time has passed and no one has been chased...
-
I literally thought this just happens to me. I've had so many pigs tunnel me even though I had a reverse bear trap and ds is active that I lost count
-
I wish they didn't nerf the perk. I found it interesting to go against. Admittedly, it was sometimes annoying to deal with Sloppy Butcher and Thanatophobia together but it was a threat and you had to adjust your strategy of risking your precious time healing through slowdown or doing the gen through slowdown while injured.
Nowadays, whenever I see Thanatophobia, I just heal without much of a second thought.
-
My main go-to build when I'm not doing any challenges or testing other builds.
Decisive Strike
Dead Hard/Balanced Landing
Iron Will
Resilience
DS and DH are self-explanatory. Iron Will and Resilience because half the time, no one heals me off hook when the killer is far away (despite me healing them after unhooking earlier in the match) so I don't want to be punished for my team being cowards. It also helps in late game scenarios where I can't find my other team mate or unlocking the gate.
Balanced Landing is my favorite exhaustion perk because of how situational it is. It's a good challenge to use over dead hard because I literally have to plan my route when I'm getting chased.
-
Part of me wants to see this video so we can verify if the Myers really was doing shady stuff as you say...
-
When I bodyblock a survivor and they drop the pallet on me.
Meanwhile, when I'm in a situation where I need to get bodyblocked, they just stare at me or run away
also looping the killer around a hooked teammate. It's one of the reasons why I put on kindred
